GNK DINAMO ZAGREB 3 – 0 NK ZADAR
Dinamo Zagreb followed up their 5-0 Champions League qualifying win versus Fola Tuesday with another dominant performance in the Prva Liga Friday night against Zadar. However, just like the Fola match, the Croatian champions got off to a slow start, finishing the first half without a goal. Teenage phenom Alen Halilović was subbed off at halftime before striker Andrej Kramarić would score two goals in the 56th minute to put the game away against a futile Zadar side. Duje Čop would add another one in injury time to finish the game 3-0 for Dinamo.
The club is now a perfect six points through the first two games of the season and will be moving onto the third qualifying round of Champions League after their home leg match Tuesday night against Fola. Barring an absolute collapse of epic proportions, Dinamo will play the winner of Sheriff Tiraspol or Sutjeska Nikšić.
OSIJEK 1-2 LOKOMOTIVA
The Lokomotiva freight train just keeps on rolling. After a surprising 2-1 win over Dinamo Minsk in Europa League qualifying Thursday, they came from behind Monday night to defeat Osijek 2-1 and stay perfect in the early HNL season. Osijek’s Karlo Lulić put them on top in the 33rd minute but an equalizing goal from Loko’s Mario Musa and an eventual game-winning penalty kick from Dinko Trebotić in the 87′ would be good enough for the win. Lokomotiva host Dinamo Minsk this Thursday in the second leg of their Europa League qualifying from Zagreb. Is this the Croatian Cinderella team that we’ve been waiting for?
HAJDUK 1-1 RIJEKA
Hajduk Split escaped Poljud on Thursday in a 2-1 win over Turnovo in Europa League, but couldn’t do the same Sunday versus a stubborn Rijeka side. Hajduk got on the board first, with striker Anton Maglica opening up the scoring in the 28th minute of play. But Hajduk’s efforts to start the season with two wins would not happen as Rijeka’s Z. Kvržić would equalize in the 80th minute to force a 1-1 draw. Both teams now have four points through the first two games and will play the second legs of their Europa League qualifying this Thursday with Rijeka in complete control (5-0) over Prestatyn Town and Hajduk needing to back up their first leg 2-1 win over Turnovo.
ISTRA 1961 1-1 RNK SPLIT
It what have to be the coolest HNL kits in quite some time, NK Istra 1961 (black and green) hosted RNK Split Saturday after losing their opening match last weekend. It was looking good for Istra as Dejan Radonjić’s 36th minute goal appeared to be good enough for the win, but Split’s Aljoša Vojnović would equalize in the 87th minute to force a 1-1 draw. Split now have four points to start the season while this was Istra’s first mark on the table.
SLAVEN KOPRIVNICA 2-2 HRVATSKI DRAGOVOLJAC
A 4-goal shootout in Koprivnica led to both Slaven’s and Dragovoljac’s first points of the season in a 2-2 draw Saturday. Dragovoljac scored first as Filip Jazvić struck in the the 18th minute. However, Slaven would come back in the second half with goals from Purić (56′) and Delić (79′) to put the homeside up 2-1 heading into injury time. But Dragovoljac would not be denied as Ilija Sivonjić would score in the second minute of injury time to earn a 2-2 draw.
Glad Migliore is gone. All i can say about that signing is Why??? No need to ship in an Argentine goalkeeper who is 31. Will be good for Dario Kresic to come. I don’t worry about youth not getting a chance as that is why we have such a connection with Lokomotiva. If we can offload Fatos Bequiraj somewhere for at least 500,000 as there is clearly no place for him now with Fernandes, Cop and Kramaric ahead of him – then we should sign Orsic from Zapresic and send him on loan to Lokomotiva. Rukavina can stay if he wishes as a sub i dont mind that as we need four strikers 🙂 Plus i can see Halilovic leaving as well.
I personally do not think we are sure for the title this season. Rijeka look very strong. Krstanovic, Cesarec, Benko, Anas Sharbini, Mujanovic, Alispahic etc is a very fierce forward line and goalscorers make the difference in HNL1. RNK Split also look very strong in attack with Bilic, Rebic and Belle. I personally think Hajduk look ordinary but they still have quality in their squad.
Unfortunately Osijek and Slaven Belupo look weaker and have sign players and Zadar need to get Stipe Perica to play with them one more season otherwise they are gonna keep Dragovoljac in the league.
If Osijek gain the investment from the sale of their youth player to Man City and bring Vitaic, Ljubojevic or Weitzer and Belupo sign someone like Krunoslav Lovrek then they’d look more threatening but at present both are gonna end up being push overs and that’ll make the league weaker in the midtable positions.
Thank you kind Sir!
@ Poglavnik,
9 spot orange means relegation playoff match at the end of the season with a club from HNL.2 and 10 spot red means direct relegation to HNL.2 next year.
Hey Kvartuc, what do the orange 9 th place and red 10th place indicate in the table?
Ziva: i want to know more about this suzy soccer mum.. she sexy??
😛
Highlight for me was meeting Luka and Dudu at a dinner in their honour at the Croatia Club in Mississauga…..jock sniffing at it’s very finest!
Yeah, the game was pretty much a dud. Some dude unfurled a massive Poglavnik banner until a few others told him to wrap it up and a scrap ensued….good times. LOL
Teo Kardum scored a super ugly goal in an incredibly dull / boring match. Then a few Croats lit some flares leading to some of them getting kicked out (highlight of the night) in an otherwise uneventful night.
who won the dinamo/rangers match in 2005?
@Ante B
We were all spread around. Ranger fans would make noise and suddenly all the Hrvati would start singing and making noise.
Attendance at the Skydome in Toronto in July 2005 for friendly between Dinamo and Rangers was 18,159. I was there, seemed like more but support was split pretty evenly even though Dinamo supporters much louder and rowdier than Rangers. Even had some BBB make the trip from Zagreb.
Link to article on game….

If that Bosnian team win then dinamo go play offs off the bat on account of the higher ranking teams being ko’d

Looks like Dinamo will be playing Šerif again

Looks like Dinamos goalie (Pablo Migliore) wants out. Somebody better call the wambulance…

Looks like Pablo Migliore out of Dinamo after that spat with Kruno the vjestak
EL LOCO ŠOKIRAO MAKSIMIR Pablo Migliore zatražio raskid ugovora s Dinamom

Luka,
Awesome that you were there. I heard some BBB made it from Zagreb. Did you all sit together or was everyone spread out?
@jarac – i usually have domace vino or rakija sweating out of my pores while in cro so the komarci don’t mess with me too much. 🙂
And Rangers is a much bigger name that would draw in the casual soccer fan……..I think a jadan i mali hajduk-Dinamo game would draw around 15K in a city like Toronto and around 8-10K (at best) in other cities around N. America, and I am being very, very optimistic with that number. To make a profit you have to draw in the non-hrvat and dinamo and hajduk don’t have the name recognition to make that happen. Suzy soccer mom down the street is not going to buy tickets so she and her sons can go watch jadan i mali hajduk-Dinamo play.
Now, are the figures I listed (again, very optimisitc estimate) enough to cover costs and for the promoter to make a profit. I’m not sure.
I also saw some Hajduk supporters at the game. It was a good time. Plenty of singing.
@Ziva
I was at the game and it was an equal mix of supporters for each team. I recall a figure of 20,000. Give or take a couple of thousand.
@nije
man have u been on krbela w/o mosquito potion, God bless
Sorry, Migliore.
And it looks like Jurcic sent Magliore home after coming to practice with his son. Magliore never came back. Back up goalie Zelenika is up!
^^ That sucks! However all those people can find a little uninhabited island where villagers from other islands take there dying donkeys to die and be nude and get there sticky on there. I have a couple of those islands right behind my Krapanj, they are called Velika Krbela and Mala Krbela…..
I would maybe consider going to this, but tbh couldn’t care less either way.
I don’t think a mini turnir like this would do very well tbh (and it is probably just a bs rumour anyways).
The dark side of joining the EU…………..

July 2005 and most people were in Cro, this guy included.
WOW…………….@franjo…………your old man says “HLEBA” or “LEBA”………who is the serb influencer on your side of the family.
Does anyone remember how many fans Dinamo drew in Toronto when they played Rangers (2006 or 2007, around that time).
I doubt a dinamo-hajduk tour would get a large number of ticket buyers in multiple cities. This would have to be one game in a bigger market where peolle could fly in. Even then, it would not come close to selling out an MLS stadium. Which makes you ask the question if the promoters would make money from it. And then how much would they charge for a meaningless game.
And for those of you thinking the croatian community around N. America could come together for this………….fat chance. The war ended and that mentality is long gone. The croatian community throughout N. America couldn’t come together to protest the Gotovina conviction the first time around with many people trying to organize something.
Da mu date ‘leba? Odakle si ti, Bog te j….?!?
Iz Cacka? LOL
Lol how dumb is that troll, it’s just because we say it fast that it sounds like “fala”, you could argue that the US fast paced life style. It’s like at dinner when my dad asks for the ‘leba’, you can’t hear the “h”.
As for Chicago, I’m in
Toronto!? Im in!
@ Ziva
we don’t discriminate, we ‘love’ all HNL teams equally – Hajduk, Dinamo, Zadar, etc.
you should google some of the chants from Istra-Rijeka games.. some hilarious chants from those games too
Plus they’d bring their B teams most likely.
It’s official Josip Elez now plays for Lazio. Wish him luck and lots of playing time. I think the kid has lots of potential….
Ante B – i was just reading that article. I hope it happens but i doubt it. I doubt there will be enough interest from the croats across north america.
Definitely a great point of view.
The scenario:
Croatian football, much like everything else in the country, is irreversibly corrupt. These folks are to lie, steal, cheat and even kill within Croatia, and then the good ole diaspora is supposed to lend them support by paying admission to watch them on tour?
NO.
I wouldn’t pay a red cent to watch either of those clubs. Romanticism only goes so far. This isn’t the early ’90s.
I would go to the game in Toronto because the Toronto/Canadian Hrvati would show up in big numbers on both sides. New York and Chicago would be cool too but my first option would be to go to Toronto.
Hajduk vs Dinamo in the states? Why? Who would have an interest in watching such a thing? Pretty ridiculous, especially considering Hajduk’s financial situation.
That article has ZERO substance. There’s nothing behind it. A floated story full of half-assed suggestions….
Most importantly, Croatian immigrants and their children should not fall victim to such ideas. A select few are behind these ideas, and they yearn to make a quick buck.
On another note, neither team deserves that kind of support around the world. The clubs, much like everything else within Croatia, are an embarrassment.
If anything, Croatians world-wide should shun them. They don’t deserve better.
Tough for me to believe this is serious when they are unable to spell Chicago correctly in the poster.
Plus, if you have to offer a survey to determine interest, you know this wont happen. Asking a local soccer club that is relatively new (based on what I have heard from friends in the area) and has very limited support is not the way to go. If these guys were serious they would reach out to established organizations or churches in cities where hrvati live.
I’ve said this before, because Hajduk and Dinamo start the HNL season so early, it will be tough for them to go to the US/Canada for preseason because of the quick turnaround playing euro qualifiers already in July.
I’m sure every one here on this site would go, but we are the minority. The average Cro in the US/Canada is not going to travel unless that game is in their backyard.
Plus, who wants to hang out with the players as is mentioned. I guess the jock sniffing crowd would.
@Ante,
This is the first I heard of this and unclear how both teams would fit this in the current schedule. Definitely will catch this one in Toronto if it is true.
Just how you thought fala wasn’t hvala? Don’t worry troll, we know who you are. So cool. On another note,,,
Have any of you guys heard of this?!
http://www.index.hr/mobile/clanak.aspx?category=sport&id=690644
You yanks still trying to speak cro?
Can someone link the weekly highlights show?
I think we should rename NK Zadar in the standings to NK Bezigrad (Bjezigrad) because their players have disappeared so far this season.
Which leads me to one of the more comical chants I ever heard at a soccer game in Cro. This was courtesy of the Armada a few years back……… Pusi Zadre, tko te jebe, Hrvatska se srami tebe, Zadar bezigrad. Pusi Zadre tko te jebe, druga liga ceka tebe, Zadar bezigrad.
