“AC Milan are delighted to announce the signing of Nikola Kalinić from Fiorentina ACF on a loan deal with obligation to buy. The player has penned a 4-year contract through to 30 June 2021.”
The 29 year-old Croatian striker is making the move from Fiorentina to one of Italy’s most storied clubs. Although AC Milan have not been themselves the past decade, they are back on the rise. Juventus has dominated Serie A but Milan are making moves to take back the scudetto.
Kalinić scored 27 goals for Fiorentina in 68 matches since coming over from Dnipro in 2015. He has also had a resurgence on the Croatian national team, most recently scoring the equalizing goal against Spain in Euro 2016 against David de Gea.
Although the move is only a loan as of now, it looks as if AC Milan will buy Kalinić outright very soon. It’s a solid transfer as Kalinić has been successful in Serie A and knows the league. This will be the biggest club Kalinić has ever played for. AC Milan won their season opener 3-0 against Crotone.
