In case you missed it yesterday, the Serbia-Albania Euro 2016 qualifier in Belgrade was abandoned in the first half due to a pitch invasion. In one of the most bizarre events in sports history, a drone carrying an Albanian flag over the outline of Kosovo, implying Kosovo should be a part of Albania, was flown over the pitch in Belgrade, Serbia while the match was being played.
When a Serbian player pulled the flag down, all hell broke loose.
Albanian players came over to defend the flag and that’s when Serbia fans began to come onto the pitch, throwing whatever they could find at the Albanian national team. English referee Martin Atkinson immediately abandoned the match with Albanian players having to duck and cover to avoid being hit by projectiles as they ran across the pitch to reach cover in the locker room.
We all know that when it comes to that part of the world, former Yugoslav territories and Albania, things are still extremely sensitive, politically and culturally. And when you put two of any of these nations on the pitch, tension will be thick. In World Cup 2014 qualifying, both Croatia-Serbia matches went off without a hitch as away fans were not allowed to travel.
This is why.
There were albanians also in the christian coalition at the battle of kosovo. Why people think it was a pure serbian thing is beyond me.
The battle of Kosovo was fought and lost by an all-Christian coalition comprised of Serbs, Croats, Hungarians et al…
What you Serbian apologists always conveniently fail to mention is that some Serbs were already comprised and had switched sides. They fought with the Turks against that very same coalition. They became Turkish vassals.
The Serbian ruling dynasty even married into the Ottoman ruling dynasty (Carica Milica).
To say that Serbians fought valiantly against the Turks is Serbian mythology. Serbia fell rather easily, Bosna did as well, while Croatia never fully surrendered to the Ottoman Empire.
Once again, this needs to be stressed, the Turks settled Serbs/Vlachs/Cincars and others in Croatian territories that had basically been cleansed of Croats. That is why there are large swaths of Serbians in Bosna. That is also why there were areas of Croatia that had large Serbian populations.
The Serbian Orthodox Church enjoyed a special relationship with the Ottomans. Allowing them to flourish in what were once Croatian territories. Croats enjoyed no such privileges, as they were Catholic, “Papist,” and were deemed enemy # 1.
Vatrena, you know what’s up buddy.
Well…I don’t agree with the vast majority that has been posted on here. First of all, some of you need history lessons. I’m not Serbian, I’m a hrvat. BUT what some ignorant Albanian supporter did by flying that over the stadium in Belgrade of all places is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Kosovo IS SERBIA, PERIOD. That’s sacred land to them. That’s where thousands of Serbs were massacred and put on spikes by the Ottoman empire stopping the spread of Muslim faith into Europe. No matter what the west, or ultra nationalist Croats on here post that is FACT. All the blame for this incident falls squarely on the Albanian who did this stunt.

Prle my Teta once told me sta vise igras za govnima gore mirise. Scamper away to the burrow….
To what do I owe the kind words, clone?
Prle it means scum or cockroach…. Now go scamper away to your burrow….
@IvicA,
No, I will not be voting for Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.
I do, however, support any candidate that can beat the anti-Croatian usurper Ivo Josipovic.
@Windsor,
Hopefully Armada will take your advice, as I don’t debate folks that construct their views about peoples, history, politics or religion based on anecdotal “evidence” and subjective experiences compiled in the bars and cafes of Astoria, NY.
What’s a destorter?
well, i did not write that above……looks like another Ziva Istina wanna be
Albania was on track to win that game. The Serbs knew it and had to do something about it. They did it recently with Italy too.
@bobby
Exactly my point! Well done lads!
So, while many of you felt the need to choose a side, this occured.
http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/nogomet/bravo-nogometasi-srbije-i-albanije-pokazali-da-mogu-zajedno—356919.html
Prle the argument destroyer……. Hahahahahahahahahah! More like Prle the destorter. What a fucking joke!
when ivan ultras were arrested in italy for cousing trouble italian authority took him to the womans jail becouse the the jails in italy was to dangerous for him there were too many albanians w8 for him…….
@Armada
good post brother, prle knows shit or whatever he can google 🙂 and I noticed the same thing he has to resort to name calling or swearing, avoid him, not worth the effort
@ Ante
Solid post.
MelbCro,
Thanks for the compliments brate. I think the main reason that you are perplexed by this entire site (myself included) is because I can tell that you and I were brought up the same way and have been surrounded by like minded individuals; it became our norm. Now we are both open to a completely different set of individuals whom we feel have completely skeedaddled past mistake and slammed head first into faux paux topics with their thinking. So naturally both sides rebel. I bet you come here a lot and want to bash your head into a wall after reading what people write here. I know you do because I want to. But don’t give up. There’s hope.
Vatrena, just give it a rest, you are looking foolish. Everyone move onto the next topic.
Man I feel like many of you are the Croatian equivalent of the American south and the GOP
The Serb took the flag down so they can keep playing, and the Albanians started a shoving match. Lol unlike you I’m not insecure about my Croatianess so I don’t mind if I have Serbian friends, Muslim friends, etc. once again I am not saying the Serbs weren’t innocent I just think the blame needs to be shared. I am sorry your parents failed you in teaching you good morals and how to be a good catholic.
How as grabbing the flag “attacking them”? Your parroting the Serb media and would be better off on a Serb soccer site if one exists.
I just don’t understand why everything has to be so black and white? No I don’t support a greater Serbia and no I don’t think every Serbian baby is a cetnik. Both at fault, Albanians had balls but when the Serbians fought back they cried foul. And the Serbians should have had tighter security. Both at fault, easy as that.
Another thing to add. We’ve mentioned Albanias that joined our military, but lets not forget this as well. Shaqiri could have stayed away and said this doesn’t involve me, but he didn’t
http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/bayern-munichs-shaqiri-mandzukic-accused-of-saluting-croatian-war-generals-by-serbian-paper-blic/
MelbCro
Well said. That drone was brilliant. Loved it!
@ MelbCro
The drone idea was brilliant. And I can’t believe some people are sympathizing with the Serbs.
As I mentioned in my above post. There is nothing wrong with that Flag. As it shows the Albanian state in 1912 when it declared independence–prior to being carved up by Serbia.
For people to say that Flag is offensive or wrong, they are only perpetuating the Greater Serbia ideal.
@switzhr
Put me in my place? What? How?
I can appreciate a good prank as much as anyone, but if you can’t handle the reprocussions of your prank don’t pull it. Don’t bitch about oh we could have died blah blah blah. The Serb took down the flag and the Albanians attacked them for it. Shit happens
@ Prle
“bringing up “chest-thumping” and “who’s a bigger Croat pissing contest.” I don’t draw from that arsenal.”
however, once I posted a comment about Albanci….
“And then you have to read the posts of losers who claim they are Croatian, but are probably colonized half-Serbs “from” Rijeka… at worst, and vlueless Titoist Croats… at best.”
you IMMEDIATELY drew on that “arsenal” and questioned my “Croatianess” and call me a loser and lump me in the same boat as “Serbs from Rijeka” and Titoist Croats
and then
“You’re confronted with easily verifiable facts, but you’d rather revert to name-calling.”
didn’t this begin with you mistaking me for me being “a Serb from Rijeka” and a Titoist Croat.
Very familiar with your flock of sheep. God forbid anyone comments on something different from your world view and the name calling ensues:
“Jugo”
“Serb”
“UDBA”
If you would open your eyes, you would see we have much much more in common. But your flock can’t discuss, can’t chat.
“You think Albos are trash?”
“You must be a Serb/Jugo/Titoist/ on and on”
not
“Well why do you see it that way? How are the Albos in NY? Let me tell you about the Albos I’ve met, they’re great people”
That’s the sign of a chest thumper, “friend”. If someone doesn’t align with your world view, immediately go to low blows and name calling and accuse someone of being a “Serb from Rijeka” and proclaim that you speak “the true Croatian gospel”.
istina? gdje? ne ovdje moj prijatelj
bravo MelbCro for putting vatrena in his place, well done
Denis that is amazing, I love Key and Peele. I’m surprised they even know about the Macedonian v Albanian rivalry.
People that come from countries with histories of oppression are generally dicks. It’s in their blood.
My personal experiences with Czech’s and Slovak’s is a perfect example.
Another would be with the Irish.
Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
Here is how some of you characters sound like….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3ZHebCyMbM
..
Vatrena Cast you just don’t get it. You are probably a very boring an humourless person. The Albanians used a drone. I’ll repeat that a fucking drone. That is amazing. To pull something like that, to have the balls to do that in the Partizan Stadium. Man that is magic, and the reaction they got from Serbs is just priceless. Seriously buddy lighten up and have a laugh.
Okay i didn’t say the serbs did no wrong in this situation. Security should have been tighter for obvious reasons, but if provoked with such a thing how many of you would try to do the same thing? The albanians should have seen something like this coming when you pull a stunt like that.
I also did in not way say that every serb is a saint and that they are collectively amazing people. sad truth is all people kinda sorta suck. But I refuse to believe that all people out of any group are all bad and therefore i shall not judge someone until i know their character.
I have come across many shitty croatian people, and many shitty serbian people, but at the same time i have met some great and amazing croats and serbs.
In defense of that flag, that was an image of the Albanian state after the end of Ottoman occupation.
You see in 1912 Serbia decided to start a war against the Ottomans in order to create a “Greater Serbia.” Sound familiar?
Serbia and it’s allies succeeded in driving the Ottomans out of most of the Balkan peninsula. And Serbs being Serbs wanted to annex the remaining Albanian state for themselves and their allies.
However bowing to international pressure, they let the Albanian state exist (today they’re probably kicking themselves for this). But not with out taking large chunks of territory for themselves. This is why there is so many Albanians in Montengro, Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, and Greece. Not because they moved there, but because these nations took large swaths of Albanian territory after the First Balkan War.
Now fast-forward to 1991. Serbia is at it again, but this time it’s against Croatia. We all know how that turned out. Boy they picked the wrong people to mess with.
Ante B- you’re in that demographic just like I am. Well I’m missing it by a few years. However you my friend are not of the two idiots I spoke of in previous post. You seem like you know your stuff.
For the rest stop the chest thumping talk. Give credit where credit is due. The Albanians pulled a great one on those gypsies. And for anyone willing to lay their life for a Serb go ahead. But remember everything they’ve done. Including wars, at sporting events and even in this game they were chanting to kill Croatians.
I agree with Ante B, a guy that always talks sense. Its really bizarre seeing the hate for Albanians, maybe a lot of you guys in North America simply don’t have much contact with them? In Melbourne there is a sizable Albanian community and the relationship with Croats and Albanians is quite good. And why shouldn’t it be? There is absolutely no reason for any hate towards them.
And all you guys posting the hate were probably all high fiving each other like a bunch of jocks when Simunic made his nationalist statement. But then you have a cry about the Albanians making a nationalist statement, and not just that but doing in the face of the Serbs. You guys aren’t normal, maybe its the effects of obamacare taking their toll?
A Drone flies over Belgrade while the Cedos are playing Albania and all hell breaks loose for days on Croatian Sports!
-Word on the street is that Denis Svircic was at the controls. It was all designed to increase site volume and pump millions into his offshore accounts. You heard it hear first.
The Svircic we see these days is not even the original one from the early days, but a Rothschild replacement.
You heard it here first.
After you voted for Stanimirovic I had to!
Ante B told me that he was voting for Mirela Holy 😉
Doktore,
…jer je istina voda duboka.
Spremni
Lol I don’t even need to say anything, you are proving my point perfectly. Please keep going child.
Vatrena one of your serb buddies is in trouble he needs you to go and lay down your life for him, run along.
@say no to drugs
P.s. Thanks for proving my point perfectly…
@saynotodrugs
It’s people like you that are the problem, not me. You obviously missed the point of my post and that’s okay. I need to grow up? If judging a man by his character is childish then I never want to grow up. Educate yourself, go to college, learn something. No “utopian” or “yugoist” ideals here, whatever that might be. Treat people how you want to be treated, trust in God.
I would hate to be as feeble minded as you, you can’t possibly be happy with your life with so much hate in your heart.
Good luck to you, and ask yourself if you really want to teach your kids to hate someone?
Vatrena Cast vechi katolik od pape, you would die for all your serbian friends? That is the ultimate in cedo sniffing much worse than being a jock sniffer imo. Kid you need to grow up utopian ideals like Yugoism, communism and globalism never work because they don’t take into account basic human nature and the lessons of history.
@Doktor – I agree that Josipovic, Mesic and some others currently in charge are bigger theives and have done more damage than Tudjman and the HDZ could have ever dreamed of.
….but Tudjman miscalculated the Croatian public’s tolerance of what would happen when he mishandled the privitization effort.
..and this opened the door to Josipovic and the rest of the Commies.
National fever was at such a high pitch that nobody would have said anything if Tudjman took care of himself right after Oljua. He probably could have done it quietly if he really wanted to.
I never confused you for a chest-thumping Croat – ever. I view you more as a well-versed Croatian/Balkan area historian.
I’m HDZ all the way – but, I freely admit that there were mistakes made, especially around Tudjman’s final months…and it very very unfortunately negated the overall greatness that was achieved.
It’s ok to acknowledge short-comings of your own political affilation and not labeled as a traitor. A true historian wouldn’t be afraid to make that step.
Let’s hope the Croatian people give the HDZ a second try. There is nothing Croatian about this current administration.
Hey Prle,
Are you gonna vote for Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović?
She’s not doing too well in the polls
Could you imagine the outrage had Tuđman lived and afforded humself the kind of set-up that Stipe Mesić has (a traitor, mind you)?? Digs, a pension, security detail and an “office of the former president?!?!).
And you mention Tuđman? You’re nothing but a bunch of fucking fools.
While there is nothing more pathetic than a chest-thumping Croat that doesn’t know shit, only a know-nothing that accuses others of chest-thumping to compensate, can trump him.
It’s comparable to when a former Yugo accuses a proud Croat of being an Udbaš. To compensate.
You’re confronted with easily verifiable facts, but you’d rather revert to name-calling.
Žalosno.
A few of you are accusing me of something that I’ve never done. I’ve never belittled other Croats or measured their nationalism. If some of my responses are incendiary, they are for a reason
You’re launching stereotypical (stereotypical of Yugoslavs) aspersions; bringing up “chest-thumpong” and “who’s a bigger Croat pissing contest.” I don’t draw from that arsenal. The few of you, do, however. For some reason you feel threatened and start mentioning crap. Why?
Bobby V, Tuđman died with 100k deutschmarks in the bank. His sons live in their wives apartments.
All his opponents (Račan, Mesić, Josipović) have/had multiple properties in multiple properties and millons in offshore accounts.
Tell me, who got played for a fool?
NOTE: SANADER is udba. Installed to destroy HDZ and solidify the udba establishment.
@vatrena cast – Well stated. I think what you write about is how many of us decide which people to have in our lives – and which people to avoid or exclude .
What much of the discussion on here is about is the overall collective desires of people in one country versus another. That’s the difference.
I think we should have a “Most Croatian” top 10 list somewhere on this website that readers can vote other members onto.
You can update it every month – something like FIFA has for national teams.
@Vatrena cast cheers and blessings to you brate.
Side barbs aside, Doktor does know his shit. Kudos to his mostly insightful posts.
But when you get into the Croatian chest thumping game and who’s more Croatian, that opens up an entirely different can of worms.
I was raised from an early age to judge people by their character. With that being said I will never hate someone just because they are a Serb, Muslim, black, gay, and etc. I don’t give a flying fuck. In fact I don’t really hate people, but I will say that I have met Croatians “Catholics” that were the biggest scum of the earth. Needless to say I have also met Croatian Catholics who were amazing and caring people, who would never wish any bad on anyone. I have also made friends that are Serbian that I would die for and fight for, and I have also met Serbians that are scum. You can be the most Croatian Croat in the world but if you are a terrible person you are a terrible person. Call me what you want I don’t really care. I was raised catholic and I will always be catholic first, Croatian second. I pray that many of you can get over the hate in your heart. I hope that one day you can look at people because of their character and not because they are Serbian, Muslim, or whatever else you hate.
wait…. are we questioning the great Franjo Tudman? you must be a SUPER DUPER
Muslims are not the problem until they invite the Arabs and Turks in.
There is no doubt that Doktor Prle know his stuff. However, when I asked about the corruption question about Tudjman, I knew how he would respond. I’m ok with that – he’s a true Patriot.
Tudjman’s own daughter was arested and convicted of corruption.
Sepp, in the post above, nailed it right on the head. Tudjaman was the right person at the right time to lead Croatia to freedom – thank God for him.
….but his privitization and de-nationalization efforts afterwards should have been left for someone else to institute and oversee.
Armada & Prle- I don’t think either of you are Liberal…you should stop insulting each other.
this government got voted in because of the shit HDZ pulled in their last term…its unfortunate but its also a reality! soooo many people were disappointed by HDZ
Dude, you just need to get off the horse already and stick to nogomet…. Don’t give a shit one way or the other what you think about what I have to say. Two quick points and we can let this go:
1. How could I be a liberal drone when I’m calling out the left leaning, liberal base that is leading the country? Wait. Maybe I need to get my Poglavnik t-shirt on? Shit, knew I forgot to bring something to work.
2. I have a putovnica, but am not a citizen and therefore have not voted. YOUR true blue “Croatian patriots” voted in that scum, not me čo.
@Stipe
So, let me get this right, you prefer someone WHO KILLED your predecessors rather than a MUSLIM?
What if I told you that, even though Albanians are said to be 70 %, only 5% might be “real muslims” as in Middle East.
So either your mother was raped by Serbs or you are completely dumb.
To everyone, the match was filled on PURPOSE with Serbian Animals, I couldn’t see a family there, only animals aged 20-30 whose sole intention was to CAUSE trouble.
What if that flag was done on PURPOSE by Serbians? Seeing that they might have lost (when the match was interrupted Albania had 2 clear chances to score). So they couldn’t afford a LOSS against their BIGGEST rivals.
Next time Stipe, choose your words carefully. Do not hate an entire nation just because their religious. I’m Albanian and NO im not Muslim, so you hate me too? Come on now and give me a kiss (K) 😛 lol
Armada, you’re typical liberal drone. I don’t hate you, but I don’t care for what you have to say. Mainly because I’ve destroyed your “arguments” countless times. Not to you personally, but you share them with many Josipović voters, jugonostalgics and Tito-worshipers.
Now, while I do apologize for questioning your ethnicity, I can assure you that where I’m from there’s none of what you assert. However, Rijeka has been overrun by Serbs, so please forgive the sweeping condemnation.
Shouting: “Insecurity” doesn’t win an argument. Reminds me of all the homo-friendly mindless drones that accuse straight folks of being crypto or latent homosexuals if they oppose homo marriage. Nothing but Orwellian poppycock and double-speak.
I’ll stop speaking about Yugoslavs and Serbs that run Croatia (an easily verifiable fact) when you stop voting for them.
Živio.
I couldn’t say…the older Croatians still do attend but many like me have had to put their kids in catechism and church closer to where we live because its just way to far to drive. as far as the community goes, its slowly fading… we used to have close to 1000 people during Sunday picnics and our tournament (7 aside …teams divided by regions) at the picnic grounds…now, its only Mother’s day picnic that draws a crowd. yes, Croatians still do marry Croatians, but much fewer than before.the zabava’s are still pretty good and most of us rent the hall for Baptism’s, Communion, Confirmation’s…we also buy 1/2 or full pig for weekend get togethers…the Dom does a fabulous job at roasting the pig and the price is excellent $100 for half – $200 for the full pig!
I’d say the generation a tad older than me and my generation are probably still the strongest. we have our parties, BBQ’s, soccer bashes and general get togethers…the younger guys do as well but in much fewer numbers.
back when I played for the soccer team..we may have had 2 or 3 imports and we always had a very good team, today its opposite.
@Slavonac
I have been out to Vancouver on business but it has been a good 8 years since been to that beautiful city. I was at the Croatian church.
Just curious is it still going strong. Are Croats marrying Croats? How are the functions ie. zabava etc? Still large attendance.

not comment at all?
wait, where are we? oh, right. an internet forum.
I know you’re not referring to me because I proudly fall into that demographic.
I don’t think anyone here is chest pumping. My problem is more with the two from the previous post, one where he even used all caps to defend Serbs. That’s moronic to get that pissed and defend Serbs. In this situation I think our people should either congratulate the Albanians on what they did (where I fall), or not comment at all. Those two from the previous post, i’d be willing to bet were born in America in the 80’s and only thing they know is what they’re taught in American schools when it comes to world affairs (outside of Croatia itself).
Like others have said. Fuck the Serbs. They finally got it handed to them. Can’t believe people are feeling “sorry” for the Serbs.
They’re both lowlifes, but after what they did in the war, anything they get handed to them is well deserved….especially when they’re invoking “Hrvati” in their chants and we’re not even involved in this fucking game.
Fuck ’em.
Props to dr prle
Croatians and Albanians share a common bond in fighting Serbian oppression throughout history.
Don’t buy the BS that Albanians and Croatians are enemies. And beware…remember, it is a common Serb tactic to sow dissent between ethnic groups. “Divide and conquer,” is their modus operandi.
We are both allies in our struggle for freedom.
Armada87 – Bravo! These chest-thumpers are no better or worse than the Balkan garbage they constantly sermonize against…
@ bolan na seri
thank you for the kind words….
my comment might of been harsh (don’t have the best filter) but you know what?
Bosanci, Albanci, Srbi, Talijani, etc. in all honesty – don’t really care about them. I have friends from all those countries. Some bad apples, some great folks. But from an ethnic group perspective, could really care less.
Know the only group I give a shit about and care about?
Hrvati.
and when the chest thumping brigade comes on here, going on and on about Serbs/Jugos and now with this Albanci talk and then in the past with the ad naseum talk about Bosna….
know what WE (diaspora and folks in the domovina) need to concentrate on?
Hrvatsko and it’s people (both in the homeland and abroad).
Armada- there was an old saying my dad used to say…”pusti drek nek smrdi”…I’ve been around the Vancouver Croatian community my entire life and have seen several types of people come and go, the biggest idiots are those that have pounded their chest and claimed they are the biggest Croatians of all, we just laughed at those clowns. so many of them, even the older generation have had fights…I mean physical encounters over things I think are crazy. I’ve seen it first hand at our dom…we all used to hang out there and sometimes even the older men would fight…fist fights…I used to think it was funny but now I think why?
we had a guy here that used to chant Ante Pavelic’s name when we’d go out on the weekends…after the bars when we’d go eat at 2 or 3 in the morning, he’d find someone to fight and many times it was with a Croatian Bosanac or another Croatian he thought just wasn’t Croatian enough. today, that guy lives in Zagreb…he’s had the living shit kicked out of him a few times for his BIG mouth and claims that he is more Croatian than the next guy. a few years ago he was with his wife at a wedding, in Zagreb…and his political bs started again…and they kicked the living shit outta him…he’s hated in Vancouver and now in Zagreb as well.
its another mans weakness when he thinks he’s better than you and when he thinks he’s more of a Hrvat than you are, he most likely has a communist family history, like many do…but they attempt to pound that BIG chest…I’ve seen it tons of times dude…until you learn that they have a teta Desa or stric Aleks..they want you to believe they are all first cousins with Poglavnik himself!
Armada87, you for the most part are one of the more intelligent posters on this board. But there is reason to question when you said let them kill themselves, no skin off your back. What if Ademi, and I keep using him as he was an extermely high ranking general, but there were a ton that for in Cro against. But what if they had that same thought of no skin off of their back, let Cros and Serbs kill themselved?
That’s why some here are backing Albanians in what they did and love it that they pulled that off!! It was genius what they did to piss them off!!
The Croats as well as the Albanians as memebers of the Dinaric race. The real Turks were Asiatic nomads. Over time they incoporated many other races and tribes in their empire. Being a Turk does not always mean asiatic. The founder of their empire had hazel eyes a non-asiatic feature. The Croats were non Slavic in origin. As they came out of the east they picked up Slavic women and settled in their present home. There they mixed with the local population who were the remaining Roman elements.
@ Ziva
you know what’s funny, we take shots at the diaspora… and that’s fine, my Croatian isn’t that great, etc. etc.
so we should strive to become “real” Croatians…. like the ones in the homeland right? they seem to have their heads on straight and really know what being Croatian is all about, right? i mean they were born there, speak the language, can order food and drink at a kafic properly … right!??!?!
Well what do these ‘true Croatian patriots” do? They stock the sabor and vlada with Serbs and jugo loving scum. Ironic, ain’t it?
sorry, but I feel like us “stupid diaspora” might have some more brains cells than that…
lol
love it when people on here start questioning others ‘Croatianess’ – know what that screams????? INSECURITY.
but hey, I can play this game.
so there is a book (you can buy on Amazon) that details the genealogy of my mother’s island in the Kvarner going back to the 1500’s… prior to that they were in primorsko goranska going back another hundred years before that….
dad’s side has town records in Labin going back at least 500 years, with our last name also being the name of a town in Istra (Diminić – town name, Diminici – recently renamed Sveti Lovrec Labinski)
so while a TON of you (hi Doktor) are probably bastardized Serbs/Turks/Bosanci whatever, I know full well what I am genetically and don’t need to go on an internet forum and preach and thump my chest letting people know if they are Croatian or not.
and for those that do…. you my “friends” are the true LOSERS.
you’re welcome.
While I agree with most of what Dr. Prle says, have to disagree with your allegation that there was no corruption during Tudjman’s leadership. He definitely was aware of it, regardless of whether or not he directed it. He was the right guy for the independence movement, but the wrong guy to run a new country.
Well played Albania, well played (slow clap). Bravo.
Good on you.
Don’t understand the hate towards the Albanians.
If the Serbs, Greeks, and Russians came through our borders we can count on the Albanians. Who else could we trust? I would like to thank them for this wonderful memory with the drone. Remember George Kastrioti Skanderbeg!!!!!!!!
The non-croatian speaking diaspora hrvati are the biggest threat to Hrvatstvo……them and the commie-loving hrvati. Need to get rid of both. That is why I advocate for many of you non-Croatian speaking diaspora hrvati to learn the language, culture and history. Sitting on your computer wearing a cro jock sniffing jersey and cheering for the repka does not make you a hrvat……are you listening people?????
Love that term. “Titoist Croats” reminds me of Black Zodiac.
Doktor Prle, that’s right. These Americanized Hrvati need to learn a thing or two. Serbs started multiple wars with us and have always had a desire to take our land. We’ve always had Albanians come to our aid and help in our wars with them just like this last time. Yet we have idiots who are defending Serbs??
For you Serb defenders, are you ok with what the Serbs have done to our athletes in sporting events? The Serbs were doing the same thing to the Albanians, but the Albanians gave it to them in their pizde with that drone. Brilliant!
Rahim Ademi, a Kosovar Albanian was Ante Gotovina’s right-hand man, while Adim Ceku was his left… Ceku went on to be the first PM of the Republic of Kosovo. Ademi won his freedom in The Hague, thankfully.
Not to mention that Albanians were always aligned with Croats.
And then you have to read the posts of losers who claim they are Croatian, but are probably colonized half-Serbs “from” Rijeka… at worst, and vlueless Titoist Croats… at best.
And then you read these losers (yes, you, Armada – šaka jada)
Doktor Prle your knowledge of Croatian history and the current politics is really impressive, the visitors to this site really learn a lot from your posts, myself included.
Serbian Orthodoxy is a bizarre form of Christianity rooted in mysticism and the occult. It resembles a heresy more than anything else.
Serbs are more Turkish than Albanians.
Just to add, the counterfeit Serbian orthodox church is the progenitor of Greater Serbianism. It was never a church to begin with. It’s a political movement that is a carbon-copy of the Ottoman Turk socio-political order. “Whoever’s a muslim is a Turk, whoever’s a Pravoslavac is a Serb.”
Tuđman had $5 billion USD in foreign debt fighting and winning a war.
The Yugos have run a $70 billion USD debt since his death.
Do the math.
BRAVO, say not to drugs.
Respect to the Albanians, they did not allow Serbs to take the flag even when they were surronded by a stadium full of Chetniks. Anyone that sides with Serbs over Albos because of religion is a fool, firstly not all are muslim and in general regardless of religion most Albos are secular. Secondly the Serbian version of christianity is more akin to satanism than any version of christianity I am aware of. The Serb orthodox church has always been a big proponent of “Greater Serbia”.
*position
What corruption? If there was corruption, it was not directed by Tuđman.
Tuđman concerned himself with the political and diplomatic establishment of Croatia. Including winning the war.
The economy was his last concern. And while paying no attention to it, his economy was better. Economic health is tied to politics. Tuđman’s politics were smart. And thus the economy was good.
Everything else is lies of the opposition that lied to become the opposition and in result destroyed Croatia.
@ Doktor – Do you think that the corruption from Tudjman and his friends toward the end of his reign help bring about what we now have in Croatia?
Serbian extremists are basically free to run for office and get elected in Serbia. To be honest, no other political option exists in Serbia. That’s how the international community appeases and controls them. They beat četnik drums of war before election, then liberal-out when on office. That’s why Vučić is now hated in Serbia.
In contrast, Croats can’t get an honest patriot in office (not extremist or “ustaša”). The international community won’t allow it. That is an absurd injustice to Croats who justly won their independence from Serbian oppressors. The deck in the “region” is stacked against Croats.
The Serbs at least get to vote for what they believe kn. Croatians are stuck with communists that genuinely despise Croat independence and more often than not agree with the Serbian establishment.
Just to clarify, Vucic was a hard-line Serb who celebrated Serbian atrocities, banned any journalists from writing negative about Milosevic, stating he would do all he could to protect Ratko Mladic, etc.
He then did a complete flip, left the Radical Party for the Progressive Party, and is now saying a horrible crime was committed in Srebrenica, he felt ashamed of the Serbs involved and is now tackling corruption and crime in Serbia as wellas leading their effort to join the EU.
…thus the chant.
I guess Croatia is not the only one of the former Yugoslav republics who are led by politicians who do complete flips.
to all these serbian lovers if u love them so much go live in serbia first of all we Albanians did not start this at all from the begeing serbs said kill kill kill the shqiptares then throwing firecrackers, smoke bombs lighting shit on fire what do u think but any way wee took care of buissness in belgrade kicked some dirty ass serbian
Rebic at Spurs? Brozovic at Arsenal?
I don’t know if I like that.
Check this out, hahahaha!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G3E_QNuQCc
For those who don’t know. Vucic is Serbia’s ultra radical Prime Minister who was part of Seselj’s camp (how do these guys still get elected in Serbia, lol).
Ivica Kralj makes a cameo in the video.
Rebic and Brozovic to England?
http://www.espnfc.us/blog/transfer-talk/79/post/2090826/transfer-talk-takes-a-look-at-all-the-latest-newsgossip-and-whispers-from-across-europe
Ya gotta hand it to those Albanians, the whole drone-flag idea was ingenious. They gave unruly Serbian fans a taste of their own medicine.
And seeing 32 thousand Serbs going Apeshit over a flag is Priceless.
@ Ziva
To je to.
ISTINA.
@Croat
Really?
Kinda surprising considering that Turks and Albanians do not get along.
That flag that was being waved by the drone yesterday had two photos of anti-Ottoman Albanian nationalists on it. If anything, Serbs are more pro-Turkey than Albanians are.
I was reading somewhere that when Slaven Bilic’s club side meets their opposition in Belgrade that the Turkish fans will bring a big Albanian flag to the stadium just to show support and to piss of the Serbian players….
Bravo to the Albanians.
I rather deal with them than the Serbs.
And the bag of chips!
Damn that picture just gets better!..
Shit, look what I found while looking up that Albanian Simpsons episode.

Love Homer’s tatt!
Somewhere Adil is very proud!

Tosi- Croatians on this site that think like Croatians first know the difference. Those that are caught up in their adapted country of USA only know US foreign policy. They think all Albanians are Muslim scum. Now to be fair those from Kosovo and Macedonia need to give up extremist Isis sympathy and start acting like true Albanians. As your saying is, there is only one religion in albania and that’s Albanian. But that’s besides the point. Majority of Croatia sides with Albania on this and it was brilliant.
Siptari! Siptari! Srbija should be kicked out. Security was unacceptable.
@ Nikola
Yes you were blessed to be born and educated in Hrvatska.
Nema nečemu .
Because Bosna was part of the Croatian kingdom for centuries. Because Bosna was never a part of any Serbian state in history. Which makes Republika Srpska totally illegitimate.
Nikola Tesla isn’t claimed by Croats. Nikola Tesla was born in Croatia. Had no beef with his homeland and didn’t want to conquer Croatia for Serbs or Serbia.
Although an ethnic Serb (something that is disputed), Nikola Tesla had very little do with Serbia. In fact, I don’t think he every visited the place. If he did, he did rather briefly.
Dobar Vecer svima! I’m a pravoslav Hrvat of course! My goodness this site is full of rocket scientists! If Bosnia is fully Croatian looking for a home, then why isn’t it correct to say Macedonia is Southern Serbia? Or why isn’t Kosovo Serbian? Being a scientist of course {numbers are important}, who killed more defenseless civilians… Ustase of WWII or Chetniks in the war of the 90’s? Just asking? Hope I didn’t disappoint or upset anyone since you love to claim me as one of your own… Maybe just call me a self hating Hrvat!
The Serbs got PUNK’D better than that peder Ashton Kucher could ever do.
Doesn’t matter what your political views are, that stunt was awesome.
Also, crazy respect to the Albanian football players who were busting heads and didn’t back down from anyone, despite being in enemy territory.
REALLY looking forward to watching the match in Tirana.
Thanks Tosi well said particulary the animal part, loved that.
I just love watching the Serbs continue to embarrass themselves nothing gives me greater pleasure. Watching the Serbs is like a circus. You have to wait for it but you know if youkeep warching there’s always going to be a special moment.
Those genetic defected ass clowns are priceless!
Doktor Prle, you speak the truth unfortunately.
Regarding the game….Svi su govno.
Nice to read good comments from Hrvati about Albanians (at least some of them).
That’s why I came to this site, to try and read comments and I wasn’t dissapointed.
The Serbs are animals that attack opponents in numbers while at the same time portraying themselves as victims.
But yesterdays they got a brilliant provocation which they will never forget. In the middle of Belgrade, above the heads of ultras and chetniks the Albanian flag was flying proudly. No words to describe it.
1912 – The Albanian flag was raised in Vlore (independence)
2014 – The Albanian flag was raised in Belgrade
And Croats, never forget that we have a common enemy. And from all the people in former Jugoslavia, I trust only Croats when it comes to dealing with the animals ie Serbs.
“Za dom spremni!”
@Bobby V. thank you for posting on Simunic. Love it.
As I mentioned yesterday if the host nation is unable to provide security and something as embarrassing as yesterday happens where even today CNN ran a clip mocking them. Pts have to be deducted, they failed miserably and this pattern continues of violent crowd disturbance. Remember last year with the English in Serbia and the fighting on the field.
Amazing how people on this site want to say they were equally at fault, same people who support josipovic and jovanovic. Some things never change here. Sad.
@ Self Hating Hrvati
Majke Boze!
One thing for the western media to cosign on Byzantin duplicity, now we have Hrvati forwarding Serbian agenda?
No wonder when a player has an off day we cry bloody murder.
We say ZDS and we are Ustashe.
Serbi burn our flags and write Vukovar in Cyrilic and they are given a pass.
I am Soul Champion at heart ma ne moj pizdari.
FYI – ALL OF BOSNIA IS CROATIAN.
Just filled with Serbs running for their lives and muslimani who took Self Hate to a new level.
I say bring them back into the fold.
Serbs are Serbs and Croatians are Croatian. The rest are just confused.
Love to know where some of the pravoslav hrvati are from?
No worries we all lose our way at times.
VRATI SE KUCI!
There’s a lot they either don’t know or don’t care to know.
Beside being a special-needs people, Croatians also have the “fortune” of being ruled by Serbs at the highest levels of government and media to this very day.
Every other people in South Eastern Europe has their shit together and can identify their national interests. Croatians? They win a war of independence and then fork over their freedom to Yugoslavs, half-Serbs, Serbs and “liberals” that stand with everything and everyone, but hate Croatia.
It’s for these very reasons that Josipovic can be president of the country and Milanovic can be prime minister. Neither of them are ethnically Serbian, but politically they are. While their cabinets are full of Serbs and the type that hate Croats.
Like Hodak said: “A special-needs people.” Politically illiterate to the point of retardation.
@Ante B. – didn’t know that – Novi Sad is pretty far east of Vukovar. Nice fortress there.
Side note: did you guys know that Petrovaradin at one point was more than 60% Croatian?
@Slavonac – well said
I mean it’s comical that everyone is sticking up for the Albanci.. maybe I’ve just had bad luck, but they are the crnci of Europe…. let them kill each other, no skin off my back
@Stipe – Where did I write that I was on Albania’s side?
I’m still laughing about the Serbs being punked by probably the least technologically developed country in Europe (which makes this even more funnier) and really don’t care enough about choosing who is in the right over Kosovo.
Surprised you are.
When was the last time you heard a Serb sympathizing for any Croatian cause or conflict?
So you in your own words “I hate Serbs in general, but, they are Christians, and they should have Kosovo.”
Anything else?
Dude’s all worked up over Kosovo, yet the Serbs tried to steal ancestral Croatian lands while denying Albanians basic human rights. The Serbs lost Kosovo but gained 49% of BiH.
Do you not see the hypocrisy of the Serbs?
It’s for reasons like this that Zvone Hodak calls Croats a “special needs people.”
@Stipe
Why are you so worked up on Albania/Serbia that you have to go all caps on us. chill dude.
and fuck serbia and their kosovo situation.
Picking Serbs v Albanians is like choosing between Ebola (Serbs) and HIV (Albanians). At least there is a workable cure for HIV, so I’d have to go with the Albanians for now.
@ Bobby V
Yea when it comes to the Albania-Serbia situation. YEA I AM ON SERBIA’S SIDE. I HATE SERBS IN GENERAL. BUT SERBIA WAS RIGHT IN THE KOSOVO SITUATION. TALK ALL SHIT YOU WANT BUDDY, BUT YOUR ON ALBANIA’S SIDE RIGHT? GO AHEAD, LETS GO MUSLIMS BOBBY V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha
Stipe, I was at the Cro – Jugo game back in the day. No way security lets anything like this happen. They have their orders, and they take care of shit. Remember what happened when Jarni got grabbed by the balls? People were throwing all kinds of crap on the field. I saw lighters, flares, cell phones and chairs flying. But not a single person dare try to get onto the field for that match.
Bobby V, that’s exactly why I’m glad the Albanias did what they did.
When we played them they burned our flag in Beograd and held up signs of Vukovar in Cirlica, our politicans said they didn’t notice and didn’t hear anything disrespectful to Croatians.
Even in yesterday’s match they were chanting to kill Croatians, even though we had nothing to do with the game.
Hats off to Albanians. They always say Albanians remeber everything and will never forget. Serbs were tough in Italy burning the Albanian flag. I bet you won’t see one Serb come anywhere near Albania try to do that during the game. The Albanians had nuts, nuf said.
And for those backing the Serbs saying they were provoked. Watch the game. As Croatians, we should all be fuming at the stuff they chanting against us……then again if you support Josipovic and Jovanovic you didn’t hear a thing
Stipe,
Have you ever been to a game in Croatia? There is no way that would ever happen in Croatia, especially Zagreb.
@ Croatia vs Antwerp
I agree with you on some points. But than again, the Albanians provoked the situations. You have to remember the security were all Serbs. So naturally they were most likely offended as well when a drone flying over the field saying GREATER ALBANIA or whatever it said.
You say that Croatia’s security would have reacted differently than Serbia’s security???? Let’s say during the match against the Serbs in Zagreb for the World Cup qualifiers that a drone flew over Maksimir waiving a Serbian flag or saying something derogatory towards Croatians. You honestly think that the Croatian security would have done anything different?
The Croatian security would have let the fans come onto the field and probably would have helped them beat up the Serbian players lol.
I agree with you that security should have been a little bit more prepared. But who would imagine that something like that happening during a soccer game. A drone flying over the field waiving an Albanian flag and landing on the pitch ? Any other security , except for the United Sates, would have NOT BEEN PREPARED. Not Germany , France, Spain or any other major countries.
Plain and simple , it was the Albanians fault. That’s that.
@Armada87
Well, part of your problem is that you live in the shit hole that is known as NYC. And you have to interact with animals on a daily basis.
I don’t hate Albanci as a whole….
But the Albos in NYC are like a cross between guidos and crnci. Thinking they are all hood and tough, leasing a BMW when they live out of a shithole in the Bronx, just a gaudy style of dress and jewelry, short fuses, the type to go to a club/bar looking to cause beef. Girls are basically sheltered until the age of 18 then they go out and whore it up. Just really weird customs and way of living compared to the rest of Balkanci I’ve dealt with in NY.
I can go to a cafe/bar with a Serb, Bosniak, Montenegin, etc. and bullshit, have a regular convo, throw some low blows, have a few laughs, talk nogomet and then go home. Not sure you can do that with a lot of Albanci…. at least in NYC.
@Stipe
The Serbs have the Turks to thank for their expansion into Croatian lands.
Steer clear of Serbian mythology. Serbs were the most loyal Turkish vassals. They’ll have you believe otherwise, but the truth is that the Serbs have largely themselves to blame for Ottoman occupation. The Serbs profited from the empire, every other people – lost.
@Stipe – So, when it comes to the Kosovo issue, you are on Serbia’s side? That’s right where they want you my friend. Take candy from a stranger much?
The least you could do is to give them credit for not going after the mascot.
In a nutshell both sides at fault. Two wrongs don’t make it right. They should either replay in an empty stadium or give both teams a loss and zero points.
…the full chant was “Kill Croatians so the Albanians won’t have any brothers”
http://www.dnevno.hr/sport/nogomet/135074-simunic-josipovicu-hocete-li-reagirati-na-skandiranje-srpskih-navijaca-ubij-hrvata-da-siptar-nema-brata.html
Fucking Simunic is a legend. He is now calling out Josipovic to comment on Serbian fans chanting “Kill Croatians”.
Let’s see how he responds after the beatdown he gave Simunic for the Za Dom Spremni incident.
And when it comes to historical dispute. When the Ottoman Empire nearly took over all of Europe. The historical battle of Kosovo in 1389 when the Serbs were highly outnumbered by the Turks, a shit load of Croatian soldiers came by to fight ALONGSIDE THE SERBS to fight the Turks. Croatians and Serbians hated each other even back than, but it didn’t matter, you know why? It was a matter of faith. We’re Catholics and Serbs are Christian Orthodox and the Albanian and Turks are Muslim. It was a matter of religion and faith.
The real culprit here is Serbian security. They knew full well this was a politically charged atmosphere which could explode at any moment.
They should have secured the perimeter around the pitch with Riot squads.
As soon as a drone was flying over the pitch, security should have ordered the players to leave the field. For their safety. And then they should have dis-enabled the drone.
Instead Security was dumb and incompetent. This wouldn’t have happened in Croatia because or security-military-roit squads are better organized.
What happened between Albanian and Serbian players wasn’t major. A couple of cards could have resolved the issue and play would have continued. It was the Security’s fault for allowing fans on the pitch that was the problem.
when I saw the hi-lites I noticed a Serbian stadium worker chasing down players, I saw fans get onto the field and throw punches and I watched as that criminal Serb was on the field (isn’t he supposed to be banned?) while the cops stood by and did nothing. this was not only embarrassing and ridiculous, it was criminal on all levels!
Serbia deserves to be fined heavily for not providing a safe environment at an international match, regardless of a flag incident or not. there are no excuses to not provide safety, if they can’t do that, they aren’t qualified to host anyone.
@ Ante B
Albanians helped and protected Croatia? A lot more of Croatians were loving in Kosovo until the Albanians kicked us out. Just because Kosovo is 90 percent Albanian. It doesn’t mean it should be its own country or part of Albania. I live in a town In northern New Jersey, it is probably about 95 percent Mexican, so should my town be part of Mexico than? Lets see Mexico try too take back Texas from the U.S because a shit load of them live I’m Texas? You think America will sit down and let them do that? HELL NO. I defended the Serbs when all that shit with Kosovo went down in 1999? The U.S. Government defended The KLA which is a terrorist organization. I am not talking about Ustasi or Cetnini, I am talking about the KLA “Kosovo Liberation Army”. They are not as big or as well organized like ISIS or Al-Qaeda. But they still are a terrorist organization. So yea when it comes to Serbia – Albania matter, I am on Serbia’s side.
Samo se Jugoslaveni mogu solidizirati sa Srbima. Nikakvi Hrvati.
Hrvati su uvijek na strani Albanaca, jer Hrvati znaju tko je u pravu u tom povijesnom sporu. Albanci, naravno.
Nije ovdje rijec o vjeri. Ovdje je rijec o pravdi. Albanci su pravedni u svojoj borbi, isto ko Hrvati. I zato uvijek i svagdje podrsku Albancima.
I to posebno protiv Srba.
Tko jebe i jedne i druge!
*experience
Albanians are assholes. I’ve had that expereince my whole life with them and I was hopeful I was going to meet good apples but nope…all assholes!
^^ that’s me
I don’t have anything against Albanians but they attacked first. I have nothing against any group of people, everyone has their bad apples and good people.
I don’t understand the hate of Albanians. Not only were they one of the first to defend and protect Croatia but they are going through the same struggle we did. I have the pleasure of knowing a lot of Hrvati from Kosova as there are tons of them in Zagreb; you might know them as Janjevci. For me personally, I support them. The provocation itself was genius and the Albanians stood their ground when attacked. Svaka im cast!
@stipe
I’m with you with everything except one thing. The Serbs should have had security a little more tight so fans don’t rush the field, so they will probably be fined for that aspect. But hell the Albanians attacked the Serbian player for taking down a flag that was interfering with the game and not to mention flying the drone in the stadium. I do wonder how uefa will handle this.
Zoki i ostala banda,
Pitam vas gospodo dali ste gledali utakmicu izmedu Hrvatske i Srbije gdje su srpski navijaci palili hrvatsku zastavu?
Jeste moj kurac.
S postovanjem,
Ante B.
Fuck Albania. Dirty Muslims. Why the hell would they pull some shit like that in Partizan stadium? Those fucking Grobari are nuts. They are just provoking the Serbs. Albanians are classless people. That’s all that is. When it comes to the Serbian Albania thing, I believe that Kosovo is suppose to be part of Serbia. Just because 90 percent of Kosovo is Albanians, it doesn’t mean shit. All the Serbs moved out of Kosovo because they did not want to live with the Albanians.
I know I’m going to here shit here about me being a “Serb lover”. That is not the case. Serbia should not get punished by FIFA for this. When Serbia came into Zagreb too play against Croatia back in March 2013, did any Serbs fly drones into Maksimir with a cetnik flag? No because they do have some class.
And when it comes down to it , it doesn’t matter how much I hate Serbs IN GENERAL, they are still Christians.
Stop with the false analogies.
Historically, Albanians have done little or nothing to Serbs, while the Serbs have continually massacred Albanians, Croats, and others…
In this particular case, FULL BLAME is placed on Serbia. It was there match to secure. They failed miserably.
Once again I ask, if something like this happened in Croatia and Serb flew in a yugo flag And all hell broke loose would you guys blame croatia or the Serbs?
I’m sorry but what were the Albanians expecting? You poke a sleeping bear you’re bound to get mouled. I agree the fans shouldn’t have jumped on the field so Serbian security did fail but the Albanians bit off more than they can chew.
Oh, by the way, almost forgot…
SMRDLJIVA RIJEKO, PUNA SI SRBA….
The best entertainment was watching Serbian ultras get the shit kicked out of them by Albanian players.
how UEFA didn’t ban away fans is beyond me… as I mentioned in an earlier post, not banning away fans was just begging for fines/point docking. What were they expecting? If you ban away bans for a Serbia-Croatia or a BiH-Serbia, you do the same for that game.
Sad but watching the player catch the chair to the noggin and then seeing the Albo’s run into the tunnel like little girls is something straight out of WWE. Solid entertainment all in all!
Kad sredimo nase stadione, tek onda mozemo govoriti o nasim dragim susjedima u regijonu.
Dronom je upravljao Papa Franjo.
Prestanimo vikat ustaske parole u Hrvatskoj pa ce Srbi valjda prestati paliti hrvatska veleposlanstva po Beogradu i sire.
Ocistimo pred svojim pragom prije nego kritiziramo susjede u regiji.
Pitate me o neredima u Beogradu? A sto reci?
One of the most amusing incidents of football history.
