ONE MAN TO START A REVOLUTION
So what have the Bad Blue Boys been doing to keep sharp since their boycott of Dinamo Zagreb? Well, they’ve gone political.
According to Croatian police, the BBB joined the Croatian Facebook Revolution on Saturday near Markov Trg in Zagreb following a peaceful protest by Croatian war veterans. Earlier in the week, 25 year-old Ivan Pernar lead the first of the so-called Facebook protests to demonstrate against HDZ; the current ruling party of Croatia, in an attempt to get citizens out on the streets to drive HDZ out of power.
“Headed by the Croatian Democratic Union for 16 years, Croatians have seen their economy virtually destroyed by flawed policies of privatization, cronyism in government and bribery and corruption at the highest and lowest levels.
Wednesday night Pernar posted a private message on his Facebook page which he had received from the ruling party, bribing him with a “successful” future if he was willing to call off the demonstrations. The message has been reprinted in newspapers around the country exposing the bribe.
Only last Sunday Pernar had protested with only 3 other protestors and had a following on his Facebook group of roughly 5000 people. That number grew to over 17,000 by Thursday night. Thousands of messages of support have been flooding his Facebook page, with the next demonstration planned for Monday at 6:00p.m,” reported CNN.
BBB JOIN IN ON THE REVOLUTION
Members of the BBB were on hand in numbers to protest alongside 1,000 fellow demonstrators. Flares, bottles and even bricks were thrown at police, who created a stronghold around the Sabor (Croatian Parliament) in the event of a violent break out. Index.hr brings us the complete picture of what transpired in Zagreb on Saturday.
BBB BACK IN ACTION
Reports also state that a BBB member spit on Vukovar legend and war veteran Branko Borković, who was requesting the crowd to remain peaceful during the demonstration.
“We condemn any stories that have appeared in the media accusing the BBB of spitting on Vukovar legend, Branko Borković, and are thinking about a lawsuit’. Also, we should take a look inside the political establishment that has impoverished citizens and young people. Instead of offering a better future, they give us corruption, bribery and lies. It’s not true that the police tried to find the true culprits in a subculture of young people”, said an unidentified BBB representative.
Now the question is:
DO THE BBB REALLY CARE ABOUT THE POLITICAL INJUSTICE IN CROATIA OR ARE THEY JUST HAVING HOOLIGAN WITHDRAWALS?
ROZALIJA KUČKO (MISS CSR) EXCLUSIVE WITH IVAN PERNAR
NICE i say we try and get a protest going in the USA. Who wants to make the facebook group? Hell, we can even blame it on the BBB.
Pernar is a psychotic tool in the pay of SDP/HNS/IDS (The Yugoslav Communist/Liberal Capitalist/ Regionalist front).

jadna hrvatska
Time to get rid of all the ex-yugo commie trash that is still in power in Croatia. SDP, HDZ are both terrible. Hopefully the youth of Croatia will eventually steer the country in the the right direction or its going to be quite a shit show. Yea HDZ was good during the war and was happy that they got the job done when it needed to be done, but the wars long gone and HDZ is just a corrupt as the rest of 'em
just my dvi centi
Stimac suspended for one month along with the other 24 in the savez who attended last week's "re-vote". Technically, they broke a few ordinaces in the savez guidelines. It's a strategic move, nothing more or less. Since Markovic claims the "re-vote" reults are invalid (they are), the rules requre the savez to suspend these guys for a month.
The next thing to look out for in this whole mess is when the savez meets again in April. We might have some fireworks at that meeting.
AB,
I'm always proud of the BBB, and always support them instead of picking and choosing.
Now, everyone else:
Stimac has been suspended by the HNS and Mamic was fined 25,000 today. Anybody know any more information?
@ Ante B
Be proud that BBB was there to help make Croatia better place.
Right now, Croatia is run by organized crime and mafia. People in politics just take care of their own skin. I do not have an answer, but current situation is terrible.
AB
croatia has been warned by uefa
http://www.uefa.com/uefa/aboutuefa/organisation/president/news/newsid=1600683.html
What is going on in Egypt or Libya is not even close to what is taking place in Croatia.
The other two countries are/were run by dictators. Croatia is not.
Vote these current fuckers out of office, it is simple as that. But, be careful what will happen next.
The latest protests led by the branitelje are encouraging (to mee), but remember the branitelje will vote for the "right" and the majority of citizens in Croatia will not. New elections will fragment the "right" and SDP will come back in power.
In this case the BBB, or Torcida (for the next event that happens in Split), get no benefit of the doubt. There actions, not by the majority but by the ignorant minority, get them in the headlines. We know its not fair, but that is the way it works.
If there is violence or idiotic activity taking place in ZG or in Split, I can gauren-damn-tee you that BBB or Torcida are involved.
those yugo's in the sabor would sell their mother's for half price, let alone screw the country over to fill their pockets. there needs to be an egypt/libya style revolution in cro, enough corruption and bullshit. heads need to roll and soon!
I love it… the Facebook Revolution has arrived in Croatia! It's time to drive these criminals from office both in the HNS and the Sabor!
It's time to stop sending our soldiers to Hague and drive these criminal gangsters running the country from power. Rusi Bandu!
CSR Insider:
His Dinamo sal was at the dry cleaner's.
For sure it was unfair. You're grouping them altogether. The BBB have denied being associated with the protest in any way. One of the guys was wearing a Bayern sal, does that mean that Bayern's fans were involed and became political?
@ Ante BBB,
The answer to your first question, 'yep'.
Facts: BBB were there. Look at all the pics. Dinamo scarves covering their faces. Do you disagree with that?
I also spoke with a few journalists from Zagreb this weekend. They all said that the BBB were there just to take a shit on the police.
Obviously I cannot disclose the source, but these are primary sources from the heart of the matter.
I honestly don't care for Hajduk, Dinamo or the HNL for that matter. The league doesn't deserve respect in it's current form. The bias you think we have here at CSR is ridiculous.
It happened. Deal with it.

Based on all the above information, do you still believe the 'BBB withdrawals' question, because it was a question and not a derogatory remark, was unfair?
Also, two facts:
1) The BBB as an organization have denied any role in this demonstration. The people who were involved in the riots happened to be part of the BBB. Do we honestly not understand the difference or are just ignorant?
2) The demonstration was organized by the UHB 1990-1996 RH.
3) The 'BBB' you guys jumped on wasn't spitting on the Borkovic, but rather on the cop behind him. Here is his testimony:

I thought we were better than this as a site.
"DO THE BBB REALLY CARE ABOUT THE POLITICAL INJUSTICE IN CROATIA OR ARE THEY JUST HAVING HOOLIGAN WITHDRAWALS?"
Brane, even you can't be that stupid or blind to see the true meaning behind that sentence. Hooligan withdrawals?
Of course it is fine for CSR to mention developing news but why not take the stance of someone with balls and not the majority of Croatian newspapers who primarily put the blame on the navijaci and see them as public enemy #1?
Hooligan withdrawals? Really? Sramota.
WTF is going on with the world?…..
oh right 2012. Live it up gents.
The world is changing fast, and if both sides don't pull their head out of their asses, and talk like real people, then we're going to see more.
@Ante B… i don't think anyone at CSR accused the BBB of doing anything. The "police commissioner" was quoted as saying the BBB were the culprits. The quote was repeated in most of the media.
As reporters of Croatian Soccer, do you think its best for CSR not to mention developing news.
This subject is the main headline an news lead in Croatia. As reporters of Croatian Soccer, do you think its best for CSR not to mention developing news.
And make sure you don't get wood every time you see BBB in a negative light.
The 15,000 branitelji on Jelacic plac were demonstrating as well. If out of those 15,000 branitelji, 200 of them were Hajduk supporters, would you write "Torcida overtake Trg Ban Jelacic?"
Vec znam odgovor.
It sounds like big things are on the brink in Croatia. However, I'm questioning their intentions. Is this mini revolution directly in response to Egypt and Libya or has this been in the works for months?
I agree with JP. Open dialogue. Why let these kids tear down our capital when you can bring them in more mature debate. Everyone hides behind their cell phones and laptops these days. Have a proper face to face.
@ Ante BBB,
Another ultra-sensitive Dinamo remark. BBB were there. End of question. We don't know how many.
If it was anything else soccer related in this story, CSR will report it. Don't be so sensitive every time the D word is brought up. Isuse!
Ms. CSR!
Ms. CSR!
Ms. CSR! 🙂
Obviously some disaffected youth in Hrvatska, if Kosor et al., were smart they'd engage these kids in a dialogue… hear them out.
If this happened in Split, and some of the guys who were caught happened to be Torcida, would you blame and question the entire Torcida organization as a whole?
This happened in Osijek, and some of the guys who were caught were Kohorta, would you blame and question the entire Kohorta organization as a whole?
Fact: the guys who were arrested were Dinamo supporters. If three of them were Rijeka supporters, would you question the Armada being part of it as well?
I found this article unfair and full of spin.
Once and for all, there are navijaci and huligani of all clubs. You cannot group the two together.
I did not like this article at all. The interview with Pernar was incredible. Svaka cast Rozaliji, pardon, Ms. CSR.
Sve ostalo, racku.
Hey, the citizens of Cro elected these people into govt. They can bitch all they want, but they were all elected democratically.
My old man, like most of the diaspora, was a big HDZ guy since 1990. But, they have done nothing but still since. Franjo was sick the last few years of his life and everyone got what they wanted, there was no checks and balances. Sanader was worse. So, what is the other option. SDP and the "reformed" commies. They steel less than HDZ, but their political policies are worse than HDZ. So, pick your poison.
Jebiga….enough about politics.
Joining the EU would be DEATH for Croatia, there would be an influx of Africans and Muslims over night.
The biggest problem with Croatia is corruption. A few years ago I had a conversation with Bubalo who owns a huge chicken farm in Croatia and wanted to use the chicken poop as fuel for electricity. So many people wanted to be paid off he said to hell with it.
Personally I would love to move back with a few million dollars in my pocket, start a business, but for what? To have to pay off some ex-communist in bribes to get my permits?
Screw that business. I'll have to call my cousin in Zagreb and see what's going on.
God Bless Croatia and hopefully some good will come of this.
Mishko
Osijek followed with demonstrations as well, I don't think it's just BBB acting up.
The whole issue of laziness can only go so far, our government and economy is shit right now, something needs to change. I would love to live in Croatia but looking at it realistically I do not see an opportunity there. I miss the culture, traditions and most of all the humanity of people that is nearly nonexistent here.
The European Union sure as hell isn't the answer for us, but that seems to be the only way out. I'm not claiming that I know it all, far from it I hate politics as a matter of fact; but I'm glad the youth is being proactive. Makar nisu u kavani cijeli dan 😛
dr
the spit on a war hero and complain about no work. all the youth does in croatia is do drugs. we are lazy people.
