CroatianSoccerReport’s newest friend, Australian-born Croatian Andrew Bogut, is out for the rest of the season due to a freak dunk Saturday night which appeared to dislocate his right elbow when he landed. The Milwaukee Bucks are headed to the playoffs and have been on a hot streak as of late. Our thoughts are with Bogut as he rehabs the elbow. Although he is out for the rest of this NBA season, hopefully Bogut can recover in time to play for Australia in the FIBA World Basketball Championships held in Turkey later this year.
CAUTION: MAY MAKE YOU CRINGE.
HERE’S WHAT ANDREW BOGUT HAD TO SAY TO HIS FOLLOWERS ON TWITTER:
I have the best support and fans. thank you all. I will bounce back from this! Please keep supporting us, its a team game! Go Bucks!
Ps tweeting with my left hand is almost as painful as my injury…almost.
@Amareisreal should not take any blame. It was a freak of a thing that happend. Full stop. Amare is a good sport.
@BJ3nnings3 wanna swap arms?
TRUE CLASS.
On March 17th, 2010, CSR sat down with Andrew Bogut in an exclusive interview.
HAPPY EASTER AND SRETAN USKRS TO PRVA GENERACIJA AND ALL OF CSR’S FOLLOWERS WORLDWIDE!
Mirosevic was part of the Chilean national team for several years. He is an ok player. He is close to retire.
There are several cases of Croat descent South American players. I.e. till a couple of years the Peruvian national team had a solid defensive midfielder with a last name Ciurlizza (is latinized, the original is Curlica) and in the 70's there was this super famous Peruvian player called Challe (latinized, the original es Cale). I could keep going with several examples…
Has anyone heard of this Croatian that plays for the Chile National Team.

How many more cases are there out there like this.. bizarre..
re: bogut
he had a successful surgery today. this is from jsonline:
Bogut undergoes surgery: Bogut underwent successful surgery on his fractured right hand on Monday, Bucks general manager John Hammond said in a statement.
The surgery was performed by doctors Michael Gordon and Curt Crimmins at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin.
Bogut is expected to need up to six weeks to fully recover from surgery before he can begin the rehabilitation process.
@ the golden child
diehl is a croat from the south side of chicago. he still hangs out with the croatian buddies he grew up and went to school with.
@ TheGoldenChild
That would be David Diehl you are talking about, starting left tackle of the New York Giants. Here is his official website:

Notice anything interesting?
A piece was done on him a few years ago by another Croatian-American newspaper. He talked about his tattoo. He is German on his fathers side and Croatian on his mothers.
Just pulled this from the interview:
My grandmother married Grandpa who was Ante Bekavac from small village Bekavci near Lovrec in Imotski, Dalmacija, Croatia. My father Jerry who passed away in August was hundred percent German on both sides.
Here is the rest of the interview.

On another note with branching off into other sports. Isn't there a sprinkling of Croats in the NFL. I know there is one on the Giants, because I always see the huge grb tatoo on his arm. Would be sweet if you guys could do an article or something that focuses on Croatians in prominent sports around the world. I know it's a soccer website, but it could be like a once a year article or something. Just a thought.
Feel really bad for Bogut. But I think I'm the one that's been hurt the most here. Andrew was on my fantasy roster, and the best center on my team. He not only got his season ended, but ended any chance that I had at winning any money this season. Me = 0 Andrew = Millions
@Ziva
Why not Medvescak? Many of you get excited about the HNL teams, and they are 3rd tier in Europe. What's the difference?
At least the peeps in Zagreb are excited about Medvescak, as their playoff games sold out in minutes.
Re: Cro Cop, it would be interesting to hear what he has to say, as he is much more than just a fighter (politician, international icon etc. )
Also, likewise with Miletich. He's spawned a legion of successful fighters.
MMA…i don't really follow it that much until Cro Cop joined UFC, but he is just cashing in on a big pay day. One of thwo things from his UFC matches in the last few years…….Either past his prime or has no clue how to fight on the ground and in a cage.
Medvescak…..a nice feel good story, but its tough to get all excited for a team and league that is third-tier in europe. Plus, they had a few slovenci on the roster.
Glad to hear that Andrew has the right attitude about things!
btw., Gents since we are branching off into other sports… why not an MMA foray… for example Miletich and Cro Cop?
also, Medvescak (Zagreb hockey team) did well this year, in their inaugural season, and the team is largely populated with Croat North Americans.
Whaddya think?
Andrew,
The best to you my man!
Actually nfl players do get paid if they get injured during the season. The teams can release them after the season or before the start of the next season since nothing gaurenteed outside the signing bonus.
That is a bummer, and really hard to watch. Basketball doesn't appear to be the most physical sport on tv, but the sport produces some of the most hard-to- watch "limb-twisting" injuries I have seen.
Best of luck Andrew. Let it be a speedy recovery.
@ Brane,
He is guaranteed his contract even through injury. Only the NFL players don't get paid when they sit out. I wouldn't be so sure of Novalja quite yet. He dislocated his elbow and ESPN has reported a broken wrist as well. Looks like months of rehab. I'd be happy if he plays in the World Championships.
@ Denis,
I couldn't agree with you more. This guy is true class and was having an All-Star esque season and is true class. Wishing him a quick and healthy recovery.
Even though I'm a Laker fan, the news of Andrew Bogut going down for the rest of the year ruined the rest of the NBA season for me. Ante and I had a chance to sit down with the 25 year old former #1 pick less than a month ago. Andrew, all of us here at CSR wish you a smooth and speedy recovery.
Povodom najveceg Kršćanskog blagdana sretan vam Uskrs
Really sorry Andrew. Been following you ever since you were featured on CSR. Im sure it is the case, but would like to confirm his pay structure for such an incident. He still gets 100% pay…right. If so…sweet. Its off to Novalja a bit earlier than you thought :))…
