Borna Ćorić is an 18 year-old kid from Zagreb.
He plays tennis and he plays tennis well.
So what’s so special about him?
He turned 18 only four months ago. Has already represented Croatia in Davis Cup play. And is ranked 60th in the world as of March 2015.
After a 2nd Round straight set loss to Australian Bernard Tomic at the 2015 BNP Paribas Open, we spoke to Ćorić.
He’s confident. Believes that his hard work got him here, not luck. And has the tools to become an elite tennis player.
Ćorić flew straight from Serbia to Indian Wells, California this week after representing Croatia in Davis Cup. He took the opening two sets from Viktor Troicki in the second match before ultimately losing a 5-setter as Croatia was skunked by the Serbs 5-0. Ćorić then had to play two qualifier matches and a 1st rounder versus Andreas Haider-Maurer to get to #32 Bernard Tomic at the BNP Paribas Open.
Ćorić was clearly out of gas as Tomic didn’t have to move much to defeat the Croatian teenager. But Ćorić had some highlights as he struck some solid forehand winners and got into the umpire’s face twice on let calls he disagreed with.
Just last month, Ćorić defeated Andy Murray in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships. The kid has heart and power. Expect him to become a major player in the next 2-3 years.
I am surprised there was no Hajduk or Dinamo question.
you should remove the Bilić poll (at the top right hand of the page) and replace it with: Who has bigger pipes Ante Kvartuć or Borna Čorić?
Hitting the gym I see, Ante. Keep it up.
Boba Ćorić!
Good luck kid, tough competition and I hope he does well, can’t wait to watch him play.
i don’t know how jacked he will be with all that cardio but he will be super strong thats for sure
maminjo he calls himself a serb so according to zivas zds handbook he is a serb
This kid is already pretty shredded for an 18 year old. He’ll be jacked by the time he’s 25.
Kid is seriously mature. It’s going to serve him well to develop quicker. Wish him the best.
Good job Ante, seems like he’s very much a serious young guy, which is great to see, bodes well for future success,
Why?
Djoković is also a Croat as well (even if it’s half). 😉
best of luck to him… as long as he beats djokovic one day ill be happy
