As expected, Josip Brekalo, Marin Pongrančić, and Wolfsburg couldn’t get the job done against Shakhtar Donetsk Wednesday night in Ukraine. Already trailing 2-1 from their first leg defeat in Germany months ago, Wolfsburg knew they needed a minimum of two away goals to get anything accomplished. However, the game went scoreless for 89 minutes before Shakhtar banged in three goals in the last five minutes of play to book a spot in the Europa League quarterfinals. Brekalo got the start and played 76 minutes in the match while Pongrančić featured the whole match. At the end of the day, Wolfsburg had not played a game in over five weeks and a trip to Eastern Europe was too much to ask for.
In the later Europa League match, Marcelo Brozović got the start for Inter Milan in a 2-0 victory over Spanish club Getafe. The win means Inter will now feature in the Europa League quarterfinals. If they can win the entire tournament, they would be placed in the Champions League Pot 1 for group stage seeding. Brozović played 82 minutes in this match.
Jose A Reyes
this type of player that we need to be in Brekalo’s position >
Something about a Croat in black CiB
Stirs much pride
Crna Legija
@ Suba
Never mess with a Croat dressed in black. He didn’t take kindly to that Fanook pushing the older man. Maybe his Tata or Dido? We Croats have respect for our families.
Brekalo will prob come around
Or his size may impede progress down the road
Remember Rebić went obsolete for a while In his young days with mono and bad attitude
Now look
Lots of hope for brekalo
Maybe he makes a move and we give him another year before we start calling him a bust
And like y’all said… we don’t need him to hoist Croatia on his back
ZDS!
Only way to beat a Croat in a street fight is to scratch their eyeballs. T-minus 10 days! Let’s go Stipe. Goddard better be on high alert. I expect an immediate DQ if DC starts scraping. 3 scratches and you are out DC!
@Soul Champ-True, Brekalo doesn’t need to carry us. Thank goodness for that. He will definitely do some damage as a sub.
Only way he starts for us is in the near future is via injury, yellow cards, or if Dalic steals a page from Atalanta’s formation.
I really hope Moro can take the next step up
I like the look of him but that transition up is always the question mark for these young hrvati
Moro going to Dinamo Moscow? Hmmm
Wow, that Croat in the black shirt did some real damage with just three or four punches lol.
Such accuracy. Those three dudes just ate those punches after being so feisty, and each one immediately stopped their swinging after each punch.
Classic vid ElviSS
Gay euro trash men think they can overtake the local Croatians
They need to drink more protein shakes

Haha I watched a young vucic claim that glina and banija was srbija just before oluja happened and then he was asked about it in more recent times he denied ever saying it and that oluja was a war crime
Haha such a typical lying treacherous Chetnik
Za dom spremni

@Suba
ZDS! Hrvatska until the worlds ruin!
Wolfsburg is trash.
Too many scrubs to even count.
Who is that slow slinky of a striker?
Shakhtar rolls deep with dynamic Brazilians and hard core running Ukrainians. Still miss the Croatian Captain to bring it to the next level.
Brekalo plays a role that fits into our national setup.
He doesn’t need to carry anyone for the Vatreni.
Brozovic is so good that he plays well even when he couldn’t give a fuck about Inter.
I wonder who will sign the beast that is Mario MANdzukic.
He needs to play as finishing #9.
He has two more years at top level.
He goes on a scoring spree this season and I am calling him for Euro ‘21.
I don’t see anyone that does what he does.
@ bz
Pretty clear rebic is putting in the better season now… is it fair to judge brekalos future by these past few months?
Since the new year, rebic up there for best playerIn Italy… before that he couldn’t even get off the bench
Many times things are situational…i don’t watch wolfsburg but i wonder if the set up is not the best for him

He was a non factor.Though I’m sure Maminjo would rate him MOTM
Watched the Wolfsburg game, and sorry to report Brekalo is not carrying the load. Most great players start lifting their teammates by this time in their career. Wolfsburg got trounced.
Glad a few of us stuck with Rebic over Rebic. I am sure it helped Dalic stay the course. I remember a few polls on the various Croatian sports outlets that tried hard to kick Rebic when he was down**.
Everybody upvoting Brekalo and giving Rebic undue bad votes.
**Rebic was never down, just being systematically oppressed by a schism in the Milan locker room & front office.

A new beginning for Lovren.
I wonder if this will give him a boost for Croatia?
When is locked he is a quality player.
Maybe he will start scoring more Galasso’s ?
C’mon Josip, step up, man up, & shut me up.
Brozo gonna be swerving thru defenders like a drunk driver swerving thru traffic lanes.
Živili!
Happy Oluja day everybody
