Dinamo will now take a 2-goal lead to Greece next week in the Conference League Round of 16. Petković is currently the goal scoring leader in UEFA Conference League with 7 goals.
After taking down La Liga side Real Betis in the Conference League playoff round last week, Dinamo Zagreb will now battle Greek club PAOK in the Round of 16. This is definitely doable after earring their first victory on Spanish soil, however, which Dinamo side will we get? Will we see the side that most recently took down Real Betis and Rijeka, or the one that struggled against Osijek only days ago?
Dinamo host the 1st leg Thursday night at Maksimir with a 3PM (ET) kickoff. Bruno Petković is currently the leading scorer in Conference League with 5 goals (tied with 3 others) at this point in the tournament.
My gut feeling says Dinamo will come out defensively at home and try to nab a late 2nd half goal to win it 1-0 in Zagreb. Same story as the Real Betis tie. But if they can beat a Spanish side across two legs, they can certainly do the same against PAOK, who is currently 1st place in the Greek league by one point. PAOK are currently on a 3-game win streak while Dinamo are undefeated in their last nine matches (9-3-0) across all competitions with their last loss coming against Lokomotiva on January 23rd.
Looks like Dinamo’s Petar Sucic has decided to play for Croatia. He is only 20 and has been playing well for Dinamo as a defensive midfielder. Many see him as a potential replacement for Brozovic.
Well, he’s from Livno. Was there ever a doubt?
But yes I noticed him playing really well lately.
Never heard of him before this season. Just a guy stashed away at Zrinjski’s youth team all this time. Nice to see some late bloomers (even though he’s still 20) coming in for us.
No doubt…only the bosniaks are making a big deal about it.
Like they wouldn’t do the same thing if they were in our place, ha ha. Their citizens even choose to play for Turkey over any country in the former Yugo.
Cedi Osman and Emir Preldžić are two guys who switched to Turkey (even though they’re from Ohrid and Zenica).
There was also Mirsad Jahović who changed his name to Mirsad Turkcan and played for Turkey.
At least our “Bosnian” players are actual Croats who identify, speak and live in Croatia.
I think “bosniaks” are confused after their beloved jugoslavija fell apart. They’ve been going through an identity crisis. Historically, they’re just Croatians that submitted to their Turk conquerors. Jebiga…we would all be speaking Turkish if it wasn’t for our brave ancestors who stopped them.
Lots of these Bosniaks were converted Serbs. A lot of Serbs embraced Turkey. There’s a bit of historical revisionism there with Serbian resistance to Turkey, but that’s not entirely true. They generally didn’t hate the Ottoman Empire. Many urban folk purposely sent their kids to the “Devshirme” to convert to Islam and hold important positions in the Ottoman Empire.
the kid has been very noticeable recently, I hope he ends up being a diamond in the rough!
Nice !
Noticed him more than Baturina last game
Beyond his preference – he clearly sees a wide open runway (as we all do) – as nobody really in contention to take over for Broz (well save for Moro – who is waiting for his 2nd cap – any day now !) – perfect 10 years age difference
Hopefully he updates his Wikipedia asap – looked at it during the last game and nothing about Croatia / ability to represent Croatia at senior level (it’s obvious to us – but not others)
One interesting point – aside from Dzeko and Pjanic – can’t think of any big $$$ Bosnian transfers over the years (I’m sure there are others) – but Croatia has countless number of big $$$ transfers – so if you’re a player – and want to maximize you’re future $$$ potential – you’d prefer to play for Croatia – as you benefit from the positive stigma associated with Croatia vs. Bosnia soccer players (nobody ever talks about – wow that Bosnia player is great reminds me of X – but ever new Croatian player – the media say oh he’s the next Modric, etc)
Like many people said on here, Luka vuskovic is too tall for soccer, he’s abusing the poles and scoring regularly… it’s not fair
Back to back games with a goal and he’s hit the woodwork as well (5th minute goal today)
if he only knew how to defend
Still young.
But good to see that he’s playing and somehow already producing goals in his limited minutes.
Maybe he should be repurposed as a striker.
We could have ourselves a Jan Koller type here.
HNL ref now arrested in HRV for death threats.
HRV suci = turksa sapunica
At what point did the Turkish ones top the Mexican ones in HRV?
Watched Ajax yesterday, Sosa looked good a left wing.
It looks like they played three at the back with Sosa and Gooijer as wingbacks.
There are two types of Fanboys
Category 1 [Delusional one]
someone who will always support the team
that he/she wants for both sides [the good and the bad]
I’m sure they will defend the team and look for something good!!
Another type of fanboy
what I call Category 2 –> he/she is very critical of the team
If there’s anything that’s a little off, he/she will immediately protest
because he/she wants that team to show the best they can do…
The difference between haters and fanboys in Category 2 is
the haters want to take down those he/she criticizes
the fanboys want the criticism to be more advanced
I don’t hesitate to say myself
I’m in fanboy category 2 >
We have been asking for in form strikers…
Well we currently have two solid options guys
And of course krama who has been at his high form for the repka last while
Need that D and livakovic to really tighten up for us again
Love to see orsic back with petko again….
Always good to get some payback on the grci
Nike kits launch date, according to footyheadlines.com:
https://www.footyheadlines.com/2024/03/exclusive-nike-2024-national-team-kits.html
I’ve noticed that the away kits for almost all of the leaked Nike kits are pretty outlandish and out there.
England with dark purple kits, France with half red and half blue pinstripes on each side of the kit, Netherlands with a fully patterned kit…
Curious to see what they do for our away kit. Hopefully they don’t butcher it, since we always have to wear our away kits often.
I am still shocked there are no HRV kit leaks yet. Almost all the other squads have had their kits leaked. England’s purple kit is horrible.
We usually even get these fake leaks too.
So far it’s been nothing.
Anyone have highlights or a link to full match replay?

Petković leading scorer in the tournament
Such a talented player. Shame he got so lazy after the initial interest from Barcelona and it’s taken him about 5 years to realise what it takes to be a top player. Let’s hope he keeps it up. Love him
Good result for Dinamo. Nevestic with a superb save in the 94th minute could prove to be crucial.
Well done Dinamo
Wow. That Baturina no-look assist.
Haha! Comment of the week.
Nice finish by Petkovic.
According to gol.hr several scouts came to Maksimir to look at Baturina and Petkovic:
“Na utakmicu Dinama i PAOK-a stigli su skauti Fiorentine, Leverkusena, West Hama i Manchester Uniteda. Spomenuti su navodno došli gledati Martina Baturinu, a neki se zaimaju i za Brunu Petkovića, no Baturina je glavni Dinamov adut za veliku zaradu.”
Baturina at Leverkusen would be best for his development.
I was also thinking the Bundesliga would be a good step in his development. If he gets game time, Leverkusen would be ideal. I would also love to see him at either RB Leipzig, or Dortmund. England would be a big mistake.
I thought he was overrated? I read it here just last week;)
Apparently, in order for us to do well at Euro2024, every single player has to start for the top clubs in Europe (week in, week out, no exceptions).
This includes guys who are not even on our National Team too.
Kotarski made a good save from Petkovic, unlucky with the rebound going back to Petkovic. In my opinion Baturina is having a good match so far, we’ll see what happens in the second half. Reports are that there are a lot of scouts watching the match, in all probability looking at Baturina.
Looks like Kotarski gifted the rebound right back to Petvokic’s feet
Hehe
Watched last 25 min of 1st half
What’s the story w/ Spikic ?
Took a couple nice long-balls easily
A couple of nice runs into the corner than cut back / cross
And nice track back in the final minute almost all the way to the corner flag to tackled the left-winger of PAOK
Why hasn’t he ever been called up yet ?
Baturina was strolling around the pitch – kind of waiting for someone to get him the ball (which only happened a couple of times) – not really dictating anything – is this typical ? (first DZ game I’ve watched all season)
Dinamo will win, positive vibes 😉
On a side note, I can’t believe what I just saw on DAZN, I’ve been paying for this stupid streaming service so I can watch the National side and was contemplating cancelling because of lack of use.
Well, I was just shocked to see that all Dinamo HNL games are also being shown. I’ve been dying to watch them for decades.
I hated the shady sites over the years which had poor quality where you would watch on the PC but to see this on DAZN just blew my mind.
The only sad part, is it seems to only show Dinamo games. I feel bad for my brothers. I really don’t understand why it wouldn’t have the whole HNL or am I mistaken again?
Mons you, I tried doing a search for other teams and nothing comes up.
The worst thing about these damn streaming services, is I literally had to type Dinamo in the search engine to see that they were showing the Croatian Football League.
I had typed for months Croatia 🇭🇷
Croatian Soccer and it was just show the national side.
If there’s anything else I’m missing, please let this old cat 🐱 know.
Unbelievable
I think you may be wrong about Dinamo games on DAZN. Yes, if you search for Dinamo on DAZN, you will find all of the upcoming games listed. However, they only broadcast the games that have “watch on DAZN” beside them. Here in Canada, its only the Conference League knock-out phase games.
You are correct 👍 thank you for that correction. I was about to tell the wife I’m not available at 9am Saturday, lol.
I guess the justification for paying for this service is dwindling.
I’m quite sad now, I was looking forward to watching the league and watching our young players develop.
I used to follow the EPL for decades but Covid pissed me off so much that I boycotted all sports but Cro National team.
Apparently all the worlds professional athletes could travel and sweat all over each other during an alleged deadly pandemic.
At the same token be considered essential services but the layperson couldn’t even go to church ⛪️ what total gong show.
Anyone who bought that propaganda and would argue for the 120 NFL football players playing in empty stadium, really should be checked for a concussion. Lol
Just get an ipTV box and watch every HNL game for a fraction of the cost of cable or DAZN.
