In his fourth edition of Ćavara Corner, Vedran speaks about the charity match between Dinamo Zagreb and AIK Stockholm later in May to raise money for the late former Dinamo goal keepers, Ivan Turina, who unexpectedly passed away last week in Sweden. Ćavara also discusses the upcoming Champions League Final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, predicting a 3-1 win for Bayern.
If Modric has the type of career Pirlo had and leads us to same type of silverware he led Italy to, I will be happy.
I rate Pirlo very high. He may be slow, but he thinks fast with and without the ball.
@zija……..you might be right.
@Jack V
Except maybe Giggsy.
That man must have sold his soul!
@Poglavnik:
I agree, but his time is up.
Time stops for no man.
@Jack V
Pirlo may be a little old and slow but he just might be the best non-attacking midfielder of the last 15 years.
For me, he’s better than Xavi.
I also think Modric IS on the same level as both those 2.
I wouldn’t rate Kranjcar as elite, but he is a skilled player.
His speed and work rate seem to be his weaknesses.
For me he is a two footed Rafael Van Der Vaart.
Both are technically skilled, smart & attack minded, but don’t work hard enough or defend well.
@Ziva:
You have reverse homer glasses. You are more critical of Croats than others.
For example, you called Modric the “poor man’s Pirlo”. Pirlo is a decrepitly slow and old.
He can’t dodge challenges like Modric.
If anything Pirlo is a shitty old version of Modric.
dont worry vedran, ziva is just sexually frustrated since he is a 50 year old virgin, that lives in his mothers basement, and lives on this site so he can make himself try and seem valued for once is his shitty life
I was being sarcastic. Ziva I like you, relax. The Croatia homers were huge over him, while I thought he had some major potential. That clearly wasn’t the case.
your nuts…….nobody with a rational soccer mind ever thought Kranjcar would be a star. NOBODY, unless they were blinded by being a Croatian homer as they hope every Cro player becomses a stud.
Kranjcar’s biggest problem was his last name. Cico was a legend at the club. I don’t think some of you realize how big of a name/player Cico was for Dinamo. Niko was cursed because of that and the idiotic media in Cro pumped him up for no reason other than the fact his dad was Cico. I watched Niko play as a 16 year old as a junior and I never for one minute thought he would be elite. Very serviceable player who can play for the repka, but not elite and not a leader. Imagine if Boban had a kid who was 15 yrs old right now and in the Dinamo system. Same sort of unrealistic expectations would take place.
And the other issue people have with Niko is because they associate him for leaving Dinamo and going to Hajduk. Niko left because he was forced out by Mamic who was looking for an excuse as a result of Dinamo’s poor play. He found that in Niko and demanded publically for Niko to take less money. Mamic had this crazy idea he was going to reduce the salary of every player by 30-40% for bad play, which in itself is comical. Niko said BS and that he wouldn’t take less money than what was written on his legal contract. I don’t know of many people who are willing to take less money while their work contract states they are entitled to a certian amount and not 30% less. So, Niko decided to go to Hajduk because that was really the only club interested in him that also had a reciprocal interest coming from Niko.
So, next time you want to make a statement about one of our players, at least be accurate.
I would like to write a throwback article called 2008…the last year people had faith in Niko Kranjcar to become a star.
Maybe you are a Jew and you are hiding your beenie?
@ Ziva – that’s what i”m talking about. Alot of the younger generation people on this site have never probably heard of him. It wouldn’t be bad to learn these things if your a sports fan. Great B ball player though.
Kreso Cosic would be a good one……best would be some insight on how some people back in Zadar told him to go to hell when he returned back from BYU and tried to convert people to be a Mormon
Yup, I have a big ugly birthmark, I transplanted it from my butt to by head, so that was a vast improvement.
On another note. I would like to see throwback thursdays on this site if at all possible by any of you writers. I think Croatia has enough history in sports and historical players that can be written about to educate alot of us. Posts on people like Krešimir Ćosić would be educational for alot of our younger croatian followers to be educated on. Just a thought.
BTW how about the Kings last night? Go Kings Go!
our other Cali team (sharks) swept the canucks!
Good job Vedrane. Samo naprid stari.
You must have a big ugly birthmark on the top of your head. What no hat?
Vedran,
You’re doing a great job. Some people will always find something to complain about.
I liked Vedran’s video. And I like the articles that Denis and Ante write. Because they are informative and give us an opportunity to discuss.
Remember, without them writing new articles and starting threads we couldn’t post. So let’s be appreciative.
rude????? I’m repeating what was said about past videos.
some of you guys are too sensitive. Jebi ga, I’m off to bed.
Hvala Vedran… I hope you are right about Bayern and Mandzukic!
Ziva drop the shit and personal attacks. And why are you checking him out so closely to begin with? I don’t remember us prva generacija members being so rude for Ante and Denis commentary, show Vedran the same respect please
What, the 5 people who have seen it. Mom and Dad don’t count. I think most people laugh or shake their head at it along with your appearance.
All I’m saying is to expect critical comments if you want to post content on the website. This is a message board. So, expect feedback – good and bad.
LOL. Most people actually like my video so therefore, Ziva, you again made an ass of yourself.
provide more quality in the content and people would bitch less.
Nice Video Vedran!
Obviously, but I wouldn’t define a question as being pestered.
On another note… Beautiful result today in England!
I love my Gooners but i found myself singing “Blue is the colour” after that match! 🙂
If you get pestered constantly, I’m pretty sure you’d be tired of it.
Wow! It just looks like an honest question dudes. Lay off the guy.
Furthermore, this is the reason why I have shied away from being a more active part of this site in the past. No matter how hard we work or what we do for the site, people always find a reason to piss and moan and complain and criticize. If we were getting paid for our pieces like say, writers for ESPN.com or other sites, I could understand. The constant complaining is childish, unnecessary, redundant and bothersome. I am more accepting of it now, but I still find it incredulous to see so much division within such a small community of people such as us Croatians.
@ HRVAT,
It’s up. Been at work all day. It had to wait. Keep your panties on, please.
Everyone that ever writes for CroatianSports does it for free and out of love of sport and community. For you to bitch at us is embarrassing. We’re not being paid for this.
If you ever want to share the written word, the platform is yours my friend.
Shoot me an email at: Ante@Croatiansports.com
Simple as that…
Please explain to me what kind of obligation any of us that write/blog for the site have to write about certain stories?
Lets not jinx the Hajduk win. We still got 2nd round.
WHY DON’T YOU DO IT INSTEAD?!? This is run by its members. Issue Boze stop being so dosadan
do you guys ever intend too write about Hajduks win?
