Mario Mandžukić scored a ‘right place-right time’ insurance goal for Juventus Wednesday night in the 80th minute of their match with Olympiakos. He was on a Juve rush when a defender cleared the ball off the line right onto Mario’s head. It was in typical Ivica Olić-like fashion and gave the Italian champions a 2-0 win and their first points in Champions League this season. Mandžukić played the full 90 minutes.
Mandžukić scores a funny one off his head
Luka Modric played 90 minutes and assisted on assisted on Ronaldo’s second goal in Real Madrid’s 3-1 road victory over Borussia Dortmund. The win puts Madrid level on points with Tottenham going into their October fixture. Ivan Rakitic played 90 minutes as Barcelona needed an own goal to defeat Sporting Lisbon 1-0.
Matej Mitrović was left on the bench as Besiktas beat RB Leipzig 2-0. Dejan Lovren and Liverpool managed a 1-1 draw in Russia against Spartak Moscow. It is Liverpool’s second draw in as many games to start their CL campaign.
These teams fans expect perfection
Rakitic made some bucks won some hardware
Would he be better off going somewhere where he is more of a prominent player? He can sure as shit be prominent for us if he steps up
Exactly last week they were praising raki
@soul Messi had a real nice run beat 3-4 guy gives it to Ivan who can’t beat the first man with a simple pass, practically passes it straight to the defender
There were a few claiming sergi Roberto is a waste at RB and should have rakitic position LEL
@Soul & Idemo- Barcelona & Real Madrid fans are fickle. RM fans were screaming for Bale’s head b4 yesterday’s game. They were screaming for Modric’s head too (when he first hot there.) Would love to see Rakitic go somewhere else, ideally somewhere with other NT players.
@ Idemo
Why ?
Barca Twitter calling for rakitic head…..
LMFAOOOOOO POG didn’t even do it on purpose
@Lovro
What an idiotic survey.
So pretty much any country that drinks wine regularly is on the list because alcohol = bad.
Lovren and “pool” will always be associated.
lovren was pool best defender last night
@adame-achilles, the pictures of the surgery were not pretty.
Doing his best, but I think
@Soul- watching Luka & Bale yesterday reminded me of Tottenham. Really was a 9.5 performance at a tough venue.
@dannyj- for argument’s sake we’ll say Modric’s striker equivalent was Suker in his prime. Yes I would make that trade & let Kova/Rakitic/and any of the other MFs hold it down.
Anyone know what happend to Corluka?
Luka Modric—9.5: Positioned even further out on the right than usual today, similar to his role against Juventus in the final, but once again was brilliant. What a luxury Madrid fans have, who is the best midfielder in the world—Modric or Kroos? Modric was unplayable today and he did a great job of switching the field of play. The Croatian always looked to exploit the weak side of Dortmund’s defense. He released Bale and Ronaldo all night, and racked up an assist for Ronaldo’s second goal of the game which ultimately nailed the coffin for Dortmund. On top of his offensive contribution, he worked tirelessly all night to close down the Dortmund midfield and give Carvajal support.
You guys are familiar with CuntDragan i take it?

you wouldnt believe Serbian news today! lol wtf is with their massive victim/poor me complex? they went on and on about “so typical of croats, persecuting an innocent man!”
i mean i know it’s no surprise for serbs to be cunts, it’s just the level of that cuntery that is astonishing to even a seasoned cunt-detector lol
@ BZ
All good as Luka was big time with Spurs in the champions league as well.
He did look fantastic yesterday.
Zidane is resting/rotating him well as he knows he needs him for all the big matches.
RM off 4 days before away to Espanyol.
Luka should be good to go for Operation October.
Yes I bet Syria is healthier than those top 10
Yes! We made it! We’re number 7 in the World. Thanks Ante B.

Hypothetical question
Would u guys trade modric and his midfield greatness and we can keep all the rest of the midfield we have for an equivalent modric quality striker?
Modric a bit dinged up (probably just cramps), but sensational today!
What a juicy ball from Luka
Big game experience with your club team = tired, and higher probability of injury.
Big game experience with your National Team = big continuity.
@Soul- From a national team perspective, I respectfully disagree that RM has made Luka better. He is better at his RM role, but we need Tottenham Modric being honed!
I remember the days when this site first burst onto the scene and Hrvati were non existence in the CL, sans Srna who was holding down the Brazilian pipeline for Shaktar.
Now we are involved in all the big matches throughout the CL season.
I enjoy follow the dečki with the clubs during the CL.
But now we have to parlay all this big match experience into World Cup success.
