When Champions League returns in February, it’s going to be one hell of a ride as a Croatian national team player aims to lift the CL trophy for an 11th straight year. (Musa will be there soon enough)
There will be at least one Croatian in every Round of 16 matchup. If all win (highly doubtful), that will guarantee the Champions League trophy in Croatian hands once again. Wishful thinking, I know. But we should expect a handful of Croatian players to punch their tickets to the quarterfinals.
Luka Modrić and Real Madrid should get past Liverpool in a reply of last year’s Final. Especially with Benzema back and healthy. Chances Real Madrid go through: 60%
Joško Gvardiol and RB Leipzig will have the toughest battle, facing favorites Manchester City. Chances RB Leipzig go through: 20%
Petar Musa and Benfica received a favorable draw in Club Brugge. Chances Benfica go through: 70%
Ivan Perišić and Tottenham face a tricky tie with Ante Rebić and AC Milan. Chances Spurs go through: 60%
Kristijan Jakić and Eintracht Frankfurt will play a red hot Napoli side. Chances Frankfurt go through: 30%
Mateo Kovačić and Chelsea were drawn with Borussia Dortmund. Who know what form they will be in three months. Chances Chelsea go through: 50%
Marcelo Brozović and Inter Milan will play FC Porto. Like Chelsea, who knows what their form will be. Chances Inter Milan go through: 50%
Josip Stanišić will more than likely play a bench role as Bayern Munich look to shut down Messi and PSG. Chances Bayern go through: 60%
By those percentages, expect five of our guys in the quarterfinals; which will be an open draw with no restrictions.
2 of those match ups -the first one and last, could easily be the final…look out for Napoli they are my sleeper pick.
They won’t win it but I see them causing havoc!
You know. Jakic I really haven’t paid attention to much but his stats ain’t bad
No love for Smolcic in this article 😉
neh
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if benfica go all the way with Musa playing an instrumental role
Benfica were lucky with the draw and are favorite to beat Club Brugge, however the odds of them winning the CL are slim, and in all probability will not make it past the QF no matter which club they get.
It still may not be enough to make the cut for our Nations League matches in June next year, lol
