With less than 24 hours until Croatia takes on England at Wembley, 20 year-old Croatian tennis phenom Marin Čilić was busy dismantling Great Britain’s Andy Murray in the 4th Round of the U.S. Open Tuesday afternoon in New York. The boy from Split took down the current world #2 in straight sets and will take on Argentina’s Juan del Potro in the quarterfinals.
Yes, Andy Murray is born and raised in Scotland but he still plays under Great Britain’s ‘Union Jack’. When he plays at Wimbledon the English take him in as one of their own. Murray definitely didn’t get out of bed with his ‘A’ game today and had a slight injury; but still battled Čilić tough in the first set.
WAS ČILIĆ FORESHADOWING ANOTHER BRITISH UPSET?
WILL OUR BOYS BE ABLE TO COPE WITH THE PRESSURE?
WHAT TRICKS DOES BILIĆ HAVE UP HIS SLEEVE?
Pay-Per-View has exclusive rights to show the game in the United States for a price of $24.99. Setanta-i.com/ has a feature where you can buy a live stream from them. The only free live stream site I can offer is balkansport.info. However, you have to first register as a member to utilize the site. I recommend to our readers that you do this immediately if you plan on watching the game there. Try to get on the stream half an hour before the game as it fills up quickly.
That’s really the only advice I can give you guys right now as videosport.com will not be hosting the match. You can also try myp2p.eu as a backup
Talk to you guys after the game…
gentlemen, gentlemen, lets keep this as croatiansoccerreport.com. I have already had complaints that this site was hajduksoccerreport.com. Now I dont want to here that we are croatianpoliticalreport.com
Please no war talk, political talk or religion talk. Exchange emails and become pen pals. Thank you.
there was no Knin type takeover because the serbs had no interest or people in hercegovina. At most, there might have been 5-10% serbs in hercegovina.
Knin and other areas had more.
Dubrovnik is on the coast was shelled from the sea and Montenegro. Hercegovina is a bunch of rocks.
Ukraine-Belarus… I am watching live feed here, just click on game:
http://atdhe.net/
However, no audio
As far as I know there was no Knin type takeover in Herzegovina. Why did Dubrovnik get shelled so much?Herzegovina was untouched. Your Sibenik example backs up what I wrote too. Lets not go there.
@ Slaven…. really….the people from Hercegovia are more croatian than the people from Dalmacija.
So the dalmatinci that fought the serbs near the maslenicki most outside zadar are not "hrvat" enough for you. Those that died and were butchered in Skabrnje are not true hrvati. What about the dalmos who were joined by hercegovci outside Sibenik that protected and turned away the advacning cetnik army.
Every group has their good guys and bad guys. there were plenty of hercegovci that also became war profiteers at the expense of other hrvati, so i would not go calling them true patriots either.
Denis and I ran into Cilic in March of 2008 at a tournament in Indian Wells, CA. We talked to him for 10 minutes on one of the outside courts after a training session. He said he's currently living in Split.
I don't know how long he has been in Split but I heard it straight from the horse's mouth. We actually wrote a small post on him on CSR.
And let's say Cilic was actually born in London and the next day his parents flew back to Croatia. Does that make him English? No. You are where you grow up. As simple as that. Also how you are raised. That's why there are so many bi-cultural Croatian-Americans and Croatian-Australians around the world.
They understand and are a part of two cultures at the same time.
My father grew up in Derventa too. His family moved there when he was very young. My mother is from Herzegovina. During the war, they said Croats from Herzegovina are more Croat than people in Croatia, especially the Dalmatian's. The fact that Cilic is from Herzegovina makes him a super-Croat. 🙂
Hey, DENO…
You've got things mixed up. I purposely reminded everyone that Cilic is from Hercegovina precisely to highlight the sentiments that you laid out for us.
What didn't you understand about me saying "Cilic is a Croat from Herzegovina?"
And, did you miss the word "naturally" at the end of my comment?
You people need to learn how to read.
Murray is probably rooting for Croatia against England. He caught some heat a few years ago when he said he rooted against Engalnd in a game.
Yeeah, i was born in Derventa (Bosnia) same place where vedran corluka was born! So what…im sure cilic considers himself 100 percent Croatian, and he doesnt apprecite you saying he is playing under a croatian flag. Im the same way, even though i wasnt born in Croatia I consider myself a true Croatian! I have the same culture as you, i have the same love for the country as you, im as patriotic as you…
Cilic is the man!
Marin Cilic is a Croat from Herzegovina (born in Medjugorje). He is a Croatian national and plays under Croatia's flag, naturally.
This is a great result by Cilic cos he white washed the guy 3-0 having never beaten him before. However unfortunately Andy Murray is Scotish. English fans would like to take to Murray as their own, but he keeps ramming his Scottishness down their throats and is not greatly interested in helping their Davis Cup team. Sadly its more of a defeat for Scotland than England. England don't particularly like the guy. His coaching team is also mainly American i think these days. He's cut himself off from the English coaches as i think he believes there rubbish basically.
I went on setanta-i(dot)com and purchased their payperview for 14.99 its aweseome because you can actualy watch it ONLINE! They will stream in in three different bandwith speeds so it can suit your connection. ANd the best part its going to be in english!!!! And also they have a recording feature so u can watch the match later!!! Its freaggin sweet.
Im happy that i wont have to use those crappy streams that keep stopping!!!
IDEMO HRVATSKA!!!
What a great win by Cilic today against the second best player in the world. I caught most of the game and this kid will give Del Potro a challenge. Winner of this match should make the finals against Federer.
@someguy
Thanks for the heads up. Also, excellent name. Please join us as a member of Croatian Soccer Report and sign up as a follower right under the poll.
We are looking forward to the links.
My roommate is from China and found a bunch of Chinese channels that will be streaming the match (apparently there are a lot of Chinese that support the English national team). The direct links aren't up yet but I will post them in a comment tomorrow as soon as I can. You won't be able to understand a word the commentators are saying but at least you can watch the whole match.
You have to but the rights to these games. So far ESPN has the rights to the World Cup, Euro, two Premiership matches per week and one La Liga game.
It's business first my friend.
Whydoesn't ESPN show international matches?
Cilic is awesome!!
They lost to Greece today in Euro b-ball championships.
