Marin Čilić does it again Down Under!
The 37 year-old 2014 US Open champion took down #21 Denis Shapovalov in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Čilić will now play the winner of #12 Ruud/Munar in the 3rd Round.
Remember, Čilić made it to the final 16 of Wimbledon last summer. Can he make another run at the Australian Open? Pretty incredible for a guy who took two years off due to injury/surgery.
After a weird 1st set where both players broke each other multiple times, Čilić settled down with 5 aces and 20 winners. Čilić jumps to #61 in the world with the victory.
The AO may be turned to the GO! Geriatric Open. Stan Wawrinka 40 years old is moving on as well. Marin has three years of youth on him, if that were the final.

Is Miskovic regretting buying out the 50% for 4m from Fiorentina ? 20/20 seems greedy and now he’s on the hook for it (which represents 3 years of Rijeka operating budget to run the club)
There is only 1.5 years left on Fruk’s contract – is Fruk just going to stay until his contract runs out end of next season (he’ll be 26) and leave somewhere on a free (and negotiate directly a large sign-on bonus and higher wages (since the club doesn’t have to pay a transfer fee))

Don’t get why Belupo were even listening to offers – don’t they understand if he makes the WC squad and plays at the World Cup they’ll be able to sell him for a Baturina-like fee ? And Jagusic will have much better teams after him and join them for a proper pre-season (like Pero did at Inter) ?
