#3 ranked Marin Čilić made it to where he was expected to make it- the French Open quarterfinals. But he couldn’t get over his Juan Martin del Potro hump, now losing to the Argentine for the 11th time in 13 matches.
After rain stopped the match in the first set tiebreaker on Wednesday, play resumed Thursday afternoon with del Potro finishing off Čilić 7-5 in the tiebreaker to take the first set. Although Čilić won the second set 7-5, he showed nerves, being broken at 5-4 while he was on serve to take the set.
Čilić was up a break in the third and looked like he could pull away, but Delpo grinded down the Croatian to win again; finishing the match 7-5, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.
Čilić has always had issues capitalizing in tight situations against good competition. It’s more mental than anything else. Let’s see what he can do at Wimbledon in a month as a high seed coming into the tournament.
11 aces in not even a full set on clay for Cilic; must be serving great!
Good to see mamic going where he deserves, unless his pal and great Croat saviour samir and his serb whore wife save him, oh wait, he’s off to brazil to pick bananas and teach samba lessons, oh wait, he’s off to the belgrade sanjak the great mamic Croat to kick balls, lol, hopefully he takes his serb whore with him and stays there, stroll around the belgrade park.lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQSe7aMeqn0
Will be a tough one. Djoko lost overnight too so that opens the draw up a bit but Nadal is still there and obv virtually unbeatable on clay.
