At 103 caps and four goals in the red & white checkers, Croatian defender Vedran Ćorluka has officially retired from the Croatian national team, following the team’s second place finish at the World Cup. He was a legendary player and personality for the Vatreni, and will be missed.
Although goals are rare for center-backs, his most memorable one came in Istanbul when he put a dagger through Turkish hearts with a header that made it 3-0 Croatia in a playoff tie, putting Croatia through to Euro 2012.
HAET is that you again?
^
Are you trying to say that these white American men are pedeophiles because they’re Catholic? That would be stupid.
They should ask these abuse victims if they still have the Catholic faith, if not then that could be motivation to make things up 30 or 40 years after the fact in some cases.
No one was abused because of the faith, but by some priest.
Check the priests also if they are in fact Catholics, and not just white American pedeophiles becoming priests for easy access to children.
No one is abused because of the faith, but because of hireling priests.
In her public affidavit, among other things, Dodd stated:
“In the late 1920’s and 1930’s, directives were sent from Moscow to all Communist Party organizations. In order to destroy the [Roman] Catholic Church from within, party members were to be planted in seminaries and within diocesan organizations… I, myself, put some 1,200 men in [Roman] Catholic seminaries”.
Can’t wait to watch how the American news covers this.

@Ivo
“Bleiburg happened because the West doesn’t care about Eastern Europeans.”
Can you be more specific?
Who did the English take orders from when they conspired with the communists?
The English (western Europe) took orders from the Anglican church to conspire with the eastern European communists to kill Catholic Croats after the war.
So you tell me, what’s wrong with my comment?
Bleiburg happened because the West doesn’t care about Eastern Europeans.
Bleiburg happened because shitty racist Western Europeans didn’t care. They sold out Poland to and Hungary to the Soviets but not Austria? Why?
I get nauseated when people criticize Perkovic. Were you there? Did you fight in Oluja?
And Ustase critics-were you there? Did you do what was necessary to protect your home and your family? Did you have a literal gun to your head, and were you commanded to do what you had to to protect your life and your family’s life?
My stara baba was running across a bridge over a stream near a small village near Slunj in WW2 when the Cetnik troops were coming in, and my baba was an infant. The Cetnik troops killed most of the town- killed innocent men, women, and children. My stara baba had my baba and her sestra in a basket. She was going to throw them in the stream, because she was worried that the Cetnik troops would do worse to them if they caught them alive. She took the blanket off of the basket, and my baba and her sestra were laughing and smiling, so she couldn’t do it. She ran, and they managed to survive by the grace of God.
So here I am today. There is nothing wrong with standing up for your homeland, and doing what it takes to protect your family.
Better to have a good neighbor, than a bad brother. I have no intentions of aggression towards my neighbors. Everyone should have their own small space, and it should be respected by their neighbors. I don’t understand why others can’t understand that.
@Ivo
Remember the Bleiburg massacres happened because the English took orders from the Anglican church and conspired with communists to kill Catholic Croats.
Who do you take orders from ya muppet?
If only he had more speed. Even still, highly underrated with his ball control and passing.
You can’t gave it both ways Soul Champ.
U need to eat some humble pie too when some B grade talent out of the HNL you’ve been hyping doesn’t live up to your world class standard.
@tomislav
It’s as if Thompson by singing said, “Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword [Matthew 10:34]. What Jesus Christ meant by the “sword” was that the people would become divided, not because that was his intention, but that would be the effect of his coming because some would believe in Him and others wouldn’t.
So with that in mind, it is not Thompson’s intention to have people leave the celebrations, but rather the people that left were exposed to be “full of rapine and uncleanness within.” [Matthew 23:25]
These people that left the celebrations are also “A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.” [Proverbs 30:12]
It was the Father of the Nation Ante Starcevic that once said, “Throw a piece of mud into a glass of pure water, then all the water will become contaminated.”
You could say that Thompson’s songs are like a water filter that separates the impure Croats from the pure Croats, that being the case the Croats that left the celebrations are the “mud” that would prefer the “waters” to remain “contaminated.”
Soul champ rallying the troops again!

And it begins ..
Dobro jutro svima !!
Kovačić is on a one year mission to take his iLLmatic talent to a world class level.
Sarri is going to turn him into a BEAST.
I want all non-believers to speak now or forever hold your peace.
Bog i Hrvati.
Katic and Barisic pitched a shut out on the left side of the Rangers backline.
Tomislav-That quick shove sounds epic, kinda like when I jumped 3 Thompson fans with my Razor scooter. We got a guy on this bard who can slice up those wannabees with the fin of his kite board.
Ivan “the great” Santini !!
Throw him into the UNL pool and let’s see him beast against England and Spain.
Love to reward production.
Bog i Hrvati !!
Damn. Everything moderated.
Nice.
Santini is at pace for 93 goals this season.
Hopefully he can keep this up 😉
Santini with another goal. Great start to the season. 7 in 3 games.
It’s funny you mention that. If we further breakdown the split, it was like 20 percent of females supported Thompson being there. Most of these Thompson/ustase wanna be events are mostly giant sausage fests. Not sure if any of these guys have ever been on a date.
Meanwhile, after i put those ustase wanna bes in their place with a quick shove, let’s just say i could’ve had any girl in the kafic
Tomislav-I heard 100% of females were turned off by your appearance, but I am sure that doesn’t bother you.
In Croatia, it’s impressive how many people were turned off by Thompson’s appearance. I’d say close to fifty percent of people i talk with. Maybe 40 percent when I’m in split and 60 percent when I’m in Zagreb
Tomislav stavi tvoju comment u prkno, koga si ti plasija kurac svoga .
=U=
the yugo trolling is tomislav kikas from chicago
@tomislav
yugo commie misinformation agent. Your time is up udbaš scum.
Corluka will be missed. Maybe a bit slow but he was always in the right position and defended very well. Talk about mental toughness, just look at that picture above. Tough as nails. Svaka ti cast.
Tommy boy didn’t push anyone. He is the Yugo
Cocksucker that comes here.
@tomislav
I’m no Ustasa cause I don’t take orders from
The church especially this communist priest.
I doubt you pushed anyone and you come across
As a Yugoslav cocksucker.
@tomislav. Thank god you were there to set them straight on the most important issue facing Croatia today. Now all the young people leaving Cro en masse can come back. Who cares they don’t have work. It’s important that Tomislav got in a shoving match, which he won, and the Thomson boys backed down.
the american croats who think theyre ustase but barely speak the language are the worst
perkovic had no business being at the welcoming party and riding on the bus. it took a uniting event for Croatians and divided them with many people walking out and many who stayed flashing fascist signs and chanting fascist slogans. Not sure how this was productive. I let some of those American croats who think they’re ustase know about it
I guess I’ve always thought that Modric would finish his national team stint after Euros, along with Dalic. They have unfinished business. Mandza might be done though. We’ll see.
Shut up truth troll
@tomislav
I’m sorry, what’s your problem with Marko Perkovic?
I was recently in croatia and really got into it with some ustase supporter types who kept telling me it was ok for thompson, a known ustase sympathizer, to ride and perform with the national team
And then they were so crazy as to say it was ok for Modric to request Geni Kameni at the end of the concert.
I then told him how the when that requested that song 50% of the crowd left, and the sensible event administrator cut the mike.
Then it got a bit physical. I shoved those guys a bit and they quickly backed down and tried to tell me they had no problem.
Thank You Vedran. Like a fine wine, you got better with age. We can only hope some of our young CBs can achieve your ball skills.
Car- will be better in the air, guaranteed more than 4 goals if he gets more than 50 starts…Need to watch more to see his passing and ball skills.
Mitrovic- played well in the qualifiers,when Corluka was injured and Livren was prima donna-ing…probably should have made the team over Corluka, but Corluka’s spot was a salute to his service.
Katic-like that he is naturally lefty…need to monitor his progress.
Benkovic-not seen, but sounds like people are high on him…hopefully will be epl tested soon enough
Fun fact: Neither Car nor Benkovic made roster of their team’s openers yesterday.
Dobar ko kruv hvala Vedran =U=
A noble departure and a player I liked but he was offensively one dimensional and that issue, shared by our other defenders, was the reason this generation took so long to click. This problem was finally overcome in Russia by a lot of work along the wings principally by Vrsaljko but also Strinic. I look forward to a new back line.
Bravo Carli. Dobar Posao
Ćorluka had some tough injuries in recent years.
He actually started as a RB at Spurs and was smooth down the flank and rarely got beat by elite wingers.
I saw him play for Spurs and Red Bull Arena and you could see his intelligence on the ball.
I can’t believe he was able to get to full fitness and play some meaningful minutes on our historic run.
Respect. 145 times he has put on the national jersey. The water polo cap worn by supporters will live on forever.
Hvala ti Vedrane! Svaka ti cast!
Ćarli with speed would have been a superstar and probably would be playing with Modrić at Real Madrid.
@Razbijac
Spot on! Probably our best ever defender when u look at his ball distribution and composure on the ball.
@Mark, he may not have had the pace but he was solid positionally. If you can read the game, you don’t always have to be one of the quickest guys on the pitch.
Dude was a warrior.
All the best to Carli.
Carli is a legend. Gave his all and was always rock solid for us.
Past his prime now and stepping away at the right time.
I think Slavonac posted both Mandza and Modric are retiring too? I haven’t seen anything in regards to that. Mandza wouldn’t surprise me but Modric retiring now would. This team has the talent for one more great run in the Euros.
Ćorluka was a very good player for us and will be missed. It’s too bad he was slow as mollases. His turtle-like pace always made me nervous. If he had speed he would’ve been great.
One of the finest defenders we ever had, smooth and composed on the ball, read the game well, excellent positioning, and a good passer to boot.
Would love to see him in the future train our defenders in the youth ranks, and impart some of that know how.
It was great that Ćorluka got meaningful minutes in Russia.
He was a smooth technical player who came up big in big moments.
This generation can do no more.
