Well, it looked as if Slovenia were playing for a draw at Poljud, but that’s not our problem.
This Croatian side – without Modrić – came out with urgency tonight in Split to thump Slovenia 3-0 in World Cup qualifying. There were tons of chances down the flanks in the 1st half which multiple shots that should have gone in. Andrej Kramarić couldn’t hit water if he was standing on a boat in the middle of the ocean, but we can critique his drought in Croatian checkers later. Hajduk’s own Marko Livaja headed home a ball off the post in the 33′ that relaxed everyone inside Poljud wearing a Croatian shirt. The pressure kept coming as Ivan Perisic sent a perfect pass to Mario Pašalić in front of goal in the 66′. Nikola Vlašić headed home an insurance goal to make it 3-0 in injury time. Croatia now leaps Russia on goal differential, which is the first tiebreaker in group play.
All in all, a perfect night for the Vatreni as they take 7/9 points from their toughest week of qualifying.
It’s great to see Croatia break out of their goal scoring drought where they only hit the back of the net fives times in five matches (3 against Malta) before tonight. However, the Vatreni have only conceded once in six matches. It happened in the first 15 minutes against Slovenia and its been all clean sheets since.
This is a huge World Cup qualifier for Croatia. If our beloved Vatreni can get all three points against Slovenia at Poljud, they will be in good shape moving forward with only four matches remaining in October and November. Only top spot in Group H gets an automatic berth to Qatar in 2022. Second place must qualify through a 4-team playoff.
We can assume that Russia will beat Malta Tuesday night and finish September with 13 points. If Croatia win, they will match Russia. Slovenia beat Croatia 1-0 back in March on a deflected shot in Ljubljana and couldn’t find the back of the net against Jan Oblak.
Poljud will host 20,000 strong Tuesday night in Split. Hajduk’s Marko Livaja is expected to get the start on his home turf up top for Croatia after Antonio Čolak did not impress against Slovakia. It’s a shame Ante Budimir isn’t at 100% because because this would have been the ideal situation for him to play as Croatia has no go-to striker at the moment.
After the Slovenia match, Croatia hosts Slovakia and Russia while traveling to Malta and Cyprus. It’s a favorable schedule as the Russia match would land on the last day of group play where it may not matter anyways. Russia still have to play Slovakia and Slovenia.

Poland Drew England and what joy that brought me. Lewandowski pointed at his respect badge when the polish fans booed England for kneeling. Hahahaha gotta love it. Polish power.
Wow all that LB talk and completely forgot about bradaric
Maybe him or Sosa could swap In as a lw especially when Perisic retires
Would obviously love to see Canada qualify but I’ve hated Borjan with a passion for years now. Can’t wait till he’s not the #1 anymore, there’s a decent Greek kid who’s 21 or 22 that could replace him.
Anyway, hopefully they qualify and do well in the WC, but let’s make it all like 5-4 wins with Borjan getting absolutely embarrassed every game hahahah
Maxime Crepeau is like a 1b. He’ll be taking over soon hopefully.
True, he did well as the number 1 during the Gold Cup
All the rug rats are happy today , kneeling on the thick carpet basement on their knees wearing out there nice pantelone, cheering for Croatia , look mama we scored , haha . =U= Za Dom
I don’t read much speculation about why Suba Retired right as the World Cup
Ride the hot goalie.
Love how fickle we are.
All it takes is one game and everyone loves Sosa Pasalic and Ivusic.
To be fair, a lot of people here have been calling for a goalkeeper change for a while now.
LB was an issue for a long time too, and we opted to try out benchwarmers on near-relegated Turkish league teams…instead of Bradaric, Sosa and Gvardiol.
A lot of this satisfied reaction are for moves that were called out a long long time ago, that are finally being done.
I’m sure you’ll see a lot of the same when Stanisic gets to start some games next year (he likely won’t even get a chance in the qualifiers in October or November), or if they ever start Sosa and Gvardiol as a LB/CB combo on that left side (ending the Vida/Lovren tandem).
If there’s a ko game tomorrow who you going with Maminjo, Livakovic or Ivusic?
Maybe another half dozen games for Ivusic and I change my tune but right now I go with Livakovic
Sosa and Gvardiol are gonna be awesome together. Hopefully for the next 10+ years
Even though it’s a very small sample, I like what I see from Ivusic.
I think I would take the risk and just stick with Ivusic.
Livakovic doesn’t have that game-changing ability where he makes saves that he is unable or unexpected to make.
He wasn’t bad at the Euros, but at the same time, he didn’t make any saves that were not expected of him.
Ivusic made at least one of those against Slovakia in his first game for us.
Also, Ivusic ‘looks’ like he can manage high balls pretty well and make some decent long passes (things Livakovic struggled badly with).
Watch Ivusic start the next game and let in a couple of howlers, lol
I cringe every time Livakovic touches the ball. How many times does he needlessly give possession away.
I agree with you Pog.
I’m no Livakovic lover but he’s been decent for a long period of time now for the NT. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’ll ever get better because his problem is not lack of skill, it’s confidence and mentality. You just can’t teach that. So I’d go with Livakovic in a big game right now, however, I want us to keep giving Ivusic the starts until he genuinely gets tested for 90 minutes. As of now, he looks better than Liva but he’s played 2 games and Liva like 30.
nah . . this one just fine:
………… Budimir ……….. Livaja ……………
………….……………Modric…………………………
Perisic….Brozovic..Kovacic.…Junovic
……….Gvardiol…Vida…Lovren…………..
………..……………..Ivucic…………..…………….
with this change later ->
………… Budimir ……….. Kramaric …………
………….……………Pasalic…………………………
B Sosa……Modric..Kovacic.…..Stanisic
……..…Gvardiol…Vida…Duje Car…………..
………………………..Ivucic…………..…………….
Your love of Livaković is undeniable but questionable.
IV-IV is the man his presence in the box is one of a hungry Rottweiler while Docile Dom epitomizes the baby lamb just out of the womb.
Weak timid deer in head lights syndrome won’t lead us anywhere!
IV-IV for president!!
This line up seems to work. I believe we should give Kramaric the opportunity to let him work his way through this cold spell. Pasalic seems to have a great feel for opportune positioning like Olic. Livaja is live wire. Not a huge fan of Kovacic with his wide open dribbling style. Always runs into the goalie without getting off a shot . He is a good midfielder with little scoring potential.
Agreed about Kova Dannyj. He’s 27 now and maybe he’s one of those notorious late Croat bloomers that will start to age like fine wine. Seeing him improve lately is fun to watch and who knows…maybe he will get better!
I again have to say even tho Kova has been around forever, he is probably the most improved for us in the last say 6 months to a year
He looked dangerous and was sending quality “forward” passes yesterday
If he can turn his amazing side passes forward regularly we may not completely fall apart when luka leaves
I’m so thrilled for him. He’s become more and more confident and I think he will fill the Modric gap well when he retires. No one can replace Luka but recent Kovacic is a damn good replacement. Elite dribbler and his ball movement is truly improving, he’s trying more things. He’ll never be a scorer, but not everyone can be the complete package like Luka. Let our AM (Majer, Vlasic, Pasalic, etc) score the goals and create goal scoring chances. Kovacic is a dominant midfielder and no one outplays him in the middle of the pitch.
Livaković never “earned” the #1 GK spot.
It was simply given to him because he was the starting keeper on the best team in the HNL.
Our coaching staff has always been this lazy when scouting Croatian goalkeepers. They just pick one of the Dinamo or Hajduk keepers, when they should be scouting all keepers in the HNL as well as the few outside of the HNL.
Livaković is probably not even a top 3 keeper at any point in the HNL.
Grbić had a great year for Lokosi prior to his transfer, and Ivušić had always been highly rated. Kahlina also had a really good year last year, and there is always the odd keeper doing well that we don’t get exposure to (like Andrija Vuković who has been starting in the Turkish league for the past six years).
Glad to see Ivušić play and do well in that Slovakia game. Hopefully it wasn’t just a lucky game and he’s actually a good keeper for us moving forward.
Livakovic has earned everything that’s come his way. Nothing was given to the guy. I trust him way more than anyone else we’ve got. At least he’s got big games under his belt. That’s as valuable as anything
Although I agree with you for the most part and like this goalkeeper competition, you can’t bash Livakovic that badly.
Come on Maminjo, put ur bias against him aside a bit. He’s a very good goalkeeper and insanely skilled. Probably the best Croatian keeper in history when it comes to pure talent and shot stopping ability. Confidence-wise, he’s probably the worst Croatian keeper ever lol. So this evens him out a bit, and I do think he’d get exposed in a better league until he learns and adapts. His skill is enough to get by in the HNL, but not in a top 5 league. If he had Ivusic’s height and confidence he’d be 10x the keeper Ivica is. But mentality makes up 90% of a keeper so I like seeing Ivusic getting chances.
@Dannyj you’re right about the bad taste in the mouth. If Milan was a just some Serb guy, and didn’t say that fucking bullshit like he did, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I would want Canada to at least qualify…man I’m having a real hard time with this….lol!!
I really wonder why livakovic was held on to for so long?
They may have really didn’t have top offers for him
I feel dalic will go back to livakovic, but I sure hope he swaps him out if he is shitting the bed
I have not really seen this… goalies actually being swapped out after a couple bad goals mid game like hockey
I realize it takes a substitution…
Maybe they will share the work load for now
I forget who said it, but sometimes some healthy competition is just what the doctor ordered
It just doesn’t make sense that we can’t produce something like an oblak with our genetics
Dannyj, you were talking about Canada soccer. I was watching them play the other night and noticed the goalie Milan Borjan. I googled him because his name sounded like it was from that region. Lo and behold he was born in Knin but claims he was born in “Serbia Dalmatia” and basically that Croats are Serbs. Me being born in Canada to Croat parents, the vatreni always come first no matter what, but I did want to see Canada qualify. But with this fucking goalie dip shit….now I’m not so sure I want them to. Or maybe if Canada qualifies and Croatia lays a patch on them 6-0 and embarasses that prick Milan, that would be cool too!
Ya I looked him up last week he plays for red star
I agree, I got a bad taste in the mouth but I still root for Canada to do something
Obviously, fuck them all as long as we win:)
Borjan is a fucking pussy. Claims to be Canadian, meanwhile born in Croatia territory and has greater Serbia ideology. He also claims that he’s from Dalmatia which is Croatian land haha. Fuck Canada too. Team is full of imports like France & England.
Maybe Canada needs to actually be full of English and French players as it’s what the country was originally;)
That would be ironic
I think Livakovic is not the number foward hasnt done much to lose the job but ivusic has been top keeper in hnl and livakovic is still in dinamo lille wanted him but went with chepaer Grbic. Livi needs to leave dinamo imo to grow he has alot of weakness imo.
Ivusic has been best hnl keeper imo last season. Dinamo bought Nevistic from rijeka and sent him on loan to lomokmotiva because they could not sell him plus conceded 8 goals at euros and nobody gave that much for him
I meant to say i know ivusic is also in hnl like livakovic but livakovic needs a challenge hes been pushed since he was 20 as number one keeper but i just dont see it. Yes he will.make saves but i dont feel like he has a presence i felt it with ivusic but healthy competion brings best out of players If Grbic plays for lille and is good 3 keeps Livakovic Ivusic Grbic. No more Kalinic Sluga for me.
The job should be Ivusic’s to lose. He got his chance and took it well. I think he deserves a starting position if he continues to play well.
Is it ivusic job to lose now?
Or do we go back to livakovic?
Split the work?
I like to see more of ivusic. There was a shot from a bit outside that went just wide yesterday but he looked like he had it
I think livakovic just doesn’t have that reach and presence he needs
I think Dalic will still default to Livakovic.
However, if Livakovic is still a little bit injured, then Dalic will likely stick with Ivusic (which would be great).
This injury may have cost Livakovic a chance at a transfer outside Cro.
Assuming Ivusic takes over as the #1, that’s pretty much it for Livakovic leaving Dinamo for a bigger contract.
The pay at Dinamo is pretty decent, but for some outside club to pay a transfer and top the salary would only happen if Livakovic continues to gain good exposure as the #1 keeper on the National Team. Not many people come banging the door down to snag a Croatian keeper otherwise.
Sure there are some younger keepers that left Cro like Semper, Pandur, Ziger and Posavec, but they were snagged for cheap and are paid peanuts.
But in terms of transferring from a HNL team for a bigger salary elsewhere, it’s pretty uncommon.
I saw Alphonso Davies was potentially injured
Not that I want him injured as he is a big hope for Canada to one day maybe qualify for a World Cup
But I can’t help but want stanisic to get more time for Bayern potentially as it can only help the repka
It’s pretty great to have more and more depth then in a long time on the back line
If vrsaljko ever finds form again it will be great but juranovic is proving to be solid enough back there
And stanisic should be potentially up with the big boys in a year or two?
And on the left sosa gvardiol and barisic give different looks
I don’t know what the player ratings were yesterday but barisic looked quite solid
You “can’t help but want” Stanisic to get more time for Bayern over Alphonso Davies?!?
You’d better want him to.
This is CroatianSports.com not CanadaSports.com.
The longer Davies is out the better for Stanisic’s development which benefits the Croatian National Team.
Davies plays on the left, Stanisic the right so I’m not sure how the injury has any bearing on playing time.
That’s what I thought
But didn’t Stanišić get time last go around cause of Davies injury?
No. Someone else was injured.
Pavard was injured.
Dude, Davies is a left back and Stanisic a right back. Not even same position, don’t worry.
I cant wait for russia game im gonna go again its 3 on a sunday nice day game and dir po splitu before and after game
How much are tickets?? Canadian asking…
The price will be realsed in november problay cheapest 15 dollars most expensive 40 dollars Canadian

Frenchman and Slovenac, if you’re such big Catholics, do you think Christ would be pleased with you guys insulting your Catholic brothers on the vigil of the Feast of our Lady’s nativity?
May our Lord have mercy on you!
Baka, do you work for Pfizer or Moderna? Pharmafascist.
Naši dečki are playing well (and there’s a lot of room for major improvements). Dalić is a solid coach. Many of you guys need to cool it with the over the top, end of the world criticisms whenever things are going a little less than smooth.
Calm down.
We’ll make another good run in Qatar…and probably win it all!!!
Napred!!!
Bog i Hrvati
Grow up kid, if the truth is insulting to you that’s your problem, nothing I said was false.
I was just glad to see the @Slovenac not taking your shit when you call Slovenes “alpine Serbs,” that he called you guys Catholic Serbs was funny. What you wrote about me you may as well of wtote to @Kralj Tomislav, but you didn’t, I wonder why? Is he allowed to talk shit about Slovenes “on the vigil of the Feast of our Lady’s nativity”?
I’m not insulted at all. I merely asked you if you think Christ would be pleased by what you wrote. You wrote that ‘God will punish these deceitful Croats’.
I’m curious as to why someone with such deep-seated anti-Croat sentiments is such an avid follower of this website.
You appear to have some unresolved inner conflict that needs attention. I recommend a good spiritual director (there are many excellent religious orders in France, you should have no problem finding one).

Frenchman, I don’t read your posts in a spirit of enmity at all, but you seem to focus a lot your attention on the political situation in Croatia and then blame all Croats for the current state of affairs. Do you really believe that elections are determined by the will of the people? Today even the highest echelons of our Holy Church seem to be infested with communists and freemasons, maybe even satanists (God forbid)!
We get the leaders we deserve. It is God who grants authority. The more sinful we are, the worse are the leaders that are given to us.
The Catechism states that before the return of our Lord, there will be a great apostasy. This is what is happening now in Croatia and all the ‘West’.
If you are so concerned for Croatia, you would probably do more good by praying for her and fasting than by posting things that further divide Catholic from Catholic.
As I am sure you know, ‘the road is narrow that leads to salvation and there are few who find it.’ and ‘many are called but few are chosen.’ When the people finally decide to make Christ the King of their lives, then God will grant us good leaders on earth. Until then, we must suffer under these servants of the enemy.
May God grant that we remove the beam from our own eye so that we can help our brothers remove the splinter from theirs. (Today’s Gospel).
Bog te blagoslovi
“Do you really believe that elections are determined by the will of the people?”
In Croatia, yes I do.
Anyway, @Kralj Zvonimir said,
“Goooooooooool gooooool goooool….! 2-0…! Fuck those Alp serbs. Mini-serbs in disguise.”
You left that comment alone, or were you happy to allow him to “further divide Catholic from Catholic”?
Slovenians are Catholic but that mentally retarded cetnik calling himself @Kralj Zvonimir is trying to divide Catholic from Catholic by calling them Serb, and you didn’t say anything to him, perhaps you don’t read his comments because they don’t interest you?
We know you read mine, perhaps you find them more interesting than his childish ones?
Actually i dont care if you’re not vaccinated as long as you sign a waiver that says you wont seek a hospital bed if Covid hits you hard. Quite simple really.
You could make your same argument for anyone who is overweight, does drugs, has unprotected sex, or doesn’t keep tabs on their health with a regular physical.
For an apparent Croat, you have a pretty anti-Catholic pseudo-Yugoslav view of things.
But it’s currently anti-vaxxers that are filling up icu’s so people that let’s say got in a bad wreck can’t get a hospital bed. Nemoze jare i pare.
Again. Please don’t label people in at attempt to persecute them. It’s very anti-Catholic.
Calling on atheist government authorities to persecute your Catholic brothers (and leave them for death) is about the most spineless thing anyone can do.
Just as an FYI…
ICUs are generally always run at 75% during normal non-pandemic years.
These spikes of COVID cases may push them up near 100%, but the overwhelming majority are still those who suffer from drug abuse, alcohol abuse, heart disease and other diet or health-related issues.
Also, the ICUs are not just ‘anti-vaxxers’ as you put it. Many are vaccinated as well (despite the media cherry picking stats from certain days) and the overwhelming majority of all hospital deaths are those in the 70+ age range (or those who live with serious comorbidities).
The reality is, those who are very old or have an immunocompromised system have to taken care of by us (regardless of their vaccination status) and the world doesn’t need sick-minded people like you labeling and calling out people to have them die.
Otherwise you could apply your reasoning to the majority of hospital and ICU deaths resulting from heart disease, drug overdose, alcohol abuse, STDs, and attempted suicides.
the vast majority are unvaccinated people. In my state they are having to send people to different states that have more openings. No one said the Vaccine 100% protects you it just greatly reduces the risk of serious complications, so with that being said yes some in the ICU’s are vaccinated but about 95%+ of covid cases in the iCU’s are unvaccinated people. Basic statistics. Also just because the stats dont suit your unscientific claims doesnt mean they are cherry picked.
“ohh thats right, you must be one of those big big catholics that doesnt believe in science”
Actually I dont know where you get your data and facts from but the Delta variant is actually going after younger people and many people are dying without any pre conditions. Delta is a different animal so what you are saying is incorrect.
No this reasoning cannot be applied in with heart disease, drug and alcohol and all that other stuff, we are currently in a Covid Pandemic and the hospitals are over whelmed because selfish unvaccinated people are filling up the hospitals.
Another idea is that insurance should stop covering unvaccinated medical costs unless of course a person is not able to be vaccinated due to medical conditions.
Lol also you wont hurt my feelings with your Catholic claims. I dont care, I dont have to be a great Catholic, I really dont care to the slightest. You people claim to be these good religious folks and then when God gives peopel the ability to create a vaccine you choose to ignore it. Give me a break.
You still didn’t adress your false claim that ICU beds are taken up by unvaccinated COVID patients.
Despite the pandemic, ICU bed are still largely being occupied by people suffering from heart disease, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, attempted suicides, etc. COVID has added to this and pushed it to the limit, but at no point are COVID patients the majority of ICU admissions.
So, your suggestion that unvaccinated COVID patients deserve to be left for dead is baseless. If you truly believe that those with self-inflicted illness deserve to die, then there is a greater claim to leave those having heart attacks, attempted suicides, drug overdoses, etc to die instead, since these are the ones who occupy the most ICU beds on a daily basis.
Just because we are currently in a “COVID pandemic” doesn’t give you some right to cut off people’s insurance or leave them for dead.
Many argue that we are in an “opioid crisis” too, so why not cut off the druggies as well?
Also, btw, you should look at the epidemiological reports (and not news reports) before you make claims of the delta variant is ‘going after’ young people.
I work in British Colombia (Canada) and no children or young teens have died. No children in the entire country of Canada have died actually. The youngest was an Ontario girl who was 13 and she was obese, diabetic and she also mainly died because her family was in isolation so they took her to the hospital way too late.
Yet the opioid crisis seems to kill a lot of teenagers here, but nobody cares.
We’ve gone 12 straight months in our province with a minimum of 150 overdose deaths. That’s not an average, that’s a minimum (likely exacerbated by lockdowns).
More young people with opioid overdoses occupy ICU beds versus young COVID patients, and it’s not even close. This is a bigger epidemic that is killing the young, but it’s not on the news so you don’t care.
So your “reasoning” can easily be applied to anything, especially when these other deaths and ICU bed occupancy rates are much higher than anything COVID related (especially in the young).
BTW, I’m not against the vaccine. I’m just against people calling for the deaths of others because they failed to obey them.
ugh… Yes because hospitalization can be easily avoided in 99% of people by just having the vaccine. Yes of course ICU beds usually have people in them but unvaccinated covid patients are pushing them over the threshold. quite simple data to read really..
The cumulative data to-date in our Federal epidemiological report shows that 82% of deaths were unvaxxed, but this report starts counting in December 2020 (prior to the vaccines being available to all).
Despite the very successful vaccine rollout here, the hospitalizations have not improved.
Look, in BC we have almost 80% of the population double vaxxed, we have lockdowns, and we have vaxx passports. We also have internal borders that block unvaxxed Canadians from entering the province too.
Despite all this, we still have ICU beds being taken up and put to the limit.
So, no, hospitalizations cannot be “easily avoided”.
Sadly, most of these hospitalizations and beds are STILL being taken up by those in the 70+ age range from long term care homes. So the problem lays almost entirely in that age group…yet the media keeps talking about kids.
It also astounds me that someone who got vaxxed in January is allowed to work with old patients in a long term care home. Pfizer even stated that protection lasts six months, and the CDC says that vaxxed can spread anyway (as they have the same viral load as unvaxxed).
So, why are these workers exempt from regular testing?
It’s absurd.
They ‘incentivized’ nurses and care workers by telling them if they’re vaxxed then they don’t need to be tested…but sorry, they should always be tested on a weekly basis regardless of their vaxx status.
I think that the sooner people realize that the vaccine is not the silver bullet to fix this, the better we will all be.
We’re still ignoring the old, and the old are still dying.
All the while, government is politicizing the vaccine for political gain while big pharma rakes in the cash.
Other than promoting a healthy lifestyle…we need to accept regular testing (for those who work in cancer wards and long term care homes), remote working (for any industry that can), natural immunity antibody testing, and vaccines as multiple tools in the toolbox, and we need to use all of them.
Sorry about insulting you earlier. Just upset at the division I see in people over this overpoliticized situation.
In “Israel” the hospitals are full with the vaccinated.
We don’t get enough credit for our home games for qualifying. Last one we lost was in 2013 against Scotland. That’s insane..we are mental giants when it comes to home field advantage. 3 losses at home since 2009 til now.
Pasalic-6’2, Budimir 6’3 and Colak 6’2. Enough said to start these guys over our other forwards. Petkovic is too slow to keep up with the pace with our mids.
Kramaric can’t finish if his life depended on it. Cut him and start Budimir, Pasalic at CF instead.
Pasalic at cf…. Pa ti nemas pojma!!
100% istina- sorry, I’m sure he is a nice guy but not a finisher for Croatia- maybe for club team but not for us- he was an admirable helper in 2018 but beyond that we have to move on – your suggestions are exactly what we need.
Kramaric is merely going through a dry spell with the Repka…. I guarantee he will be scoring for us in bunches soon.
Did I read that correctly on Zvonarek???
They are saying he could conceivably be part of Bayern’s squad next year as a 17 year old??
The “Next Luka modric!”tag does scare me!
Kinda, but the “they” isn’t Bayern, it’s a former coach of his, so yeah, huge grain of salt required. Nonetheless, it’s still exciting.
I think our generation from 2022 to 2026 will be fine. No imports or refugees needed.
Just Russia now fighting for the first spot. That last game in Split will be wild and can’t wait. It’s crazy how much better Ivusic is than Liva. No other former yugo teams making. Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, and Montenegro are all garbage. Serbia will make playoffs but doubtful they will make Qatar. Happy to see Livaja score his first and in his hometown
https://bulinews.com/news/9929/joachim-sauer-confirms-bayerns-targeting-croatian-and-american-youngsters
Interesting read on Zvonarek.
Isn’t it amazing what a tactical genius Dalic is when we finally have a great performance?
Our last home game against the Russians, hopefully we don’t need points and can play the young guns…needing just a tie won’t be good and automatically puts us in cautious bunker mode.I would rather need a win to ensure a hungry” attack mode!” side where we play desperate and aggressive!
He’s still a dumb ass, but he’s learning.
Unvaccinated weren’t allowed to go to the game.
Wow. Really?
No thats not true i went just had to get test at spaladium arena and show test at stadium gate.
The atmosphere wasn’t great like old days no ultras it was like an american sports arena game but great game overall. Watching live you could see everyone was atop of their game. Krama wad great just didnt score.
Miki is right, my bad, I got my info from a Croat on youtube, who claims that’s how HRT reported it.
good
also when I went to the Hajduk game they required everyone unvaccinated to test negative and they had a testing center right next to Poljud. But I hope they did change their rules to not let anyone unvaccinated in.
Did they test the vaccinated, because you do know they can still spread it?
So they were testing the unvaccinated asymptomatic people lol, and what happens if they return a positive test, you don’t let them in to protect the vaccinated?
Depth was the key this past week.
We finally looked the fresher and more energetic side.
Away to Cyprus and home to Slovakia in October should call for 180 + minutes of the same energy.
Dalić has cracked the code with our depth.
Find out who is healthy and in form and utilize the full squad again in October.
I see Modrić as our #10 going forward like the beginning of his career.
He is so skilled in the final third to create goal scoring opportunities.
Kovačić and Brozovic have the 6/8 duties down.
Perišić minutes were handled well this week.
I love the 5 sub rule, as we have the squad and Dalic is making better and better adjustments.
Bringing a physicality to match our footballing nous is a formidable combination.
starting eleven for the next match ->
……….. Budimir ……….. Livaja ……………
…………………….Pasalic………………………
Perisic…..Modric…..Kovacic……Juravic
……….Gvardiol…Vida…Lovren……………
……………………..Ivucic……………………….
tell me you never played the game at any decent level with out telling me you never played at any decent level lol
It looks like playing in Split is the trigger that turns around our qualifying campaign again.
This happened last time too.
We lost to Hungary 1-0 to start our Euro qualifiers, and then we beat them in Split 3-0 and carried that momentum for the rest of our games.
It seems like the exact same thing is happening this time around where we lost to Slovenia 1-0 and now we gave them a 3-0 beating in Split to gain momentum for the latter half of qualifying.
Also, I think Pašalić, Budimir and Oršić need to be our supersubs moving forward.
The three of them were responsible for our comeback against Spain at the Euros, and these qualifiers are showing us that it was no fluke.
We also now have Sosa and Juranović for crosses, which they can feed off of.
If our offense gets stale, I would sub all three of them into a game at the same time.
We lost to Hungary 2-1.
Yeah but then slapped them in Split. We always play better at home.
True but so do most. We do it better though for sure.
Well done @Slovenac, don’t take shit from these Yugoslavs, they don’t even know that they haven’t had one anti-communist president in their short history, but still talk shit about others, they should all have a look at themeslves the fu**ing izdajice!
God will punish these deceitful Croats.
@Kralj Zvonimir
Is that the King the Croats killed?
Catholic Slovenes beat the Catholic Serbs once.
Catholic Serbs beat the Catholic Slovenes once.
1-1 it’s all good.
You are an idiot, just like Frenchman. Who doesn’t love trolls, especially after a 3-0 beatdown that should have been 8-0. And who scored the goal for Slovenia in the win against Croatia? A Croatian of course. At least you have Doncic. But then again, he isn’t fully Slovenian either. lol
Maybe we won’t be pooched when Luka retires .
We seemed to move the ball around better than we ever have.I say retire #10 immediately we don’t need him!!;)
I missed the actual vlasic goal at the end
But I really didn’t see how he played poorly as a couple guys said
He did that one play when he almost walked it in
He had a possible play for a pass across a somewhat open man but I think he was even surprised to get around the D and oblak
I am in the belief of a couple others if budimir gets hot as he was last couple years he can be a game changer for us
Keeper is a huge deal like others have said
When you know you have a guy like say oblak you know you can take a couple risks and open up When you know your goalie can make most moderate saves and soem big ones and also not be petrified to play it back to the keeper it’s a whole other game
I don’t think anyone here can say you feel safe with livakovic playing the ball at his feet
I still say, we have a guy like ivusic against Spain, he doesn’t let 5 in
Again no hate to livakovic, I want him to be great, but he just doesn’t instil confidence
I know ivusic wasn’t really tested today but he controlled the ball and held on to it as needed
He is a big boy and doesn’t look like a bitch
Hard for dalic not to go back with him after two shut outs
The real positive here is we only have let one goal in all qualifying
And it was a lucky goal at that
Room for improvement, yes. But let’s build off this and know we are in a good spot
If we can take 9 points from Slovakia Cyprus and Malta we may not even need to beat Russia at the end
The alpski serbs take a beating. Love it.
They tied the Irish haha
The Croatian commies are calling Slovenians Serb.
Shouldn’t you be saying ZCS1992, the C stands for communism?
I was referring to Serbia tying Ireland… I have no issue with Slovenia
That is what I am talking about.
Splićani came correct in front of the home fans at Poljud.
Kramaric played his best game in a LONG time, unlucky to not score one.
Barišić was fantastic .. hmmm .. maybe depth and competition brings out the best in players .. go figure?
Kovačić unsung hero this week.
Brozovic is a world class #6/8.
Time to get PAID.
Dalic deserves credit as these 7 pts and first place without Modrić or Budimir for that matter was a challenge.
Russia has to deal with a hungry Slovakia and a Slovenia who has quality.
We keep the mojo going against Malta and Cyprus and have the full crew for Russia at Poljud.
I enjoyed those cut back balls today that created scoring chances.
Ante Budimir has to have a look in October.
We get a serviceable #9 and we are in business.
Hey Ivusic came out of now where to bring a presence in the back maybe Budimir can bring it up top.
Dude plays in La Liga.
Today was a good effort. Execution still leaves a lot to be desired.
Livaja is not a good player. Sure he scored today, but 99.9% of the world’s professional soccer players would have scored that goal.
Vlasic scored but was mostly useless.
Ivanusec displayed why he still plays for Dinamo.
Brozovic is our most important player. When he’s on, he’s incredible.
Barisic has some silky ball skills.
Ivusic might be the biggest game changer we’ve seen in years. Man, he just exudes confidence and I believe that our somewhat fragile defence feeds off of that. Vida and Lovren looked great. So did Barisic, Juranovic and DCC when he came on.
Great point…a hot keeper instills confidence in the backline. We always complain about Lovren and Vida, but they looked good today.
What makes Pasalic so effective is that he gets into the right place at the right time. He finds space coming from midfield, which leads to his scoring chances. As a forward, he would be more tightly marked and he may not find that space. That is why he needs to stay at attacking midfield.
Yeah hes no forward.
He’s a big elegant #10.
Much like myself..
Agreed, I really like it when Pasalic plays behind the striker. Provides another option for goal scoring like today.
I see lots of people bashing Kramaric here. It’s not fair, the guy really creates lots of open spaces and opportunities for other players, he makes great passes and sets up great goal chances. I think he should not play as lone striker. Remember the game against Greece where he almost single handedly trashed them with 2 of the 4 goals and set up the last one? He played as a retracted CAM and that role was perfect for him. He’s too small and weak to pose a threat as single striker.
Let’s not forget we dont even qualify for WC2018 without his two goals away to Ukraine in the final must-win match. I often wonder what’s different now and then that he seems SO out of sorts for us. We HAVE seen him do it for the repka before (despite some of us on this site having shorter memories than would allow recalling that!).
Pasalic has all the qualities to be a very good #9.
When everyone is healthy, I don’t see him as a starter in any other position anyway.
Please Dalic, this may be the solution we have desperately needed.
That is a good point. Pasalic can be the next mandza with his aerial threat. Just needs to increase his urgency on the park
Pasalic is not a number 9. He’s psychically that strong that he can show up in front of the goal the entire game. That’s his strong point: with him on the pitch you always have a second striker when crosses arrive.
Interesting thing will be seeing how we line up with Modric back. You know Brozovic will stay on, Kovacic has been playing well so do you A) put modric in the AM role or B) put Kova there C) bench kova (which i think is not an option). I guess its a good problem to have but not one I would personally want to solve.
Yeah drop KRAMARIC to the bench and search for a more dynamic poacher… I think we all have forgotten PETKOVIC lol..ah well he had his chance(way to sluggish and no aggression if you ask me.. outweighs his strengths unfortunately)
Like LIVAJA deserves to be on current team… PASALIC offers alot and if he don’t start should be at least on the bench.. this would be my ideal lineup today if SUCIC was part of the team!
MAJER ORSIC IVANUSEC MORO JAKIC BARISIC DCC UREMOVIC VRSAJKO(if he plays and shows form)
so many young guys coming up will be interesting post modric.. like juranovic but seems like the R(W)B position is our current depth issue.
Ivusic is a beauty too in goal.. like his style and composure.. we have solid options there no worries
——————–SUCIC——————–
—–PERISIC————–VLASIC——
———–MODRIC–KOVACIC——–
–SOSA—–BROZOVIC—-JURAN.
——–GVARDIOL—LOVREN——–
Livaja is no superstar, but I like him much better than Petkovic.
At least the guy is hungry.
Slovenia looked bad today. I’m guessing Kek blew his load in our first game against them and he has no new answers.
Interesting perspective today. Lets not forget we are without Petkovic, Rebic and Brekalo. Our lineup controlled the game from beginning to the end, we had very little difficulty in maintaining possession and we turned it on near the end….but I’m not overly impressed…I’ve seen us play like this or better many times and we still lack finishing.
I was very happy to see Pasalic play well today, he looked sharp all around.
Kramaric looks desperate and its causing him to make some bad decisions.
Vlasic scored but he’s been below average.
Lets see if some of our guys can get their form in top gear and we get a few more good performances in…I was tired of watching all those shitty performances, waiting for that one moment we can cheer!
Kek is overrated. We have fools on this site telling us he should be our national coach. Lol.
Our team is in a great position after this win.
I still think Kek is a brilliant coach. He did beat us in Ljubljana. Taking 3 points from Croatia with this Slovenian team is amazing.
They don’t have too many decent players. Kek had to sub in Jurcevic, a guy who doesn’t even make it to the starting 11 of Osijek.
And he had to play Ilicic. A great player but nowadays with some serious overweight. 10 kilos at least.
But I don’t think we should consider replacing Dalic. The players fought hard on this pitch. Not only today but also in Russia and Slovakia. I’m convinced that the players still believe in their coach.
Agree with the comment below. Dalic needs to try Pasalic at CF.
Can’t be worse than what we have now.
I’m sure he can finish off those Sosa, and to a lesser degree Juranovic, crosses.
Agreed about Pasalic comments…I’ve always said that he “finds himself in the right spot” often. Its not luck, he reads the game well and knows where to position himself.
Great game all around. Easily the best game since the WC.
Pasalic may not be the quickest player but he is always well positioned, great in the air and finds the net. Unless something happens he should be the CAM going forward.
Hrvatska atop the group!
All’s right again in football.
King Zlatko his righted the ship
Many positives from this match. Not really any negatives. Oblak is a world-class keeper, so that fact that he made some saves is no surprise. Rather than bashing Kramaric from not scoring, I praise him for taking so many shots and opening up so many holes in the Slovenian defense. The cheeky shot from Barisic was good too—he nearly caught Oblak off guard. I liked seeing the physicality from Vida and Pasalic too going for the balls in the air. Kovacic was excellent, nearly even dribbled himself onto the scoresheet. Livaja may be short, but he has range. I liked him as the striker. Even Lovren was solid. 😀
Lovren easily was our best player today.
The second goal was Lovren all the way: he opened to Perisic with a perfect ball over 50 meters. Perisic got past his defender and crossed to Pasalic who scored.
And that was not his only good long ball.
Damn it
Missed the third goal
Was it nice??
Who cares, that may be a huge goal for us later on
We can get some against Cyprus and Malta
Who does Russia have left?
It’s ours to lose
If that final game is anywhere except split then fuck the HNS
3-0 against the Alp serbs. Well played, boys. This bodes well for our chances of first place and direct qualifications to the World Cup….!
Huge goal!!
1 more than Russia now
If livakovic is in net for Slovenia we win by 4-5, prove me wrong
Some wasted chances but overall got to like the movement
Sure it was Slovenia but we outclassed them well
Good stuff to build on
Ya I never got the pasalic hate
He doesn’t make all Ton happen alone but he seems to find the net
Turn him into a striker
Can’t be any worse then rebic there
Man I want krama to break through but doesn’t look like it’s happening
Kova becoming more and more boss out there.
6 games and 1 GA. Ill take it.
Well it’s advantage us since we’ve already played Slovenia, Slovakia and Russia away from home. All our hardest games are done, that isn’t the case for the others.
Nice last second goal to put us in first spot in the group on goal diff. Well done all!
Sometimes I think, fuck it, Split should be the capital city of Croatia. Zagreb could still be the economic/business capital (no. 2), lots of countries do it that way. The heart of Croatia, the passion, the real Croats really live in Split and Dalmatia. And this comes from a guy who has 100% family from Slavonia/Posavina. I love Split and their fiery Croatian passion, God damn it…!
Spalato is a shite hole. But so is Zagreb for that matter. Dalmatia must have been taught their “fieriness” from the Talijani. I do love me some pomodori i prsut with a side of fazol. Dinamo runs the show & always will…
@Ban Jelačić AKA Vojvoda Mihailović AKA Živa Istina AKA Frenchman AKA Slovenac…wow dude, you’ve got some serious mental issues. But hey, so does 90% of your inbred, low IQ nation. Did you see the IQ map of Europe? Your beloved servia is right at the absolute bottom, together with Albania and Montenegro. The Splićani and Dalmatians showed their fieriness when they beat the crap out of your inbred, bearded četniks and Italians in WWII. Now go take your medication.
We really should have scored more goals.
Poglavnik- i agree there is something about Pasalic- just a smooth player – and Anonymous- Kramaric is a mental mess when he plays for the big team- he’s just can’t get out of his own way- I’m sure he wants to go to the club team as fast as he can.
And Russia up 2-0 nothing too.
Shitty..
@myself (Kralj Zvonimir)…well except for Ilicic and Lovric which are Croats, of course…
Everytime I watch Pasalic I like the kid! He knows how to play. Good brain on him
Kramaric – wannabe Modric – embarrassing outside of the boot attempt – what a moron
Goooooooooool gooooool goooool….! 2-0…! Fuck those Alp serbs. Mini-serbs in disguise.
Pasalic!!!!!
Kramaric looks so bloody weak – like his legs weigh 20 lbs each- how can a guy play club ball so well and then puts on the country grb and now he’s weighed down like an old man with arthritis? Makes no bloody sense.
To me, Perisic looks off. He appears highly motivated, but he’s been wasteful.
Kramaric has to score on that chance. I don’t know how many more chances he’ll get. He does look lively nonetheless.
Our best half since the WC…sosa with pasalic and budimer will form a lethal combination in the air I can’t wait to see it happen!
We need goals for tie breaks
Let’s hope for a couple more!
We need Kek oblak and their wonder kid striker
Trade them for dalic halilovic and mamic
Great combo and goal! Dalic switched the lineup a bit and it worked. We’re all over Slovenia and Oblak is keeping them in this game. Need a goalie like him.
Great goal from daddy livaja. He’s so cute.
Finally. Maybe on to something with this Livaja/Pasalic combo.
Pasalic although quiet at times does have a knack of scoring and creating.
Seeing him in the air combined with his height makes me think we could be a decent CF……
He’s good without the ball.
Good positioning, and follows the play well without the ball.
But he’s not good with the ball at his feet.
He’s good if we are sending in balls from the wing, which we are doing in this game.
Sorry for blowing up the comments today but Pasalic seems to be the only one of our boys that can win an offensive header.
Anddddd the pressure pays off… NICE WORK!
Ajducki sin!!!
Ive just woken up and watched a few mins but it seems like we are putting a lot of pressure on them which is good
We are definitely creating more which is encouraging.
Still, we are often hit the breaks and playing the ball backwards on a breakout.
Barisic doesn’t offer much. Really wish Sosa was playing.
I’m surprised we play both Kova and Brozo – not complaining that’s for sure! Without Modric they are key.
Look at me Livaja playing well so far in front of the home crowd.
We are creating
I get it oblak is great but come on krama finish that
Also I like that he is less selfish but there was that other chance he should have taken the shot
Still tho, we look promising overall
Hes actually looking decent today in my opinion.
no confidence left in the front half
Jesus, Kramaric has to score those. Right at the keeper.
i think i see a cetnik on the field?
Put in Rebic- he’s our only hope -heehaw!!!
jesus fucking christ, its like our forwards dont want to score.
Pašalić overpassed it. He needed to just bury that chance.
That team line up should be interesting, hope it works out. Livaja has been putting in strong performances at Hajduk .
Odd that Livaja is playing behind the striker at CAM and Pasalic at RW.
But I guess they will switch it up during gameplay.
We’ll need wing support as we have Barisic and Uremovic at LB/RB, and neither will be advancing too far forward.
Perisic is good on that left side, but we shouldn’t be expecting Pasalic to be doing much for us on that right side. Livaja is a winger, but usually is on the left side.
Slovenia can just crowd the middle with this lineup.
We may need to sub in Juranovic or Orsic to make runs up the right side.
In the cover photo of Lovren jumping for the header with the Slovenian player why is his elbow now connection with the players head? hmmmmm? He can actually jump with his arms at his sides?!?!?!
Sosa was left out due to rest.
Anyone have a stream?
https://sportsbay.org/watch/119148/1/croatia-vs-slovenia-live.html
I guess we need to blow the qualifiers and then lovren vida will retire
Dalic planned on starting Gvardiol in the first game if it wasn’t for his pre-game injury. DCC is close too but hasn’t played one game at club level neither has Pongracic. So there aren’t many high level options before you starting picking guys that haven’t proven anything at the highest level. Don’t worry, Gvardiol, DCC, and Pongracic should be ready by the time the World Cup comes around. Kind of sad if Lovren or Vida aren’t called to the WC squad….
@dannyj
Time travel is nice. Didn’t wanna spoil the final score though 😉
Oh boy… SN is usually pretty reliable before game time and this is what they say it’s gonna look like:
————————————Livaja—————————————–
Perisic————————Pasalic————————-Kramaric
——————-Kovacic—————–Brozovic————————
Barisic—————-Lovren———-Vida—————-Juranovic
————————————Ivusic—————————————–
Honestly just fire Dalic immediately and spare us the embarassment of this game. Livaja is not a striker, Pasalic is dogshit whenever he starts, so is Krama and you play him on the wing??? Lovren-Vida says it all and Barisic is back in when Sosa’s been playing extremely well? This lineup is completely baffling. Thank God Ivusic is there but only a miracle will save us today.
I have no more words. I don’t even know what to say anymore.
Split needs to rile these players up or we’re fucked.
Did Dalic leave Sosa out of the team because he was afraid some fans in Split would turn against him if things would not work out like planned? I really suppose so.
It also looks as if Dalic tries to win the support of the fans in Split by playing as many as possible Splitcani and not one player who now plays his football in Zagreb.
Didn’t someone say barisic dad is some sort of mafia big wig?
Probably getting the gears from the underworld to play his son
Who knows maybe dalic is trying to throw games
At least the youth look promsing
How Sosa doesn’t play is baffling
Say what you want about not living a zds lifestyle but he has looked good moving forward in just two games
who would you start?
Budimir injured, Petkovic, Rebic and Brekalo not called, Vlasic has been horrible…I honestly have no idea what we should do at this point, we just are not lethal at all!!
Cro u14 predicted a ljubicic goal off the bench
He scored a really nice finish a couple mins off the bench
Bring him up, he ain’t gonna do worse then what we are doing offensively right now
Ljubicic is definitely looking good, just needs to find some consistency. A lot of these guys will start getting chances likely after the World Cup when a lot of our veterans likely retire. Roko Simic is also on Salzburg’s CL squad so who knows maybe he lights it up with their youth team and gets some minutes, but it will be tough because they have the Slovenian wonderkid Sesko and a couple others too.
Bosko Sutalo looked pretty good at RB even though his main position is a ball playing CB. He could get a main team call up in the near future if he does well on loan at Hellas Verona. Unfortunate that Stanisic got injured right before the break. Would have liked to see if he actually stands out at this level.
Antonio Marin is hitting his stride again like I mentioned below. We’ll see how he does the rest of the season. He’s got a lot of competition to make it to the main team.
I think Sucic gets on the main team for the World Cup at the latest. He just finds a way to contribute to the game no matter who he is playing against.
Biuk will depend on his club form. He wasn’t as good today as he was the other day.
Kacavenda is a very interesting player. Very hard-working and aggressive. Played on the right today and the other day, but he plays more centrally at Lokomotiva.
A lot of guys to keep an eye on in this squad. Vidovic is only 17 and plays for Bayern’s 2nd team. Busnja has been decent for Rijeka this season and looks like a speedy winger, always useful. I actually liked Adrian Liber in midfield too. A bit sloppy at times, but looked good on the ball and worked hard to get it back. And there are others who got hurt/covid right before the break too to consider: Marko Bulat, Ivan Saranic, Marco Pasalic, Mario Vuskovic…etc.
The future always seems to look bright for us, but we just need some of these guys to have the right mentality and not fizzle out at a young age like many before them
A lot of guys were missing from the U21s but it’s really good to see the diaspora come out to support the repka like Pasalic, Vidovic, and Stranisic did.
Who is number 7 on the u21?
He looks to be quite involved
7 is Antonio Marin. He’s been pretty decent this season on loan at Sibenik playing as an attacking mid rather than a winger. He was looking like a flop for a bit so it will be interesting to see how his career goes. Still very young at 20.
Marin needs to be played at AM. He’s a completely different player in the middle of the pitch than he is on the wing tbh. Excellent both games for the U21s and I really hope he can get his career back on track because he has so much talent.
Antonio Marin usually wears #7
Hopefully he can recover and become a quality prospect again.
wow no vlasic or sosa in the starting line up today. Livaja up front with krama on the right wing and pasalic behind livaja. Gotta hand it to Dalic, at least hes trying new stuff.
Where did you see this??? Please tell me you’re joking. I might actually not even bother watching if that’s the lineup.
Also the u21 keeper went flying out to challenge for a ball well past the box
Course they are young and ballsy
But this is the stuff we need
Not this playing for a tie garbage against Slovenia
Hesgoal has a good link
I just started watching from 40mins on
Score is 0-0
But from that 5 minutes
Wow, so dominant
For sure some sloppy play as they are young but anytime they would lose a ball, someone would just hustle hard and get it back
Like this lack of fear which is what the big boys need
Looking forward to the 2nd half and hopefully get a goal making Finland push forward and then I feel we can get a couple more
Anybody with a link to the u-21 game today?
Dalic master demotivator- ” a tie would be nice- a loss even better” – maybe the U10 Croatia coach is free for today’s game?
Another commanding clean sheet today by Ivušić and I say he’s our number 1 replacing Little Boy Livakovic
Yea, that Livakovic injury may end up being huge for us.
Based off the little we saw from Ivusic, he seems to have the same good reflexes as Livakovic in the box…but he actually knows how to handle high balls in his area.
If he does well again today, I really hope Dalic doesn’t try to bring Livakovic back into the #1 spot in next month’s games.
Ivusic playing next month too would solidify his position.
If playing in a full Poljud stadium doesn’t motivate these guys, nothing will.
Amen. Poljud will be rocking. We just need an early goal to open things up. If we do the whole slow build-up bit and wait for it all until the last 20 minutes, that plays into the hands of the Slovenci. They will happily take a point off of us. Keeps them in the race still.
Im going to game should be fun atmosphere hope i dont get bored to death hoping for attacking football ajmo vatreni!
