WHAT. AN. ENDING. IN. ZAGREB!
Marin Šipić hits the back of the net with one second left in the match as Croatia beats Hungary 31-30 at Arena Zagreb in front of 15,000+ screaming Croatian fans. The last gasp quarterfinal win now puts Croatia in the World Handball semifinals against France, who defeated Egypt by one goal Tuesday night. The semifinal will take place Thursday night in Zagreb before the tournament Final heads to Norway for the gold medal match.
I wasn’t able to watch the game but it looked like absolute pandemonium at Arena Zagreb during the final minute. Croatia were down as many as four goals in the final five minutes of the match. But with the game tied at 30-30 and Hungary with possession, Croatia stop the Hungarian attack due to a foul, march down the floor and score at the death. What an ending!
Let’s see what happens against France on Thursday.
That game against Monaco is going to haunt dinamo fans for the rest of their lives. That was the difference between moving on and not
Yes, the Monaco match, but also the 9 – 2 thumping by Bayern. Eleven points and a better goal difference would have been good enough to make it to knock out stage.
Other results not going Dinamo’s way, with ten minutes to go they are in the 25th position and missing out on the knockout stage.
It’s pretty impressive that Dinamo is holding with the likes of AC Milan, granted they are one man down, but still.
Kovacic ties it 1-1 in the 53rd.
Dinamo leading 1 – 0 against AC Milan. AC Milan playing with 10 men after a red card in the 40th minute.
Kulenovic with a huge miss in the 43 minute, it really should have been 2 – 0.
I just watched the France/Egypt highlights.
Luka Karabatic launched a Hail Mary shot from center court with a second left and it went in.
Complete fluke of a goal to win it, but it definitely crossed the line after they checked the video replay.
I still cannot believe that we won this match. We were behind for most of the match and on a couple of occasions we were trailing by 4 goals including the last 5 minutes.
France won their match against Egypt with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. The refs had to check VAR to make sure that the time did not run out before the ball had crossed the goal line.
We have some injuries to key players so it will tough against the French, however playing in front of our own fans in Zagreb we might have a chance?
I don’t think playing at home matters against France. Yesterday the Zagreb arena was not sold out. Many empty seats.
Davor I watched the match and did not see any empty seats. The match between France v Egypt which followed was poorly attended.
(Davor being Davor.)
