Vukojević (L) & Badelj (R) each score for Croatia in 3-1 win
It wasn’t pretty but Croatia got the job done in Malta; injury-free most importantly. Luka Modrić was kept on the bench due to a fever and sat next to Nikica Jelavić, who also didn’t see any playing time in an attempt to keep his legs fresh for the Israel match on Tuesday. There was absolutely no production from the Croatian strikers on the day as starters Ivan Klasnić and Mario Mandžukić looked extremely out of sync. Fortunately, goals came from unfamiliar positions on the team as Ognjen Vukojević struck a ball in the 11′ off a botched Maltese clearance attempt to beat the goalie and a defender on the line. Dinamo Zagreb captain Milan Badelj doubled the lead in the 32′ with a near ‘dummy’ from Mandžukić to put him through free on net for an easy shot.
However, Lyon defender Dejan Lovren was lazily turned around in the 38′ to give Malta an open shot on goal, which captain Mifsud converted. A seemingly second-string Croatia team entered halftime up 2-1 but there should have been more goals. Halftime substitute Nikola Kalinić blew a golden opportunity right after the restart as he found himself right in front of the goal with all the time in the world but shot it straight at the keeper. Ivan Perišić struggled to find his rhythm on the day and looked winded, but managed a nice header which banged off the crossbar. Lovren rectified his early blunder with a goal himself in the 68′ with a header from a sideline cross. In all, Croatia got the job done and will face Israel at Maksimir Tuesday night.
CURRENT STANDINGS W/ 3 GAMES LEFT
With a win vs. Israel, Croatia guarantee themselves at least a playoff berth in November. However, Croatia still control their own destiny in automatically qualifying for the Euro 2012 tournament. Greece squeaked out a 1-0 win over Israel on Saturday which most likely means Croatia will have to win all three of their remaining games, including the match in Athens.

"Also, I imagine part of being a good striker is being at the right place at the right time (i.e. anticipation) to position one self for "sitters"."
Olic puts himself in those positions because of his work rate and speed.
@Wallace
"We'll see."
Trust me, I hope I am wrong. I want all our players to succeed. But alas, I am not wrong in this case.
Oh yea I just remembered, the shock cavalry charge from the extreme right wing when it looked as tho the battle would end in a stalemate; the Scottish colour commentator on FSC called not just once (BEFORE HALFTIME), not twice, but three times for Olic to be subbed out of that game; I mean St. Peter, how many freakin times can you deny you that you know Christ! ahahahaha.
"Kalinic is not now and he will never be close to the player Olic is!"
We'll see.
And it's not Olic hasnt done anything for the cro-nation-team; he scored the leveling goal against Italy in that famous WC win; he scored the 2nd goal in the famous defeat of England at Wembly in 07'. Yes he missed that one chance against the Ottomans by a couple inches – it happens to all strikers.
The goals Olic scored for Bayern in their great CL run to the finals were HUGE. He scored the only goal against that Israeli team that kept Bayern in the Tourny, the goal against Juventus in Italy (when Bayern were still 50-1 to win the CL cuz they had to win that game outright to qualify for the knockout stage/final 16), obviously the two goals against ManU were immense.
Also, I imagine part of being a good striker is being at the right place at the right time (i.e. anticipation) to position one self for "sitters".
@Wallace
"You Olic haters are out of your minds:"
Awesome video!!!!
It's funny, if it was Olic that missed those sitters against Malta this forum would have had to have been shut down as the servers would not have been able to deal with the traffic of people complaining about him so much. I got news for ya, Kalinic is not now and he will never be close to the player Olic is!
Personally I just don't understand the hate and the disrespect this guy receives. I know it has been discussed a million times and it is boring but I still don't get it. His heart and his determination is unmeasureable and he never complains and he never quits. You cannot ask for anything more than that from anyone!
You Olic haters are out of your minds:

Does anybody knows if Modric and Krancjar will be back against Israel? With them on the field, I'm pretty sure we'll beat Israel.
Israel have a 2% chance of qualifying. I think they will still give it a 100% against us and they are going for all 3 points regardless and we are at home. It will be an open game and I have faith we can pull 3 points off here. I respect Israels game they are a good side but we should be able to handle them. Everytime we have played them it has been a fight to get all 3 though.
Once we finish this game and get 3 than I will worry about Greece because if we don't get 3 here Greece will not be fun.
1st in the group will be nice but 2nd we still have a good chance of making Euros. I dont really care how we do it pretty/ugly as long as we are there in 2012. I like our chances but there is still plenty of time to go and crazy things do happen. Our only home loss in a qualifier came vs England and I don't want to see that again. There are plenty of strong 2nd place teams that we could be put up against if we take that route and I would love to avoid it.
I think the odds will be in Greeces favor when it comes to playing them and keeping a tie but you never know. The youth is getting a shot so I want to see them succeed when given a shot. Badjel showed he has talent(i know Malta) but its his ability on the ball and making the right choices at almost all the time that game. Vrsalkjo didn't look bad either but it would be interesting to see him play at RM too because he has all the ability to be good there if his defense isn't developing in the future.
As for the fans that booed at Malta game they should just never go to games anymore. Sure we conceded and its same stupid mistakes but booing your team when we are up isn't going to help us with anything. They got the 3 points and look at Azerbaijan get a tie with Belgium or Italy beat Faroe Islands 1-0…it happens! We could have played better but we could have done worse.
My prediction (I hope I'm wrong)
Croatia 1 Israel 1
Croatia 0 Greece 0
We don't have the needed goalscorers to get the job done. I don't think Israel is going to lay down like a dog just because they lost at home to Greece. They're going to come out strong.
No Canadian teams placed in the top 3 in Hamilton this weekend. Milwaukee third, and two teams from Chicago in the final.

Interesting Sammir/NT forum.
@Anonymous
About if there is a chance of greece dropping points to either georgia or latvia, normally i would say yes, but i cant see that happening this time around. They just seem to squeeze out the results when needed. This is normally a sign of a good team, to win even when it looks like they wont. Take a look at the time they played malta, with greece a man down, it looked certain to end in a goal less draw, then suddenlly in injury time, they manage to drill one in at the death. They may not be a team of champions, like holland, spain, germany or brazil, but they a well structured and organized unit who keep their cool when the chips are down. I have been highly impressed with how the greeks go about their buisness and how well they have coped with losing their mae'stro otto. They may not play pretty or win great, and even struggle against lesser teams, but they do get the job done, you cant argue with that.
So back to you original question on if theres a chance of the greeks dropping points? Dont count on it. It is much more likey that croatia will drop points before they do.
I honestly don't see Greece losing any of their two away games, their best bet to drop points was in Israel yet they won there. They might drop points in Georgia, depending how seriously they take it, but then again we were the only team who seemed to have problems with them, even Latvia went to Tbilisi and won
@ bobby v
you are correct about the draw. our strong fifa ranking will help us out with the playoff draw. however, as jersey cro so eloquently phrased it….F*** It! let's take em all out, qualify automatically and watch the greeks flame out in the playoffs.
p.s. anyone feel that there is a chance the greeks could drop points by drawing with either georgia or latvia? they are both road games and the greeks don't exactly score a lot of goals. if the greeks draw one of those games, then we could still win the group without having to win in greece!
@Black Zodiac
"Kranjcar would be deadly on the forward left wing"
Precisely. That's where I put him in my fantasy formation against Malta, with Perisic on the other side and Modric just behind. Great minds think alike.
@Dinamoblogger
"Also, someone on a Tottenham forum suggested that Redknapp tries Kranjcar as a striker."
Kranjcar would be deadly on the forward left wing.
Good job on the three point, that's all that matters.
I'm pretty sure that the top four ranked on the FIFA list go into one pot, and the other 4 go into the other – then, there's a draw.
Jersey
in 2010 worldcup qualification we knew the runner up of group A would face runner of of group F
hypothetically if we'r not the best runner up does anyone know what group we'd have to face?
Yeah, Kalinic and Manzukic were so open that they were shocked and fucked up the goal which i could have scored both times.
Capljina…the playoff draw is seeded. If we do make the playoffs, possible opponents will probably be something like Czech Republic, Bosnia, Denmark maybe even Turkey. Still 2-3 games to go in most groups and many groups are still open
One runner-up qualifies automatically, Croatia will need 7 points to have a chance at that
But "F" it…go for 9
Also, someone on a Tottenham forum suggested that Redknapp tries Kranjcar as a striker.
Croatia U17 2-0 Slovenia U17
@Bobby V
"How the Hell can Bilic leave Mladen Petric off the squad?"
He also scored both goals in Hamburgs 2-2 friendly draw with Luzern today.
if we do go into a play off who would we face?
from which group?
correction…3-6 points = playoffs
anything below three we are out
9 points = Winning group
7 points = Most likely qualify automatically as best runner-up
1-6 points = Playoffs
0 points = 3rd place
pretty much a playoff spot is locked up, but I wouldn't trust Bilic in a two-leg playoff, he'd play for penalties lol
A win is a win i suppose, cant complain much about getting 3 points on the board. I just hope they bring a lot more intensity against israel come tuesday. Or otherwise they wont have a W behind their name.
I also hope bilic fixes the striker problems before that game, and makes the most logical choices,no more kalinic please, the guy cant hit the broad side of a barn. He may have saved us before with some crucial goals, but he will cost us one day with his inaccuracy. And mandzukic, WHY the hell is this guy on the team? can someone give me a honsest answer? I know we are a littte stretched for strikers, but jeez louise, you can get the same results from a lamp post.
How the hell can Bilic leave Mladen Petric off this squad? He's the only true striker we have at the moment. Like I said before, I can't believe his judgement of talent – and bring Pranjic back before it's too late. None of us care if you eat dinner together, just let him play.
Well today was interesting but fun. I'm sobered up a bit after partying it up with the founders of CSR. Quick thoughts from me… 1. Don't rate the game mainly because our mid is destroyed. Persic didn't really justify a starting spot against israel. He's promising but eh not good enough. Vuko scored, I needed to clean my glasses to see if it was real. I'm a HUGE fan of badelj, really talented in january he needs to go to a big club after dinamo gets knocked out. Still no modric kranjcar rakitic is rough, idc who we play. I'm loving badelj though, very hard nosed. 2. Lovern is shaky and its no way getting around it. He's too physical, not alert, and sloppy. I know he scored but so far not a good start in his international career. As for Corluka at CB, I'm not a fan but I can tolerate it. He saved a goal today with a last ditch tackle. Also love his hair, biggest badass on Croatia. 3. Strikers today were pretty brutal. Klasnic couldn't get going, maybe bring him off the bench but he missed a good chance. Manzo has some really nice moves. His pace is almost as good as Eduardo. He is pretty talented but he shoots like an idiot. From straight blasts to stupid chips, learn to bend Manzo and you will succeed. Kalinic well what did I tell you people. He excels in NOTHING, wastes simple chances and is bad. He's so bad, I want petric or olic back over him. That's right I said Olic. Jelavic Eduardo for Israel will be fun to see. It should create fireworks. 4. As for the young guns, other than Badelj no one stood out like you all said. Sime looked good at time but a bit too young. Strinic just doesn't cut it, good backup but he's not starting material. Just doesn't bring much to the table. 5. Well you will hear more from me in videos but there is the recap. Tuesday I'm feeling an exploison but I been saying that since Feburary. Modric show should be back with Eduardo and Jelavic. Not very good today but I'm not rating it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tVnWBR0etE
I didnt watch the game today but I heard that Klasnic got subed at half time for kalinic all i need to say is why.. probably should of given Klasnic a little more time mabye around the 50-60th minute
http://eurorivals.net/video/malta-v-croatia-1-3-all-goals-full-highlights-02-09-2011/208759
We will finish at least second, but do you trust this team in a playoff against potentially Turkey, Serbia, Denmark?
The Malta #9 would walk into our NT the way he played today, guy has decent pace. At one point Malta was playing one touch football and we were bunkering… AHHH!
i dont have a good feeling about israel…i watched the first half of the Israel Greece game, the Israeli left side looked quite promising…I fear the worst
I think we will just qualify for the euros, make the quater finals again and not make 2014 world cup,
Croatian Football will be in a state of disarray once more.
I <3 Vukojevic.
This is one of the rare times a defender has scored. But our mids and forwards usually switch off.
Is this one of the rare times where non-striker Vatreni have scored all the goals?
Klasnic played a role in the 2nd goal. He deserves more time.
@Vlad
I understand your frustration with Vukojevic, but he did score today. Kalinic looked a bit lost when the camera panned to his face. Missed one for sure goal, and 1 very good chance. The reason Klasnic doesn't get more time is b/c he doesn't have the fitness. So it would be a bad idea to keep him in if he's tired.
Mandzu started getting weird toward the end of the game, and he tried to get too fancy with the ball. A bit to do with the midfield not supporting him, but some of those passes were just ridiculous. Somebody should also let him know that the Vanilla Ice hair sytle is out.
If we were playing a better team, I don't see us winning that game. There was quite a few times where where our defense nearly put me into the grave with the giveaways at our end of the field.
Srna= Good veteran leadership, but, the ranks should be changing. I don't care how many of you guys argue with me on this. He can't convert off set pieces like he used to (automatic), his crossing has been more than substandard in the past handful of matches, and his defense suckssssss.
The thing that scares me the most, is when the other teams attacks on their left side. You see Srna coming flying in to completely miss the ball, while Corluka does his awkward back peddle. Makes your guza tighten up a bit everytime.
I agree at the end of the day 3 points is what we needed. Few things though. Badelj should play against israel bottom line vukojevic SUCKS! I get he's a defensive player but he dosent help out, whenever thers opposing team chances he's no where to be seen so he literally does nothing. Dosent create chances dosent stop any chances.
Another thing when did kalinic become a regular, man he sucks, they guy has never done anything over the last three years at club level, half his goals in hajduk were penalty shots and know his playing non stop.
I think he should have gave klasnic a little more time! Same thing with mandzo he's playing strikers that never score, kalinic never scores at his club and mandzo since he's been with wolfsburg has a poor scoring record, i wouldnt have both players on the field at the same time!
and corluka never again play CB simunic or vida dosent look good playing in the middle of the defense! All in all a win is a win!
Once again the Dinamo youth school has to save Croatia 😉
Anyway, back to reality, not a great game and because we played a limited team we won. In fact at times Malta was playing one touch passing. They need to improve big time against Israel and Greece yet alone Germany/Spain
Three points at the end of the day is the most important thing, but the performance was slow and uninspiring
Kalinic and Mandzukic are more winger types, not strikers. Neither played well. Badelj was the best player on the pitch.
Watching Belarus-Bosnia right now and will finish with Northern Ireland – Serbia.

Could have been better…could have been worse…
Not much to really say about this one. Badelj looked great throughout the game but rest of the team was average at best thought. I don't feel like saying the same things I say for the last year. We have the same problems as we did the last game and the game before..ect. To many holes in this team still and players had a chance to prove something today but only Milan did that today.
I'll take the win, but MY GOD, the midfield the second half was doodoo. And even just now, Kalinic should have had a goal, but so many easy misses.
Maybe they aren't taking it seriously, I don't know, but it makes me nervous.
Kalinic with a breakaway in the 92nd minute and hits the side of the net.
Boy, do I miss the days of Suker, Boksic, Prso and the 1.0 version of Eduardo 🙁
For the record, Kalinic is not very good. Thank you for the Georgia goal though.
well…that was a boaring game..
There's no excuse for Mandzukic to be score on that shot from 10 yards out in the 83rd minute….in fact he misses by a mile.
NO ONE HAS LINKS HUH? WELL THANK YOU
@Andrej – If we win the rest of our matches, we'd win the group 🙂
Why doesn't everyone just sign up for SaanTV? It's pretty cheap and we all have relatives back home.
anyone have good links?
In good news sweden is losing currently 1-0 and they are the best 2nd place team so if we can overtake that and even finish 2nd in the group we automatically avoid the playoff round. I dont think that we can be the best placed 2nd team without winning rest of our matches…so that would make us 1st in our group but you never know.
Nice one pletikosa….would have been a second goal…
http://www.oleoletv.com/watch/live/stream/online/free/tv/video/channel/feed/link/broadcast/vivo/gratis/p2p/20/september/2/2011/6/malta-vs-croatia.html
Another link if anyone is having trouble
It may be 3-1, but despite not being a great team, Malta shouldn't be dominating possession in the 2nd half as they are.
Outside of Badjel nobody impressed me that much today. Vrsaljko had a few good runs and moves great but could have done better a couple occassions.
Thank god Lovern…
Bravo Lovren.
How the fuck did Kalinic not score?! He had all day to place that ball!
Sub in Eduardo.
malta looks more dangerous in their counter attack…it seems to be 50 50 game
How did Kalinic miss that ?!?!?!?!
Thank you Bobby V for the link. ATDHENET didn't have the game on their list and the other link provided by CSR was a bunch of download bullshit – which didn't work anyway. It looks like the Maltese groundskeepers provided a good pitch, pray to St. John for a secure victory here, haha.
Our goalkeeping percentage must be the worst in europe!!!! Everytime 1 shot…one goal….makes me sick!!!
Corluka has never been a CB. He does not look good in it and he is slow next to Lovren. It seems each game since Qatar we have leaked goals when he has played at CB. I am worried because you can just see he isn't natural there! I just don't see what footage Bilic sees but this isn't working and he has been given chances for over a year now to take that spot and he cant!
Agreed, Lovren and Corluka are too slow to play together in the middle.
Surely missing Modric, Rakitic and Kranjcar in midfield to possess the ball more.
Win or not…I can't be satisfied leaking stupid goals like this anymore. I don't care if we win 4-1 its just unprofessional to consistently leak vs the worst teams in the world.
It is the midfields fault to an extent but the CBs blew it too. We have obviously played better and created more chances but the leaked goal is inexcusable.
I will never understand what Bilic sees in Corluka at CB…never! I love Corluka and he is one of my favorites on the team but if he can play CB for the team so can I. He is that bad…Simunic on one leg is better…
All sorts of blame on that goal from the midfielders not closing in on the Malta player before he made his pass to the swiss hole defense made by Lovren and Corluka.
I still expect to win this thing 4-1 or so.
WTF?
That is embarrassing goal to give up…
oh geez
That was a stupid thing Strinic just did.
And here comes Malta with a goal 🙁
A million thanks to fellow Croats like Bobby V and Mark!
I couldn't figure out why there was no sound at first, but have just figured it out 🙂
I wish we could score this easily against the other teams in the group.
Bravo Badjel…

this one isnt working anymore
Badjel is looking great but he has a lot of time on the ball. When he has the ball though he has done the right thing constantly and I am very impressed.
Malta should not be getting chances like that……
Vuko scored?! That's great. Here I was trash talking him saying Dujmovic is much better.
HAHAHAAH VUKOJEVICU LJUBIM TVOJE IME, HRVATSKA SE PONOSI NJIME! HAHAHA
We are giving the ball up cheaply sometimes but we are moving better and attacking. Badjel doing pretty well to start and distribute the ball to both sides. Vuko still looks questionable at his job and that is defending.
Scary moment right after with Lovren/Pleti.
It's working here.
http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/81568/1/watch-malta-vs-croatia.html
Vukojevic makes it 1-0 in the 10'
Vuko you son of a gun. Finally you do something offensively after you give the ball away so cheaply. Pressure is off now but I want to dominate goal difference.
myp2p2 link is down says it's offling anyone know any free links
adhtne does not have any links
Misko,
If you download Google Chrome web browser, you can have it automatically translate websites into English. It's a big help.

Ya, and if you dont get signed up in time I can find you another link just let me know. From the time you pay for it to the time you sign up till it keeps everything archived so you can go back and watch whatever is on those channels its actually really nice.
Anon,
Greece is playing better than us currently. Maybe not by a mile but don't get overly cocky for no reason. If you have watched last qualifications and this qualifications you will have noticed that our performances have not been the most inspiring in the world. We are not Spain but we are not Malta either and overall we can hardly brag about playing attacking flowing football when we create as little as greece. I am all for giving us credit when its due! But its been a while since I can say we have put in a convincing win vs any team! I am not saying Greece is great I am saying dont make us sound like world beaters…because we have not been any better than them in recent years.
You're awesome brother.
Are they showing the Malta game?

Who have they beaten that is better than us? You say that I don't watch, well than please let me know. Greece was very very lucky to get the last win in Malta. Greece is not a good team by any stretch of the imagination. It does not matter how you explain it. Period!
Mandza, Klasnic, Perisic, Badelj, Vrsaljko…
All have a great chance to prove they are 1st team worthy.
Andrej,
I can speak Croatia but I can't read it that well so signing up at the site you linked is almost impossible for me. Do they have an English version?

Now some of you may understand why its impossible to compete with the big guns. We have an excess of playmakers but no Modric, Rakitic, or Kranjcar to start? That is really rough.
I will say though this is the games where the players who get a chance better damn well prove there worth. I wonder what this team is going to look like today in terms of starting lineup and formation.
Modric is starting on the bench.

There is a reason they are on top of our group. Maybe a weak group…yes but they have won a major competition in the last decade as well…we have not."
They are a joke of a team. I have absolutely no fear in playing them whatsoever. They have no threat of scoring against a good opposition. The manner in which they won the Euro 2004 Championship was a disgrace once again nothing short of a miracle. If we won a tournament that way I would not even acknowledge it and I assure you I would not be proud of it. We will take care of them in October. We just need to get by Malta and Israel first. We just need to figure out how to get past their bunker, and we will in October!
Thanks for the links guys! 😀
Go Vatreni!
Israel losing is the best result for us because now the Israelis must play for a win on Tuesday. Sitting back will do them no good. have to come out and want to play and instead of sitting back.

"You must be a newbie but Greece have been working there trade of a long time now. Nobody destroys them and and they are the best at what they do…in the world. You don't have to like it it because nobody does but they execute it better than any team. Boring or not…getting 3 in Greece will be hell of a time but that being said I am not even worried about Greece because Israel has always been a close match everytime we have played them and we have dropped points to Malta before too…so i am worried about these games before that."
LOL! They are a disgrace to the game. You can sugarcoat it as much as you wish. If we score the first goal against them in October the game is over! How can you even defend how they play?!?!?! LOL ! If our team played like that I would not watch any of the games! Not a chance!

Andrej,
Precisely my concern. Croatia has trouble with teams that mimic Greece, let alone Greece themselves.
Anon,
You must be a newbie but Greece have been working there trade of a long time now. Nobody destroys them and and they are the best at what they do…in the world. You don't have to like it it because nobody does but they execute it better than any team. Boring or not…getting 3 in Greece will be hell of a time but that being said I am not even worried about Greece because Israel has always been a close match everytime we have played them and we have dropped points to Malta before too…so i am worried about these games before that.
TGC,
I hope to see this but I can't imagine it in my head. Eduardo out of the 3(Klasnic, Jelavic, Eduardo) is the only out of box striker. He works on wings and drops back to pick balls up but the other two really are ineffective out of the box especially Klasnic. I like Klasnic and he is one of my favorites but I don't see him as a starter anyway. We constantly play way to many strikers and bipass the midfield and usually get stuck playing possession in our own defense. Mandzukic isn't a RM so Srna gets stuck being only attacker from RB and is the only attack we have on the right as you saw vs Georgia there was never anything down that side.
Im not sweating this…if we can't beat Malta or have "one of those days" Bilic should resign ASAP. But I feel confident enough in getting 3 today. I am not counting our points but this is a match where if we don't pull 3 off and the string of matches that we have put together has been questionable than…Bilic should really think hard on his future.
@Rob
"I hope you are right re: Greece!!!"
Baring injuries Rob, we will take it to them in October! Once again, let's get past Malta and Israel first! 🙂
By the way, Greece annoys me like no other team. What a pathetic way to play football! Their luck will run out in October as long as we take care of Malta and Israel first. You heard it here first !
Forgot to add that I'm 50 years old – that was in the 1960's in Chicago!
To get around firewalls at work I use this website:
http://www.freefootball.eu/upcoming.php
Have to wait about 60-90 minutes before kickoff.
We have come a long way from watching the games for 20 bucks on closed circuit television – and then only be able to see about 20 minutes of it before the signal went out.
Then the arguing would start and an old Greek guy would start climbing the ladder with a hammer and his ass sticking out yelling "I fix it" and the rest of us yelling "no, no, no!" 🙂
@ Anon,
I hope so. We are famous of not breaking through when they other team only needs a tie and plays bunker (Russia x2, Greece, etc.).
Israel will definitely be playing for their lives now on Tuesday, the boys better be prepared!
I hope you are right re: Greece!!!
The difference to date?!?
Croatia blows a late draw vs Georgia,
Greece steals a late draw vs Georgia and win vs Malta.
If anyone of those THREE results go Croatia's way, they are in first.
@Rob
"One thing I can tell you for sure is if Greece does not drop any points in this game vs Israel (and with minutes left, it looks unlikely they will), then Croatia will definitely be playing for second in the group. They will not be getting a win in Greece if all Greece needs to do is bunker and get a draw at home."
We are going to tear the Greeks apart when we see them in October! Let's just get through Malta and Israel first. 🙂

Vlad, he had a fever last night…
this morning his fever is gone.
So he's not necessarily "out for the game" yet.
Modric is out for the game today because of a high fever could this be the begeining of a bad day!
myp2p is down
and for now it doesn't look like ATDHENET is linking the game.
If anyone has any feed of the game, please post the link somewhere here.
Thanks guys
Gentlemen,
Any help with live links that might not be blocked at work would be greatly appreciated.
Atdhe and myp2p.eu are blocked. ESPN3 is not carrying it online.
Any help is appreciated.
Hvala.
I see your predicament, even though I'm not sure you need either Klasnic or Jelavic to necessarily play wide. I would say give me some time to prove you wrong, but the game is tomorrow. Anyhow…I'm still gonna try over the weekend to show how that would work.
Against weaker teams like Malta, we need to put the pressure on immediately. We usually do much better when scoring first. (less pressure, better overall play). I can see where coming out all guns blazing may leave us weak against a counter. But if we're scared about a counter attack hurting us against someone like Malta, then I feel bad for our team.
The lineup will be a 442.
Plenti, Vrsaljko, Corluka(prefer Simunic), Lovren, Strnic,
Srna, Modric, Badjel, Perisic
Klasnic, Mandzukic(prefer Eduardo or Jelavic but we need a target man)
I dont see how we can play 3 up top consisting of Dudu, Jelavic, and Klasnic. Eduardo is the only decent wide player! Klasnic is a strict box striker and Jelavic is a target man himself while he may work hard I dont see those 3 possible up top not in any formation unless you are playing dudu behind 2 strikers and i would still be confused as to why. Just my opinion though….
Will Kranjbus be ok for the Israel game?
I wish Modric did more scoring out of practice. =)
The two sides were seperated by age (Stari vs. Mladi) with the old guys winning 2-0 with goals from Klasnic and Modric.
First squad seems good to me, except Schildenfeld & Dujmovic.
I'd take Vida, Lovren, or Vrsaljko over Schild. Dujmovic came in the last game and looked terribly sloppy. I know he was only in for a small amount of time, but I think he's out. In his place…I have no clue…seeing as how the formation isn't up there.
Eduardo, Klasnic, and Jelavic up top should be interesting. Both Klasnic and Eduardo are great on the ball, and great with setting others up, which should help out Jelavic immensely. Let's just hope he can gain some more confidence and finish, instead of tripping over himself.
I can't really see us losing. 2-0 again.
