After a second loss to Scotland in World Cup qualifying, Croatia have dropped 8 spots to #18 in the FIFA World rankings. This still assures the Vatreni a seeded draw on Monday, October 21st in the UEFA playoffs, however, there is work to be done if Croatia want to keep their Pot 1 status for future tournaments to come. Seeded teams for Monday’s draw will include Portugal, Greece, Croatia and Ukraine while France, Sweden, Romania and Iceland look on from the other side.
Let’s see how kind the lottery gods are to Croatia in the playoff draw as it really comes down to a 50-50 draw the way they have been playing. Romania or Iceland would be a gift while France or Sweden would really test Croatia.
the way were playing any team will be a challenge
@Iggy
I thought you said those teams (France & Sweden) are in no way better than us a couple months back.
You seem to have done a complete 180 from you’re last expert opinion.
You tried to portray me as some wacko troll when I gave my logical assessment of where Croatia was really at.
Now the cold hard truth has finally smacked you square in face.
Apologies would be appreciated.
@tony
sweden beat us more easily than france??
Croatia-France

I think you have me confused with someone else bud. No idea what you are on about. Either way.
Boli me (I’ll let you finish it) …
Alot of you here wanted to tear me a new asshole when I said Croatia deserve to be ranked somewhere between 18-25 a couple of months ago. (I’m looking at Iggy, poglavnik,&majstore). You laughed when I said that the ivorians would be better placed above us.
I guess my assessment is more justified now with these new FIFA rankings aint they.
@armada and cico
The best wine in Croatia is kutjevacko vino, without a doubt. Anyone thats ever tasted it would agree.
@Ivica-Shame on you!its not about being funny.Its about educating my son to be better.Any good dad wants his son to grow up and have more success than his own.This is what I am ultimately after.
I am not just negative.I will be pointing out his many positives also.I think the site needs him,just a better man than the current brattish boy.I am firm,yet fair.
I am just doing a service for the Croatian diaspora,who I love dearly.I am just Ante anyguy.Could be Pavelic,Gotovina,even Iggys brother in law.Hell,I could even be Kvartuc.
If you wish to continue this conversation,do so on Twitter,which I am yet to fully embrace.
This is funny. Oh please. This is the ultimate jock sniffing.
Zivas dad is pretty funny, lol
We’re better than you. Thanks Igor Stimac.
FYI for anyone wondering …

The draw will be live on fifa.com at 8am (eastern standard time).
@Denis-Thank you for your concise input.We will never know exactly what happened(Even Ziva)but thank goodness he is gone,even if he struck a deal to get 10k a month for 8 months,its worth it,(but shouldn’t be the case!)Gots to go,busy day today.
So we are playing like govno, dropped to 18th of FIFA’s list, have a new coach, U17’s start tomorrow and the draw is on Monday – still, should have had our Tuesday night funnies anyway
Here’s one – I promise you will laugh

@Majstore,
I dont think anyone would really know what happened. Who canned Stimac.
The one thing that I do know is that:
A) Stimac never issued a letter of resignation. Stimac didn’t do whatever he said he was going to do. Stimac might have made a deal with Suker/Mamic to be fired so he can still collect a check.
B) Stimac was fired, which means he will get payed $10K per month for the next eight months when his contract is set to expire.
Stimac said he was going to “hand in his resignation” but the way Suker put it was they never received anything from Stimac and they “fired” him and paid out his contract!
Did suker want to keep him? There are conflicting news stories stating the opposite. Ie. Maminjo wanted to keep him and Suker said no dice.
See article above. ^^^^^
@My boy,watch your mouth boy.Actually everything besides tonight is mine,as I have owned you recently and am set to continue to own your ass.
-Admit your mistake,you were confident about it and if you were right you would have played your trumpet about it and say that only the Homers thought he would actually go.HE IS GONE.I have to get to work,take it up on Twitter if you wish ,though I am yet to fully embrace this. 🙂
@Stef T.O ,
Mexico would struggle against my team that played in the Croatian Small goals tournament in San Pedro two years ago.
@Jure,
I dont know what Sifo is doing club wise right now. At the same time, I thought he played well for Croatia.
Stimac will be back. Give him time. This is like a Mexican soap opera. Wait until next week to see what happens.
@Bjorn Borg,
“What would have happened if they had the same amount of points? Rock, paper, scissors to determine who was seeded?”
interesting question.
dude, you need to read better. i said it was a balkan ploy commonly used and COULD happen……guess what, it came close. Suker wanted to keep him.
what is killing me?????? I see you need attention, so the rest of the night is all yours.
@Sinko Ziva-Now you are trying to get into tiny insignificant detail which is hardly relevant.Stimac is gone and he went quickly.The old Yugo/Balkan ploy you talked about didn’t pan out.You were wrong son.Admit it and grow.
As for wishing me luck in being funny,I don’t need it.I am friggin hilarious.If you want to talk in more detail,we shall continue on Twitter,I am yet to full embrace it though…..(its killing you isn’t it,but you will mature slowly)
ummm, actually Suker didn’t accept his resignation. Mamic is the one who decided it was time for him to go. Suker wanted to keep him.
Listen, I know you are trying to be funny. And I wish you luck at it.
Ok,Zivas lessons in trying to become a man begin.
Son,as your newly adopted dad,I am sorry that I gave you a bit of a bloddy nose last week on at least 2 occasions when I showed you up for being wrong a morally misguided.It hurt me more than you!
Lesson1-Admit it when you are wrong as loudly as you proclaim that you called something right.Just the other day you said Stimacs offer to resign was a old Yugo/Balkan ploy that would not pan out and Puppet suker was not likely to accept it.Well,that was wrong son.It all happened pretty quick.Its ok.
-Lesson2-Your comment yesterday”Theres a new King of Balkan soccer and its BiH!” Based on what???My young immature boy,if this is based on making their first ever World Cup after 1 good qualifying,this hardly makes them a King.You know it,you are just trying to be a dick loudmouth 14 yr old boy in saying this.You have defended yourself in the past by saying”I just state the facts”so you think this is a fact???really??You have a long way to go my boy.More to come…….
@ Cico
Dude, if you’re the one in charge of sowwing the pitch at Poljud, shame on you bro – that pitch looks like the local stoka feed on it every morning.
I only post the old Hajduk grb when some of your fellow ‘Hajduk brothers’ on here get out of line, so you’re good for now Cico 😉

Good article
@ Ziva i also meant will he witch hunt suker and mamic?
@jure……you won’t hear much from Stimac until after the playoff round. He’ll probably do an interview or two now, but not much else. If I were advising him, I’d tell him to remain silent. The public hates him. There is nothing he can sya that will win over any people.
Personally, I’d love to hear from him and hear what excuses he has to offer.
The best part will be if we fail to qualify. At that point the players will come out and give their side of the story. Those are always interesting reads. Like when Bilic left after the Euros, Simunic came out against him.
How many here think Stimac will go quietly into the night?
@ Cico
Don’t waste your time with that Dalmatian battery acid. It’s all about the teran and malvazija from Istra 😉
also – I read on SN Niko Kovac named you a Technical Advisor for the NT! Svaka cast ćo! Bog, Hrvati, Cico i HNS!!!!!!!!!!
@ Any Good Person . Can U tell me How can i order some of that New Zlatan Hajduk Wine ? I have been looking everywhere , but no Luck ! Thank U ! Also Don’t Worry U Guys , Our HNS will be just Fine with Niko ! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
The difference between France and Ukriane being seeded for the draw on Monday was one point based on the FIFA rankings.
What would have happened if they had the same amount of points? Rock, paper, scissors to determine who was seeded?
Piss, the French would have just quit anyway, they’re cowards.
Niko Kovač: ”Uoči dodatnih kvalifikacija za SP ujediniti se mora ne samo momčad, već i cijela nacija.”
kovac quote from earlier today
@majstore…..Suker should be in jail as well.
France and Portugal are top-10 teams (probably rate them as 9th and 10th in the world).
We fall in the 10-15 range (probably closer to 15). Sweden is in that area as well.
@Stef T.O
Mexico? Mexico will be hard pressed to qualify for the WC in the 2 game playoff vs. New Zealand. Have you watched them lately?
In a word, awful. That 24 ranking is actually VERY generous….
Interesting read

Could it be suker and the government cronies that boot out Mamic once and for all?
Don’t belong in front of France, Mexico or Sweden
@Denis … line of the week… “can’t score with their own wives” 🙂
I hope for Romania as well. I have several Romanian friends and it would make the matches all the more important/special to me!
I like us at #18 actually. Thats where we belong. Now we have to work.
I still think the Greeks are the weakest team in Pot A. The Greeks can’t score with their own wives. Croatia has more talent and will be motivated and running on all cylinders for the playoff(heart talking obviously.)
France will qualify over any of the teams in pot A.
I hope we get Romania.
Finally an accurate number
Long overdue that we dropped out of the top 10. We haven’t played like a top 10 side in some time now. Now Mamic, Suker & Co. can’t use it as a crutch of any type…
Do not underestimate Iceland. The have come along way in the last 8-10 years. They have some good youth teams and the kids have come up through their ranks. They will give whomever they play a good run.
All the teams in pot 2 will pose different problems for us. Right now they are all saying to themselves “Based on recent form, I hope we draw Croatia”.
Just have to sit back and see what happens come Monday.
In more positive news, our Under 19s smash the mighty, Gibraltar 7-0 today in the opening match of Group 1.
