Croatia Punch Ticket To Quarterfinals!

The Croatian Barracudas defeated Greece 10-9 in the final group stage match of the 2025 World Aquatic Championships in Singapore Tuesday night.

Croatia will now play the winner of Romania/Hungary in the quarters July 20th after a perfect 3-0 group stage. Croatia is coming off a 2024 Olympic silver medal after losing to Serbia in the Gold Medal match. Let’s see what happens the rest of the tournament.

    Vuskovic starting from bench

    Great news is new Japanese CB Kota isn’t even on the bench !

    If Anonymous was to guess – the 2nd half defensive line-up will be

    RB Spence
    RCB Vuskovic
    LCB Davies
    LB Mickey VDV

    I think Frank will want Davies next to Vuskovic to guide/speak to him (as Davies did last season when Archie Gray had to play CB) – otherwise flip Mickey VDV into LCB and Ben Davies goes LB

    There is also 20yo CB Ashley Philipps on the bench (he was on loan at Stoke last season) – hopefully he doesn’t get the nod ahead of Luka….

    One CB has already left though – Alfie Dorrington – returns to Aberdeen on loan for the season (writing was on the wall as he was only with U21s in the pre-season) – just announced today – so that’s one out of the way, only 8 more to go…

    Got it buddy. I just hope Vuskovic makes the cut for Tottenham’s CL squad as I understand there are limitations on the number of non-homegrown players that can be registered. Also hoping he will get some minutes in the Reading friendly later. Oh btw, some time ago, you asked us whether it’s better for Sutalo to stay with Ajax and transfer to a better club. I have a definite opinion on this one now since he’s picked up an ankle injury recently – Josip should get well asap and continue playing for Ajax this season!

  • Croatia is not gonna have it easy it seems. Hungary is historically the best Water Polo Team traditionally, more than likely Hungary is making it through to the quarters with us. Plus Serbia is not an easy team to defeat. It will be tough but hopefully Croatian can win it this time around.

    • Hungary and Serbia haven’t been as good as us in recent years.

      Serbia were a complete surprise at the Olympics when they beat us out for Gold.

      We are still the favorites.

    • I have watched all three of our matches and yes, we have won all 3 but there needs to be an improvement if we are to go all the way.

      Hungary is a very good team, and I watched them narrowly lose to a strong Spain.

      According to the media and for those interested the match against Hungary, they will easily beat Romania is on Sunday at 14:45 with LIVE coverage on HRT2.

      • HRV is also missing one if its best players with Kragic out. Hungary against Romania is a light training session. The Hungary match will be a toss up.
