Starting XI vs. Wales: Pletikosa, Strinić, Šimunić, Lovren, Srna, Perišić, Modric, Badelj, Rakitić, Mandžukić, Eduardo in a 4-4-2 formation
It was a packed house at Gradski Vrt in Osijek Tuesday night for Croatia’s World Cup qualifier versus Wales; and the Vatreni did not disappoint. Although Croatia only won by a 2-0 scoreline, they dominated the game from start to finish. Croatia managed 67% ball possession, 10 corner kicks and 19 shots on goal against the Welsh on a slow, muddy pitch. Milan Badelj fired a cracker of a shot in the first half and Darijo Srna nearly squeezed in a free kick near post. But it was ultimately a Welsh blunder on defense which lead to Croatia’s first goal in the 27′. A back pass to the goalkeeper was slowed down by the horrible pitch conditions as Mario Mandžukić chased down the pass. The ensuing clearance attempt hit off the Bayern Munich striker and he easily tapped in for the lead.
Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale gave Croatia a scare on two occasions, dribbling the ball coast to coast through the entire Croatian defense, drawing a yellow card from Dejan Lovren in the first half and firing a shot at Stipe Pletikosa in the second. But Croatia kept plugging away and finally got an insurance goal in the 57′ when Srna’s corner kick was headed down towards goal by Ivan Perišić. The ball was parried away by the Welsh keeper but it went straight to Eduardo in front of the goal, who tapped in for the 2-0 lead.
All in all, it was a success on the day. Croatian fans have to be happy as the Vatreni grabbed three points without suffering any suspensions for the Serbia match on March 22nd. Croatia are now in a two-horse race to win the group with Belgium, who defeated Scotland 2-0 on the night with two late goals in the second half. Serbia lost to Macedonia in Skopje 1-0 as Ibraimi converted a penalty kick after Tomović was sent off in the 58′.

So anonymous is just a fag ? Ok I can’t hit girls mama taught me better .
@Barbic-Ignore cranky anonymous,cranky is just a stirrer,that was my mistake in not ignoring and respecting the site more.Besides,you should not hit a girl anyhow.She will continue to call you gay and try and make you mad by calling you a Serb,ignore it.I promise not to add anything further!!
i rarely check in. osijek is replacing split as the host city against scotland next year for qualifiers. i told you all that slavonci will bring it ! we brought it ! bravo baja !

These anonymous ppl should get some balls and have a name
“have a tea” you must be gay, I feel sorry for you
Anonymous, don’t cry like a little girl. It will get better for you.
@cranky PMS anonymous-it seems that your anger is largely growing due to you mixing other anonymous comments with mine,the ones about the defence being tested or not tested etc are not mine,but you mixed some of my comments with others,see problem is we have too many “anonymous”writers at the moment,but you are the only cranky one with PMS and valve issues,so you are making a silly billy of yourself arent you.Swear away,say I am idiotic and insignificant,thats ok,I will sign off now for the good of the site,its getting too much now ,”brate”,have a tea and a good lie down,try some naprogesic also.
brate, just shut the fuck up and stop trying to always explain your insignificant and idiotic comments. also don’t worry about my valve, worry about yourself
Bilic has already displayed that he is not all about the dollars,sure ,no one expects him back in a hurry as he will likely be developing his coaching career and the big bucks for some time yet.The comment was” interesting to see if Bilic eventually returns”
@cranky anonymous-My comment was about not seeing enough of the game to comment about Simunics alleged errors,still not sure about that,my other comments have been more general,come on brate,you need to chill somewhat,you may end up bursting a poofle valve with the way you are going.Really gotta go.
“if Bilic returns” yeah ok, he makes a million over in Russian tax free and he will come back where they are going to pay him next to nothing
@anonymous, you don’t even know what sarcasm is
you tell us you did not see “enough of the game” but hey suddenly you know it all, come on brate, jesus you are an idiot,
like the other anonymous said, thank God you are not the coach
@Anonymous-my response was also sarcastic-you even bigger fool.
@Poglavnik-I will be glad if he becomes this great coach,just way to early,he could be a dud.We have not had too much in the way of great coaches,ok,Ciro missed a Euro after 98,just,But it was Bronze in 98.Interesting to see who steps up in coming years and if Bilic eventually returns.
@Anonymous
I know, typing “Stimac could potentially be one of our best coaches” was weird to do but who else is there? Baric, Kranjcar? Even Ciro couldnt get us into Euro 2000 after our 3rd place WC finish.
@Ivica, “the cro def was barely tested” really, do you play soccer? Do you think they sit around the goal line waiting for the play to come to them. Did you not see how the D stepped up and was part of the game? Did you not see how they controlled the field/play? Thank God you are not the coach.
@anonymous, secret is out, I am Simunic
@anonymous, it was sarcasm, consider it a rhetorical question, you fool
satire
@Anonymous-We should give ourselves a name to save confusion,I will think about it.No we should not phase out Pletikosa as it is well known that we are not good currently for phase in options!Yes,he is getting older too,this is a natural progression with teams that when you get a little older in the legs there is hopefully someone good/decent knocking on the door,problem for eg- Kelava as a keeper is that he cant find the door!
tipicni slavonac—— prodajem prasce —- bravo baja !
is anonymous actually simunic?
Pletikosa also made a few errors and is not getting younger. Should we phase him out. What about Srna? Made a few errors as well.
@Ivica-I wouldnt quite say your comments were idiotic,I didnt see enough of the game to comment about his possible error,but I agree its time to phase him out some more,but we do just somehow seem a little afraid maybe??to do this currently,we do have a few guys that should be getting more of a look in,some of whom have performed pretty weel when used recently.Joe is simply not getting any younger,I mean him no disrespect.
@Ivica, you could also say you are an idiot.
Simunic wasn’t THAT great in the Wales game.
He was embarrassed with that move that one Welsh player pulled on him by putting it straight through his legs and all Joe could do was haul the player down after he was made looking like a pylon. It lead to an on-target free kick just outside the box that Bale took. If that play took place a couple more feet toward the net, we’d be looking at an equalizing goal at the penalty spot.
The rest of the game, the Cro defense was barely tested, so it’s hard to evaluate. I could easily say that Lovren played better than Simunic that game since he stopped one of Bale’s runs and nobody put the ball through his legs…but this wasn’t a game to judge our defenders since we had like 90% possession, lol.
I still think we really need to phase out Simunic from our back four and try different things (ie. Vida at CB, Corluka at RB, more game time for Lovren, try a young player like Vrsaljko, etc) in our next couple of friendlies. We actually have some talent in defense (finally), but it seems like we’re afraid to test it out. I’m sure if we swapped out Joe with Lovren in our next 6 qualifying games, we would not see a dropoff in performance.
@Poglavnik-I am trying to be optimistic about Stimac and not completely think of him as a ass-clown,there are a few factors about him that definitely make me want to think of him as a ass-clown,but he has done some ok thgings in his short stint.I think its way,way too early to start calling him one of our best,we have played a few average teams and a quite good Belgium side,way too early.
I hate the idea of foreign coaches,but be careful with your comment of wanting anything local over a foreign coach,some will perceive it as racism and not with the times enough.
Simunic has proven his worth to the team and has been a part of the success. For some reason jm, laknat and others have nothing to say but bash the guy.
@Ziva
Not everyone here thinks Stimac is an ass-clown.
Other than that friendly against the Swiss, and the Sammir call-up (Mamic’s move) I think he’s been spot on so far.
Bilic, and now potentially Stimac have been our best managers!
I’d take anything local over a foreign coach.
You couldn’t play a national team game in ZD. That stadium is unsafe. I think the other locations you mentioned are OK.
@Armada , who would want to play in Rejka ?
Who ever bashes simunic is an idiot and doesnt know Nogomet he has won all duels 267 so when Joe is in Form he is solid as anyone.
when we play “small potatoes” teams like Wales, Scotland, Estonia, etc. and especially minnows like Faroe Islands, Malta, Liechtenstein, etc. we should implement a rotation of different cities – Rijeka, Osijek, Pula, Zadar, Varazdin, etc.
Making monkey noises . I think we should be above that . Very uneducateded . Other countries think we r trash . Sad .
The Simunic hate needs to stop. He has played well in every match in qualifying. I bet half of the people on this site that say he sucks wouldn’t be able to defend a quarter as good as simunic.
@ anonymous yeah we played whales we also played andorra and won in the last second it doesnt matter who we played if our guys can play like that more often no one would bitch about our team

For bigger matches against bigger teams, UEFA will only allow Cro to play in ZG and Split because of logisitical reasons.
No brainer to me, take it out of Zagreb and Split and keep it in the smaller cities with rabid support!
Get better field drainage though. 🙂
Gotta love DinamoDennis’ posts. Full of description and intellect.
I think all of us can agree and say Stimac is an ass clown. But, since he is the coach, we have to judge him on what he does as the coach.
So far, so good. He has 10 points in 12 matches. We’ve played one quality side in our four matches, so this is a very small sample to use in judging Stimac (the Swiss friendly does not count).
He has shown that he is willing to bench players and call them out if he has to. Personally, I think Bilic set him up nicely to take over the team. Three qualifying terms is enough for any national team coach and it was time for Bilic to leave. Now, is Stimac the right answer long term, who knows?
Now, the next steps for Stimac. Does he try to convince the savez to move some of the qualifiers to Osijek instead of ZG and Split. The crowd will be behind the team against the serbs no matter where we play, but home games against the Scots and Belgium may not get the crowd support.
Idiots…
@Allen Steven
I still think Stimiac is a bad choice so far as a manager and Croatia hasn’t exactly been that great. Believe what you want to believe, but its good not being a homer and being let down which Croatia always tend to do.
Notwithstanding Stimac’s nefarious background, ultimately the proff will be in the results. Does he get them to Brazil? How far do they go in that World Cup? If he is successful getting them there and then they do well at the tournament, we will know what kind of choice he was….
I don’t care if I’m the most negative because I have the right to. Croatia continutes to start a dead in the water centerback. Simunic brings NOTHING to the table and is just a mistake waiting to happen. He’s clumsy, not physical, and is prone to make silly tackles.
The same can be said for Olic but thankfully he hasn’t seen the field.Olic and Simunic should never play again unless the team is in dire need, which hasn’t happened. Schifo and Lovern should start if Charlie can’t play. People are so narrow minded on the site that I don’t even bother to argue but I’ll just give reasoning on why I can be negative.
Bale is an incredible talent and its unfortunate that he plays for a below average national team. My prediction was wrong, oh well sorry.
I still think Stimiac is a bad choice so far as a manager and Croatia hasn’t exactly been that great. Believe what you want to believe, but its good not being a homer and being let down which Croatia always tend to do.
@Ziva
Not really. The fans like to think we do, but get massively upset when results like yesterday happen (which were expected)
@ Kvartuc
Well I eat my words. Stimac started Eduardo. What I like about Stimac is that he benches players if they don’t perform. Jelavic was benched no doubt due to his missed header against the Macadamia Nuts. I still think Stimac should have subbed Eduardo out for Jela by the 60th minute. Yes Eduardo scored but he missed a few more.
Bale’s pace is electrifying. At one point in the first half Modric tried to catch him at full sprint and didn’t even come close, then Simunic looked like a lamp post, with Lovren finally stopping his run.
I think we’ll get 6 pts against Scotland, 4 against the Serbs, 3 more against Wales and who knows, maybe a draw will be enough against Belgium at home to win the group.
Yeah so, there are stupid women everywhere! LOL
Can you believe the story below? Now tell me that there is no Islamic Creep on Croatia.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/15/world/al-qaeda-cia-marriage-plot/index.html
I still think it will be very tough to win this group, Belgium look good and they already won in Belgrade. No matter how bad Serbia look now, it will be very tough to get three points there. I think that Belgium game in October will pretty much be a must win
but thats looking too far ahead…
Hvala Bogu.
HNS still lives !
Modric is BACK.
@Kvartuc , Modric plays always.
Badelj was great and he will grow at Hamburg. The play flowed from the back to front. His strike was impressive as well.
Mandzukic is a horse. Jelavic will come on for him the second half against Serbia to finish the job.
Eduardo is still good for a half. His movement is in tune with our flow. Hopefully he will get some run at Shaktar leading up to March.
Srna looked lively against Wales and will be up for Serbia.
If healthy, Simunic starts against Serbia out of respect to his service and recent form.
Pletikosa is solid and maid some nice saves. I believe we stick with him though 2014.
It was our midfield play that limited the ball time for Bale, and he still carved out 3 good chances.
We can control the middle against Serbia as well, IF we play with one striker upfront.
Mandzukic
Perisic-Eduardo-Rakitic
Modric
Badelj
Strinic-Simunic-Corluka-Srna

wait a minute????? Canadians play soccer???
Davor……Cro has already reduced itself to that. Monkey noises are not uncommon in Cro league matches. Hell, remember when Dinamo (NK Croatia) was in the Champions League back in 1999 and when they played Manchester United. Yorke and Cole were on the end of monkey noises in Maksimir. Hajduk fans have made monkey noises in the direction of both wanna be Brazilian born Hrvati.
@Anon…..pitiful display from the Canadians. funny thing is….when they drew 0-0 in Toronto in June (after dominating possession and chances), they essentially sealed their fate. guess jonathan de guzman and junior hoilett won’t be suiting up for canada!!
excellent win yesterday. didn’t see it all but liked what i saw. lots of possession and lots of chances…..the finishing will come. eduardo has barely played for club or country this season so that is simply a matter of rust i hope.
this group is quickly turning into a two horse race. those who predicted macedonia troubles for serbia and belgium were bang on…let’s just hope that they can do the same when they play belgium and help us out a bit. march is a long time away but we are looking good now….winter will be enjoyable for us….not so much for the serbs!! haha
@ante k……you boys in vegas will have the party of the year if we can put that “dagger” in the serbs heart during that game
overall, it was nice to see some depth being displayed, knowing that some younger players can come in and contribute to the cause. long way to go but we seem to be close to locking up a Top 2 spot in this group. a positive result in belgrade and we should be fine
What idiot recommends taking steroids? We can win on skill we dont need drugs. Who do you think we are !? Lance Armstrong !?
We must never reduce ourselves to this (see link). Monkey noises are disgusting. Leave that to uncivilized people.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2218656/Serbia-v-England-Under-21s-Mass-brawl-racist-abuse-ruins-night.html
@dannyj
steroids banned in football
Just reading the news from the serbia england u21 game this Probably wont happen… But the march Croatia v Serbia game should be played in an empty stadium in Belgrade.
are soccer players tested for steroids? i know all that cardio for sure not going to let them bulk much but for sure wouldn’t hurt to get a couple extra upper body pounds for pushing and controlling of space. mandzu comes in mind since thats the style he kind of plays
Great win for the boys !
We look a much better team when we pass along the ground, unlike the other games where we bombed long balls to jela and mandzu .. Eduardo gives us that time with possesion, add badelj to that and we played a bit like spain does, not saying we are in the same league as them but it was sexy football. Modric MOM witha special mention to Badelj, all he needs is maybee a few more kilos of muscle and to tackle like mascherano and hes perfect for that CDM. Hes got better passing skills than Mascherano thats for sure…
@Allen Stevens
What about your shitty prediction man!
“Dont be surprised, I can see bale putting 2 past us today, because old man simunic will be left in his wake.”
Your the most negative muthafucker on this site when it comes to the croatian national team.
But yet your the biggest brown noser when you mention english goons and one man teams like wales and tottenham.
Have some faith in the teams you supposedly support before the game, and not just come crawling back when they win.
someone mentioned badelj played good against inferior competition… how do we expect him to play against better quality?
from what i gather off the site he is playing well in germany for club
can he roll with the big boys? sure would be great if he can
ziva my 22inch monitor said good heart today
@barbic, dude we played Wales.
Corruption has FIFA written all over it. No bigger crooks in the sport than FIFA. If you want to point fingers at crooks maybe everyone should start pointing at the top of the food chain. Easy to bitch at Mamic Stimac & Suker but they are just minnows in an ocean full of sharks.
today was the best i have seen croatia play in a long time they controlled the pace of the game and contolled the match great the only thing that was a scare was bale of course because we all know our defense is slow as f&^% but all in all we looked great today!
There is a great chance of having three former Yugoslav republics in the World Cup this year – Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro.
Croatia has a chance to move to 8th in the FIFA World Ranking List ahead of Portugal (tie,loss) and Uruguay (loss-loss), and Greece (tie vs.Bosnia).
Eduardo – Jelavic is the best tandem we have. Eduardo knows where to be to score and is our best passing forward.
Hope Boksic figures it out and has them start together one time.
Stimac didn’t call the Osijek’s crowd bluff – he’s that crazy Ustasha uncle we all have, but, he’s not that dumb.
Modric – brilliant…still not sold on Lovren. This would have been a nice game for Kovacic to play in.
Mamic is a crook, but, if you oust him, the system is still in
place for the next person to do the same. Fix the system. If not, enjoy what this Mafia provides you. Just like growing up in Chicago – the hoodlums provided more protection in our neighborhood than the police did.
Yo who is that chick on the banner, is that the coach?! Jbt al je dobraaaaaa
A vote for Sammir is a vote for Obongo. 🙂
listen people, its a little to much with all this Sammir crap! I couldnt give 2 shits if he plays for Cro or not. If he does I will wish him and the rest of the team all the best NO MATTER WHAT!!!!
Any way Jelavic and Mandza and Eduardo the 3 strikers if its a combination 2 should start one off beach we are good imagine eduardo came in in skoplje instead of smotani kalinic same if he came in the belgium game eduardo has a nose of goal DUDU LEGENDA!
I dont see why Badelj cannot play him and modric true cms. Look at this Kovacic maybe even Halilovic will get call ups in march, the Prvi 11 was great today i like that lineup just put Carli in and Jelavic Kranjcar Vida off bench each for differnet resulkts pendining
@ Allen,
Minus Radosevic and Vida, Croatia played the lineup that I was calling for. Modric could have picked up a yellow card for a dive in the box today.
If Serbia took care of business today like they should have, then what do we do without Modric on March 22nd against them with the group wide open?
It was Wales after all today. You stop Bale and you’re good. The man took it 80 yards against us twice today. We didn’t need an A squad out there. And I think Badelj is solidifying his spot at CDM.
2-team race ladies and gentlemen. It might come down to the Belgium match in October for first place.
But a Croatian win vs. Serbia in Zagreb puts a dagger in their qualifying hopes…only half way through the campaign. Sweet!
Slightly off topic. Canada loses 8-1 to Honduras. How pitful.
Ivan Perišić: Posebno uočljiv u prvih 10 minuta nastavka kada je uz malo više preciznosti mogao postići hat-trick i izboriti crveni karton.

Beautiful day. Time for some vino.
Sammir didn’t play today?!? Noooo! He’s our pride and joy! How does Stimac not even dare to play him? So, so, so unfair.
March is long time from now things will change good start so its Belgium and Croatia Fight for 1rst and belgium have to go to skoplje good luck, we have to keep pace with belgium until our showdown in october.
Hrvatska players sitting on a yellow card:
Šimunić, Jelavić, Kranjčar, Srna, Schildenfield, Ćorluka, Modric, Lovren, Strinić
Simunic toyed with the Welsh during a few sequences. A joy to watch.
Kako su se Hrvati danas ispromasivali, yiiiikes.
I cant believe Sweden came back from a 4-0 deficit jeeez
Party is at Croatian Hall this Saturday night (Zadarska Noc) in San Pedro Ca. Grupa Zrinski will be entertaining and i will be getting chocolate shmammered at the bar for our win and great momentum we have going into the second half of our qualifiers.
great day….we win, Serbs lose and no wanna be Brazilian born hrvat on the field today, well half of one at least.
Badelj played well against inferior competition. Modric is class. Thought the entire team played well today.
Good result.
I think Badelj played awesome! Big time upgrade at that position! Big reason Luka looked really good too.
What does everyone think about Badelj at defensive center mid? Do you think he deserves another start at the position?
Well done HRV.
It will be the 100th game for Simunic, Srna and Pletikosa in March 2013 against the Serbs. Well deserved boys.
Germany-Sweden 4-4 in the 93th minutes. Game finished!
The party is at Ziva’s basement
N bitno, where r the partys at ?
Croatia gets another win. Serbia with the loss.
Have a drink tonight everyone!
Croatian hearts are happy tonight!
@Josip
Vukojevic was suspended for having too many yellows, Simunic, Jelavic, Srna, Corluka, Modric, Kranjcar and Schildenfeld had yellows coming into this game
I believe it was Jelavic, Modric, that is all I remeber
Serbia lose 0-1 full time.
Does anyone know what our yellow card situation looks like now? Was Strinić siting on any prior yellows?
Germany-Sweden 4-0 after 60 minutes. Now with still ten minutes to go 4-3!
Belgium-Scotland 2-0 in about three minutes while Serbia is still losing against Macedonia. It will be battle between Hvratska and Belgium for the first place.
I’ve watched the entire game. Stimac already has fine results. But today was the first time, they actually played well. Simunic is a beast, I too think he’s too old but he keeps on playing great games. Srna, Badelj(he should be our defensive midfielder!!), Modric and Rakitic were outstanding again. Pletikosa saved our asses in the end. The others played their game too.
Okay, they missed a lot of chances. But this is a great team. Bravo Hvratska!!

@nije bitno
get the watch espn app
Serbia sure doesn’t look like a team that’s in a hurry to score.
WOOOOO LOL! Ziva and everyone here I hope you guys like hot burek becuase I am bringing it to Ziva’s basement for the victory party. The cevaps are covered now all we need are the drinks
2-0 Belgium now
Gavranovic with another goal for Swiss.
great job by them all including Simunic
fuck i spoke to soon oh well
Belgium 1-0
Lets just hope Belgium and Scotland stay 0-0 and serbia losses great scenario for us.
@Bobby
🙂
Ante Jazić is the best Canadian.
Nice to see Croatia win comfortably. Also nice to see Ante’s dumb prediction not happen. Modric makes Croatia go, to sit him on the bench was just another classic statement that I chuckle at.
Simunic has to go, I’ve said that about 8 times in the past four months but I’ll say it forever. He doesn’t have it anymore.
Great Win!
Stamic is proving he kind of knows what he’s doing
Nice win . Ziva can i come to yr basement ? It would be (fun) .
MOTM = Luka Modrić
The guy is magic personified!
I hope someone plays another Croatian song for Mihajlovic again in the post-game press conference 😉
Macs score against servs.. nice. 🙂
Dominant. I don’t think I’ve seen Cro miss so many chances. If there was a game for sloppy finishes this was the one.
croatia has to get clsoe to an A for play but probably a C for finishing. i think jelavic should’ve played this game. the guy is a one touch tactical finisher who never gets any service, and could’ve finally gotten some this game
Bravo momci. 2-0 doesn’t reflect the dominance we showed
Also serbia got a red card they are down to 10 men 😉 looking good for us!
Makedonija vodi 1-0 protiv Srbije! Zabio je Ibraimi iz penala za vodstvo domaćina
Kranjcar needs to lose 15 pounds, I can’t watch him run with his thighs impinging on each other without thinking about how much baby powder Simona is going to have to apply to that chafed region.
Bale is an awesome player.
If Vida could finish, it would actually be a one-horse race 😉
FYROM – Serbs still 0-0 in the 51st
that would be a beautiful result – they slip a few more times and it’ll just be a 2 horse race between us and the Belgians
I think he will play more withdrawn. His best position is playing right behind the forwards.
Yellow Strinić. Luka almost puts one in
Yes Niko go for it!!!
Kranjcar up front? This will be interesting..
I think Badelj is the answer! Him and Modric look great together. If Perisic can work on his finish, and with Rakitic finally looking good too, maybe we’ve finally figured out a midfield line-up.
Now we just have to find a way to fit Sammir in…
Niko in for Dudu?
What r this commercials during the game . Always go for yr gun? Wtf Love you Ziva
Man. 24 shots on goal vs 3 so far
serbia and macedonia tied. scotland and belgium tied . 🙂
liking what badelj or badez as the announcer like to say has shown
nice save stipe!
Dudu keeps finding himself in Jelavić and Mandža type scoring spots right in front of the goal
FINALLY.
now I can relax a bit.
That Welsh goalie is so well positioned. This could’ve easily been another 5 goal loss for Wales if it weren’t for him.
ok thank you.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!
he can’t miss from there! well done
WOW, 10 chances for Dudu this game. Finally buries it.
I can just seem them scoring in the 90 minute and leaveing a very bad taste in our mouths until March. Putting the fucking ball in!!
Ziva is extending an invitation to the basement? I’ll bring the cevape.
what the hell are they doing.
DUDU!!
We are wasting too many chances!!!!!!!!!
Are they playing with heart today? I see many missed chances.
That easlily could have been a red card for “Denying an Obvious Goalscoring Opportunity”.
That leaves two subs. What will Stimac do??
1. Sammir
2. Jelavic/Kalinic
Ziva, may I come over to your basement?
Lovren must be hurt (again) if he was subbed out.
I’d like to point out that since this is half time. ANONYMOUS people making statements that Croatians are bigots because we don’t want a negro playing for Croatia.
Croatia is a country made up of Croatians, people that have lived there for thousands of years and their DNA, genetic code is what makes Croatians who they are. We stopped the Turks during the Ottoman Empire, and now you faggots wants to make statements like, “Times are changing”. Well you can stuff that multicult crap up your ass. Look at France, England, the U.S., it’s not working out because humans are tribal.
Before I vent, a picture is worth a thousand words.
http://img.chan4chan.com/img/2009-02-26/1235606776959.jpg
Good line-up – shows we don’t need a DM even though it’s Wales. Modric lucky that he didn’t get a yellow for his dive. Still sorely lacking a number 1 goal scorer. Too many chances passed up.
@nije bitno……..do this next time…..bring your lap top from home and set your smart phone up as the wifi hotspot. Then capture the wifi signal on your laptop and you will be free to watch without big brother monitoring you. Or you can come over to the fortified basement and watch with the rest of us.
U la la i like Mr. Ziva Istina
as long as wwe keep winning there is no need to worry about goal diff…
Nije Bitno ask your comapny if you can use the bathroom for the next forty-five minutes then run home and watch the game there lol
When do we start to worry about the goal difference? We need to bang out two more in the second half!
My company is blocking all websites. It like every time i find one, the next game that site is blocked. Anybody know of any good apps i can download on my iphone to watch the games off of it?
Ziva is my hero
My verdict thus far: We need more shots on goal. Plain and simple.
it’s great to look awesome against Wales, Macedonia and the clubs in the HNL. That said, he is playing well.
“CanadaDarko says:
Ante B: okay, fair enough, I like to keep an open mind. Why do you feel the opposition is deserved?”
Common man. Let the boycotters boycott and stop drawing them back in. Look at any of the previous threads in the last few weeks for a more than ample explanation of the justifications.
We need some more goals! Let’s go!
Sloppy in the final 3rd. Happy they got the one goal but they should have more.
Simunic is so damn calm on the ball. I don’t care what anyone says, I love the man, he’s awesome.
Hello Ziva
great play by Simunic
crowd loves him
Dang Dudu. 5% of his old finishing skill and he’d have 2 goals
If it stays 1-0, I guess we’ll see Jelavic at the start of the 2nd half.
3 dives in the PK box now….ugghhh
Holy fricken pinball in front of the goal.
And to all you Samir lovers, look at Wales lone Leroy, he’s a fouling machine, probably has and IQ of about 75
.
Perisic and Eduardo can’t buy a goal …
Ante B: okay, fair enough, I like to keep an open mind. Why do you feel the opposition is deserved?
DAMN!
Počela je druga utakmica naše kvalifikacijske skupine u Skoplju. Igraju Makedonija i Srbija. Utakmica je imala krvavu uvertiru. Trojica navijača Srbije su izbodena, a dvojica nešto ranije pretučena.
Some help please
Does anyone know why we’re not wearing the checkerboard jersey at home?
Who is playing
Poor Joe. Getting beaten badly on that right side.
Da Silva has been getting heading lessons from Rakitic.
The shitty field condition actually played a part in the goal.
On a good field, the ball would have come back a bit quicker to the goalkeeper on the backpass from the defender.
ESPN3 via their website in the USA
hahaha…nicely done mandzukic!
Manzo!!!
I guess this GK from Wales went to the same goal keeping school as GPS Kelava.
hvala blackzodiac
Bravo Mario!
GOALLLLLLLL
we look amazing when our boys actually hustle
Hvala Bogu
ZUKIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mario!!!!

any other good links? the one listed at the top is blocked by my work computer
Hello can we get a goal already?
A dive by Bale 🙁
Where can i see this?
@anonymous
Just scroll up. Theyve put a link at the top of this page. It works great.
ATDHEnet.tv
Hi Ziva
We are playing some inspired footy in this stadium. Havent seen us control the ball this well in along time.
Stimac je Majstore!
@Franjo……today’s game means just as much as the next one against Serbia. No reason for Modric to sit. if he gets another yellow card, big deal.
Wher can i watch?
The English commentators are claiming Modric was fouled.
Years ago there was an English commentator that referred to hajduk as “Hi-jack” Split
Luka smart to keep running after falling down in the penalty area in the 13th minute as one more yellow he’s out…..which is why I’m shocked he’s playing.
Our guys are frustrated by the inability to score an early goal, with the entire Wales team behind the ball.
I don’t know if Modric slipped or dove in te box, but that is twice in 10 minutes we have had players throwing themselves in the box…..refs catch on to that and one day we will get screwed on a pk call where there is a legit foul, but the ref will think we are diving.
Good offensive pressure by our boys so far.
The ESPN3 commentator is the same guy again that destroys Badelj’s name… Bad-eldge, Baledge, etc.
@nije Bitno, well said.
AJMO HRVATSKA
Eduardo and Mandzukic playing well together so far.
AJMO MOMCI AJMO HRVATSKA!
I like this formation..
Prediction 3-1.
Damn you guys this topic is played out. For those of you that are watching then watch it for those of you that are not then don’t. Simple as that. From both sides we are doing things out of love for CRO whether it be boycotting or whether it be watching. They are both out of love just different opinions. I’m okay with that now i realized that this week. As long as people are not deliberately hating or just trying to start shit its all good.
If you look very hard, you can!
@Ziva Istina
” hope the HRT producers have a camera focus on Sammir during the playing of Ljepa Nasa. I want to see the emotion from him, the pride in playing for Cro.”
You can see that through a camera lens?
Deservedly so in my opinion and no, it’s not about race
Ante B: Even if Sammir scored 100 goals in one game, there sadly still seems to be a big opposition to having him on the team
I hope the HRT producers have a camera focus on Sammir during the playing of Ljepa Nasa. I want to see the emotion from him, the pride in playing for Cro.
Ahhh, who am I kidding. The guy may be shitting his shorts today worried about the reaction when gets in.
And for the record, if he does get in, the reaction will be mixed.
@Ziva Istina
I knew that already. Thanks for the immense help.
the pitch is green and wet.
No drainaige system and its what you would expect it to be, especially in Slavonija this time of year.
Croatia 3 Wales 1
Mandzukic (2) Bale (1)
Perisic (1)
@Kvartuc, you are seriously picking Eduardo over Jelavic and Mandzukic? That is laughable.
Kranjcar to start? I know its Wales but your overly concerned with the yellow cards being carried. Your lineup gives Wales way too much of an opportunity for something other than a loss. You have to field your strongest lineup in this match, period.
How is the pitch?
@jm
“does vukojevic have a card?”
Yellow card trouble and is not available for the game today.
@Elvis
I have seen what lurks in the inner city. You have no idea.
I like a homogenous Croatia. Why are you obsessed with destroying it? Our history is full of death and slavery so there.
I don’t obsess about destroying it, I’m just realistic re the future and your “solution” is so myopic it is laughable.
@ nije bitno . interesting. badelj in a cdm role? does vukojevic have a card? also, surprising still two forward line-up but no jelavic
Croatia 4
Wales 0
Sammir scores all four
This what the starting 11 is looking like according to the web portals.
Vjerojatni sastavi:
HRVATSKA: Pletikosa – Srna, Lovren, Šimunić, Strinić – Rakitić, Badelj, Modrić, Perišić – Mandžukić, Eduardo
I say 2-0 Hrvatska today, with goals from Dudu and Perisic
Ziva , te se vrag . Get a clue.
God, over 40 comments ive scrolled through, hoping to find some tactical sense to read into for this match and all I see are comments about Sammir!
Im losing interest in this website fast for game days…
And Allen, please get off of Bale’s jock for 90 minutes today, ok. 🙂

LOL…..I have seen what lurks in the inner city. You have no idea.
I like a homogenous Croatia. Why are you obsessed with destroying it? Our history is full of death and slavery so there.
Lets let the manager worry about who to play and who not to play. I just hope he starts the best team possible, I could care less what anyone’s skin color is. Go Croatia, lets make some waves in qualifying and in the next World Cup!
@Elvis
Last thing, have a look at a two part series recently shown on PBS entitled “Worse than War” and then come back and let’s talk about inter-racial prejudice and the results when they are manifested completely…..
I know I am God’s child……some of you???? I’m not so sure.
@Elvis
Its wrong to say most Croats are Ok with it. They are not.
How do you know this exactly? Have you polled the population? No, you are simply guessing to substantiate your point.
First there are differences in the races.
This is a bigoted statement, borne of prejudice and a lack of knowledge. At the end of the day, we are all human beings and God’s children as the Catholic church teaches us.
HRVATSKA-WALES 1:1 (1-0)
OSIJEK STADION GRADSKI VRT
Gledatelja oko 8,000
Žuti kartoni: Stipe Pletikosa ( 62′ ) Badelj ( 35′)
Crveni kartoni: –
Strijelac: Mario Mandzukic (25′)
Najbolji Igrac: Mario Mandzukic
@Anonymous
First there are differences in the races. This fact. Its more than just skin pigment. However, this is HAETS Department.
Second the National team is about us not them. It belongs to the Croatian people not foreigners. Why do you think anyone can wear our colors? Its wrong to say most Croats are Ok with it. They are not.
@ELvis
Oh yeah, by the way where did you read any hate? Curious, just debating the discussion points….
@Elvis
Not at all, my parents were both born in CRO, grandparents as far back as well that I know of…..
I consider myself educated and enlightened and also a proud Croat as well, albeit born in another country.
I believe you can take people for who they are and not judge them by the colour of their skin, which most people who have a modicum of education understand is primarily due to the presence of melanin in the skin and genetics based on ethnic origin.
It says alot about you when you believe you can judge a person’s ability to be a proud Croatian based on a number of random sentences written on a website.
I also believe the vast majority of those who are resident’s of Croatia would have nothing against an immigrant who obeys that countries laws and contributes to its society, irrespective of original origin. After all, those with some smarts understand all human beings are immigrants.
SAMMIR NEEDS TO GO! WHEN I SEE HIM PLAY ON THE FIELD I GET SO DISSAPOINTED. OVO JE HRVATSKA ITS NOT FRIGGIN A MELTING POT MULTI CULTURAL COUNTRY. IF YOU WANT IT TO BE SO THEN BOZE SACUVAJ!!!!!
i still think that sammir lacks merit to be on the team. however, the optics of a walkout if sammir is subbed on would be terrible. it would be seen in one way, and one way only: croats are a bunch of racists.
fifa and the international media (maybe croatian media will report it differently) will not see it as a protest against the HNS…they will see it as racism, pure and simple (and at its core, that does constitute a part of the equation based upon the posts on here). i think its ridiculous to wish that this will happen. the world will look at us as a bunch of backwards people. i get what ziva and some others are saying about how this will send a message to the HNS leadership. however, thats not what outsiders will see. its a bad move, plain and simple. for that reason, i hope stimac is not stupid enough to instigate things by using him today. he is just asking for trouble. we’ll see i guess. just my two cents
on to the game…..real curious to see the line-up and how we juggle defeating wales with protecting yellow cards for serbia.
love 5 mids in this game to control possession and to guard against bale (say what you will…..we don’t have anyone who can go 1v1 with him so we need to watch him collectively). if the serbs can put 6 past wales at home, surely we can put 2-3 goals in and hold wales down, even if we sit a regular or two.
prediction: 3-1 (eduardo, jelavic, badelj)
@Anonymous
You must be a mixed race person. I am sorry for you but you need to find another outlet for your hate. We are Croats proud and true.
Actually, most of the world would probbaly agree that National teams should be made of the people that it represents.
Sure you will Elvis, sure you will….you keep believing that.
The whole world is wrong and your merry little minority is right. You rock!
You should be ashamed of yourselves. Sammir is not Croatian. Didn’t I teach you anything?
ZIVIO BLAGO ZADRO
To affect change you don’t need the majority to see your way. A small but determined minority can affect change. We will build this minority and will fight. Jock sniffers!!
Get the stretcher ready, Simunic ankles will be broken if he gets stuck one on one against Bale.
Good point Anon
Times they are changing, and there is NOTHING any of you bigots can do about it…….NISTA!!!!!!!!!
Where is the outrage when a black american plays for the basketball national team? where is the outrage that some asian’s put on our checkers and represent us in table tennis in the olympics. was anyone complaining when a bulgarian won a medal back in the day for weight lifting in the olympics for us? A national team is a national team, and soccer isn’t the only national team.
To the person with the German comment.
We owe Germany a fat one during the 1990’s. Helmut Kohl and his administration showed real courage when they helped us.
If a German wants to play let him as long as it doesn’t cost more than one spot.
But the question is what will you do when half our team is not Croatian? How can any of you think that this is Ok? The National Team is about honor, tradition, and pride. Who wants our team to look like France? Mark my words we will see a number of young foreign immigrants entering Croatia with an eye on the HNS. To that I say no!
Anyone have a link to watch the game?
.
Just get over it this is the modern age and we are a country of immigrant…almost everyone have or know someone that moved abroad, also Eduardo contributions over the years has been invaluable.
I don’t have a problem with Sammir playing for the NT although having having the coach bringing players with no international experience to crucial qualifiers just for the sake of boosting is transfer price so is “brother/agent” can profit, this is UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I can’t speak for the others, but no racism on my end. For god’s sake, us dalmatinci are the most oppressed people in Croatia. I would never go after someone based on skin color or where they originate. I have been bitching about Mamic and his influence for years. To me this is all about Mamic, Stimac and Puppet Suker.
Plus, the other guys who were called up had some sort of croatian blood, so people identified with them. Again, I cant speak for everyone else as I am only person, but this is not about the wanna be Brazilian born Hrvat, this is about the ass clown leadership within croatian soccer.
As you watch today’s game on your computer screens or on TV I encourage all of you to symbolically turn your backs for at least a minute if the wanna be Brazilian born Hrvat comes in.
Walking out of the stadium would only cement the world’s view that we are a bunch of racists.
For those of you suggesting that your dissatisifcation is not with Sammir, but with the leadership, I call bullshit. This isn’t the first time that the leadership has called players based on questionable merits. There was little whining (and certainly no planned “symbolic gestures”) when these guys were called up. Further, if Sammir were a German born white player, most of you guys would be jumping up and down to have him on the team. Call it what you want, but this is a black/white issue. The racism on this board can be suffocating at times. Maybe the CSR guys can start a companion blog, CroatainNationalism.com or something for these guys.
Ajmo Hrvatska.
1st place is ours.
I hope the rumors are true that people would walk out or turn their backs in a symbolic gesture. This is not about the wanna be Brazilian born Hrvat. This is dissatisfaction over the leadership (Mamic, Stimac and Puppet Suker).
But, I doubt it will happen. The repka doesn’t get to play often in Slavonija and most of the fans going to the game are star-struck. They are in a way selfish (the jock sniffing population who will do anything to be near a celebrity/athlete) and care more about themselves than what is good for the savez long term. Sometimes its not about you, but what is good for the country.
Let’s go Hrvatska, time to create some space between the top 2 and the rest of the pack. Praying Macs beat the Servs too!
Laknat and jm both idiots. Give us nothing except the same old hate towards Simunic.
Anonnymus you have a bee on ur head
@Raptore – agreed.
@Rob I – good point with Simunic. Full respect to him
and his service to the repka. I just have this funny feeling that Bale will find a way to isolate him like he did to Rio Ferdinand.
Having said that he deserves his place based on his performance. He looks to tire down the stretch and I do not know if you want to waste a sub on a CB?
Ready, focus and sharpe is the theme today.
Uvijek Vjerni !
Simunic has been solid for the past 2 games, without him we would of lost the game against Belgium.
Raptore – your comments are right on the money…
@Anonymous
You are the stupidest person on this site. PRAVI BUDALA
@Laknat-Word has it that Simunic read what you said,and he has left the squad NOW.Well done Laknat,up until now I just thought that you speak useless jiberish when you post stuff about Simunic.
Simunic is suck and i need him to leave Squad NOW
Simunic is suck that’s why i dont want him to playing
lets hope 10k dont walk out. Im over the whole sammir issue, The only people who can force the issue are the players, and if they dont give a fuck then so dont I. I just want a win, if he plays 20 min I couldnt care less anymore..
the comment above is the stupidest ive read on this site
Rumor has it that it’s all bull shit, I don’t see that happening, A Possibilty in Split, Not in Osijek, I don’t see Fans leaving when they hardly even get an opputunty to see NT games..
I actually hope Sammir Plays just to prove to all those idiote who live abroad & are against 1 or 2 non Hrvati playing in our squad, you won’t find a more proud Hrvat then me, yes I speak our jezik fluently, I have been following our NT before most of you were born, but yall got 2 get with the times, its 2012, not the early 1900s, & if theres a small possibillity Sammir will better our Squad (not saying he will) but if by chance it can get us further in the next few tournies, then why not, getting Croatia’s name out to the world & making other nations take notice is what really matters..
Sammir is black that’s why i dont want him playing
