Starting XI vs. Scotland: Pletikosa – Vida, Ćorluka, Lovren, Strinić – Srna, Vukojević, Modrić, Kranjčar – Kalinić Mandžukić.
It’s true. Croatia not only lost to Scotland for a second time this qualifying campaign, but they couldn’t even find the back of the net against the Scots in 180 minutes. Croatia only have one point in their last four competitive matches and will limp into the playoff round with zero momentum and zero confidence. After the 2-0 loss to Scotland Tuesday night, manager Igor Štimac said in a postgame press conference that he would put in his letter of resignation to HNS president Davor Šuker because of the result string of bad results. He said that ream morale is down and he would do anything for the better of the federation.
In any normal circumstance, Stimac would have been fired weeks ago. If this is all true, who should step in as new Croatia coach?
Croatia-Scotland Highlights
Sorry guys…I meant World Cup not Euros!!!
FauxCro…..Modric was playing???? lol
Denis, Faux Cro, MatesicMethod, thanks for your comments. As Faux mentioned, your players can take this as a wake up call…we all know you can play a lot better than in these last few matches. Look forward to the playoffs guys, you’re almost in the Euros and I’m sure you’ll be there and playing the type of football that everyone knows you are capable of. Since Scotland aren’t going and I’d rather stick needles in my eyes than support England, I’ll be behind Croatia. Sincerely, good luck!!
Niko Kovac’s press conference:

Mali sranje ? Sounds like what I call your wife in bed …. You guys have no friends so you guys come on here to get the attention you guys so deserve, like little bitches lol
@ Funkyy.
Scotland has blessed us with a reality check.
Football basics:
Be organized, run hard and play for the flag.
Ironic Niko Kovac is our Gordan Strachan!
We always do things the hard way.
These 2 losses and a new manager might be the spark we need to get us through a playoff round.
If the team isn’t hungry now, then they will never be hungry.
@Denis:
Eduardo and Olic give it their all.
I agree about Srna, however we don’t have a replacement who will be immediately better or equivalent.
@Funkyy:
I have a bunch of Scottish friends & acquaintances and have no problem with them as a whole.
The team’s style of play does not suit the international game.
You can play that way in a meaningless home game against Croatia, but if you do that to Spain or Italy players will be red carded.
Modric was consistently fouled late on and off the ball during the whole match.
@ Faux Cro
“Good point about the anthem.”
I agree.
@SišmiššĆovjek,
I agree with you. Olic always gave 110%
@Tomo,
I agree 100%
@funkyy,
Thanks for chiming in. I always rooted for Scotland and against the English. There are only a handful of teams I wouldn’t mind losing to and one of them is scotland. Hopefully, this is a turning point for you guys and your national team gets some luck in the next draw.
This team has been shit for a while because they play like they dont care. This, you can see on their faces and body language.
Only a few of them would die from a heart attack from running until the whistle goes. The rest of them, and we all know who they are CAN GO TO HELL. I never want to see them in the jersey again.Throw a garbage mafiaso coach in the mix, and this is what you get.
Thanks for your comments Albatross and Petar. When Croatia first appeared as a national team we all fell in love with their style of play and the technically gifted players you had..it was a pleasure to watch them. We Scots have been suffering the dreaded “transitional period” where our national football team sank lower and lower in FIFA’s rankings, and it hurt because we love our football. We had Bertie Voghts as manager and I think his record was something like 16 defeats, 4 draws and 5 victories, then we had various other managers. Sometimes we had the kind of results that in the 70’s-80’s wouldn’t have been considered “surprise” results…we beat France home and away in the Euro Qualifiers and we beat England 1-0 at Wembley in Euro Qualifiers. The problem was consistency, we were just consistently shit. But, under great pressure from the fans (and probably worried about their own jobs) the Scottish Football Association finally gave in and appointed Strachan. We know that this doesn’t mean we’re gonna reach the World Cup final or the Euro Final…but at least we can qualify and restore a bit of pride in our team by contributing and making an impression in those competitions.
As for Croatia, good luck in the play off, I’m sure you’ll qualify. And if you play England in the Euros you’ll have all of Scotland supporting you too!!!
By the way, just to set the record straight, we don’t have any problem with the English people..it’s the English media and their arrogance that makes us support any team that plays against them…they really believe that they are gonna reach the final of every World Cup, so we enjoy it when their little bubble is popped, usually in the quarter final.
@ Funkyy – Every Nations has its share of Homers who tend to view through rose colored glasses. Croatia is no different. Some of these guys think our players are the best in the world and we can beat anyone. To be honest, I called both losses to Scotland. I am quite familiar with the Scots, you guys have always played us tough. You have a very good work rate but lack the individual skill as a whole. I knew we were totally out of place for awhile under Igor Stimac, the warning signs were everywhere. I still root for the Scots and the Irish, especially when you guys are playing the English or the Welsh.
I have to be honest though, with the talent at our disposal, under a competent manager, I would always put money down to beat you guys. By that I mean no disrespect. I would never take the game lightly, you cannot take anyone in world Football lightly. However, I do like our chances.
Congrats on the 6 points, I do hope this is a step in the right direction for you guys. I only hope for the Euros you take 6 points of the English and as a result they do not qualify for the tournament.
@Funkyy
You’re not minnows at all. Read my post near the top when you have a chance.
I’ve just been reading your comments lads. Some of you gave well balanced opinions and predictions, but a few of you were totally out of order. Scotland are nobody’s minnows..yes we’ve been shit for a while, but that was due to our Football Association picking “yes” men for the manager’s job. Strachan took over when we were already with no chance of qualifying and he has done a remarkable job in a very short time. Just remember that these recent results are when the players haven’t had the great motivating factor of qualifying for a World Cup…so imagine how we will be when the Euro 2016 qualifiers come round next year. So for you well balanced guys, condolences for losing to us, and for the guys that called us minnows..HA HA HA. Hope we get you in the Euro qualifiers…6 points in the bag!!! lol
@ Denis – Glad to be back. I hope the Wedding and the trip went well!! All the best from Toronto!!
@Denis Svirčić
“Pletikosa and Simunic are the only two players that would die on the pitch if needed. There are others that are close and then the rest is half-assing it right now.”
You are going to have to add Olic to that list. Love him or hate him he will go threw a brick wall if need be.
I can’t keep up with you boys…
yes, this is officially the longest CSR thread.
I found out about Kovac in the morning but had to get to work. My apologies….
Can we start a new thread? I’m gettin old and can’t put my mouse arrow on the very tiny slidebox on the right hand side anymore – usually around 550 comments for me – thanks. 🙂
@ Faux Cro
Good point about the anthem.
I am on the liberal spectrum of Hrvat but firmly believe you have to sing the hymna from deep within your Croatian CORE.
As much as I root for Rakitic to perform for us I wonder if NOT singing the anthem jinxes him?
Italians always sing the anthem and those Mali pederi find a way to win big matches in major tournaments.
Every player should made to sing the hymna.
@ Dennis
Always appreciate your 2-10 cents !
Jebi ga it’s your site. Share the whole dollar.
Give Srna the first half and sub him out 60′ mark.
Kovac will pick the hungriest crew he can find.
Jebi ga on zna kako ide na veliki utakmice.
Advantage Hrvatska our playoff opponent will watch all of sranje matches and feel that they will exploit us. Then the Kovac “we came to kick your ass crew” shows up and runs you down like pride of lions that have not eaten in 2 weeks!
I am sort of down with Stari on Friday Nov. 16th and will witness the real Vatreni.
Ps – love to see Lovren in DM role.
Yay Denis, i think 600 may be a CS record!
The wife can wait. Croatian football is more important 🙂
@Ivica,
I am impressed with Lovren this season. However, the dude makes bonehead mistakes. The positives outweigh the negatives right now. However, dude can cost us a goal or two.
I would give Benko a shot off the bench.
@Faux Cro,
I agree with you on Srna. However, I think he’s past his prime. He’s on the downhill right now.
Everyone talks shit about the Brazilianborn croat, but dude gives 100% every time hes on the pitch.
@Denis:
I agree about the German attitude.
@Matesic:
Well said.
Call me Denis #600 after getting the #600 comment.
Call me an idiot, but I am with Matesic.
“No worries about the draw.”
We can beat any one of those four sides if we play like we did in the Euro. Nothing has changed. Its the same team from the Euro with a different manager.
Sweden and France might suit us better. Croatia has always played well on the counter.
This team does not “suck.” We are just playing like we suck. Scotland could barely beat a decent Wales team. We are not in the same class. We are like Portugal. Portugal shows up and everything is clicking they can beat anyone. Show up half-ass and tie with Israel at home. Watch the ending of the Portugal-Israel game to see all the frustrating looks on the faces of Portugal.
Ok, that was more like 10 cents not 2 cents. I will go hang out with the wife now.
@Denis:
Well said, I agree.
Srna also hussles on the pitch.
Watch the Cro Nat Anthem played. The players that seem the most visibly moved (Srna,Pletikosa, Big Joe) play the hardest for the full 90.
@Denis
Benko off the bench as a joker, I would definitely try.
He’s like King Midas out there this season. It doesn’t matter who the opponents are. He’d be extra motivated as he’s never really received a payday in his career, and this could be it.
Lovren has been impressive these past two games, but was at fault for a couple of goals. He’s a good player, but I just don’t know why this happens.
Someone brought up the idea of playing him at DM. That would be interesting. He gets to make his runs into the opponent’s box, and he gets to take down opposing players outside our own box.
It’s an interesting experiment. Too bad we won’t have a friendly to test this out.
Pletikosa and Simunic are the only two players that would die on the pitch if needed. There are others that are close and then the rest is half-assing it right now.
Mandzukic does what he can. But like we’ve seen in the past few games, without service he goes from Super Mario to Mario who? Dude does show heart and had to come back as a defender multiple times just to get a touch on the ball.
I blame the players more than I blame Stimac. I hope Kovac sits some of these regulars that half-ass it in training or on the pitch in game one of the playoff. I hope he fields hungry players. Bring in Benko, bring in Rebic, bring in Radosevic if necessary. Some of these regulars are not hungry enough for the croatian shirt.
Kovac might be our first foreign manager. Dude might bring some of that German mentality which he and his brother showed on the pitch.
The only question now is how much influence Suker and Mamic will have on the team?
Welcome back Petar Radman-Livaja! Hope you are well my friend
my 2 cents….
1) I can’t believe all this talk of “we suck” “we are not good enough” now after the past four games. What were these people saying after we tied Belgium in Belgium, after we beat Serbia and were undefeated for the first half of qualifying? This team does not suck.
2) The team gave up. A few players gave 100%, the rest were frustrated and lost interest. Against Scotland they gave up on Stimac. Again, this doesnt mean that they suck. There is enormous talent on this team. On paper we are good enough to qualify for the world cup from europe. However, the game is not played on paper.
3) Any manager at this point is good for the team. Stimac lost control of the team. He knows this and “honorably” gave his resignation. Would he be fired if he didnt give his resignation? hmmm 50% chance.
4) I never thought that Stimac would resign. I didnt think he was that big of a man.
5) players do this all the time. Give a half-ass effort to get the manager packing. Stimac was unqualified for the job, but did what he could with the pressure of Stimac to play Sammir and probably a few more players. Stimac signed a deal with the devil and got stung in the end. However, I’m not saying that Stimac is an angel. Karma comes back to bite yo in the ass.
6) Niko Kovac: The players will show up for both qualifiers. It all depends who we face. France: 10% chance, Sweden 25% chance, Romania: 60% chance, Iceland 60% chance.
I would have brought in Ciro or Cico and maybe even have the Kovac brothers as assistants just to get the experience. Kovac is not a bad signing, even if he signed a 2 year gig. Most likely, he wont ask for a lot of $$$.
7) In the end, our national team will not progress under this type of management, however, the management under Markovic wasn’t that much better and we survived and produced good results for a country of 4 million people.
@ Dalmo Ante
Zadar is the jewel of the Adriatic!
Appreciate all the intelligent Hrvati that contribute to our community.
Nema veze about the typos, I post from iPhone and avg 1 typo an entry.
@ Mali Ante
No worries about the draw. Whom ever it is will lace them up and play like Niko Kovac patrolling the defensive midfield.
Man he would lay the wood and if messed with one of us you were going to feel it next play.
I am just happy that we will compete. No guarantees in nogomet, just leave your heart on the field.
Niko Kovac = Lion Heart!
Bog I Hrvatska.
@ Ziva comment
“If they call up Halilovic for the playoffs, then we know Kovac doesn’t have full control. After all, it was only about 6-8 weeks ago when he said players not playing at a high level with their clubs have no business being on the repka. Let’s see if he sticks to his words or follows Mamic’s lead. And if that means Halilovic decides to go play for BiH….Fine by me. It would mean he never was fully onboard in playing for Cro afterall.
I know some will want Kovac to bring in some of the other U-21s, but based on Kovac’s own criteria, there currently is no place on the senior side for Halilovic and Rebic.”
Do you agree with the criteria that players not playing at a high level with their clubs should not be called up?
I don’t.
Rebic is on a team right now that has more striker depth than our national team (Fiorentina has Gomez and Rossi, Cro has Mandzo and little else). Just because Rebic can’t crack the starting lineup for Fiorentina, doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve a callup. He scored in the only game he’s played for us, and his ability to play on the left side, his ability to shoot from outside the box, and his work ethic and strength are exactly the reasons why we need to at least have him off the bench.
If we were to follow this thinking, then Simunic would’ve retired back in 2009. Pletikosa wouldn’t have been our starting keeper at Euro2008. Even Niko Kovac himself wasn’t really killing it at Red Bull Salzburg while starting for us at Euro2008 (and winning player of the game against Germany).
I think Niko said those things to motivate his young players to work harder, and not to be satisfied with that pay cheque. I don’t think he will leave out hard working players if they’re not starting…andI don’t think he is a puppet for Mamic if he does call people up who don’t.
@CroatHrvat
Mamic is a member of the HNS executive committee.
Zdravko Mamić: Nemojte mene ništa pitati, pa nije ovo Dinamo
hahaha – This guy is like the Joe Pesci of Croatian soccer.
@MatesicMethod
Jebi ga a typo, apologies for messing up your name
@tomo
Kranjcar barely saw the pitch during the euro 2012 qualifying campaign and fairly well led us to the tournament, additionally in the few appearances he made for levy united he was playing well and bagging goals, the player just has to want it
@MatesicMethold
I like how you roll and you seem to have a clue and im guessing you’re from the Zadar area 😀
Cool throwback article
http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/news/newsid=1795111/index.html
Its not just stimac that is the problem. Our coaches have a history playing players that are sitting on benches at their clubs or aren’t in form. The majority of our team at the moment is based in the ukraine/russia. The current team is just shit. And on top of that they play out of their natural positions. IF THIS CRAP KEEPS CONTINUING, EXPECT MORE HUMILIATION FOR OUR JERSEY!!!
@ Matesic
Amen!!
Niko does give us a chance…now we just hope for no France or Sweden for that matter!!
I get why the fans in Zagreb didn’t come out for the Belgium game and it did help in the end. Trouble is, the players who choose to play for their country suffer. I hope they play in Poljud so the players have the right support.
NIKO KOVAC!!!!!!!
Win lose or draw we will compete and be organized from the back up through the spine.
At least now we have a fighting chance to claim a spot in the WC. Then we will have time to blood all of our young talent.
Count me down for bearing the cross of the Niko Kovac appointment.
The beauty of Croatia is that we are a nation that lives across all 4 corners of the globe.
He has is right hand man Robert Kovac with him to sure up the cb’s.
You can’t win a playoff if you cannot secure your defense.
Full faith once we find out draw that Niko will be able to look into the souls of all of our players and discern who is ready to step up and who needs to step off.
@ Svi Hravti.
The creme always rises to the top.
Bog I Hrvati.
Not going to lie, hiring ciro for lulz if anything would have been epic.

@ Slavonac
I couldn’t agree with you more. There is nothing wrong with bringing in some young talent like Halilovic to be with the team and to secure him. We’ve done it in the past and most other countries have. It’s also a way to bring them along so that there is less pressure and they are more comfortable when the time comes and they earn some playing time. For any of us who have played sports, playing with better competition makes you better.
This team looks tired, it could use some younger kids to provide a spark…..

“That 18 yr old Albanian in not a hrvat. i bet you would be willing to play a foreigner on our repka. Someone with no attachment to Cro”
I used him, the Albanian, as an example for his class of player and how great it would be to have a player with such a strong presence on the field. I’d never sign an Albanian as a Croatian, especially if he never lived in Croatia and has no blood lines. No, although I wasn’t angry Dudu became a naturalized Croatian I wouldn’t say we should start searching the streets of Argentina and Chile for stars that have Croatian blood, especially those that have no connection to Croatia. Unlike you, I don’t have a problem with someone that was either born in Croatia and moved at a young age or just a 1st generation emigrant going to play for Croatia…like Simunic or Viduka or possibly anyone who’s parents were born there but left during Yugo times.
I could be wrong but i dont think it would have been a disaster playing him to secure him, they already should have just to get it over with. I wouldnt have started him or played him in major clash but he should have gone in over a few of the subs…1) to get this over with 2) you just never know what an immature kid who is too dumb to have fear can do 3) he’s got the ability Perisic doesnt…good enough for me!
at the above, english please
modric deserves the arm band. The dude leads by example. He hustles on that field, unlike some of the lazy fucks on our team that dont think its important to mark there men during a penalty kick or give up the ball and fail to play defense. Srna = lazy
Can somebody please clarify for me, what is Mamic’s official position within the HNS?
Regarding Adnan Januzaj, he has already turned down the country he was born in, three times. Wilmots has said it is up to him now and they will not ask again. Somehow, I believe he will ask again. The English are delusional and believe they even have a remote chance. I believe he is eligible to play for 6 Nations. His connections to those Nations are remote at best. Croatia is among them, however, I have never read that he has even even mentioned us. I personally do not give a damn, I would tell the kid to follow his heart and he will never regret his decision. I have been following him for over a year and from everything I have read, he has only ever talked of playing for Albania. If that’s the case, good for him and I wish him all the best. Nobody can ever claim that he was trying to play for a bigger nation just to win.
Our persistent chase of the Argentinian striker and French midfielder, Sertic, is bordering on the pathetic.
Most of you think it’s the coaching, but with this group, I think it’s more lack of talent. Stimac obviously had to go, but, that was only part of the problem.
Croatia just lost to Scotland – twice. If any other country had lost to them twice and you went to their message board and all you were reading is “If we had another coach, we would have won both games”, you’d be saying to yourself – “Ya, right”
Not only did we lose, we didn’t score once in 180 minutes. Have you watched what has been happening when we come to the final 1/3 of the field lately? No creativity or anyone that can shoot from distance outside of Kranjcar. Har far can you go with that?
Well, with everything you wrote about Halilovic you seem to think the obvious choice for him is Cro. If so, no need to be scared and play him just for the sake of playing him. If the kid is committed to Cro he will be willing to wait. If not, then we dont need him. He will be another one of these players who does better for the club side than for the repka.
That 18 yr old Albanian in not a hrvat. i bet you would be willing to play a foreigner on our repka. Someone with no attachment to Cro.
@F1….yes sir, I am willing to carry the cross and question everything the savez does unlike some. If there were more people like me the savez would not be in the position it is in right now.
Great news. Kovac will definitely provide some inspiration and a new strategic and tactical approach. What kills me in watching this campaign is Rakitic having only 1 goal and Mandzukic only 3. We have players that can cross the ball to Mandzukic and make headed goals look easy but somehow Stimac did not emphasize this? Hard to believe. I think we will draw France but I’d rather have Romania. Iceland would be ideal. Given our current form Sweden/Ukraine/France are to be avoided but hey better lose to them now then embarass yourself against them or a better opponent at the World Cup.
Looking forward to the discussions after Monday when our opponent is announced. The one thing I’ll give credit to Stimac for is getting us into the playofss. People forget that Bilic failed to do that in 2010 and had a pair of truly embarassing ‘revenge’ losses against the Englesi.
@ Ziva – You are wrong, Rebic has already made his Firoentina debut. Albeit, a very short cameo. I believe he was slightly injured in that encounter. After Gomez was ruled out for a few months, Montella came out publicly and said that this would be the chance for Rebic to showcase himself.
I have always advocated challenging younger players. When I learned that Kovac would be the new coach, my first reaction was to think that the impossible is possible. My second thought was what if we can get rid of Mamic and all his corrupt puppets one day. My third thought was, I wonder if he will call up any Under 21 players. Brozovic, Kovacic, Radosevic, Rebic, Bubnjic and perhaps Simunovic would be the only ones that warrant a call up. Obviously, how they could be used by the senior side varies from player to player. Its also almost a direct comparison with Slaven Bilic. He was brought almost immediately from the Under 21s to the senior side and brought some young talents that he had trusted (Modric, Corluka and Eduardo). The interesting caveat in all of this is that poor Niko is being thrown right into the fire. I do not believe any competitive match will occur before the playoffs start. Would he risk a youngster in matches where the margin for error is razor thin? That is the problem when so many teams loan their youngsters to teams that always seem to be in relegation battles. Teams such as those cannot afford to go through the trials and tribulations that with blooding youngsters into the game. Every point counts and you tend to lean towards the older experienced players. Having said all that, Radosevic looked fine to me when ever he was on the field. Kovacic is a beast, he doesn’t need to prove anything to me. I am also fine with Rebic or Brozovic seeing some action.
@ Ante – Regarding Jedvaj, he was not allowed to suit up for the longest time, not even allowed to be on the subs bench because he needed some kind of special registration paperwork from Uefa. From what I read it was partly down to his age and also because of Croatias slow transition into the EU. I believe he would also count as an import at one time. Last few matches he just sat on the bench. Regardless, he is already talented enough to at least be on our bench. The kid is an animal. During the Rome Derby, both he and Josip Elez were on their respective benches.
Re: Halilovic
Ziva, you really wouldn’t lock up a potentially future star if you knew there was a risk of him leaving? I don’t think we’re talking about a future Ivan Perisic, this kid has had all the big team names attached to his. I disagree with you…look at it this way, he was born in Croatia, his mother is Croatian, he’s educated and raised in Croatia…many other very good Croatian players with far less of a future graced the Croatian “dres”, we stole Rakitic and many here love him…Halilovic at this age is definitely far more promising than him….yes, I’ve seen him and let me just say its a massive accomplishment for any 16 year old to play any role on any first league team. Would the Germans secure him if Poland had a claim to him…I say yes, would the Italians secure him if Argentina could…yes!
I think you are sometimes a little too logical and remove a little too much emotions when you think and come up with a decision. What if he ends up securing being far better than we ever could have imagined? Look at the 18 year old Albanian with Man U, i’d give anything for a great player like that…they fill the seat in stadiums and give their team a chance to win every single game. sometimes you’re a little too stubborn dude, i to je istina!
@ZI … love the religious oeuvre you’re displaying… annoint, cross to bear, fortification/cloistered from the world, not leaving mommy’s bosom, pedantic righteousness, no mention of Tata Istina etc…
Don’t mean this at all in a bad way, as I’m not a psychologist by any stretch… just stating what I observe. Since you post a lot, and sometimes insightfully, some things popped out at me.
I personally am going to be optimistic about this scenario. If I’m wrong then I’ll carry the cross with the “I told you so” stuff from the pessimists.
Stimac is one thing and Niko is another. You can not compare the two even with Mamic in the equation. Stimac went to war with the HNS and Mamic then got in bed with them. Who does that? It was all a joke from the get go.
Our Savez was always run by scum or politicians (Tudjman). Again, I don’t see Niko letting us down ( joining the mafia side). He may not get us qualified for the WC but he will try his best. If we don’t qualify and Mamic stays out of his way, i definitely think he can create an awesome atmosphere within the repka with wins and create a respectable Croatian side once again for the euros and beyond.
Ziva will now carry the cross. Gotta give you that one. LMAO.
Wow, not sure what to expect now. For some reason I feel optimistic though, and despite what is said and written about our national team’s leaders, I have to admit I am impressed they pulled the trigger at this stage. The easy thing would have been to let Stimac stay through the playoff round and then just blame the whole thing on him. This move, good or not, at least implies hope.
Is Srna a captain? We can argue that.
But, based on what we have watched from Modric. He is no leader. But, he may get it by default.
Right, because all of the other options outside of the Ukraine-based players are better.
I’m no fan of Vukojevic or Kalinic. But Jelavic has not shown that is any better than Kalinic. I’m willing to bet Jelavic wont have as many goals this year as kalinic had in his year in the EPL and that wasn’t much.
before we all go apeshit and annoit Kovac the next great thing…..remember, this move was made by Mamic. Mamic had to sign off on it for it to take place. This is the same guy who installed Stimac as coach. I want Kovac to succeed, but every move he makes must be questioned.
I questioned everything Strucnjak Stimac did. I was called names for it. That’s OK, I’m willing to carry the cross.
oh ok, well that was then and this is now… anyway I guess we’ll see, but if it were me there’s no better way to send a very clear message to the locker room that there’s a new sheriff in town, than by demoting, or not even calling the existing captain. It’d be a bold move, and a productive one on the pitch for the reasons that i mention. Niko was a captain too, so he knows full well the responsibility, and the power of the spot… in my mind Srna’s never done anything leadership wise on the pitch… Giving it to Luka would at least acknowledge that he’s the best player on the team and would force him to never disappear on the pitch as he quite often does for a player of his caliber.
When N Kovac retired He and Bilic Choose Srna.
@Miro… not sure what you mean, did he come out and say that Srna is captain…?
As an addendum to my previous note, I’d personally like to see that all the Ukraine based players, save Dudu are banished… I could be wrong but my sense is that place spoils our players. Nobody has gone over there and improved, it just seems to be mafioso cash-out spot of last resort.
@ Jp Kovac made Srna Captian so no.
Who is his stozer anyone know R kovac and who else
Anyone bet the armband changes hands?
I’d bet big Joe or Luka gets it.
Love the rebirth, it’s amazing how a single change turns the entire complexion of the situation on its head.
Some heads are gonna roll and it’s about fricken time.
Personally, I’d love to see Srna on the bench or if not off the squad completely. Now’s the time, too complacent, too much of a whiner and too predictable of a player.
i’d also bet we don’t get France now either.
I know Niko Kovac as a player very well but have not followed him as a coach. I’m hearing some good things. He has a good work ethic, literately obsessed with what ever task is in front of him. Lets hope is enough to spark a squad revival and ticket to Brazil.

@ Bobby thats what happens when a bookie mafia scum is in charge of national team but alot of money was made in the bookies for the 2 scotland losses that game in June a win for scots was 15. so put 1000 dollars you made 15,000
This is for you Stico
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YodXJd6j6I
Ribery has come out and stated that France wants to avoid Portugal and Croatia.
Niko Kovac’s U-21 side through 4 games have not given up a goal and have scored 13.
From what I’m hearing about Stimac from friends back home is that not only is he in trouble with the courts, there are also rumors that the Mafia is not happy with him about something. Don’t be surprised if you hear he has already left the country.
Its one thing to be a fan and color commentator e moj Stimac Stmac 14 months on the job Bilic 72 months hahah stimac. Go call HRt and ask for your job back hahah
A good coach will tailor his tactics based on the players at his disposal and the opponent….time will tell.
Let the dude evaluate first what he has and who he thinks he can work with…..no doubt lots of film-watching and in-live game watching over the short terms for him and his staff.
I like to see who we get next month and who Kovac will rely on will some under 21s be called up,Have we seen the last of space shuttle Sammir, What are his tactics if they are 3-6-1 hahahaha good luck.
he may not have a cv as a coach but you got to start somewhere right. Since he left in 2008 we have benn on off team right?
@ ChachaTvoj
They play like he played for the national team aggressive style and very oriented and organized if you can read croatian this is what a under 21 player said about N.Kovac
@ChachaTvoj…..everything you mentioned about halilovic is nice. problem is, nobody has watched any of that from him this season. He may be a “beast” one day, but he is no beast today and does not warrant a call up. Only reason he has been called up is because the savez is scared he will flip to BiH. Let me repeat, the savez is afraid he will flip to might BiH.
I want the Gypsies!
No Frogs please.
Can anyone tell me how Niko Kovac is as a coach, what kind of style does the U-21 team play? Long balls? Passing? Defense? What can we expect from him for the national team? Will he call up some of the u-21 player to the current squad? And does he give out STDs like corluka or is that just a myth?
Since when does it matter if you play for club or not play with heart of croatia exapmle the 1998 were for most part bench players average line up
Ladic-HNL king
Simic-At the time Croatia fc benh at inter
Stimac-Derby county regular
Bilic-50-50 always hurt
Jarni-Bench at real
Stanic-Parma starter
Asanovic-Bench
Boban-Ac milan starter/sub
Prosinecki-Lazy Croatia fc
Suker-Real Bench
Vlaovic-50-50 at club
Some notable no club playing time Rapaic always gave 100% for croatia. N.Kovac at one point fell out of favor but played well. Remeber just qaulify then you have 1.5 months to prepare with National team
Ciro Blazevic shits on Mamic which i dont mind but hey Ciro you were a Tudman kiss ass and Croatia FC owned you.
so there’s a lot of guessing about who we draw. this is how i see it
26% chance of France to factor in “fifa wants us out of the WC conspiracy theory”
24.67% for each of the other three seeded teams
i’d be willing to take action on those odds 🙂
Ziva….. Halilovic has more quality and vision than fucken Peresic and Kalinic combined. What makes him beast is that he has a great touch, good eye for goal and doesn’t hesitate. Put Kranjcar, Kovacic, Halilovic and modric in the midfield we would never lose the ball. Put srna RB, corluka LB….lovren and simunic in CB…and find more consistent strikers…Mando is overrated and inconsistent for the national team. Olic is a luckbox, dudu has not been the same since the legbreak and jelavic was just a 1 hit wonder at everton…we need a backbone on the national team a real captain and star of some sort..srna is too soft as a captain and modric is a star but he is a follower not a leader. Fucken Croatian scouts need to get their shit together… this is the recipe for a winning team in my opinion. oh and fuck any player that punts the ball forward for no reason just because they feel a lil pressure from the opposing team. Pletikosa pisses me of for punting the ball every fuckin time he has the ball…doesnt he know the average height of croatian national team player is 5, 8″ give or take…no common sense on the squad. Croatian coaches need to watch a barca, arrsenal or a dortmund game once in a while.
Bravo Niko, jebes index.yu u tri p.m.
http://www.index.hr/mobile/clanak.aspx?category=sport&id=706473
@ziva he is eligible, was on the bench a few times,
In other words Niko Kovac is them waiving the white flag in the air calling it quits
Iva – I understand where your coming from and i have my doubts too . However i do really believe they brought him in to calm the situation down. They know that they officially are caught now and there is no more denying anything. They know what kind of guy Niko is and he will leave if they do what they have been doing. I hope Mamic slowly backs off (HNS) and stays in his Dinamo hole.
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/suker-zamuckivao-na-indexovo-pitanje-zasto-ne-smijeni-i-mamica-ne-bih-se-vracao-u-proslost-/706451.aspx
this is why I have doubts with Kovac or with anyone brought in by these clowns.
a beast in what??????? Not a beast on the field based on what we have watched.
@Ante B……no, has not played for Roma. I think – and I could be wrong here – he is ineligible to play for Roma until he turns 18 next month. But, he has not played one minute.
halilovic is beast, wtf are u fucking muppets talking about….if u dont want him on the national team u must be retarted.
Has Jedvaj been playing for Roma at all. Anybody know?
You can’t play Rebic on the senior side. Kid has not played for his club team yet.
Moving forward, I’ll be curious to see if Kovac follws his own advise. He said players who are not playing for their club sides should not be called up to the senior national team That means no Rebic at this point in time.
@ Ziva
what’s Kovac’s criteria? You’re telling me you wouldn’t put swap Rebic for say Perisic? I would in a heartbeat. Perisic didn’t just have one bad pass, one bad game – he stunk it up for the entire qualification process.
Will fans show up to a game in ZG? Are they happy enough to show up? Because the players are effected by the fans lack of support. When you have homefield advantage, it should be an “advantage”! They should host the game in one of the diaspora communities. (that is a JOK)
If they call up Halilovic for the playoffs, then we know Kovac doesn’t have full control.
I know some will want Kovac to bring in some of the other U-21s, but based on Kovac’s own criteria, there currently is no place on the senior side for Halilovic and Rebic.
You know what would be awesome……if HRT decides to bring back Stimac as the analyst for Cro national team games. Now, that would be good TV.
For these next two games id have to agree with ciro. we should have had him for these two games and then after them picked up niko. He was quoted saying “he’d turn this batch of players into kamikazes. one thing ciro does well is motivate and that is what our players need right now.
U21’s will need a coach & staff. Please do not let the likes of Kruno Jurcic anywhere near those kids.
I like that his brother is joining the staff, which was probably obvious from the get go. They have the potential to be a nice 1-2 coaching tandem. Just wish they would have had more seasoning with the U21 setup.
Ante B – Niko will leave at a snap of a finger if Mamic sticks his nose into Niko’s business. Mamic will lay low (for now) as far as the repka is concerned and let everything simmer down. People, media, everybody is onto him. I don’t know for how long though….
Ciro put Mamic out there by quoting him.
“Šuker obmanjuje javnost kada kaže da je on to odlučio. Ne, nije. To je Mamić odlučio. Na sudu ću dokazati da je u avionu Mamić svima njima uvjetovao da se postavi Niko Kovač. Govorio je da je to “najbolje za narod”.
My gut feeling is Romania, not saying we are getting them 100%
As for Halilovic, I’d keep him. Why not? I’ve posted in the past, that I’m okay with him playing for Cro. Just a little early for the A squad. He needs to be played more with Dinamo.
I don’t think Niko will call him up unless he’s playing big minutes for Dinamo.
I love Kovac but I am terrified for him as long as Mamic is in the HNS. I hope he’s not corrupted. Bilic started off great but it’s now how you start, it’s how you finish. Ajmo Niko, nedaj se!
Srna pricalo se o Sukeru Mamicu HNSu i ta sva negativna energija se prenjela na ekipu

Re: halilovic
Fuck him and who gives a shit. Couldn’t care less if he plays for us or not if he has to be coerced into it.
The ‘Bosniaks’ can have Halilovic.
I have a feeling Portugal will for sure get Iceland or Romania. And if we are lucky we will get either of those two.
100 % do not see fifa allowing a France v Portugal showdown.
Enough with the Halilovic talk. If Kovac invites him back well he is no different than Stimac. The kid has done nothing to warrant a call up. If he picks Bosnia over Hrvatska so be it.
@nije bitno
Another item to note:
Greece will draw Romania or Iceland. That is a guarantee!
@Adame
The new updated FIFA rankings will come out tomorrow and that is what will be used to determine the seeds. As a result of the games from yesterday, Ukraine will now be seeded and France and Sweden will not be. Portugal, Croatia, Greece and Ukraine will be the seeded teams and the rest will be non seeded.
Halilovic has a backdoor out here from Cro back to BH. He can say that the disorganization and coaching changes leaves things much more uncertain than before. Combo that with him not being called up and a move abroad where he doesn’t have to face an angry cro crowd (if that exists at hns games) everynight, and the dominos could line up.
i know some dn’t care, but i would’ve capped him and trapped him. one player can make a big difference. i’m scared to think what cro would play like without modric
I’m fine with whoever we draw. At some point you have to beat a quality to earn a spot at the World Cup. We have not beaten any quality sides unless you think the Serbs are quality.
The Kovac move is to bring an emotional spark. Not of us know, including the savez, what hind of tactician Kovac is. And, two games in qualifying won’t give us that answer either (win or lose). But, he does bring with him repsect and discipline. I don’t know what the players thought of Stimac. Some had financial relationships with him (Srna and Kranjcar). But, I think we can all assume they will respect Kovac. Effort wont be a question in November. its the other intangibles we have to find an answer for. We have to get back to winning the 50/50 balls and playing quicker. Right now, our style of play is easy to prepare for.
I want to draw the half cigani, Serb loving Romanians.
Ukraine and France will be a nightmare for us. Im hoping we draw Iceland or Romania.
@ The Fonz
We cant draw Sweden theyre seeded with us.
The problem with France is they will for sure have fifa / uefa / platini backing to advance. As such, they are the only team I really hope we avoid.
Sweden to a lesser extent.
Hopefully we get Romania or Iceland.
i’d rather have france. it seems like Cro always plays well against the best competition, and plays down to the level of weaker national sides.
@nije bitno
We will draw France or Sweden. But I hope you’re right.
any predictions on the draw? I know we all want Iceland but what are your gut feelings?
I’m feeling Romania
Hvala majstore.
It’ will be this coming Monday.
Game should be in Zagreb. We have a new coach who is Croatian and from the diaspora. I love it. Great player who hopefully will make an impact as a coach. Another one who is new and will learn on the job but it is what it is.
No more excuses from the players. Most of them need to pick it up and play with some passion just like the Kovac brothers did.
Does anyone know when the draw will be for the playoff? I heard three different dates!
You are forgetting one thing, you cut the head b4 the hand.
; )
One step closer to what’s needed, now the axe needs to fall on the puppet, and then we will be on the right path.
Looks like Niko is bringing his whole staff from the U21 team. Not just his brother Robert.
Niko Kovač će A reprezentaciji priključiti čitavi stožer iz U-21 selekcije u kojoj je do danas bio izbornik.
http://www.vecernji.hr/sport/vijesti/brat-robert-niko-ima-samo-jedan-cilj-plasman-brazil-clanak-628433
@ Hajduk_MTL – good comment dude, I agree with most of what you said. structure is a necessity on a team that desires any success, everyone has a role and MUST understand their role regardless of whether they like it or not!
I think Zagreb will be fine and the stadium will be packed now. Kovac is what the public wanted and they will show up, support and once again be the 12th man Croatia always had.
I think the savez has already come out saying the playoff will be in Zagreb. I wouldn’t be opposed to having it in Split.
BUT … What happens if they schedule the game for Split and there is a torrential downpour leading up to the game? Exactly. Split is a no go.
Niko Kovac’s short-term must do:
Visit (or at least talk to) every player in the greater 30 man roster. Explain to them what you intend to do, what you expect from them and how it will work. Organize them, galvanize them and motivate them. And keep the channel of communication open until you select your 23 man roster. Prepare them psychologically, because as things stand they seem very brittle.
Watch as many games your players play for their clubs – know their current form, fitness, etc..
Study every game your playoff opponent has played in this qualification cycle – know them inside and out. Prepare the team for the potential set pieces, who shoots penalties where, etc…. Preparation, preparation, preparation.
Be the face of Croatian soccer – don’t make bombastic statements, but let the public know you are cautiously confident and working in a professional, transparent way. Bottom line, don’t be afraid, own the victory.
HNS Savez’s short-term must do:
Pick the right venue – I’m leaning toward Poljud (depending on the grass) because with the right crowd that place is as imposing as any in Europe.
Keep Suker (and Mamic) out of the press or spotlight. No one likes them, let Niko be the face of the team.
Run a sleek campaign to raise the support around the team (but keep the leadership out of sight) – I’d put together a montage of Croatia’s greatest footballing moments and run that loop ad nuseum until the whole country is primed for the games.
Run a guerrilla marketing campaign – put up a ton of youtube videos, twitter feeds, etc….
Get the likes of Boban, Prosinecki, Ivanisevic, Kukoc, Balic, etc.. to do ad campaigns – saying something like “I know where I’ll be on the 15th and 19th of November – watching/supporting Croatia”
And finally, pray for victory!
@nije…….I don’t even pay attention to anything HAET posts anymore. I just glance over it.
I was discussing the following over breakfast with Mama Istina and her man toy this morning………what if kovac fails and we don’t make it to Brazil. Will that be enough for Pupper Suker to be removed. Personally, I doubt it. We would have to fail at Euro 2016 qualifying for Puppet Suker to be removed. The blame here will fall on Stimac. He will serve as the scapegoat.
Surprised that Kovač agreed to try and clean up this mess.
The good news in all this is that he’s in a good bargaining position, where nobody can tell him what to do and who to play. If he somehow manages to get us through to the World Cup, nobody can touch him moving forward. If they try, Kovač is a no-nonsense guy and would step down and the public would riot again.
I’m really hoping things pan out for Kovač. I hope he goes German on our players.
For those of you that read croatian you have to read Ciro’s reaction. He always gets an A+ lol
http://www.24sata.hr/nogomet/ciro-ja-sam-trebao-biti-izbornik-ali-mamic-je-htio-niku-336979
The diaspora never disappoints.
We’ll see how much control Kovac has with the team. When the playoffs arrive next month lets see if Halilovic is called up. Because, if he is called up, that means Kovac doesn’t have control over the players. Unless Halilovic plays lights out for the next three weeks with Dinamo, he should not be called up……and if that were to happen, I’m sure the BiH savez and some of their players will get into his ear…..which is fine by me.
Slavonac from Canada – good post!
Ziva – have nothing against the Martin Luther King Jr. comment but you may have just pissed off HAET haha
Can we now say we hired a foreign coach to lead HNS?
; )
Diaspora to the rescue again. Won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last.
Also they should just change it from HNS to LNS (Livanjski Nogometni Savez now with Suker and Kovac bros at the helm).
I’m just thrilled that a week ago I was typing that the best thing for us would be to lose to Belgium and be humiliated in Scotland, which would leave to Stimac’s removal……..fast forward a week and here we are.
Martin Luther King Jr. was right……..you can dream and dreams can come true.
Good luck to Niko Kovac. He has my support (for now).
Here is the funny part……Niko Kovac made his debut for the repka as a sub coming in for Stimac. You can’t make this stuff up.
What am I waiting for next?????? I can’t wait for Stimac’s first post-firing interview.
Now, how do we get rid of Puppet Suker and Mamic. That is the next step to fix the situation.
Don’t give up!!!
– the ghost of Franjo Wölfl
Who says we can’t beat France? The Serbs beat them out in 2010 WC group and they stole that playoff game aganist Ireland. We need the defense tactics to put us through.
@Dalmo Ante
Good post on Cico Kranjcar. I am surprised why people were all over him for the NT coach. He is done and in my opinion was an awful coach during the 2006 world cup. Glad he is not back.
Niko Kovac is the best option at the moment. Hope he can change it quickly and succeeds.
My 2 cents!
To those here that say we are not a top 10 team and that the ranking system is a farce…you don’t understand much about a ranking system or soccer. Being in the top 10 means you are being consistent, it means you don’t lose to weaker teams…TWICE…it means you don’t have an unnecessary “kiks” because you aren’t prepared and organized, it means you’ve consistently competed and performed and provided good results against weaker and better temas, thats what it means! Bilic played that system well and he was intelligent enough to realize that the more consistent you play the better opportunities you have to be grouped against teams that are more inconsistent…a reward for being consistent!
I’m not sure how Kovac and his brother will be as coaches but if they bring in order, discipline and a system then we are automatically better than Stimac, the rest is up to their creativity, knowledge, tactics and preparation!
It wasn’t that long ago that we battled hard with Spain and Italy…we were credible…always the underdog but respected, today we are a joke…disorganized and look exactly like a Balkan team that has political challenges and are imploding…this is what really bothers me more than anything, one idiot has changed the whole perception of our team because he wasn’t qualified to manage a sock drawer nevermind a National Team!
Lets hope things turn around and we start to play for the Grb!
Our captain is back, really leading the repka now. Lets hope he does just a good of job leading it from the sideline as he did on the pitch.
@ the truth
Learn to write then come back…I’ll call you ‘the sranje’
Bjorn Borg – Niko’s brother Robert has already came out and said he was going to be an assistant. As for the rest of the staff, we don’t know yet.
I think this is good for our repka long term. Niko has potential to be there longer than Bilic was if Suker and Mamic layoff and let him do his thing. If they get really political he will bail cause that’s not his style.
@The truth
How would you know who has played a team sport on an anonymous chat board smart guy?
You guys are all a bunch of dweebs , you guys don’t even play sports but you guys think you can criticize a team sport. most of you guys never even played a sport and some of you think you can coach gtfoh and be regular humans live and watch don’t speak ..
I don’t know about this hiring. He’s only had 4-5 matches with the U21 team, still inexperienced, could be out of his depth. I liked that he was coaching the young and getting experience at that level regarding being able to game plan and get a tactical system setup for the team. There was no pressure on him at that level. Now he is thrown into the fire.
It’s “temporary” so we’ll see what happens. At least it should improve the morale of the team as a whole as a change was needed. Hope it works.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a veteran assistant join the staff to help out as well. Have the current staff been retained besides Stimac?
I’m actually away vacationing and missed the game and all the drama afterwards! All I have to say is that this loss turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It was clear the players didn’t believe in Stimac. I personally think you MUST have someone at the helm who is respected. Kovac has that respect. Short term and barring a France matchup (or maybe Sweden) we should get enough of a lift to take us through.
On a funny note, I’m in Paris now and we hit this shopping mall. They had Christian Karembeu there signing autographs …reminded me of the great run in 98′ and the pain of losing in the semi’s.
@ nije
couldn’t agree with you more… this shit has got me depressed with the loses, Stico & Co., but this qualifying campaign sort of reminds me of the leadup to 98′.
We snuck into the playoffs. We squeaked by Ukraine and made it to France … and the rest is history. Now yes, completely different situation, players, no Mamic/Stico/Puppet Suker in play…
but I think this team needs a serious shot in the arm and Niko I think is the man for the job. While he might be lacking in the way of being a brilliant tactician – the talent is there; we have guys playing in all the big leagues at pretty prestigious clubs (Real, Sevilla, Inter, Wolfsburg, etc.) and Croatian powerhouses Hajduk, Dinamo and Rijeka.
I like this now; if we make it to Brazil – after this debacle of a qualifying campaign, people will expect ZERO from us – so with some solid talent, which we have and a coach who could light a fire under the guys – who knows?
I’ve been saying that if the Savez lets go of Stimac, Niko would be the next coach. Savez wants the public back and this is what the public wanted.
He personally was my second choice and I’m happy for him. He may have the upper hand over any other coach at the moment anyway. He’s played with half the players on the team, therefor he knows them already (how they live and breath on the pitch and in practice) and also he’s coached the majority of the younger players on the U21 team, therefor he knows them pretty well too. Tough guy that nobody will mess with hence (Livaja).
I’m going to make an honest prediction (no homer glasses just pure feeling) we will be in Brazil next summer with this man. Players will show up to play for him, themselves and Hrvatska.
@HAET
You clearly have the IQ of a small furry animal….go fuck yourself once and for all.
@olly……..Are you serious?????? what can Puppet Suker teach our forwards?????? Just because someone was a great player doesn’t mean he can coach. This isn’t osmosis where our forwards will get better by standing next to a washed up crook. Besides, Puppet Suker doesn’t want to coach. He is using the savez for his own personal interests. Puppet Suker’s ultimate goal is to be placed on the FIFA executive board. Zvone Boban wants nothing to do with the savez if the likes of Mamic and Puppet Suker are involved. Why do people have such a hard time understanding that. Boban has been approached a number of times to have some role within the savez and he refuses every single time. There isa reason for that.
Now, it all depends on the draw. If we get France, we have a 5% chance of advancing, 20% against Sweden and 50% against Romania and we would be slight favorites against Iceland.
I like the choice of Kovac……but, don’t think we can change things right away because he is the new coach. I think he is an emotional spark that can have us playing well for a two game stretch (playofs) and then if we get in, he will have 7 months to get the team ready to his standards through lineups and formations.
Too bad Igor Tudor is not playing anymore. I would have loved to see him take orders from Kovac as his coach. That would have been entertainment.
NIKO looks like he is chinese. I don’t want him.
Go Niko and his leather head bands.
I agree, this is by far one of the best choices we had!!!
Dare I say that we now have a real chance in the playoffs???
@Adame I agree with you sto posto….
Niko was an excellent choice at this stage. He has done very well with the U21 group, knows the senior team players, was a wrok-horse bar none as a player, has that German mentalitet and discipline and finally will not suffer fools lightly.
Svaka ti cast Niko i puno srece….admire his jajce for taking the job in such a difficult circumstance but expect he did it because he loves that shirt so very much.
He will no doubt weed out those who don’t share his dedication, quickly.
First everyone wanted Kovac. Now that he is in everyone is shit talking him. Ive never met such a group of pessimists and babies before.
Kovac named temporary Croatia manager
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/kovac-named-temporary-croatia-manager
.
Al that is needed is the the will. The will to triumph.
Fuck those pommy wankers, never feel ashamed to be a Hrvat, the poms have been free to compete in all competitions and basically have Kurac all to show for it, one rigged WC
Suker was magical footballer, so was Prosinecki, so was Asanovic and so was Boban. Regardless what you think of Suker as a person you cant say this guy has nothing to teach Croatia’s forwards. You cant say Kovacic would not learn from Asanovic if he was part of the coaching team. I’m not saying Boban etc are the answer but there are many people with things to teach who need to get there heads together and work something out to form a reliable coaching staff for the national team. I believe the players are there. They are just not organised.
Stimac has been a problem for a long time. He has always been a thorn in the side of Bilic etc and wanted to have a big role. Best thing for Stimac would be to return to Derby County and just leave Croatia for a bit. The guy was chasing a big role for a long time and he’s failed.
@elcroato – Blazevic is now almost 80 and couldn’t even keep NK Zagreb in the prva liga last year. Personally I’d take Kovac over one of the ghosts from our past any day of the week, even with his marginal experience so far.
It’s a win/ win situation for Kovac, anyway. If we lose in the playoffs everyone will still blame Stimac and our friend Suker for having destroyed the team and that it was too late to turn things around for Niko. If we win then Kovac can claim the credit and would be well placed to start making demands for how to change things over the next 2 – 3 years.
Seeds who cares? We lose to teams that have never been seeded in their lives. Seedings mean nothing.
We once dreamed of being first seeds for Brazil. If we get through the play-off we will be THIRD seeds. Sigh.
I am so ashamed all my English friends laughed at me yesterday.
Not all bad news…….I just read that BiH will be above Cro in the FIFA rankings. Which means I won my lucrative bet. So, the good continues for me. I win a nice bet and Stimac is out within 24 hours……NICE!!!
If the man can instill in them to play with heart like he did and motivate them thats what we need and from the sound of things with the U21 he is tactically sound, did his apprenticeship at Salzburg first with the reserves and then as senior assistant and was prolly unlucky to miss out on the senior role there.
We have a lot of talent and he has had eyes on the young talent now that will be coming in to the team, much like Bilic did back in 06, and lets not forget he is from the german school of football. I suspect we will have a much better drilled and more disciplined team.
Cico’s problem in 06 was the he neglected the up and coming talent i.e. Carli, Modric, Dudu etc mainly because he wanted Niko his son to shine, which wasn’t needed Niko was capable of proving himself. Bilic came in and immediately moved in the younger players and rejuvenated the list, his downfall was believing his own hype and persisting with Pranjic at LB where we leaked goals constantly. One thing i will never forgive Bilic is giving himself a 5/5 for his time with the NT, that was deplorable.
I was willing to give majmun a chance because i figured the wanker would see coaching the NT as a chance to take some of the stink off his name, instead he decided to just prove he is a pokvarenjak. I think Niko will be a breath of fresh air, which isnt hard to be given he is replacing a shitstain 😀
first, this roster will stay pretty much the same for the playoff round. Kovac will only have 4 practice sessions before the first playoff game. Not enough time to really do much. So, don’t expect much in changing personal. What we have to hope is that he can give the team an emotional lift. is this the kick in the ass they need?
For Kovac’s sake, i hope he demanded a contract that takes him through Euro 2016 qualifying and not just these two games. Because he is an uphill battle.
the negative about this pick…….Kovac has no resume or experience that warrants a coaching gig like this, but this is the hole the savez has dug itself into.
now, lets look at what needs to happen for Suker to leave…..failing in the playoff round puts the process in motion for his ouster. not sure it would guarentee his exit, but dont forget Suker is even less qualified to be head of the savez than Strucnjak Stimac was as coach.
Maybe an experienced vet like Blazevic would have been a good interim solution to get us through the play offs.
Kovac = bullshit
What the fuks modric and co. Gonna learn from
him. Experience is needed not experimentation.
I highly doubt Kovac sold out, but if he did we’ll see it when he puts together the roster.
Time to move on to what we all hope will be a brighter future. As a first time poster here i would just like to say you all do fine work here, keep it up.
As far as Niko’s appointment i think it will be a step in the right direction so far we have had a monkey at the helm of a ship which has a lot of talent, it’s not all doom and gloom. I’d suspect a guy like Niko would have made it clear it is his team to run and that all the people with their hands in various pockets can get fucked. Niko is a footballer whereas Igor is more suited to standing over people for a quid.
Now it is time to remind the world of who we are, the Vatreni will fire up again, or at least Mamic/Suker can pay our fucking tabs at the local and our shrinks if we are so inclined 🙂
kovac comes with an incredibly unproven track record and lots of questions. the positive seems to be that his character is much more respected than stimac. even if the tactics kovac brings are not world class, it seems a new lead voice on thea team was needed
Niko Kovac = great choice in the circumstances given his work for the U-21s and how he brought all our players together as team captain. He’s also a diaspora Croat so hopefully won’t have the same HNS mafia issues as baggage, unlike Stimac.
At least this whole will they/ won’t they sack Stimac saga is finally behind us now, it was all getting so boring…
Niko Kovac has just been announced as the new coach
http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/nogomet/reprezentacije/gledaj-uzivo-odluka-hns-a-stimac-odlazi-a-tko-dolazi—307256.html
Live presser
Did anyone else notice how Modric was persistently fouled and even when off the ball?
Win or lose Scotland is a bunch of hacks.
@ Imocan.
Dobro idea putting Lovren as DM. He has the skill and athletic presence to do it and will keep him above that penalty box. He can make some runs too when it opens up and unleash his striking ability.
Nothing like a drama filled qualifying campaign.
Coach and draw?
You can’t make this sranje up!
Put Jarni on the staff he will have has fit and fast and would support the left sided players.
@ Svi Hrvati.
We have more talent pumping through the pipe line then ever in the modern history of Hrvatska. We are on the rise and Stimac and his glavanja have been a speed bump.
Uvijek Vjerni.
Sorry but Kovacic, Modric, Rakitic and Kranjcar are not useless. If you can’t make use of creativity like that and with players like Perisic, Ilicevic and young guys like Caktas, Brozovic coming through then theres something wrong. Its not a players problem.
Strikers Jelavic and Mandzo. Eduardo, Kalinic and Olic are good for bit parts. Rebic, Livaja, Perica are all coming through. Santini is bang on form too at the minute. There is players that can be used who other countries would make more use of if they had them.
I saw Lovren yesterday and he looked good as a defender. We have to form a defensive partnership though. The team changes every match. Vida was all over the place yesterday and that sort of performance aint good enough. Srna played poor as well. Kranjcar put the ball on a plate for him several times and he gave a dud cross. Rakitic needs to wake up too as he’s better than this.
Kovacic needs a mentor. Thats where having Asanovic and Prosinecki involved in the past was useful.
I think Prosinecki and Zlatko Kranjcar have finally found contentment in there career as coaches in Turkey and Iran. I don’t think Cico can take the pressure. I don’t think Prosinecki needs to come.
I believe Boban is a football man and would help Croatia by doing some coaching is someone asked him just like Alen Boksic is but i dont think he will want to be involved in any other way. I don’t think Boban will come.
Stimac somehow cause disarray in the team. He said he took the team in a bad way. Er no he didn’t. Slaven Bilic was struggling but he got it together at the last tournament and left with credibility. I think Slaven Bilic is suited to international football not club football. At club level he is somewhat mediocre. But for the national team he does show passion.
Niko Kovac has shown so far in Austria and in Croatia he can do good work with young players. Not sure what he will be like with senior players.
The national team is decent i think. I think Jelavic and Mandzo needs to be restored to the front line. The players below them should only get in if they do something brilliant. Olic and Eduardo are only good as subs these days. Kalinic is only good as a sub. The national team needs to be developed now and to bring through next generation. Every coach from Blazevic, Jozic, Baric, Kranjcar, Bilic improved the team in some way and left a mark. I cannot see what Stimac has done to improve on Bilic. And before anyone says Jozic did nothing – he has to be solely credited for developing a strong defence once Stimac and Bilic retired. You have to credit him with that as without that defence Bilic could not build his Euro 2008 team.
If i was Davor Suker i would personally say I am the boss fuck this HNS crap – and try and prove something as a coach in these next two games and get some good assistants to help him. Really he’s prime position to say i’ll talk it over. He certainly needs to get out on the pitch and do some coaching cos this strikeforce can score goals and we have playmakers but they don’t look hungry.
Well, it’s depressing.
Given our recent form we won’t stand a chance against France but i also dont think we could beat romania or sweden and probably not even iceland either.
Pains me to say it but th eunseeded countries are prolly HOPING they draw us since we are really vulnerable right now.. this is surely the low point
Yes, we lost. To Scotland twice, and to Belgium. But we’re still (ridiculously enough given our current form where we’d struggle to beat the San Marino under 12s B team with a 3 goal head start and 2 of their players sent off) in the playoffs and assuming we don’t draw France and we get a decent new coaching team on board, we might still get to Brazil next year and have every chance of a decent run in the world cup.
Let’s be honest with ourselves – we were never really the world’s number 4 or 5 best team which the crazy FIFA rankings claimed we were, earlier this year. Belgium probably now fall into that category, and Scotland aren’t actually that bad a team. They have solid middle tier premier league players, and an under rated coach in Strachan who has got the team behind him – something Croatia really could do with right now. They’re likely to qualify for the next Euros in 2016, and so will Serbia and Belgium.
We have got to stop thinking we have some sort of God given automatic right to crush teams who rank below us in the FIFA world rankings just by turning up, and to get into every world cup and Euro finals tournament just because we are Croatia. These days we’re called arogantna hrvatska by other countries and their football writers, and sad to say they’re correct.
Finally – please can we create a special prize for The Most Cynical and Negative Croatian on the Planet, in Ziva Istina. Nobody else even comes close.
Otto Baric? Same Otto Baric that put Mornar on the national team? Lmao.
Jutarni List Poll taken from 1200 people in Cro
60% want Kranjcar as the replacement
13% want Kovac
The other 2 jobbers I’ve never heard of. Jarni as coach is bullshit again. What and who has he ever coached? What a disaster!
I agree with the majority, Kranjcar should take over.
Get Alex Ferguson
Fuck these backward corrupt wogs
Otto Baric javi se
Turns out Mishko might be on to something…
I did my own research on Pranjic, and he’s now the starting LM/LW for Panathinkos. Seems like he’s doing well there.
He’s naturally left footed and can put good crosses in. He can also track back and defend. Pranjic is our best option on the left.
Toronto Cro
You have summed up Ziva perfectly.
Negative Ziva.
A glass half empty person
and wow brozovic 6 goals in 4 games for the u21’s
@mishko he retired because of stimac choosing sammir, so maybe he can return with the new coach
@Imocan, I’ve been saying the same thing about Pranjic for almost a year.
They are in talks right now with Niko Kovac. I’m hoping he doesn’t become Mamic’s puppet.
Stimac was calling up players such as Halilovic, just so he could be showcased for a better transfer fee. It’s clear that Alen is not good enough for repka and should stay in U-17–where he belongs.

all the rumors point towards robert jarni is the new coach, but then again hes tight with mamic and its all mafia related there running the show there but hopefully we make it, thats the word from back home
…………Mandza-Rebic
..Pranjic-Rakitic-Modric-Srna
……………Lovren……………
….Jedvaj-Simunic-Corluka
…………..Pletikosa…………..
lovren is talented enough to take the position, maybe even jedvaj could do it
have u guys ever thought of playing lovren as defensive mid, like wat tudor was able to do before?
can we persuade pranjic to come back???
with 3 at the back, pranjic and srna are ideal wing backs/outside mids
What exactly is Mamics official position within the HNS?
Finally ! Finally the Players have had Enough of this Mamic/dinamo Crap in the HNS ! They just Stopped Careing , because of all the Trouble Mamic/dinamo Causes !! I Told U -Nothing but Trouble !! The Top 4 Teams in the HNL can play Better then these Guys Lately ! Too Bad the HNS does not have a Good coach like Hajduk’s Tudor ! Also Thank U Guys for the Votes for Coach !! I am Honnored !! Now i must go , & drown My Sorrows ! It has to get Better ! I Pray ! It Can’t get Much Worst, Can It ? I Hope & Pray it does not !! Tudor 4 Coach of the Year !! Hajduk , i Torcida 4 Life !! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Champion L.A. Galaxy , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
How about Stjepan Tomas? – haha

If Mamic has any sense of humor, tomorrow orning he should invite the media to the savez HQ and have white smoke merging from the chimney and at the same time introduce Jurcic as the new coach………
on a more serious note…..lets assume Strucnjak Stimac is gone and spot is offered to Kovac. If I were Kovac, I would refuse the job.
This team is shit and crouching is awful I hope we get France and lose 4. 1
i still don’t believe it…….if true, I’ll be the first to apologize and give you credit. But, right now there is no way I can see them hiring someone who has less credentials than Stimac. Shit, why not hire Vlaovic or Silvio Maric.
not a joke Robert Jarni is the new coach, vidit ces sutra
@nomajstorija…..not sure if you are serious or not. But Jarni would be a joke if hired. His resume is about as bad as Stimac’s resume.
Nobody can ever accuse the US of not going by FIFA’s Fair Play sranje……
@ Toronto Croatia………Easy, I am a true fan. A big one at that. Let me reply to some of your comments……
Yes, I did encourage a boycott of Stimac-led national teams. Guess what, it worked. Stimac had to answers questions from media outside of Cro as to why our fans would no-show for a must win game at home. Well done by our fans showing their “love” to the savez.
Yes, I did say the best way to change things os for us to lose and lose ugly. Guess what, they may have worked as well. I told you we need some short term pain for long term gain.
Not true, I do want Cro in major tourneys. I want them there so I can watch their first three games in the group phase before they crash out.
Yes, I do make fun of grown adults wearing the last name of a person they have never met on their own back. Why someone would glorify a stranger on tehir own body is a mystery.
And yes, I do make fun of grown adults complaining about Cro not being in a video game. Again, a complete mystery to me why grown men play video games. But, to each, his own.
Yes, I do insult the stadiums where our repka plays…..Should I congratulate them for playing in such dumps.
And yes, I do have fun with some players. So what. Don’t you read Deadspin or The Big Lead. Its called sarcasm. You aren’t Kranjcar’s cousin, are you???
Yes, I do make fun of afterschool organized fight club. But, I enjoy watching it. I’m still waiting to see the first guy die or become paralyzed in the ring. I mean, that is the only reason I watch. I want to see blood and death. But, I never said they had no talent. It takes talent to go into an organized after school fight club match and get your head bashed in for a few thousand dollars.
@ Ivica – true, like Ziva mentions, who wants to be under Suker/Mamic?
Don’t know the personalities or dynamics of the possible candidates. Is there anyone strong enough to push Mamic away from the scene or is this basically a puppet assembly line until Mamic removes himself?
How ironic that in a game that meant nothing to our qualifying might mean so much to our future? Stimac needed the game for himself, but, it made more sense to play conservatively, not get hurt and not get yellows.
A perfect scenario for Ziva’s “short-term pain, for long-term growth” might have just unfolded.
i have a source in Croatia that tells me its official the new boss is Robert Jarni
By the way, when you look at the latest Fifa rankings–Croatia will have taken a major nose dive. We almost became an unseeded team.
@Ziva
I do like you most of the time. You seem fairly intelligent and you do know the game, particularly our Savez, however with all due respect, I’m sure we’d come to blows if we ever watched a game together. I just find it hard to believe you’re as big a fan as you claim. Anyone that can just brush shit off and laugh it off as quickly as you do is not a “fanatic.”
You’re a religious man. You should have a little more faith if you claim to love this team so much.
Fuck, so help me god if we don’t qualify and there’s some yippy little twat laughing at whats become of us!
Heartbreak in Panama – couldn’t protect a 2-1 lead in extra time and lose out. Mexico was all but eliminated – should have seen them on the bench when they heard USA scored to save them.
USA scores twice in extra rime – Mexico back in!
@Bobby V
Not a good time to be a Croatian coach…
oops, looks like USA just saved Mexico’s arse as I am typing this
Ivan Gudelj should take over as coach. I mean he would still be coaching a bunch of children. 🙂
Besides he has experience qualifying for a World Cup. 🙂
If Stimac is the coach for the playoffs, we won’t qualify. Srna and other key players should be pressuring Suker to fire Stimac.
You should really watch some Real Madrid games
Unbelievable drama – Panama just scored – Mexico minutes away from being eliminated!
Well smart guys and maybe gals….it is pretty simple…Stimac stinks. He has a crop of players with better than average talent, he has been out coach by the Scotts twice who have below average talent. The formation he plays does not effectively utilize the talent he has. If any of you have half a brian you would have seen long ago this team has played disjointed in every match since the end of Euro 2012..beginning with friendly against Switzerland in Poljud…I have watched every game and can tell you all the truth about how shit he is. He was a defensive player in his day, he thinks defence. Just like Bilic, but perhaps more so. For instance, why in Godsearth would Modric play so far back? He is setting up plays from his own half a majority of the time. Does that make sense when you are pressing for goals? Modric is our most talented player, he needs to be more forward to setup a guy like Jelavic or Manzuk….similiar to what Robin does for Bayren Munich
@ ziva
it looks like things panned out like you had hoped for….back on board hoping for a world cup qualification now?
stimac offering a resignation is not honorable. he was going to be fired. you know how this works
Take it easy Ziva. Not everyone on this board is a homer that you needs your assistance in seeing the light.
Besides, you didn’t call shit.
You never make any firm predictions, and put out statements with qualifiers in them that ensures you cover all your bases. Then when your constant pessimism is finally validated, you’ve somehow made this genius prediction, lol.
The only homer here is you for thinking that all of Stimac, Suker, and Mamic would be removed if fans didn’t show up to games in Zagreb or if anything short of not qualifying for the World Cup would have Stimac removed.
Yea, you’re probably right that Stimac’s resignation will not be accepted. All some pre-planned nonsense where it makes Stimac look like a big man in attempting to step down, gaining some respect, and Suker insisting that he finish what he started. These are typical tactics, not some ingenius strategy. I’m just hoping that Mamic has a bad day and gets into a heated argument with Stimac, or if someone (that everyone in the media really likes) jumps at the chance to coach the team in its current state. That’s really the only way Suker accepts his resignation.
Ziva there was a time when I thought of giving the benefit of the doubt in thinking “maybe you are a real fan”……but from what I’ve seen…..if you even are a fan at all……you’re not a very good one.
Really you’re just a negative moron.
Lets see your track record of being a “real fan”.
– You basically encourage boycotts and fans not to show up to National team games.
– You (in your own words) “HOPE” to see Croatia get blown away by massive margins in games.
– You dont mind not seeing Croatia make it to big tournaments (which pretty much breaks the heart of any TRUE fan)
– You make fun of people on here for wearing jerseys of their favourite Croatian players.
– You make fun of others on here who get pissed that Croatia is not in games like FIFA.
– You insult the stadiums the national team plays in.
– You insult Croatian players…saying they have STD’s or Kranjcar scores a goal for us in the Belgium game and your response is….”he’ll celebrate by eating big macs”
geez, what else…
– Croatians who might be doing well in the UFC you discredit saying they have no talent and are doing “back yard fighting”
What kind of stupid fuckin fan are you? If I didnt know better Id actually think you’re an undercover Serb or something
You’re not a national team fan……you’re just a pessimistic idiot who loves to point out anything negative thats going on.
actually, my chicken shit life is quite good. How is your chicken shit life. Again, people blaming the messenger for giving you the message before everybody knew about it.
right, I’m not a real fan?????
Please…..I am a disgusted fan who has watched the national side turned into a personal playground for a limited number of people within Cro soccer. I want the scum removed from cro soccer and I get questioned for not being a fan. Brother, nobody gives more of a shit than I do. I’m not here trying to say I’m some big hrvat and I’m not trying to say I am better than any of you. But, I firmly believe that I look at things without the homer glasses on and what I have watched the last few years with the behind the scenes moves within Cro soccer have disgusted me. I’m a true fan because I want the scum gone. What is so hard to understand about any of that. Nobody needed a crystal ball to see what was going to happen. And in case you did need it, I was right here for you. I’ll say it again. We need short term pain for long term growth and success.
I see Boban was mentioned……Boban is the smartest guy because he wants nothing to do with any of these idiots. Boban probably thinks in the very same way I do. There is a reason the smart guys from the 98 generation want nothing to do with the Mamic, the Puppet Suker and Strucnjak Stimac types of the world. People like Boban, Simic and Stanic stay clear of these idiots.
remember this…..just because Stimac said he is giving his resignation to the board, that doesn’t mean it will be accepted. This is a typical Balkan move done in sports, politics and business in the former yugo. Next move is with Suker and that is assuming none of the was planned in advance.
New rankings Thursday, draw on Monday and the games on the 15th and 19th of November?
ziva istina is a cetnik.
Yup, Stimac offers resignation.
http://gh.soccerway.com/news/2013/October/16/stimac-offers-croatia-resignation/n242456/
Rukovic and Ziva, you guys find this shit funny because you are NOT real fans!
You two would rather be right at any cost than show an requited love for something. Thats not what real sports fans do. You’d probably treat your families the same way too!
Good luck with your chicken shit lives!
Absolutely Beautiful Football were playing at the moment, Bravo Decki.. Za narod Svoj..
Budale !!!! i Stimac ti idi pusi Sukerov Kurac da mozes spasit se..
if Stimac stays on say good bye to any chance of qualifying, & if he goe’s it’s still going to be tough, Niko won’t have much time to groom the team into playing the way he want’s, but sometimes a new coach can inject a shit load of motivation & confidence instantly
fuck me this is getting embarrassing..
what’s with the uniforms we wore ? half one and half the other ??
so we made the playoffs, did we ??
The chicken shit HNS mafia don’t want to spend money on a real foreign coach. Those crooks want the money for themselves. It’s proven that Hrvat coaches are worthless. They can’t even play the sport to begin with so how the fuck can they coach?
Holy crap.
Stimac offers Croatia resignation
Can someone validate this?
http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/285045,stimac-offers-croatia-resignation.aspx
It’s just so funny to sit back and watch this fiasco unfold
All the stimac apologists , and cock eyed optimists are now cynical pessimists.
Funny how that happens.
When in reality the writing was on the wall long ago.
I’m sick of players with next to no coaching experience being in charge of this team! First Bilic, then Stimac, now people want Robi, or Niko Kovac. How about someone thats more than 15 years removed from being a player on the team?! How about Srecko Jurcic or Kek from Rijeka? Kek may be Slovenian but Rijeka are currently the only thing related to Croatian football to be proud of. At this point I’d have no qualms about a foreigner coaching us.
Ding dong the witch is dead.
Thank f ‘n God what a bloody disgrace! Stimac has made a joke of our entire nation. Nobody right now could be worse.
It’s painful to see all the Bosanci celebrating while we’re sitting here praying we draw Iceland.
Whatever happened to Boban? I say that because I loved his patriotism. Coincidence that he’s not around the savez these days?
Death to Mamic.
And death to all of those red partizani bastards that have infiltrated every inch of Croatian politics. It’s no wonder Zvonko Busic took his own life.
One of the positive things I saw in this match was Pletikosa blocking the penalty in the first place.. A shame our players were lazy and left him hanging to get scored on but it only contributed to the outing of Stimac so I’m happy with it
Bobby V you speak the truth. The fact Croatia never fully uilized Tomislav Ivic is a disgrace – arguably one of the top European coaches of all time.
If Suker does not accept Stimac’s resignation, both should be kicked out if Croatia does not qualify for WorldCup.
Cico Kranjcar was always an offensive-oriented coach, and you have to credit him for bringing back that beautiful style of play (after the years of defensive play from Jozic and Baric).
Cico would probably fix our scoring problems. Not sure if he’s a long term solution, but then again, who is?
@Matesic-He did have a decent run,but the question for DP was meant in a political sense, does this count against him??I think under the circumstances of much of todays discussions that this is a fair question.
Stari Kranjcar led us to the WC with an average Cro team.
I think he could do wonders with thia line up.
Bilic on a temp basis could be my first choice followed by Kranjcar.
Seems Ziva has called it correctly again. Will see. I guess taking the emotion out of it worked for him.
Cico did have a great run with crna gora.
And if Srna makes penalty against Japan then he would have lead us to the second round in 2006.
Either him or Kovac could take us through.
@ Ziva
If Stimac resigns then you called this one well in advance. The basement goggles have served you well with this one.
@Doktor Prle-Serious question,Kranjcar has recently coached Montenegro, does this count against him??
Who’s done better at major tournaments than Cico Kranjcar, save for Ciro Blazevic and Bilic? Bilic made a knock-out phase once. Once. Kranjcar did no worse or better than the rest.
PS: Those of us that are informed, and actually know what the fuck is going on in many parts of the world, are prepared to leave this site.
There’s no need to leave anonymous comments. I’ve noticed it’s a rather frequent occurrence here. There’s practically no support for your comments, so you have to revert to supporting yourself under a guise.
Bunch of fucking pussies. Good riddance.
It seems the battle is on for who is the biggest and truest Croat on the site! Not surprising considering what has happened.
For what its worth,my vote for the most Veliki Hrvati goes to Kvartuc and Svircic. They don’t bang continually on their chest and have actually done something big to” Unite Croats around the world”Now back to punching on boys……..
Stimac is a stupid cunt. This whole team is shit too.
Bobby V, bang on brate. All this political nonsense these fans get into on this site is disgusting. I used to frequent this site for information and updates about our players around Europe & the national team. Now I pretty much never come here because of the drivel they preach.
Come on be realistic about cico Kranjcar. 2006 World Cup was a disaster. They did not renew his contract for a reason.
Some of you disguise your serbophilia with anti-hate diatribes and “liberal” memes. You’re not fooling anybody.
No foreign coaches, and no Prosinecki. Cico Kranjcar did a damn fine job as Croatia’s coach, lest you forget. Tomislav Ivic isn’t the only one that can stake that claim.
And Ciro Blazevic won the bronze in ’98, so let’s be a little more realistic.
Ante B you know your Croatian and your passion shows in every post. No need to deal with this jugo scum that cries for Tito. Yes you get attacked but remember the source and even this site has a fair amount of that jugo trash.
Bog I Hrvati.
Some of us want a foreign coach to possibly keep Mamic away from the Repka again, and, quite frankly, other than Tomislav Ivic, our coaches have sucked. We don’t want him as president of Croatia, so, relax.
It’s a shame that a few posters here hijack the site to promote hate and intolerance disguised as actually giving a shit about what’s good for our National team.
…and I’ve noticed that other posters who want to talk soccer will shy away from the site when you guys start up. You can take your crayon-made U armbands off now. You can do it – I did.
Saw that during the match. Perhaps Modric is designated to tip off Plete. Who knows. Maybe just chance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYFYyP3lezc
check out Modric pointing which way the penalty goes… you can see best from the angle from midfield.
lucky? or he has a skill?
Then check out the arguing after the goal… hahahahahaha… at least there was SOME emotion
Nije Bitno,
Didn’t call you a red head. I said the ZG is not a Croatian city statement was red head.
Q
@ Laku Noc… good thinking there, nothing like a man thinking “inside the box” 🙂 love it.
One Kranjcar is playing more regularly, another might be coach soon, and Allen-Outraged is back! Dare I say it, things are getting better boys!
If Zlatko Kranjcar came back, I would be so happy. He had a great run with Montenegro, unfairly was sacked. Deserves another shot.
Also Niko would be motivated and limit himself to one big mac a week.
My vote for next coach is Tihana Nemcic
got this from the Torcida website…….anyone disagree????
Najžalosnije od svega je šta tek večeras Hrvatski narod jebe mater Štimcu. U normalnoj državi taj čovik bi moga jedino u zatvor, a on dobije izborničku funkciju pete reprezentacije svijeta.
HNS PEDERI, NOGOMET STE SJEBALI!
I think if (he’s gone) is more due to results and not the boycotting. Nevertheless the news of him almost gone is enlightening.
This is a prime example of why our national team is no longer what it used to be:
http://www.dnevno.hr/vijesti/hrvatska/98171-foto-kako-je-suker-posjetio-fk-bezaniju-klub-znakovitog-imena-kojemu-su-u-10-godina-ubili-cak-tri-predsjednika.html
Cico would be fine with me as well. Anyone know if he is coaching in the middle east or is he idle right now?
Listen, this is all playing out like I hoped it would. Gone – or hopefully gone – is a clown who never should have been the coach.
And for all of you who thought a boycott couldn’t work…..well, part of the reason Stimac might be gone is because of the lack of fan turnout for the repka. When something like that happens the pressure begins to build. You better have the results to back your work. And finally, the pressure reached the point where Stimac at least has to play this charade of offering his resignation.
Ante – relax bro, explained it all on that one post. You dont boycott Hrvatska cause you hate all the komunjari that run it do you? I think not, but you yet you would boycott the repka just as most of Zagreb did in the past few games. C’MON man don’t try to turn things around on people like me and call me a red head.
Ante, all I mean is that there is not enough national feeling like I’d like there to be.
If I step on your toes, or any others toes, with my what appear to be outlandish statements about ZG, I apologize. But I’m not blind, either.
Of course Zagreb is a Croatian city, but sometimes you wouldn’t know it by what goes down in that city.
Petkovic=Sarajevska legenda
If they want to spend money on a coach, I’m for Petkovic (doubt he will leave Lazio anyway). If not, I’m all for Niko.
Umm ya you guys should be happy for us so you will have some company when you join us in Brazil:) hah.
Zlatko Kranjcar is currently the only man for the job. The only logical choice and the only move that could bring sobriety to the situation. Pun INTENDED.
Doktore back to your point:
Stari moj, I’ve called everything from day one and people loved to shit on me jer sam dinamovac, jer su moji iz Zagreba, jerbo me smatraju ‘genocidnim ustasom’ itd but I’ve always stood my ground. From day one I have considered myself the voice of reason for all things related to Croatian soccer and politics for the desnicari. Believe me, we are the overwhelming minority here on CSR. So when I hear someone I respect say something completely stupid like ZG is not the Croatian city, capital, kaj god, it is inexcusable and the epitome of what the crveni spout here. I know you’re not a red head but you can’t be cereal like they say in South Park.
I’ve been right about everything til now from soccer to politics and I stand behind it.
Thank you Tiha Vala for the kind words. It’s not my aim to brag but I do appreciate the recognition
hey im confused yo how come Greece is 8-1-1 and not in the playoffs, and portugal is not in the playoff despite having better record than croatia… explain pls
Ask Stimac about NDH
Do you think Niko Kovac will allow himself to be the next puppet? Will nhe take the job and hope mamic leaves him alone?
The capital of NDH was supposed to be Banja Luka originally.
They drew the borders up wrong.
Sarajevo should’ve been the capital.
Ne moram. I believe you.
Are you kidding me?! Go back to my posts from YEARS ago. I was the only one who was ever anti Robi playing and got slated for it. Ajde pa bus videl, go ahead.
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/stimac-ponudit-cu-sukeru-svoju-ostavku-trazi-se-nasljednik-kovac-nije-opcija-/706296.aspx
Ante, communist dribble is supporting Prosinecki as head coach of Croatia. Interesting how you’ve failed to comment on that idea.
Yes, it WAS a fortress. But hasn’t been in some time. Many people in the past thought Croatia = Dinamo. Well, looks like they got what they wished for.
Ante B – not saying purgeri/zabrebcani are not hrvati. The city isn’t just made up of you guys. A lot of dalmatinci and everyone else there as well. Just saying in that city pride is not at the level as it was way back when. They are more modernized people and care for other things.
Now I’ve read it all. Oslobodi me Boze even the ones I think are hardcore spew commie dribble from time to time. Thank God for Cavoglave.
Nothing Wrong with Zagreb that Stadium was a fortress. We should play in Maksimir Osijek Poljud Kantrida Varzadin,Vinkovci,Pula.
Let me make myself clear, Ante, Zagreb has Croats in it – but is not a Croatian city and does not cut it as the capital. Plain and simple.
There is NO excuse for such poor turnouts for Croatia matches in the capital. NO excuse.
fkzELJEZNICAR
Cestitam, i svaka vam cast. Ali cemo se vidit na mundijal kad Niko preuzme nasu repku. Hrvatski se nogomet vraca uskoro!!
Sretni radi cega? Sto umjetna tvorevina ide na svjetsko prvenstvo? E, pa.. sto je previse – previse je .
You guys honestly believe Zagreb is not a Croatian city?!

OVO NIJE HRVATSKA NEMA VISE ZARA!
Here it is (nesluzbeno) but its out there. I’ve been saying it…
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/stimac-ponudit-cu-sukeru-svoju-ostavku-hrvatsku-preuzima-niko-kovac-/706296.aspx
@ Nije Bitno that Strinic Lovren thing i saw that during the game it was funny Lovren can be premier league sining of the year but SIFO is better.
This is hallarious! I’m getting chuckles reading all theses posts! Everyone here is such an expert. Before the Belgium game everyone was predicting a Croatia win, then after the game when I scrolled down I read how much this team sucks and how, won’t mention any names (ziva) I saw this coming! Lol. Svi ste pametni. Some people here won’t sleep for days because of this loss today, while as we speak our players showered up after the game got their clubbing clothes on and hit the nite life in Glasgow
CHANGES!!!!!!!!!!
@Doktor – don’t know what you’ve been watching since 1991, but, the only true soccer coach Croatia has ever had was Tomislav Ivic.
Hoping for Guus Hiddink, but, Mamic won’t allow it because he wants another puppet.
What good will another coach do if Mamic is still there telling the new guy what to do?
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/stimac-ponudit-cu-sukeru-svoju-ostavku-niko-kovac-novi-izbornik-/706296.aspx
Tiha Vala – yes they have been saying it all along but i agree more with Dokto Prle and his response
Doktor Prle says:
Say what you want about the HNS, and the criticism is well-deserved, but there’s no excuse for not supporting Croatia.
Any other city in Croatia, and we have a remarkable atmosphere for a currently shitty Croatian side.
Oh yeah, if Corluka has STDs (our slowest, but most intelligent player on the pitch), it’s because he gave your girlfriend (less likely, because you don’t get laid)- or your mother one.
Ziva, you arrogant, know-it-all piece of shit.
Don’t make me come back to this site (by popular demand, nonetheless) to dissect your idiocy.
Supporting CROATIA does not a fan of Stimac, Suker, Mamic et al make.
For the sake of comparison, I support the nation of Hrvatska – but I wish Josipovic, Mesic, Milanovic et al a long and slow death.
There’s no excuse for not supporting Croatia. Get your priorities straight. ZG is not a Croatian city, and hasn’t been one since ’45.
Even Rijeka, a communist hub and the city of mixed marriages and red partisan scum, would provide a better atmosphere than ZG. Says it all.
October 11, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Right on BRATE!
To the tune of Kalelargom petre prodi.
Maksimirom Stimac prodi,Do svalcionicu ces doci Suker tebe ceka a mamica si jeba!
Prosinecki, the man that actually took photos with Arkan; saluted (just recently) with 3 fingers; coached Red Star Belgrade just recently….
You people are Croats? Vi ste govna izdajnicka.
Lets hope for icelnad because we have the best chance v them chances would be 50-50. hhahaha SMS
Goran Vlaovic doesn’t think its a good time to give Stimac the boot.
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/vlaovic-nisam-za-smjenu-stimca-sto-ako-novi-izbornik-izgubi-u-play-offu-/706315.aspx
Ante B and Ziva were right all along. Give credit where credit is due. Ante B is not bragging like Ziva but he has been saying that HR is headed down the same dark path as his Dinamo for a while now…
We should go from a faux nationalist to a half-Serb with mixed loyalties in one fell swoop, is that right??
The team lacks national pride, first and foremost. And you want to see a mongrel at the helm.
CROATIA
A draw or a win in Scotland would guarantee a place among the seeds. Should Croatia lose they have to hope results elsewhere do not make them the unlucky runners-up. If they do lose but still make the playoffs they can only be unseeded if England do not win their group.
all the chaos and drama WOW
Igor Štimac je prvi trener koji je poslije treninga ponudio ostavku !!!
Oh shit we had a fight almost breakout between two of our players!
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/sjajna-atmosfera-strinic-i-lovren-umalo-se-potukli-usred-utakmice-/706316.aspx
I actually think you love the idea of Prosinecki getting the job. No need for disclaimers.
Also, this statement by Stimac doesn’t mean he is gone. This type of stuff happens all the time in Cro where someone offers to resign, but its not accepted.
Trust me, I don’t like the idea of prosinecki getting the job. But, he is more qualifed than many of the names being tossed around. I think Niko Kovac can work as a short term fix.
Seeded: Portugal, Greece, Croatia, Ukraine,
Unseeded: France, Sweden, Romania, Iceland
http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/index.html
I dont like how Stico said he will offer Suker to step down from the coaching position. He should just leave on his own and say hes done.
I’d rather have zuti in uniform than as coach 🙂 and it goes without saying that I don’t want to see him in uniform either.
Večeras je naša fešta, večeras nam igor ide….:D
Ukraine is seeded they jumped France and Sweeden…. Calculate the ranking for yourself
who cares if we are not seeded. The other teams are all looking at us as they team they most want to play.
I didn’t doubt some of you would like the idea of Prosinecki getting the job.
After Vukovar, perhaps the players can have their names on their jerseys stiched in Cyrillic.
Some of you Croats aren’t even Croatian at all.
Ante B
I’m going to go out on a limb and say the savez gives who the people want.
Niko Kovac
YES!!!
Do it Allen, we need all the help we can get!
The beginning of the end, as far as the players go, was the call up of Sammir and Pranjic walking out.
We might not be seeded
Alright and the next coach is?!?!
France might be seeded as germany beat sweden 5-3 and France won 3-0
Playoffs Nazalost Croatia,Greece,Romania,France ,Ukraine,Sweden,Iceland,Portugal.
What does Iggy have to say?
@allen. We need all the good vibes we can get. Protect that voice and get ready! Haha
@Ziva – Prosinecki has the best soccer mind among our former players – no doubt. I’ll even buy his cigarettes for him if he accepts.
I would love to see Cico Kranjcar coach the playoffs….he so fucking amazing at organizing teams…ramen bet when he coached back in the day.., what a boss!!!
After missing the last WC Ziva, I want to see us in there. I get your rationale and it makes sense but don’t know if that will be enough to get wholesale change. Prosinecki? Interesting….lets hope it’s someone new who can inject some offensive flair into this group
Bobby V – haha
This won’t be popular here, but lets at least give Stimac some credit on his way out… if you look at the final standings of all the groups, our’s was the toughest when you consider that the last place team in the group Macedonia had 7 points… more than the last place team of any other group. He also didn’t lose to Serbia which was the difference (as Bobby V points out) in getting second place. It’s these factors that make his resignation honourable.
@nije bitno – What if Croatia qualifies for the World Cup but Suker pulls a EASports move and tells FIFA its not enough money, so we aren’t going?
Looks like we have a Ziva Istina imposter again….I never made the comments: I hope we don’t qualify
Listen, I know some feeling are hurt and some of you can’t believe (after numerous warnings) that Stimac is such a failure. But, no need to resort to being an imposter. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Remove the emotion when commenting. Think clearly and you will make sense.
This all played out like I explained to you at this time last week. We are watching it play out in front of our own eyes. this is not shocking. We knew what was coming.
Alright fellas after today’s debacle, Allen Outraged might need to make another video. It worked before the Turkey game, it may work for the playoffs again.
Time to go get my suit, pajama pants, and Croatia hat ready.
What a joke! All that hard work bilic did to bump up our rankings is the only reason we will be ranked for the draw and avoid the top dogs. That being said, there is no easy draw amongst the unseeded teams with the way the team is playing. France/sweden/ukraine are all scoring goals while we get shut out twice by scotland. Shit…let’s hope the draw is kind to us, stimac is removed from his post and we remember how to score. friday will be interesting
We would have also had a different frame of mind in the last two games if we knew we needed points.
What if I told you guys one of the best tactical soccer minds might be available to coach the repka. There are rumors in Turkey Prosinecki could be fired from his club team. I don’t know for sure, but if he was available he might be the best choice. Personally, I don’t like that he played and coached at Zvezda, but he is a damn good soccer mind.
I hope we don’t qualify
http://sportske.jutarnji.hr/igor-stimac-ponudio-ostavku/1133158/
this just in, cico #50,000 to replace stimac
JP – your right! It’s in Sukers best interest to qualify for the WC due to financial reasons. The savez gets kicked back some money for qualifying.
@NB … it’s in Suker’s best interest to make the WC for what I think are obvious reasons… dropping the coach now (or accepting his resignation) gives him an excuse on both sides (qualify or not)… if they get in he made the change that was needed, if they don’t, at least he didn’t sit on his hands and watch the slow sinking of the titanic.
As it turns out, we finished only 3 points ahead of Serbia. Had we not drawn 1-1 in Belgrade, Serbia would have finished ahead of us with a better goal difference.
Well lets just hope its true, otherwise we’ll see how unhonourable things can get.
To those who think coaching doesn’t matter, you got no clue… obviously Stimac lost the team here somewhere along the way.
Whoever the replacement is (hopefully Ciro or Kovac imo) watch some heads roll and the motivation return. Not to mention some tactics.
honorable thing to do??????? he is beating them to the punch.
As for a new coach. I am not opposed to Kovac. He would have my backing. I think he is more in the mold of Bilic. Student of the game, person who spends time looking over our opponents, our own players and trying to figure out tactical lineups, etc…..He is raw, but he might be the kick in the ass that we need.
If Stimac is indeed gone, then my plans/dreams/hopes all have worked out. I told you guys that we need short term trouble (i.e. losing at home to Belgum and then to Scotland) for long term success (the removal of Stimac).
Fans: 97% Want Stimac Out, Stimac: I’m Going Nowhere
http://www.croatiaweek.com/fans-97-want-stimac-out-stimac-im-going-nowhere/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fans-97-want-stimac-out-stimac-im-going-nowhere
.
new rankings in a couple days i think
Seeded teams are Croatia (10), Portugal (11), Greece (12) and Sweden (22)
Unseeded are France, Ukraine, Romania and Iceland.
Rankings are based on September 2013 because FIFA does not update rankings immediately so today’s results will not be included and the draw is Monday (ie before next rankings are released).
With respect to qualifying – I’ve never seen a Croatian team that plays slower, with less creativity and emotion than this one. Remember – this team has the following results under Stimac: 2 losses to Scotland, 2 home defeats, had to fight from behind vs. both Wales and Macedonia and their first lackluster performance against Macedonia. Nevermind two friendly losses vs. Sweden and Switzerland and barely beating Liechenstein… I repeat Liechenstein.
There’s something wrong with this squad…it’s pretty obvious what it is.
They just dont look eager or driven anymore. They look fed up. I think Croatia’s got to this point due to messing around with the team so much. The players change every match. Formation changes. The players have not formed any continuity playing amongst the same teammates. I thought just when Kranjcar was starting to be effective, Stimac pulled him off for a low on confidence Perisic. I still dont see what Jelavic did wrong. In the Euro’s Jelavic and Mandzo were forming a good partnership and its been ripped up since then.
Its not a smart move by Stimac. Its called running out of excuses and having nothing other to do than step down.
It could be a media decoy that was already planned by the 3 amogos. Suker will say Stimac will coach the playoff.
If it’s true that’s a very smart move by Stimac for everyone concerned. And not to mention the honourable thing to do.
What if this was Sukers plan all along? Make Stimac coach like shit… then come in for playoff rounds and bring Croatia to the World Cup as coach to look like a hero???
Stimac finally figured out that these players are no longer playing for him.
Now, if they don’t qualify for the World Cup, can we all agree to lay the blame on our lack of talent?
stimac will give letter of resignation to hns.
http://www.index.hr/mobile/clanak.aspx?category=sport&id=706296
Štimac: Ponudit ću Šukeru večeras svoju ostavku!
I’ll believe it when I see it
I’ve suddenly found an ounce of respect for Igor Stimac.
…will it be accepted?
There really is no excuse for losing to Scotland TWICE…unless someone was getting paid on the side.
Wow, Stimac just announced on HRT2 that he will offer his resignation to Suker tonight.
Novi poraz neće najbolje sjesti u savezu.
– Naravno da smo bili ljuti nakon Belgije. Ako u utorak u Glasgowu bude slično kao u petak u Maksimiru, naravno da ćemo reagirati – rekao nam je izvor iz saveza.
http://www.24sata.hr/nogomet/stimac-je-usao-u-povijest-kao-najgori-hrvatski-izbornik-ikad-336846
By that, it looks like we have a good chance on having a new coach after today.
Stimac has to go. He’s lost control of the team. He can’t motivate them. The players don’t respect him. We need another coach.
We wouldn’t be playing this badly if Bilic was in charge. Stimac said it himself that he tried to change some things from the Bilic era and that it’s not working out.
We need a black coach!
Stimac said he’d offer his resignation tonight.
we will get killed by france and sweden, gotta hope for romania or iceland
Bring back Sammir!!
Stimac said we were handicapped by the yellow card situation and player fatigue.
100 bucks says we get france and lose 4 1 R I P HRVT soccer ..
LOL, unbelievable! Anybody see Sukers announcement today before the game?
Croatia will be Spains guest in a friendly match next year for Spains 100th year anniversary hahahahaha
http://www.vecernji.hr/sport/vijesti/suker-otkrio-hrvatska-ce-biti-gost-spanjolskoj-proslavi-clanak-628061
that’s what I get too Jarac
so fucking true bobby v my god retards on this site think a new couch will make our players be more creative ,alert and hungry our team sucks nobody plays like they care mandzo almost every game has hands at side or on head and complaining teams full of cancer like players that prevent us from making noise on big stage .. ridicule me all you want Croatia sucks atm bad ..
yea i think croatia, portugal, ukraine, and greece are seeded
If I was a betting man I’d say Romania and Iceland we have a chance at making it….
France or Sweden we wont make the world cup.
who are the seeded teams
I believe the 4 teams we may face are:
France
Sweden
Romania
Iceland
Its not an issue of lacking the talent of the players. Obviously our players are more talented then Scotlands…we just had no plan to score goals in this game what-so-ever.
The Belgian loss showed more potential then this.
Who knows….maybe they did get paid to throw the game since they figured they’d make the playoffs anyway. These things arent uncommon.
Ziva’s solution of making fun of all our players and firing all the staff and hoping we dont make the World Cup is not a solution either. A true fan is never happy when Croatia is losing at any level.
Lets hope the losses are out of our system …and we can begin the winning streaks again in the playoffs…and just before the World Cup.
@IvicA I believe France moves up but Ukraine pips them by 1 FIFA point!
@nije bitno…..I don’t buy that theory because this game featured a few players who are tied with Stimac. Srna is one. He and the Stimac brothers stole money from jadan i mali hajduk. Kranjcar was bailed out by Stimac when he delivered him to jadan i mali hajduk.
I think he needs to go and have said so for a long time. I’m happy with the result today because i hope it brings the first step in the change that we need.
Wont beat ukraine in the playoff, definitely wont beat france.
I hope we get france like stimac wanted.
Time to pull a Lane Kiffin on Stimac and fire him on the way to the airport, and give him cash for a busride home.
BTW – Belgium just tied Wales…we fucking really suck!
@ziva
yea you’re right the truth hurts. fucking this team sucks balls.
I CAN’T STOP SHAKING MY HEAD IN DISGUST..MY GLAVA IS GOING TO FALL OFF ANY SECOND..AJME!!!!!!!!
Toronto Croatia – “maybe Croatia has gotten all of the losses out of their system”
I know you didnt mean this literally but its time to look at the real facts, you were somewhat defending Stimac, its time to lay blame where it belongs. Stimac has no clue on how to select a staryting lineup, his strategies are an experiment, his formations are always proven to be off, he doesnt research his opponents properly, he lacks the ability to self reflect, he doesnt motivate the players, he’s far to arrogant for anyone!
Ziva, I said Kovac because all of CRO wants him due to his success with the U21 team and his success of being a leader on the pitch and off. They like his German trend of thinking. Is it early? i would think so but if they fire Stimac they will give the fans what they want, and from reading a lot of news, it looks like the people want Kovac. This way they can blame the people for choosing the coach this time.
Croatia is a small country that has hung around the top 10 in the World for a long time. This is the beginning of the end.
We are looking much like our neighbors now – Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, etc. No shame in that, hopefully our down cycle won’t last as long.
You can change the coach, but, at this point, it’s pretty much like putting lipstick on a svinja.
i don’t give a fuck if we “deserve” to be there or not! I don’t care if we get in on a Thierry Henry style handball. I just WANT to be there!
phew thank God for Denmark!
and no chance Bilic is leaving a multi-million dollar paying job to come back. Plus, no way we have the compensation to pay off his Besiktas contract….and no way Besiktas would let him walk.
i cant wait to read stimac’s comments.
I’m sure they will get a friendly in before the playoff. If not, these players have played enough together to know how to win. I really think they are half assing it cause they know they have a pretty good chance to get Stico fired.
So, did France leapfrog Sweden in the FIFA rankings after they won today and Sweden lost?
Also, how is our ranking now that we suffered a couple of losses? Who are the seeds now?
@adame…..relax. sometimes the istina hurts. I called this last week.
Wow I saw a Croatia today with exactly ZERO plan of attack.
whether Stimac gets fired or not….this team needs a plan of attack in the playoff games for Gods sakes.
Its getting harder and harder to find positives for sure…..but how about……maybe Croatia has gotten all of the losses out of their system before the playoffs?
Ciro or Cico.
What does Niko Kovac bring? He has no experience either?
After today, its on the players. This team will ne be together again until the playoffs. So, a new coach wont be able to do much. He will have them for 4 days of practice before the first playoff leg.
I just think firing Stimac is one thing they can do to get a short term spark. Either way, tis is not a team that can get to the knockout rounds of a WC.
ciro wont coach as long as mamic has any say. i can see kovac getting the call up as interim even. but stimac isnt getting the boot
stimac wont get the boot. thats wishful thinking.
Ciro Ciro Ciro!
ziva please stfu. I hate reading your comments the most.
Ciro!!!!!
who would take over for Igor?
One of 4 things will happen after this game. What are your predictions????
1) Stimac wont get the boot
2) if Stimac does get the boot, will Bilic leave turkey to come coach Cro again?
3) Will Niko Kovac get the call up?
4) Half dead Ciro gets the call?
the good news is that almost of all these guys don’t have to fly back to ZG.
it seems we are lacking what carried us so far before. heart
Any chance Stimac falls on his sword and resigns?
what a disgrace..FIRE EVERYONE NOW!!!!!!!!
no shame in not making the WC…..that is reserved for the best 14 europeans teams…..and we are not that.
Stimac saved his butt by saying this was going to be like a friendly match.
sad we had to rely on italy, we are officialy in the playoffs, and playing like this we will officially be out real fast.
we’re definitely not trying to score goals, heres jelavic
@Poglavnik – thanks. liked your comment about Baba’s gun!
hAhA StimAc!
U guys happy now? I bet you would like me back!
te-hehe!
i personally love how vida is laughing after the pk as if to say thank me for getting stimac fired. mamic in the backround thinking not so fact and suker cant think anything cuz hes sucking mamic off
newsflash………….this just in. France has removed their appeal over the playoff ranking systems. They wish to remain where they are and have asked to be unseeded, with one condition. They want Cro to be seeded so we have to play them.
Great initial save, horrible follow up by our defenders.
were awful I cant watch this shit no more lets all meet back here in 5 years hope for a better squad ..
I couldn’t dream of a better scenerio……2-0 because Strinic is lazy……
18 minutes left….i think if we give up one more goal that could spell the end of Strucnjak Stimac……come on, get behind me. I know its tough to admit I am correct, but we all want to see what is best for Cro.
12. masturbate. just saying
were not in the playoffs yet ziva, ur gonna fuckin jinx us. PS nice block, but wtf are these dumbasses doing sitting around. This isnt stimac’s fault, these guys just suck.
Hahaha trash pathetic. A joke
Well lets all cross our fingers now and hope Stimac is gone after tonight.
Good job by Pletikosa though
Now it’s a full nightmare
thank you Vida…….we have a chance to see 2-0 now…….LOL
it wasn’t you…it was others
man, now people are beginning to question Stimac. makes me almsot want to bak him now and support him……almost!!!!
LMAO PENALTY!!!! GTFO
not squirming at all just posting the score brate.
lol nvm….we lost…he just put peresic in…disaster
oh watch out!!!!!! perisic is on!! lets see who he can pass the ball to today that isnt croatian
I say: fire Stimac, its time
we’re doing alright…even though its 1-0 scotland right now….im sure we will win this game. We’re a better team its stimac retarted tactics that fuckin us up….kalinic probably should be rreplaced with eduardo…
this is so fun watching some of you post and squirm thinking we wont make the playoffs….relax guys, we are in…….only need to root for a few more Scotland goals so Strucnjak Stimac is let go.
not even pissed at eduardo, first player to make a run at goal
armenia, italy 2-2 now
really close one from dudu.
Ziva, you forgot one more thing to do next summer:
11. Go hang yourself.
Gees it got really foggy in Scotland.
@ziva koji ce nam kurac i navijaci?
what the fuck do we need to happen to make playoff if we loose?
focusing on group B
bulgaria – currently 13 pts – 6pt(malta is worst team) = 7pts
cech – currently 12 pts – 6 pts = 6 pts
denmark – currently 13 pts = 7pts
aremenia – currently 12pts – 3pts (have a loss to malta) = 9pts
Croatia 17 pts = -6 = 11pts
so if my math is correct, armenia has to beat italy here and we wont go.
VELIKA SRAMOTA, naprid!
Bobby V, you are one of the few classy ones here!
muther fucker
eduardo pre-injury scores that every time. just saying
our fans must be pissed, lighting flares now…….so here comes a fine and possible closed door match at home for the playoffs…….
no talent on this current squad besides modric mandzo mybe … and srna rest are poons running running do nothing
armenia up on italy 2-1
Things to do next summer during the World Cup since we wont be in it:
10. Go on a trip to Zrce
9. Go on the Kranjcar diet and eat junk food
8. Get hair styling tips from Rakitic
7. Eat burek and root for BiH
6. Try to count what is the bigger figure: the number of World Cup matches or STDs posses by Corluka
5. Watch Youtube clips of the 98 World Cup
4. Become a drug cheat like Marin Cilic
3. Watch the US of A play
2. Watch baseball
1. Follow Ziva Istina for updates and commentary
You people gotta understand that we know we qualified for the playoffs already, we are just not trying to get any red cards. Mogomet je Tako. We all know we play to the level
Of our competition
#eduardotime
All i have to say is, I hope our players aren’t really trying cause they too want Stimac gone. If they are trying, well then we lost our game and have nothing to look for in Brazil.
mandza is continuing to show me how overrated he is by us…does the guy know how to make any clever runs? and who is making runs for luka???? im honestly going smack someone if they say luka has to step up more, the guy has no options
Outcoached….again. This clown is in over his head.
What an embarrassment.
ah bog te jebo sta nam skoti rade.
Modric is class and its a shame that he will never play in the world cup because of poor coaching. Only spark we have today.
Anytime you can get a guy who coached jadan i mali hajduk for one month and Cibalia and NK Zagreb for the grand total of just over one year, you have to get that man to coach your national team…………well done HNS, well done!
Wow – clear penalty on Kranjcar!
In the savez office…
Will a loss today be enough to get rid if stimac?
we just play back forth passes go nowere loose ball get countered by ever fucking team
Vlaovic and Simunic congratulating Bosnia on their automatic World Cup birth – I’d like to do the same. Happy for my Mom’s side of the family who live in Stolac.
I actually sympathize with Denmark…
vuko is out for the first leg…good riddance
at least try the 3-4-1-2 with kranjcar at the hole instead of playing this 442
A tweet from ESPNFC
FT Denmark 6 – 0 Malta – The Danes finish second but are the unlucky second-placed team and will not be in the playoffs.
@ziva we dont have any creative players to replace vuko…
Ziva Istina says:
I’m actually enjoying the game………..
You call yourself a fan of this team? Sad.
With Denmark up 6-0 we’re in right?
If we lose, Scotland might as well pump in a few more, that way it guarentees Stico getting the boot hopefully…
I didn’t think we would have a board meltdown today, but we might. Imagine a 2-0 scoreline.
I’m actually enjoying the game………..
Someone needs to kill mamic for things to get better.
Vukojevic should never see the field against teams like Scotland. There is no need to play him, an extra defender, against teams like this. You lose a creative player when you do that. You play Vukojevic against the likes of Spain, Germany, Holland……teams that will have more of the possesion, where you need a CDM like him. But, not today.
At this point, even the jock-sniffing autograph seakers would want nothing to do with this team.
By the way, if you guys want to see a winner from the Balkans, you can go to St. Luois next month. BiH’s game with Argentina is official now that BiH was clinched their group.
its not even embarrassing, the players obviously dont care why should we? you can hear stimac yelling “sta stojis?” for those not fluid in croatian that roughly means “why the fuck are you standing still?” like i said theres no heart, theres no passion. im surprised theyre even sweating.
Stimac should be hanged, drawn and quartered like William Wallace!
@mkez00
A team like Scotland?!?! Given their recent results, you might want to re-think your pre-conceived notions of who is what, including the crven, bjeli plavi….
Are attack can’t hold the ball for their life, they give it away way to fast and not clinical enough with their chances, gives Scotland the ability to attack when they want.
you just don’t walk into a half-empty stadium in Scotland and play a Scotish side that has nothing play for and expect to come out with a win……..I mean, who do we think we are????
A 1-0 loss wont get rid of Strucnjak Stimac, so we need a few more goals from Scotland for that to happen.
That being said, I think our Braziliam comes in and scores in the second half.
Vukojevic is awesome. He reminds me of Petar Krpan from the Cro team at France 98′. Never figured how he was on the team but somehow he was there and actually saw the field.
This is embarrassing – now watching “Povratak Mrtvog Covijek” on HRT1
@Mike if Denmark can hold onto their 5-0 lead against Malta I think that’s enough to guarantee a playoff berth.
So Luka may never get to play in the WC.
They better beat Scotland
What is the scenario again that would eliminate Croatia from the playoffs?
Or is that scenario gone?
damn im usually the one to say dont worry we’re better and we’ll win but honestly I dont think our team can do it any more. maybe we peaked in the euros. Maybe they really do suck or maybe they are sucking on purpose cause they dont wanna play for stimac. Fuck it im joining the rest of you and saying that we wont make it to brazil.
this game is a lot closer to being 2-0 than 1-1………..
come on, that is crazy talk with the u-21s…….best case scenerio with an u-21 side is if more than 3 guys actually develop into reliable national team players.
You just know that someone is going to get hurt and someone will miss the first playoff thru a yellow.
How can you get any consistency when Stimac has changed the lineup, formation and tactic for every game he has coached?
1 chance from a scottish mistake in 20 minutes against a team like Scotland is nothing to be impressed about.
its kinda like what happened with france and domenech at the last world cup.
our u21 would give our senior team our run for their money right now. get stimac out. the u21 team looks creative, lively. our senior team… not so much
How much money has Stimac bet against us making the WC? He is doing his best to sabatoge our chances.
@mkez00
Up until the goal we were moving the ball and getting forward, mandzo had a nice chance on the Scottish net but got stripped….jebi ga.
Standard Scottish counter burned us, then almost 0-2.
Time to step it up again. Lots of time left in the game.
If Scotland does the double on us there is no way Stimac should even set foot back in Cro. Leave him in Glasgow to dine on haggus.
@vatrena, I agree with you, they don’t want to play for this joker. Stimac couldn’t even coach San Marino.
@vatrena cast
agreed, they players are probably just as fed up if not more than the media, etc. They could well just not care.
Lovren went into the challenge so weakly, you always have to assume that someone is going to be coming over your back in that situation.
If Corluka was any slower he’d look like he was going in reverse.
.
is it too early to say “i told you so.”….just checking.
no reason any of our front tier guys with yellows should be playing
its not about them sucking, or formations or anything anymore.. it honestly just looks like they dont want to play for stimac anymore. i cant blame them. no one is playing their hearts out. i really think it might be that simple.
And the noose gets tighter around stico’s neck.
Neka neka.
Another horrible performance so far
Holy crap almost a 2nd
one point from the last four games is what we are looking at right now……
It’s funny, because stico prob fielded a full strong lineup to get a win and some confidence going, and get the media off his back.
And they are already down 1-0
LOL
Pletikosa has to challenge that, he stayed on his line, he is part at fault for that one. This is funny..please get the fuck out Stimac, you stupid dick.
Nice goal. I wouldn’t be doubting just yet.
Braveheart!!!!!!!!!!!!
Things are about to get interesting…..a few more goals might put Strucnjak Stimac on the hot seat…….this should be fun to watch.
I didnt see the goal…how did they score?
Zbogom Stimac
BRING ON SAMMIR!!!!
Get the fuck out of here.
@sude mi, what game are you watching? They all look fucking terrible. 1 – 0, disgusting, every last one of them.
We look really smooth today… As I’m typing we get scored on great… Correction we look terrible today
Is he wearing his flat hat Ziva?
I like the way we are playing, on the front foot and fast. Kranjcar looks good in combination with Luka.
I’ll give Strucnjak Stimac credit when credit is due…………his posture when he stands is very good. Looks authoratative.
OH come the fuck on guys
suck it mustafa. why are u even on this site
I think Croatia will lose gain today.
I love Ljubuski and the fact that their kafici are more modern than their American counterparts. Caffee bar Rafaello represent.
** ahhh, Ljubuski???? The only place that I have ever witnessed that has a half a mesnica on one side of the store and a gas station on the other side.
This might be news to a lot of you here, but Croatian Hercegovci from that part of the world have a real love/hate relationship with the current Hrvatska. A lot of Croatia to them is no better than parts of Bosna.
ahhh, Ljubuski???? The only place that I have ever witnessed that has a half a mesnica on one of the store and half gas station.
^That was me.
Poglavnice,
I don’t think the surrounding areas (Sipovaca, Vojnici, Veljaci, Grab, Proboj, Radisici and Ljubuski) would agree.
Damn Hutton wanted to hurt Kranjcar
HRT 2 stream http://www.prvaliga.net/p/stream2.html
Hrt2 no because Italy is already in.
I rahter have Kalinic in than jelavic.
7:25 HNS PEDERI NOGOMET STE SJEBALI
Aremnia up 1-0
Does that have any effect on us
That wasn’t a foul he got the ball first. Stupid ref.
The Dutch up 2-0 in Turkey. Looks like Romania is headed for the playoff round. If Iceland stumbles and Slovenia gets a positive result, they could be headed toward the playoff as well. Both games tied heading into the second half.
Beautiful combination, Modric-Kranjcar, and then an awful shot from Kalinic, who should not be on the pitch.
Poglavnik, almost nothing makes you less of a Croat than cheering for BiH… Especially if you’re connected to Vitina (the one in zapadna Hercegovina).
Kranjcar looking pretty nice early on!
nice cut from Krancjar. you can tell he is confident.
LOL WATCH OUT CROAKS THERE IS NEW REAL FOOTBALL TEAM NOW. BiH KING OF AREA HAHAHHA
why would cheering for the US or Canada make anyone less of a hrvat.
Vida needs a new hair style…he looks ridiculous, maybe Rakitic could suggest a new stylist?
http://firstrowus1.eu/watch/214477/7/watch-scotland-vs-croatia—fifa-wcq-2014-.html
y is espn3 in spanish, wen it says english
@Josip B.
Im not talking about the one in Kosovo!
Here’s a question for all you BiH haters.
What makes you less of a Hrvat, cheering for USA or BiH?
I’m saying the former.
there is a new king of soccer in the balkans and its BiH.
Armenia leading Italy 1-0. Haha, too bad that wasn’t an earlier start to get us nervous right off the bat.
Wow, a save from Begovic off a Lithuanian free kick that was deflected. A minute earlier Ex-Hajuduk player Ibricic gets a yellow card from the bench for throwing an extra ball on the pitch during run of play.
Games over – Bosnia is in.
links anyone?
@bobby V…..agreed…they have a good number of players who could start for Cro.
1 Stipe Pletikosa
5 Vedran Ćorluka
6 Dejan Lovren
21 Domagoj Vida
2 Ivan Strinić
8 Ognjen Vukojević
10 Luka Modrić

11Darijo SRNA (C)
14Nikola KALINIC
17Mario MANDZUKIC
19Niko KRANJCAR
21Domagoj VIDA
“Poglavnik says:
If i were in Vitina right now id be loading up Baba’s guns for the celebration!”
Your family is from Vitina, and you’re cheering FOR BiH?! There must be another Vitina that I’m not aware of.
I found a picture of Ziva Istina in his fortified basement.
http://is.gd/fxiMGp
I watch all of Bosnia’s games – a very well balanced team. Dzeko, Ibisevic, Mislimovic, and Pjanic are excellent.
Free cevapi u somunu at the Mujo restaurant in Manchester, NH. tonight.
zero chance that line up is correct…..
I don’t think anyone here is a fan of BiH, but they fight for every ball.
Love the lineup, but mandza and corluka r idiots so they will prob geta yellow tonight… But formation wise looks like stimac is taking tips from ciro 98
Let’s Go Cro ! 2-0 Naši !! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Champion L.A. Galaxy , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
Denmark’s win will not allow Armenia to finish second – Armenia the only team from that group that can finish above us.
I hear Kranjcar has a habit of shagging other guys wives…the ladies love him….something people here should consider before slagging him, you never know where he might use that mayonnaise next?
fifa and there goofy rules and point system
hrt2 link anyone?
HOw do we qualify if Denmark win?
If i were in Vitina right now id be loading up Baba’s guns for the celebration!
@jm
Hands out yellow cards like candy.
http://is.gd/AUtFhS
Denmark win we are in good!!!
fuck… I jinxed Lithuania
Hrvatska (3-4-1-2): Pletikosa – Vida, Ćorluka, Lovren – Srna, Vukojević, Modrić, Strinić – Kranjčar – Mandžukić, Olić.
REPORTED LINE UP . of course all our amin players with yellow cards are in there. perhaps the acito of a coach looking to keep his job/appearance rather than long term thinking? one must ask, would greg popovic play tim duncan and tony parker in a meaningless game with possible suspension on the line? probably not
1-0 Bosnia -Ibisevic
I also have a dream that Canada will one day make it at least to the “hex”
Denmark is already up 2 on Malta… aka we have Qualified for the playoff
0-0 in the Bosna game
all you Bosna fans shitting your pants?
Bosnia just had a goal taken away due to offside……..
@Vuk – Czech are already eliminated, so I’d say them. Too lazy to look into it deeper.
Lol I have to laugh. Greece will win it’s group. They are so much better than us.
can anyone take a break from talking about Canadian soccer to tell me who to route for Bulgaria or Czech thanks
Someone chuck a good stream of Cro game before it starts plz.. The hrt have pre game show build up so if anyone has a link to that plz post! Cheers!!
Canada at the WC!?
LOL
Canada will NEVER get into the WC.
CSA is a joke.
When they cannot beat teams like Mauritania, they don’t deserve to play.
I would not want to face BiH in the playoffs……..
In response to Ziva’s questions
1. I say we score more goals.
2. Rakitic header
3. American politician
4. Mandzukic
5. diaspora hrvat trying to pick up a local along the coast?
I have a dream that one day Canada, Hrvatska , and Bosna will all be at the WC and life will truly be great! (said in my best M.L.K. voice)
Lithuania-Bosnia 0-0 at half – I would love to see Croatia – Bosnia in the playoff, just to laugh at all the arguing.
Ghana thumping Egypt 6-1. Why in fuck would you hire an American to coach your national team?
OK, time for a little oddsmakers segment:
1. Do we score more goals today than the amount of STDs Corluka will pick up once he gets back to Moscow tomorrow.
2. What is less effective: a Rakitic header or a condom in a black man’s pocket?
3. More inspirational figure: Strucnjak Stimac or an American politician?
4. Better offensive weapon: Mandzukic outside the box with the ball at his feet or a Andrew Bogut at the free throw line?
5. More missed opportunities: Our forwards or a diaspora hrvat trying to pick up a local along the coast?
@ Ziva
Stop picking on Niko …. or I’ll water down your Ožujsko/Karlovačko!!
He’s perfect as he is – chunky thighs and all.
And if he ever wants to pop over to mine for some roast beef & Yorkshire pudding, he’ll be very welcome!
@Ziva – I’d say he’d go more for Kajmak no?
British food is bland n boring. If it’s not deep fried, it’s boiled.
I can really see Lithuania scoring on a counter.
Bulgaria or Czech who do we need to win?
Props to Lithuania for keeping it level so far. I had really thought this would have been at least 2-0 by now.
I’ve never been a fan of English/Scotish food.
I’ve also heard rumors that Krnajcar sleeps next to a big jar of mayonnaise on his nightstand, so when he wakes up he has something to snack on.
Apparently, France are protesting the ranking system for the next stage of WC Qualifying.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/14/france-world-cup-seeding-ranking
They are worried about facing a “Top football nation”……they’ll likely draw Croatia and just laugh.
Nah, Kranjcar has a wealth of terrible fatty food in Scotland to deal with.
Have you not been to a Scottish fish n chip shop? Scottish Cook Book consists of:
Step 1) Take organ meat and mash together
Step 2) Deep fry
Step 3) Serve with chips
Step 4) Drink Irn Bru
Susic was willing to give them cevape, but somehow Kranjcar intercepted the order and had it flown into Scotland.
23rd minute and 0-0 in the BiH game, which means Mama Istina wins the bet.
I wonder how much cevape Susic is willing to give to Lithuanian coach for an easy victory.
I say BiH gets the bigger ratings.
do we route for Bulgaria or Czech? http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/news/newsid=2195395/index.html
My heart hopes Sammir is called up and scores 2 goals.
Reality says 1-1 or 2-2
I wonder what will get bigger TV ratings tonight in croatian parts of BiH? The Cro-Scotland game or the BiH game as most (not all) hrvati tune in and root for BiH to lose.
If the BiH game does get to the half tied, it will increase the pressure and nerves for them…..
Greece are up 1-0…………BiH still knotted at 0.
I say BiH score right at the end of the first half………round the time Corluka finds some Scottish bird and Kranjcar eats his 3rd round of deep fried Haggis.
I’m bored so I am watching Ghana-Egypt and BiH-Lithuania……over/under before BiH scores the first goal????? I say within 22 minutes.
Again, I hope you people have warned family back in BiH to stay inside tongith. They don’t want to be caught in their celebrations tonight.
@Adame………because if Strucnjak Stimac is stupid enough to play him in a game that means nothing – and he picks up a yellow card – then we deserve to be laughed at.
Since we last saw Scotland they almost beat England in England, kept it close with Belgium until a late goal made it 2 nil and dominated Macedonia in Macedonia for the win.
This is a much more focused and organized team under Gord Strachan and not the same team we played in June that was missing 6 or 7 starters. Ninety eight percent of this team plays in the EPL. No superstars mind you but it’s better than countries like Malta, Andorra, Faroe Islands, and San Marino Ritz crackers.
I would not lump Scotland in with the minnows above at this point in the juncture.
Ziva, I have to say sometimes you say the stupidest shit. Why would you hope Modric picks up another yellow?
Idiot Pasific Rim, only imitate from Ultraman & Godzilla Japan.
Anything short of a blowout loss keeps Strucnjak Stimac as the coach.
The one tragic element in all of this is TV commentator Stimac would never approve of Strucnjak Stimac the coach. Don’t we all miss the days of Stimac broadcasting the games on HRT and stepping all over Drago Cosic’s play-by-play.
Either way, should be interesting vieweing in the fortified basement.
@ Ziva
Let the boys take care of business – I think regardless of the result, during the break between this game the playoffs, there will be enough pressure on Stico to hit the road. Unless we clobber Scotland 4-0, 5-0 nothing, he really has nothing to go on … realistically, todya will finish 1-0, 2-1 – what can you really brag about in a result like that vs. almost minnow Scotland?
This game is so unpredictable. Even Vegas is offering even money on Croatia to win. Bet $100 and win $110. If I had $100 in my pocket I would throw it down on a win.
2-1 Croatia. Olic-Kalinic-Snodgrass
@Darko,
I agree.
Part of me is hoping Modric picks up a yellow card if Stimac is crazy enough to start him. No reason he should start today.
I hope they win too. A) because it’s Croatia, and B) I do believe they need a morale boost. I want a confident and motivated team going into the playoff team.
I get the argument that the coach may be fired soon if there are more poor showings, however there is no guarantee the higher ups would fire him. I think we are stuck with what we see before us.
Best of luck Croatia!
5-0 win or 5-0 loss against this type of opponent……it means nothing going into the playoff round.
We would be better served in long term if we were to lose 5-0 and Strucnjak Stimac was forced out. While we would still get another coach who will be controlled by the savez, there is no chance he would be as bad of a coach as Strucnjak Stimac.
off a set piece*
I’m gonna be an optimist for today…
While we aren’t playing the best football lately, we kind of forget that Scotland does have a shit team. I think the boys come with their A game today and lock up the playoff berth:
3-0
2 for Mandzo and one from either Corluka/Lovren on a set piece
Ziva we’d have 1004, Bosna 925. So closer (by 25 pts?) then current rankings but still a ways off. And don’t forget Croatia will have 2 playoff games in November which I believe bring full FIFA points and if we win we would get additional points before 2013 is finished (wow can’t believe it’s Oct 15th already)
Yellow cards or not, the Cro media is reporting that we won’t be sitting anyone this game.
Also, the referee for our game is Romanian who likes to give out yellow cards. Romania is also a potential match-up for us in the playoffs as they are likely going to beat Estonia today to secure second in their group.
Holy shit.. i was youtubing Niko Kranjcar vids and i see CSR’s Ante in one.. lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-3v-8yBJcI
@42 seconds
ANTE YOU ARE FAMOUS
Nobody cares about your bets, Ziva
Has anyone seen Pacific Rim yet ???
I have to nominate it for the worst aussie accents i have yet seen in any american movie (and that is saying something)
absolutely terrible
for those of you guys who like to calculate the FIFA rankings…….assuming we win today at Scotland and assuming BiH takes care of business later today in Lithuania. where will each team be ranked in the FIFA rankings.
As few months ago I made a bet with a blind CRO homer and told him BiH would be ranked higher in the FIFA rankings for at least one month by the end of next summer’s World Cup. How close would both teams be after today’s games. I’m considering doubling down on my bet.
But players like Luka & Niko are intelligent enough not to do anything stupid, which might get them a card tonight. However, defenders are more at risk.
Give us BiH in the playoff round. Send them back home. Fuck them!
GO WITH THE B TEAM
My thoughts are the same as yesterday. Too little upside to risking a second yellow for some of our key players. Sit Modric, Mandzukic, and Corluka. Let the rest play.
its a shame rakitic is injured for this game. He could have finally played in the middle and shown us what he’s got! 🙂
Fucken mujos!
from what i was told yesterday, not they will not be scrapped. So, if lets say Modric picks up a yellow in the first playoff leg, he would miss the 2nd leg
OK, so if all the players on yellow cards don’t play today, they’re sure to be available for the 1st leg of the play off. But, they’ll still be on yellow cards, won’t they? So, if they get booked in the first play off game, they’ll miss the second one (which might be the more important of the two).
Or do all the yellow cards get scrapped after tonight???
1-0 Croatia.
