I love these give-and-go and tic-tac-toe goals.
@Boris,
I was in Phoenix for game 3, hundreds of Laker fans made the 400 mile trip to support their loved ones. Interesting to see Los Angeles Mexicans get into it with Arizona Mexicans…
The Suns still dont scare me. I dont see them winning in LA. I must admit that US Airways Center had the loudest fans out of Staples Center, Alamo Dome, American Airlines Arena, and United Center. However, this was the first time I watched the Lakers away in playoff action.
I picked Lakers in 5, now I have Lakers in 7…
I think Celtics over LA in 6…
@Ziva Istina,
I agree, college stadiums have the best atmosphere. Staples Center lower bowl is infested with celebrities, Lawyers, businessmen, that show up in suits to the game with their 20 year old girlfriends.
Lakers fans, like most Cali sports fans need to be told when to cheer. There are so many things to do in Cali and sports is not something that people take passionately as they do in the east coast, midwest.
Best sports fans in the USA are college fans. Go to a SEC or Big Ten football game, puts everything else to shame in the US.
suns/lakers all tied up. you laker fans getting nervous yet?
@Anonymous,
please sign in. Thankfor the Strinic rumor. Koeln would be a great move for Strinic.
I didnt get a chance to see the Wales game, instead, made the trip out to Phoenix to watch the Suns toss the Lakers around in game 3. Suns fans actually think they have a chance.. I feel for Steve Nash though..
From the highlights of the Wales game and after watching the Austria game, it still looks like we dont have that Suker-nose-for-goal striker. We havent had a good striker performance since eduardo back in Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Strinic would be a excellant signing for Koln are really no small team with guys like Podolski, Novakovic, Maniche, Vincent Petit – guys like that don't come cheap so i think this is not a bad club and is a good starting point for Strinic would could excel there and move higher.
I think Soldo hasn't had chance to make signings so far and had to work with what he was given. This season he may turn to a few Croats as he gets more of a say in the players he wants. I think last year its hard to control the dressing room if they are not your players. I think Strinic and Ibricic sales are important for both player and club.
Hajduk have guys who can step in and they don't know what to do with them until they sell Strinic and Ibricic off. I don't believe you can hold back guys when they are ready to go. I think Strinic, Ibricic and even Badelj and Mandzo should be allowed to go now.
Also just like to say Velimir Zajec… why? No improvement on Krunoslav Jurcic whatsoever. The guys barely managed a club in ages.
Also looks like we've already lost one player of my list of players Dinamo should sign. Bostjan Cesar's gone to Chievo. Great move for him, but would have been a star back at Dinamo.
I'm not sure where else we can look for a new centre back. I still don't believe Biscan, Barbaric, Cufre, Simic qualifies you for Champions League or even Europa Liga. There's still Kristjan Ipsa, Renato Kelic or we can give Bagaric from Lokomotiva a try out. Maybe someone like Tomislav Mikulic may be realistic though he prob may even struggle to get him out of Germinal Beerscott.
Soldo has interest in him, so there is a possibility. Soldo has spoken in the last week with Bilic about him.
German media reports that Strinic is going to 1. F.C. Koeln.
U-19 made Euro Champs in July in paris. They won all 3 games in the elite round outscoring their opponents 6-1. Maglica led the team in qualyfying with 4 goals in 6qualyfying matches.
If they place 3rd or better in their group they make U-20 World CUp 2011. I will be in Paris. Does anyone know where to get tickets?
No shock that somebody would say that, especially a reporter based in Zagreb…..but, the majority of the stadium was chanting. So, all good in my eyes.
Za Dom Spremni was used before WWII and will always be used by hrvati. These self-hating, socialist-loving, commie-missing, Tito-worshiping hrvati need to get over it.
he's a yugo that's why, there's nothing hateful in the phrase 'za dom spremni.' only a yugo would say it was.
heal the world,
make it a better place,
kick a yugo in the face.
idiot reporter from vecernji says "za dom spremni" chants by the osijecani ruined the match. i beg to differ. post game interviews with bilic and pletikosa confirm that the team LOVED the atmosphere in osijek, and bilic promised to bring the national team back to osijek for future games.
this reporter is a disgrace. i hope he gets his ass kicked the next time he shows his face in osijek:

dudu is done. end of story
If we play this 4-2-1-2-1 formation though who is in it when everyones fit..
I looking at it and i'm guessing its Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Simunic, Strinic; Dujmovic, Rakitic/Pranjic; Modric; Kranjcar, Eduardo; Olic
Anyone agree with that. I don't mind it if that's the formation. Though Rakitic and Modric are still a little soft as defensive mids so we need to be a bit careful pairing them in the centre.
I was a bit concerned Vukojevic started over Dujmovic as Vukojevic has not had impressive moments in these matches. Dujmovic has been much more solid and confident.
To be honest Wales had a lot of players out. Nearly a full team. Remember no Gareth Bale, Aoran Ramsey, Jack Collinson, Craig Bellamy, James Collins, Simon Davies, Joe Ledley or David Vaughan and they looked even worse than they normally are without the Prem players. A couple of these guys play for the club from my hometown. Its a Championship level side so they could never compete with the likes of Rakitic.
I'd like to see Bilic give Estonia match to the younger guys, but i'm interested to see start of next season when everyones fit especially Corluka and Kranjcar and Eduardo how they fit into this system.
On injuries i've sort of noticed that the team is actually playing harder than expected in these matches. Maybe its cos they didn't qualify but many are actually sweating and willing to take challenges. Srna, Mandzo, Strinic, Petric and Modric have all took knocks in these matches. I always said competition makes people play harder and when we had Vejic, Drpic, Leko and well we all see what Pokrivac is at the moment. If you got these guys on bench its no surprise some players may have not pushed themselves hard enough in the team. but i think with the competition it'll be better. I personally also think Drago Gabric deserves a mention. To me he looks good. Fair enough he might not be able to push out Rakitic, Kranjcar or Srna, but he certainly looks to me like he can knock over the smaller clubs and be really influential.
Also i recently heard Mate Bilic saying how fantastic it is to play with Croatia with guys like Modric, Rakitic, Kranjcar etc. I imagine his workload is a lot less than at Gijon. Gijon only have a squad of 15 players. They all must get really drained by the end of the season. Its no surprise Bilic is enjoying playing with these new players with Croatia.
we played well, not great. Wales is a fourth rate european side and we played around with them.
I echo what dinamofan said….Strinic and Bilic and have put themselves in a position where Slaven Bilic will be able to count on them as part of the roster for euro qualifying. Heck, Strinic might be able to start for the squad, but its way to early to know for sure because this is Austria and Wales. What we possibly gain is added depth to the squad. If we can find someone who can play the left back position we allow Pranjic to either start or come off the bench in the midfield. Pranjic/Kranjcar/Rakitic, one or possibly two of these guys will be on the bench and that is a good thing for our depth.
There were still some holes in the defense in the first half and that is a concern. A side with more quality would have made us pay, but overall a very good effort and an OK game.
Here's hooping nobody gets injured against Estonia and we stay healthy going into September. The results in these games are secondary.
Thank U STanko!!!!!

Bilic has to get to stage where he's can a group he feels he can count on like he had in 2007/08.
I think Drago Gabric and Mate Bilic have nailed their place in the squad over the last two games. I was quite impressed by Mandzo's work rate today. Strinic was solid and work hard too.
Its hard to fault anyone today but bits of play from Vukojevic and Pokrivac didn't impress me, whilst when Dujmovic came on he was vocal again and getting on the ball and passing which Vukojevic doesn't do.
Jelavic and Mandzukic worked hard, but i think Mate seems to have that little bit extra than them. Maybe its purely experience and knowledge.
I basically don't know what to say about Mladen Petric. When is he gonna give us a performance. You can say oh he's had a long season, but Luka Modric and Dario Srna both put the work in today. He can start on the bench but he really is starting to test the patience now. When i see Modric's shooting and Petric not working very hard and Olic being stifled against Inter you can slightly see why Croatia didn't qualify. You definitely need other players around these guys to get to a tournament. People like Rakitic, Kranjcar, Eduardo, M Bilic, Gabric, Klasnic are very important. Got to have a squad.
i'd hope Vida, Badelj and Kalinic get a start in Estonia. Mandzo is playing on a injury so its time for him to come out. Jelavic and Kalinic should start V Estonia. I still wouldn't minded see Gavranovic in this squad rather than Petric and i also think Pokrivac is bring nothing to the party and would have been nice to see Ilicevic or hopefully Badelj plays V Estonia. No complaints about Modric today. Its a 8 🙂
Great goal by Rakitic. I wasn't that impressed until that goal.
Not entirely sure about Rakitic in central mid, but if he's gonna do something like that then can't complain. Kranjcar and Rakitic are always scoring these goals. Would be nice in Modric pitched in.
Pleeetikosa!
Pranjic will play against Estonia. I don't mind Pranjic playing in these friendlies as he's not played much football this season. however olic was never gonna come. that was obvious.
looking forward to seeing Kalinic get a run out. he also shouldn't be tired as he hasn't been playing week in week in EPL. Jelavic and Kalinic might a interesting partnership. Koln are supposed to be closed to signing Ivan Strinic. Thats the perfect move in my opinion.
Im wondering if Pranjic wil play , he didnt play yesterday anyway so i wouldnt be too suprised . 😮
Great to see Vida and Kalinic get the call. Rakitic could have been given a break. He's played a lot of football lately.
