HRVATSKA Starting XI: Kalinić – Vrsaljko, Lešković, Jedvaj, Leovac – Badelj, Antolić, Milić, Sharbini, Kovačić – Čop
1st Half: Croatia’s “B” team held there own in the first half against Argentina, heading into the locker room at halftime up 1-0. A team full of up and coming stars including Mateo Kovacic, Sime Vrsaljko, Duje Cop and Tin Jedvaj held Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria and Kun Aguero scoreless for the first 45 minutes. Granted it’s a friendly, the kids are playing with pace against some of the best players in the world. Jedvaj has been tough on Messi and Aguero defensively as Argentina could have easily put two or three goals past Kalinic.
In the 1th minute, Kovacic set up Sharbini on the left flank who one-timed a shot just inside the right post for the game’s opening goal. There is a confidence in this young Croatian squad who are without captain Darijo Srna, Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka or Ivan Rakitic for this match. It will only help them in the long run as their careers mature; knowing they can play against the world’s best.
Maybe Kovac had a master plan after all. And it looks like it’s working.
2nd Half: The Croatians let their foot off the pedal and it showed in the scoreline as Argentina’s stars woke up. A deflected shot off of Aguero’s elbow would level the game and Messi would convert a penalty minutes later after Kalinic brought down Aguero. The younger Croatian squad didn’t have enough fortitude to muster up another run as they would finish the day with only one shot on goal. However, they have to hold their heads up high for the exceptional display against Argentina’s best players.
Next up: Italy on Sunday.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Ziva- they will never leave and so far nobody has been able to do a think to Mamic…something else has to happen!
i ti si magarac pravi
If our fans in Cro were smart they would never attend a national team game until Mamic and Puppet Suker were removed or left on their own. But our fans are sheep.
Could the same not be said about the foul on Halilovic’s yet there was no PK.@ Adriatic Bull
IvicA says:
Slavonac = Mamić!!!
hey…take it easy man!
@ANTE B
Svemu jednom dode kraj….. Imaj malo pacijencije……
Torcidasi,
In addition to the BBB, Mamic has declared war on you guys today as well. Good luck! Uvijek protiv Mamica
Niko looves Croatia sooo much! That’s why he got his brother Robert the assistant coach position rather than someone with experience he was only thinking about the best interests of Croatian football and not his own of course!
It’s working so wonderfully in every other Croatian institution thats why the people of Croatia have such a high standard of living.
Slavonac = Mamić!!!
you know guys, I think there is far to much concentration and discussions regarding Kovac, Suker and Mamic’s relationship than there is facts about the influence they really do have over Kovac.
Yesterday’s interview with Suker seemed to be a good example. It appears as if Suker made the deal to play Argentina and I don’t think he consulted with Kovac before confirming details, once the deal was done and the financial agreement was made, thats when I believe Kovac was informed. what did he do, this is not first hand info but in my opinion and based on all I’ve read and seen through interviews, Kovac didn’t want to risk injuries or fatigue between a 4 day gap in games, so he did what he wanted to do and he responded to Sukers deal with what he felt was the best way to handle the opportunity.
so many people here criticize Kovac, I have as well and I admit, I am still not sold on him. but that move he did was a good one and in my opinion, it demonstrates he didnt kiss Suker or Mamic’s ass…he did what he had to for his team and players.
Follow my instagram bruhs. @bojan__
It was just an exercise in shining up nikos public image, everyone knows he is their bitch boy, so they play this off like it is niko going rogue on them to get people saying, oh look niko is his own man he has seen the light. But come the big game we can all expect to see pranja a LB, brozovic receiving game time ahead of others, players out of position etc etc. I hope im wrong but i think it will be business as usual on sunday
Ziva,I like Pizza, but am not too keen on the Bagel.I hope this causes no offence to you.
Even when you have everything, it’s still difficult.
How much money did Germany invest in their football program 12 years ago? $1 Billion dollars?
With all this money, a massive football culture, a successful league, and a large population…they improved greatly but still kept finishing in the semifinals in every tournament since World Cup 2006, over and over, until they finally actually won one in 2014 and the investment finally paid off (I guess).
We need to start consistently getting out of the first round, before we ever talk about winning one. However, yes, you can get lucky and pull a Greece, but that’s a one in a million occurrence. But we definitely have the depth and talent to become perennial quarterfinalists in every tournament like an Italy or Holland. Just incompetence at the top level.
Ziva- if that last comment was you….I 100% agree!!!
They won’t……..no shame in not winning it all. It is hard and usually takes extreme talent, organization, leadership and some luck (Greece). We have the talent but lack organization and leadership.
Heck all this positive thinking gives me goosebumps, in fact it’s contagious. But It begs the question: when will we win a major tourney??? When will one of these studs win the holy grail of all individual accolades…the iconic Balon D’Or?
soul champ is positive… what do you want him to say… we are going to get smashed and shit the bed… i appreciate his positive thoughts.
the whole brazil game and then the nude thing through the whole fucking tournament for us in the shitter… we weren’t dealt a fair card but i agree it was still up to the boys to step up
its a new campaign, so far they are doing ok… if they don’t have a point to prove for the world cup you know they will at least be fired up to play italy in italy no doubt
ziva i agree with much you say but you are like a horoscope you play both sides much of the time making it easy to associate with said description. you should be in politics
Ziva is a Anti-Pizite.
good game by our team and have to congratulate the savez and kovac, samo naprid
So, by that same logic of being ready to play on sunday because they have a point to prove after mexico……..wouldn’t that also apply to Italy and how they left the WC.
Newsflash friends……..how either team plays on Sunday has nothing to do with the World Cup and trying to prove a point. You prove a point at the World Cup, not outside of it.
What am I on “record” for. I didn’t say they would lose.
Hell, you are the clown that was saying we would see the “beast” unleashed during the WC. And they only thing we saw unleashed was Lovren’s “other” side and an ass-kicking by Mexico.
Either way, continue being a typical diaspora clown.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sojUCKYHoHc
don’t think this is part of the ZDS lifestyle but id sure like to ZDS her
ok ill play it this way… if kovac went against suker for not bringing the big boys… he still probably listened to mamic and said we need to sell cop and a few others…
i think the boys will be ready to play on sunday… they have a point to prove after mexico
kramaric gonna pop a nice one in and the wops will be fighting to sign him
@ NEGATIVNA
You are now on record again doubting the power of Croatia.
I say we will make a run with Luka “the bust” Modric captaining a stacked crew of Croatian studs in France. Semi-finals.
After you finish servicing the local priest at mass, go back to the basement and bare witness to the full fury of the Vatreni.
@ Ziva sympathizers
Your little cynical Đubre is on record once again.
Any of you Veliki pederi cosigning this pizda.
I know how all the Ovce like to flock together.
@ Svima
Enjoy the excellence that is naša nogomet.
We played with Argentina and matched their technical ability. They happen to have a transcendent player in Messi.
U Boj
ha ha! That’s pretty funny.
Židska Istina hates pizza.
shut up you pizza hating jew
To me this entire Euro qualifying is not exciting, at least not until the last few games and the playoff round when teams are fighting for one of the last few spots. Whoever loses on Sunday……I say big deal. Both teams will qualify and that is all that matters. We will qualify and then we will shit the bed when Euro 2016 comes around.
Bjorn Kuipers of Holland will be the ref on Sunday for those of you that care.
wow, another fake account……
@Slavonac from Canada…….I’m sure Puppet Suker is pissed at Kum Kovac for not brining a full team. Kum Kovac did the right thing in my opinion. And I really doubt anyone is pissed we brought a depleted squad. The Croatian name doesn’t sell tickets so I really doubt thousands less tickets were sold or fewer people tuned in around the world to watch. They tuned in to see Messi, not Modric. Puppet Suker neads to shutup. Kum Kovac only answers to mamic, not Puppet Suker.
Once again, another Ziva imposter on this site….but it’s true, I am gay.
croatia without scehfeld or kalanic going all out not for a tie win or lose it will be
@CroatHrvat
I was on the opposite side of you. One section over from the Croatian dug out. 3rd row. Awesome seats.
Thats great news Ziva! All this time I have been having relations with your mama, but secretly also being gay. What a coming out!
@Giovanni-You are very funny in your summary of Ziva Istina! Probably the best summary ever on this site!
“You remind me of Jewish man in my city.He complain everything. He complain about Pizza.Who complain about Pizza??”
Well, the answer is Ziva Istina and the Jew from your city!
oh, you guys are gay too? great, I can finally come out.
omg we have so much in common TONIII we should move to California and get married……
Hey, Im gay.
@ Givanni
let me clarify too, in case you want to get cute…
I’m a CROAT from Istra
😉
@ Giovanni
When you’re from Istra, you are naturally bilingual…
ma.. l’istria e nostra, capire?
Look how motivated our second team was yesterday.p
Hope our guys aren’t underestimating the Italians because a number of their players are not playing.
Their second stringers will be hungry and motivated.
Armada I see you are Italian who is writing on Croatian website too?
I read this website for two weeks now and I see funny comments. Zivi istina person remind me of Jewish man from my city, olways complain. Even about pizza. Who complain about pizza?
@ Giovanni
In Croazia, we only have ‘prsut’ 😉
grazie mille!
Ciao Croati!
Time for us to finally beat you.
If you win, I give you prosciutto
If we win, you give me prosciutto
If we tie, we both go to Hvar and find some nice prosciutto together
@ Armada
My main man from Rijeka. Must be proud to see the Kantrida pitch hosting big clubs from Europe.
You don’t think 2-1 is realistic?
Azzuri without Pirlo is predictable.
Our boys love competing against Pederi across the Adriatic trying to steal our tall hotties.
We are due for a statement win.
Thought I was grounded?
Uvijek Vjerni
In the write up done by Ante, I found it funny to see “up and coming stars” and Duje Cop in the same sentence.
hahaha…..
@ Slavonac
we need Ziva and his insider scoops from his sources within the HNS…
who was that posted here one time “Ivan from savez” or something like that? where is that guy when we need him… 😀
Also, for anyone else in the UK, the Italy game will be on ITV4 and Slaven Bilic will be in the studio as a pundit.
Ziva- have you read todays news? apparently Suker is pissed at Kovac for not bringing first team players so the repka lost money for not playing enough starters:
Predsjednik HNS-a nije bio oduševljen što je Hrvatska nastupila s pričuvnim sastavom, sarkastično se ispričavši što je dogovorio utakmicu
maybe we don’t know all we think we know? maybe Suker made this deal and Kovac did what he felt he had to do in order to keep his players healthy?
@ Mike Milk
I was in the East Stand Lower (the opposite side to where the managers and subs were), right on the halfway line, awesome seats. Where were you?
Can’t remember who it was but someone asked for a replay of the match. Found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sggci_ItE10
I also agree that Kovač will get a couple of our starting eleven incorrect (example: Pranjić will probably start),
BUT
I think the rest of our squad will step up for Italy and it may still work out for us anyway.
My prediction Sunday: Kovac gets out coached, screws up our starting line up and our substitutions regardless of the out come.
Soul Champ…. you might not be realistic, but your positive thinking is nice.
“Italy is Italy, in Italy”
How profound … … … NOT!!!
This is Italy vs Croatia.
They have a good trainer but no amount of paranoid Italian tactics can stop the fire that will be unleashed in Milan by our Vatreni.
True this won’t be match won’t be for all the mama’s boys who live in a basement safe and cynical.
It will be nasty but NK does nasty well and now he is integrating more and more young charges.
2-1 Hrvatska
Uvijek Vijerni.
U Boj.

@CroatHrvat
I was at the game too and would agree with what you said. Vrsaljko played great I thought. Where were you sitting? I thought the back 4 did a great job limiting Argentinas chances for most of the game. Halilovic can be good as he gets older. He needs to get some muscle into his body and be stronger but he’s also only 17
Messi is magic. Watching him play live he seems even faster and smarter
@ King Bronk
I can understand that the first goal should be disallowed for Hand Ball but it was a clear cut penalty for the second goal. All in all wasn’t a bad performance.
@croatHrvat……yep. I should have stuck with my initial instinct when the draw was announced and said Mexico was the clear favorite for second place in the group.
Typical assist by the Refs to the Big Boys.
Handball goal plus a Messi PK bearly beat a Croatian B Team.
How does the ref miss the handball goal but everyone else clearly sees it? I wonder if Halilovic’s name is Messi if that isn’t a PK for us. This is what I mean by the Fix. Refs always help the big clubs to win then the media covers for them and reports how they “inevitably won.”
A video is going viral right now about Messi getting nutmegged today. Was that Badelj who did it? Damn.
Ziva- I know eh? These people think Italy are some bush league team….crazy!
@ Ziva
-_- are you for real? You were the guy who told everyone to bet big on Croatia before the Mexico game. Just because you made significant financial losses on Croatia at the World Cup doesn’t mean you are immune from being in the group of people you speak of.
Italy game is a win, we will top the group.
*Slow Clap* well done young Vatreni, well done. They prevented a Titanic like disaster today.
So fortunately our record for our worst defeat 5-1 vs England is still intact. They prevented Argentina from surpassing this score-line. 🙂
We had plenty of positives today. And the future does look bright. The Italy game won’t be easy. Never underestimate Italy at home
man, some of you are making it sound like it will be an easy game Italy.
Probably the same people who thought we would easily advance from our World Cup group.
Italy is italy……this may not be their best squad, but beating them on home soil aint easy.
@CroatHrvat
You forgot to mention Bonucci too. He deserves praise for his play, and lucky for us, he was red carded in Italy’s last game so he can’t play against us on Sunday either.
If Pirlo truly is out for the match (game time decision) along with Veratti and Bonucci…it would be a shame if they somehow beat us. Our team should be full of confidence right now with the ‘A’ team coming off a 6-0 win and our ‘B’ team playing Argentina to a near draw.
Great showing! Kalinic, Jedvay, and Kovacic were solid. Forget the final score, aside from the back line, that was Argentina’s A team.
I’m excited about the game with Italy.
Maybe when the NT defeats Italy the all you Kovac haters will back off.
Have some faith!
It’ll be interesting to see what happens to some of these players now… you’d imagine that that nice goal made the Sharbini family some money.
Big ups to Kovac for taking the approach he did today, it’s not only very useful for the future of football at the national level, but a very smart coaching move too. The starting 11 is now a fight, there’s no doubt about that. @Soulchamp put it well.
I am suprised that Sammir didn’t evn make our B squad. Is he injured?
Hats off to the youngsters. Well done, period. They stepped up today and played very well together. Showed speed, shape and toughness. Congrats to Suker, HNS, Kovac and the players.
kovavic n sharbini x factors
^ ^
Lucky you.
Sounds like a fun game to be at.
Most people are so turned off at the thought watching a “B” team.
And you got to see one of the best to ever do it.
Sounds like I missed a great game, couldn’t record it. 🙁
Is there some way I can watch the full game on the internet?
Italy game – I’m still not convinced Kovac is the right man but I think we beat Italy comfortably. Their squad is really poor, Pirlo and Veratti injured. The only people there worth praise are Buffon, Chiellini, De Rossi and Marchisio. The rest of them are a bunch of Pranjic’s and Kalinic’s. Honestly, look at their squad, you wouldn’t believe the lack of quality. We will surprise them once more.
I was at the game and I thought Badelj played excellently, then I went on Goal.com to see his rating and they didn’t agree.
Kovacic outstanding, Halilovic good. Jedvaj is ready to play for us, LB/RB/CB – wherever he wants. Vrsaljko will be a good replacement for Srna. Good performance from these guys today.
BTW, Messi is truly phenomenal. A couple of times our boys got to him first and challenged him, but for the most part everything he touches turns to gold. Created chance after chance. Hopefully Halilovic can learn from Messi at Barca as well as Messi learnt (and exceeded) from Ronaldinho there.
sharbini is great goallllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a great starting lineup against italy. If the names were drawn out of a hat at random by a drunk zebra!
Kalinić – Vrsaljko, Lešković, Jedvaj, Leovac – Badelj, Antolić, Milić, Sharbini, Kovačić – Čop
kovacic sharbini start vs italy cop bench
Another person posting as me…….Great.
Nice effort by our guys. Half ass by Argentina.
So dumb to even play Messi. Must have been part of the agreement with the promoter who puts on Argentina games.
Today was a prime example why these friendlies are stupid. Our younger kids took it seriously because they were presented with a chance. The experienced Argentines showed up and decided to kick the ball around.

If you could pick a few players to get called up today, who would you guys ask to come play for the repka?
I’m taking Kalinic in goal and Jedvaj. Milic and Vrsaljko had decent games as well. Kalinic’s positioning and saves were first class.
@vatrena cast,
I’m glad you are reading bud. Usually, I would make a mistake like that. However, this time it was Ante. I didn’t catch the game today.
Couple things:
1. Jedvaj will be ready for Euro.
2. Good goal, lots of heart, unlucky Arg goal. Loved watching Team B actually threaten a WC finalist and a team with the 2nd best player in the world.
3.Tactics still need work. Players were getting stuck and there was no flow. I understand that they are green and young, but it still shows Kovac can’t formulate a healthy attack from the back. It’s all wings to cross and no attack from the middle.
i definitely thought we’d get our asses kicked but hey its just a friendly either way.
@denis “The Croatians let there foot off the pedal” its **their** come on now
Nepoznat – do have that website that we can download the game?
is rebic on drugs or the bottle or something… he had so much potential? maybe his attitude stinks?
Good game, really game for Hrvatska. Argentian plays the best players they have and Hrvatska did very well. As Slavonac said too many complainers on this site. I recall one guy on here telling us how we will get slaughtered by messi and his gang.
Main game anywise is this Sunday but these guys played very well today and good to see. Good for Kovac. Bog i Hrvati.
they were booing erik lamela
I think that was an excellent performance by the croatia B team today. It shows that croatia has a solid foundation of future players to play for the national team. Other than duje cop, everyone played very well. I thought the back 4 (especially leskovic and jedvaj) were outstanding creating limited chances for the world cup runners up.
bravo hrvatska
Bravo nasi mladi!
Rebic can’t even get a game in 2nd division in Germany
messi should have changed jerseys with halilovic imo being a barca player and all
84′ subs
Leskovic off, Mitrovic on
Cop off, Rog on
are they booing that argentinian everytime he touches the ball or is it like a cheer type thing they do for him?
dunno his name but its blatent when he touches it
Kalinic with another fine save, this one off of a 25 yard blast from Mascherano… Di Maria had a piss poor attempt at the ensuing corner kick
we are playing argentina everyone wants the messi show of course calls aren’t going to go our way
i have to say kalinic looks legit.. first goal fluke… 2nd goal penalty against messi what do you expect… i personally think that wasn’t a foul but i was a goalie in hockey and think what hasek used to do was totally legit:)
Id say it’s safe to take the label “next Messi” down.
Nothing against Halilovic’s potential but Lionel Messi he is not.
re: Mascherano into Jedvaj tackle
only way/reason ref doesn’t call that a foul was because he had just played advantage for Argentina and they lost the ball immediately… right? that was too blatant otherwise, then again all the other calls have gone against us
you can see the potential in the kid for sure… i guess we’ll have a really good idea by 20… my guess he doesn’t become a superstar but if he accepts he is not messi and becomes himself and keeps the ego in check he can be a well above average player that helps the repka
However if Hallilovic joined Barca at 11 or 12 like Messi he’d probably be further along.
whats up with no rebic????
Sharbini off, Jajalo on in 65′
@IvicA Kalinic hit the players feet when diving for the ball, but I think he got the ball away first. I guess I could see that one called as a PK
the non-hand ball on the Aguero goal was total BS
and I would think Mascherano’s tackle on Halilovic in their box would be a PK
so quite a few bad calls this second half
^ ^
From what I remember.
WAAAAY better!
how good was messi at 18? was he heads and tails above halilovic?
if anything this will put more fire in the A squad to know there jobs are not guaranteed safe
2-1?
That’s OK.
Vi ar smol kantri. Vi šud bi hepi! Smol Smol kantri
Aaaaand Messi makes it two.
At least our Messi gets to play the real Messi at International level.
Playing against him has got to be worth something to our kids.
Was the Penalty legit?
I’ve always liked Jedvaj, and I’m not ashamed to say Vida too.
I like my backs athletic and super aggressive. Guys that can press high and get back.
Yet I’ve never cared for Lovren.
@Soul Champ
I’m with you on #5 all the way!
Messi scores off penalty kick
2-1 Argentina
that was clean by kalinic… seems like a decent goalie
u see jedvaj trick di maria like nothign… really this kid should be a starter by euro guaranteed
I think Zabaletta was offside there and it went uncalled, Jedvaj with the clearance!
Off the clearance, Alen had like a 60+ M dribble all the way into the box, where Mascherano shoulders him off the ball (again no call)
Alen again gets the ball and looks very dangerous and starts running straight to goal as soon as he receives the ball. His shot from inside the box was blocked however
So assuming this game stays as is…
Do any of Kovačić, Jedvaj, Badelj, or Vrsaljko get a crack at the starting lineup on Sunday?
nice run by the bosnian
jedvaj starting over lovren… he is an aniimal
a (not called) Handball goal for Aguero makes it 1-1
flukey goal
wheres rebic at?
Kovacic was subbed out, in comes Halilovic to start the 2nd Half
He’s actually Palestinian
fuck sarbini looks like a dirty albanian lolol
to be honest lets just hope it ends up a decent scoreline like now. cause you know they probably gonna open it up in the 2nd half
at least its getting guys that deserve a shot some playing time… and we can see a few of these youth integrating in sooner then later… nice to see we have a bright future
just hope our current talent mixes well with the youth and presto… kovac could come out looking like a genius… but could just be the boys that do it like someone earlier said
i can see it now… kovac going to suker and mamic. good job setting that game up… suker back to mamic and kovac, i thought you guys set it up… well if you didn’t set it up who did… 3 pizdas in a pod
Živa must be furious right now though, lol
Mamić yet again proves that good things happen to bad people. LOL. Even if Cro loses, I’m sure his agency has been taking calls already.
@Slavonac
Well I’d still rather pit our best against their best.
This was a surprise, yes, but I’m sure Kovač and the coaching staff are just as surprised as we are.
ok so far so good… still 9-10 times this is a retarded game to setup.
unless… the fix is in, suker paying them off to play week and our youth look better and cha ching!!!
Have not seen speed or quick one-touch passing from any Croatian side – ever.
I’m sure the 3-4 goals from Argentina will come in the second half, but that was refreshing to watch.
didn’t see much just turned it on…. defence looked pretty organized from what i saw? surely we can replace lovren sooner then later hahaha
mamic is already counting the sales like baba selling her tomatoes on the side of the road
IvicA- do you now see we have made far too big a deal about this team? as I said, even if they lose, these kids look decent!
1-0 HRVATSKA at half time
dream start for these players, what an experience. They will remember this for the rest of their lives
@Slavonac
Well hopefully Halilović can create a spark there.
@Slavonac the one thing I will say for the kids is a few of them have pretty damn good pace!
the boys have significantly dropped off in play…second half could be a tough one…hopefully not!
nobody is in support out on the right flank…it seems like Vrsaljko tries to create himself up that side….zero help for him!
Leskovic fouls Messi just outside the box basically right at the left corner… Messi fires in a shot to Kalinic who knocks it down and grabs it
@IvicA hopefully they pull Messi, he looks like he needs some rest (not!)
30 min in and Croatia’s B Team is still up 1-0 over WC 2014 Vice Champions Argentina’s A Team.
Those Gauchos must be pissed / embarrassed even if it is a friendly
I wonder if Argentina will keep their starters in the second half if if they’re still down.
I think it was Leovac not holding the line that just played Aguero in 1-1 who, thankfully, missed just wide of the right post… maybe 5cm outside
we always expected Argentina to play like they do but many here felt it was an embarrassment to field this team…win or lose its obvious these kids are decent!
Argentina really starting to look dangerous now… getting forward often and with pace. They missed a couple good chances
Damn.
Sharbini must have read my post.
very good game so far, argentina took the game too lightly so far. I definitely got kicked out of my class for not being able to hold in my cheer! ha! whoops!
this is the stream I am using:
http://www.rojadirecta.me/goto/www.tash-tv.com/?q=tash1
less lag/issues than the sportska one
I’m almost tempted to lay down a royal shellacking on mist of you but I’m smart enough to know the game is 90 minutes long!
the kids are doing good so far, I shit my pants everytime Argentina get the ball up front!
Very funny………….
I’m pretty sure it was GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL SHARBINI!!! not Jedvaj
Haha – play this squad against Italy – much quicker passing!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
GOOOOOL Jedvaj!
1:0 Hrvatska!
im not pissed, i dont care its a friendly, all im saying is: rabbit ce nam pick
@Slavonac
If it were Canada, then no, I would not be upset. Playing Canada is a pointless chore, not a once-in-a-decade opportunity.
@idemo
Yes. People should be pissed at both scenarios that you’ve listed.
When was the last time a team has ever played their B team against a top-2 team in the World?
But this is not Kovač’s fault, and he absolutely made the right call by not risking injury to his A team. It’s just frustrating seeing such a wasted opportunity for an awesome star-studded friendly match between these two teams.
Kalinic…really man? that ship has sailed many moons ago!
Antolic/Sharbini over Halilovic?
Cop over Kalinic?
Why isn’t Strinic in Zagreb with the other ‘A’ squad?
and finally… COME ON LOVRE KALINIC! KEEP A CLEAN SHEET SO THAT WE CAN SELL YOU FOR SOME MONAAAYYY!!!
you get pissed when he plays the B team before a crucial match in a meaningless game against a power house
you get pissed when he plays our top boys and 2 get injured for sunday.
i cant tell if your just non possible to please or just plain stupid
a joj sto cemo dobiti po picki…..
Kickoff on the east coast is 2:45 PM EST. This site has a link to the game http://goatd.net/
does anybody know the eastern time kickoff??
if it wasn’t Argentina and it ended up being Canada…would there still be angry people? who really cares man and with that said, do we know who negotiated this, what the parameters were, was the entire savez involved or was this Suker…or Kovac alone…I just don’t see the point in all the analyzing/criticizing over this!
@Slavonac
People are pissed off because this potentially could have been an awesome game to watch Croatia play.
How often do you get a match with Argentina?
Last time we played them was about a decade ago.
The only benefit now is that our youngsters can be evaluated against the best… Unfortunately not all of our marquee youngsters will be playing. Instead we will have a 27 year-old Sharbini out there.

is this game being televised anywhere? kind of surprised its not on espn3
Slavonac from Canada : yes, the real game in on sunday
I have never in my life seen such whining over a exhibition game. I know that in many people’s minds this may look as a huge sign of disrespect towards Argentina, but who know what went on during the discussions between the two teams? do we really have to get so emotional over this exercise they are having in England today? is it really such a bad thing to have a “B” or “C” team playing one of the better teams in the world?
I just can’t understand why all the wasted energy spent on criticizing Kovac, the savez and anyone else over this….who really cares who they sent and why they did it…we sure do complain a lot!

what time is kick off EST?
Well I’m glad to see guys like Jedvaj, Vrsaljko, Halilović, and other youngsters playing in our friendlies (player development and experimentation are what friendlies are for)…
BUT,
The entire exercise will be moot if we’re literally playing every single youngster we can find without a plan or veteran core.
The idea should be to see who of these youngsters can play well with guys like Modrić and Rakitić (kind of like how Kramarić and Rebić showed us when we first capped them). Dumping Ćop up front with Sharbini, Antolić, and Milić behind him for support won’t actually show us anything.
Hopefully these guys each have the game of their lives.

i always love your commentary and optimism, but this line cracked me up. the day of a 5-0 loss to argentina will be the one that creates the new generation?
@Soul Champ.
You are on the ball. U Boj!!!!
Argentina was always good to Croats and Mardonna’s grand mother was Croatian. Let have a safe and fun game.
@Soul Champ
Love the way you look at things and I agree with you although I do hope that this match isn’t a farce.
Thrashing coming up
Call me crazy as some veliki Hrvati posters have …
I think this is auspicious for the repka:
1- we have more depth then in the history of modern day Croatia.
2- we have a chance to beat Italy in Milan with primed and rested core of international studs.
3- we get to see our young talent go against the best in the world. If even one kid looks good today it could be worth the whole exercise.
4- 12-11-14 will be the day known as when we create a new generation of senior ready players. After Sunday we have to close the chapter on the Srna captaincy. This is a big week.
5- if you do not love watching the Vatreni line up and take the field against any country then you are definitely not living a ZDS lifestyle.
For me Vatreni transcends who is in the shirt as it is who we are.
U Boj !
so we book shitty ass opponents when our A squad is playing and the best when our B squad is playing… boze moj
bunch of fucking dummies the savez is… seriously where they collectively dropped on their heads as babies
