In one of the tightest water polo matches you will ever watch (most of the match was tied), Croatia got ahead late to beat Hungary 10-9 in the gold medal game of the 2022 European Water Polo championships hosted in Split. It is the second time in history that Croatia have been crowned Euro kings.
———————————————————————————-
🇭🇷🏆 The Croatian water polo team beat Italy 11-10 Thursday night in Split in the semifinals of the European Championships!
The Croatian “Barracudas” will now play Hungary in the gold medal match Saturday. The only time Croatia has ever won the European championship was in 2010 when they beat Italy in Zagreb.
Great win by Croatia. Close match all the way, in the end penalty miss by Hungary with 2 minutes or so left on the clock was crucial. At the time we were leading
9 – 8 and had they converted the penalty it would have been 9 all, instead immediately we went to the other end and got a penalty ourselves. We scored to make it 11 – 9 and Hungary simply ran out of time. Great win and celebrations after the final whistle.

Congrats Croatia!!!
You know when finally said and done
The old gen put cro soccer on the map
But mandzo, luka, perisic, rakitic and others now have shown the longevity, talent, and heart of what a Croat warrior is
Give me luka and Perisic over Messi and Ronaldo and their BS anyday to build a team with
Curious to see who pans out to lead the next generation of Cro stars.
Probably Gvardiol, Sučić, Šutalo…and some combination of Šimić, Vidović, or maybe Biuk.
But every single year there’s a newcomer that hits the fold (like Baturina this year) so I wouldn’t be surprised if almost all those young prospects above were cast aside in favor of some new ones that suddenly come out of nowhere.
Agree with the names mentioned, however Biuk ??? Watched the guy so many times play for the national youth teams and Hajduk senior team and sometimes he’ll do something good during the match and then disappear. I have never seen him put in a brilliant performance for the entire match. His manager is doing a good job hyping him up to the Croatian Media. Overrated big time.
Some interest news and possibility for Grbic.

He is not really getting any playing time as a back up maybe he should make a move.
Speaking of Split.
Perišić is the most underrated player on the planet. World class for years.

He was Inter’s best player (or a close second best, if you favour Broz), in every aspect of the game, and they are surprised that the team fell apart without him !?!? WTF are they smoking in Milan? All they had to do is offer him a fair contract extension, and he would have paid them back tenfold with his quality.
Both Bayern and Inter were stupid to let him leave. When Bayern would not sign Perisic back to the team even Lewondowski was complaining about the decision saying that they were not going to find someone on the wing with that kind of experience.
Not surprisingly Inter are struggling without him now.
What is that old saying, you never really know what your missing until what you have is gone.
Perisic is a highly skilled, athletically gifted, super-competitor. Big games, small games, every game-the guy is hungry to succeed.
Never gives up and puts his adversaries in fear.
Anyone who discounts his ability does so at their peril.
Perisic = Legend
Bog i Hrvati
Great support for the team in Split. The key moment was in the 4th quarter with 1.34 minutes left on the clock and scores tied at 10 – 10. We missed a shot on goal but in the ensuing scramble the Italian goalkeeper submerged the ball which apparently is not allowed, and we were awarded a peterac or penalty if you like from which we scored the winning goal. The funny thing is that the referee that awarded us the penalty was a Serb. The Italians were furious with the decision, but overall I thought we deserved the win. Our goalkeeper had a superb match and made some tremendous saves.
Can we use the keeper in September for nations league???
Good one Dannyj.
Never really been a sport that I paid much attention to. But either way I hope that they win.
