Back my popular demand, Croatia’s handball squad has started the 2019 World Handball Championships in Germany and Denmark to a perfect 3-0 start. In their opening match, the Cowboys defeated a respectable Iceland side 31-27 with eight goals coming from Luka Stepančić. Croatia then handled Japan 35-27 with another eight goals coming from veteran Zlatko Horvat before beating Macedonia 31-22 Monday night in Munich.
Croatia’s next match takes place Wednesday at 12PM (ET) when they face group minnows Bahrain. Then the Cowboys will take on reigning Euro champions Spain Thursday at 2:30PM (ET) in what will surely be the group decider. Remember, all points earned in the preliminary group stage are carried over to the Main Round.
Croatia are expected to make at least the semifinals; where they have historically hit a brick wall. Last year while hosting the Euro Handball tournament, Croatia underperformed and finished 5th at the tournament. Two years ago at the 2017 World Handball championships, Croatia finished 4th after losing to Norway in the semifinals. Euro 2016 was a 3rd place finish and the 2015 World’s placed Croatia 6th. The Cowboys have not won a championship in handball since they took the gold in Athens during the 2004 summer Olympics.

Kalinic, who is rumoured to be on the way out, scored today for Atleti in Copa del Rey play.
(Team ousted after 3-3 draw at home v. Girona.)
“Napoli are reportedly demanding Sevilla commit to a €40m option to buy in any loan deal for Marko Rog.
According to CalcioNapoli24, Napoli also want a percentage of a future resale or the right to buy back Rog.
However, the website notes Sevilla’s purchase option will be lower than €40m if they opt for one of the latter.”
Now the “polish” rog is staying and it was all just a rumor…Or is it?
He’s “playing” ?
@maminjo Rog still has some time…he’s playing for a team that has a lot of midfield talent and the best option for him would be to go on loan to a team in the Bundesliga like Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, Mainz, or something like that…he’s a good player
Sevilla is a place I would have liked to see Kovacic loaned out to many years ago.
Rakitic, if you recall, also plateaued early in his career after his started strong at Schalke, and after a few years in Seville he suddenly blew up.
I don’t know if Rog has the talent to catch up to all the other Croats his age who are ahead of him now. We’ll see what happens with him.
God bless rukamet and our beloved cowboys but there present is draining our basketball pool.
Robo Rog on the move:
We’ve given the ‘OK’ to loaning him out. We feel it can be a good option for Marko. The player told us he wanted to play in Sevilla, but we can’t give him away.
“He can spend the next few months in Seville, but then he’ll be back with us. We don’t want to include an option to buy, and we’ve said that to him and Sevilla.
“Marko arrived in the summer of 2016 and we’re convinced that he’ll end up breaking out.
“He’s a player we have a lot of confidence in, so we don’t want to get rid of him. We’re not going to give anyone away.”

Rog is beast and will be a plus for us.
