CORRECTION: Dynamo Kyiv defeated Metalurg Donetsk in the Ukrainian Cup; not Metalist Kharkiv. Monaco do not sit atop the French Ligue 1. I meant to say towards the top.

Dinamofan:)
I don't think Budan was given a fair chance for the national team. Igor would come off the bench and failed to impress in limited time of action. He looked like he was trying to hard out there. However, at 29 years old his time is ticking. Igor has been banged up with injuries the past few years and never settled down with one club. I still think it will take more than a few goals in the next few weeks to impress Bilic and get a call for Kazakhstan and hopefully playoffs.
Your request has been approved. "Lokomotive Moscow's Tomislav Dujmovic" will be in next weeks edition of "Croatians Around Europe."
"I think Ivan Rakitic needs to transfer to a side like Hamburg. He will be extremely settled there. "
I agree.
Also, great job week in week out on the HNL Report. I knew you were the right man for the job.

"some players play better at clubs & some play better at International level"
This explains Petric and Olic. How about Cristiano Ronaldo? He was far better for Manchester than Portugal. This qualifying campaign Ronaldo is yet to score. He doesnt have one goal next to his name. Lets not be to critical of Olic and Petric. Ivica does the same game in game out. Petric is an on/off switch.
Slaven
Thanks for the feedback. Ante and I are always looking to spice up the site a bit, sometimes we miss. Ante did a great job with Croatians Around Europe on video, however, he tried to make something out of nothing. We are still experimenting. I appreciate your comment. This weekend Croatians Around Europe will return with a bang.
Petar Radman
Are you calling for Ivo Ilicevic for a debut on Croatian Around Europe?
Adrien
Thanks for the link
Leonin
You can send pictures to paluka81@yahoo.com
Also, email me if you are still interested in doing Belgium. We will be glad to add you on the board.
Alex
Thanks for the suggestion. Ante and I will work on this.
Ante
"And we're not slipping, that was a one time experiment."
exactly.
Michael
Thanks for the support. I am not sure on the Eduardo ban. I think they goofed by giving him two games, and UEFA didn't want to hear shit from HNS so they lifted the ban. I still feel it was a flop. As long as Eduardo kept his arms down, he would be innocent.
Vatreni
"As everyone else has mentioned defense is where we must find players to slowly come into the national squad.."
I agree. The future of our defense looks….. I don't see a future.
thanks.
Regards Petric i think we do need to find a way to get the best out of him. We saw good stuff from him in Euro 2008 qualifying. His current situation is he is sub until he proves himself again in a Croatia shirt. An unknown HNL1 player, you serious. Are we talking Karlovac players cos hardly anyone has got anything going in HNL1 so far. Apart from Mandzo the other Dinamo strikers are not Croatian so that rules them out. Hajduk can barely find a striker for HNL1 no mind for Croatia and if we look at highest scorers so far this season, Asim Sehic is Bosnian, Nino Bule is 34. Basically there is nobody to select based in Croatia for Petric's position.
Budan i reckon is being monitored by Bilic. As Budan says the goal at the weekend is the start of something, but he's not reached the top of the mountain yet. He needs to stay fit and bag 4 or 5 before Kazak match to stand a chance.
Klasnic i don't believe is the same style of player as Budan. I think Budan is much more powerfully built than Klasnic and Klasnic really does not like physical play. Klasnic deserved the call for the last matches, but its a clean slate now for the next matches. I believe Budan, Klasnic, Kalinic and Bilic all start from same position and whoever gets selected is purely based on who scores the most between now and Kazak game. Perisic is needed in Croatia's Under 21 Euro qualifying campaign. Especially should we need to promote Badelj.
Sorry I meant I may agree with you if Petric was playing in a country like Israel or Cyprus..
Good news for Budan and Perisic scoring this weekend..Budan is a strong a physical forward that we currently lack with Eduardo, Olic, and Petric..I guess Klasnic would be more similar to Budan..I like Igor because he really hustles and fights out there..When I watch Klasnic it looks like he doesn't even want to be on the field..Hopefully, Ivan can score some goals for Bolton and get more confidence…He started well with Nantes so I'm curious to see his transition in the EPL..Our forwards are not what I'm worrying about..We have alot of firepower up top..As everyone else has mentioned defense is where we must find players to slowly come into the national squad..
@razor5556 You're overreacting a bit..Petric is a world class forward and Croatia has very few players at his level..He's a great finisher and he's playing with confidence at the moment..Currently, he is the second or third striker for Croatia after #1 Eduardo and #2 Olic..He's 28 years old and he has at least 4 more years playing for the national team..Did you see the goal he scored this weekend? He made Lehmann look like a fool..I thought Mladen did well against England..We started playing much better when Petric and Rakitic went in..I may disagree with you if Petric was playing in a country like Israel or Cyprus..This guy is scoring goals for a top team in the Bundesliga..
Petric has had enough chances, how many goals has he scored since Euro qualifiers against England,i think hes only scored 1 since then, that is pathetic, anyone whith this record does not deserve a place in the squad,id honestly be more confident in a NO NAMER from HNL getting a goal before Petric,i have no faith in him what so ever..
i dont mean it in a good way..
i think they did it so if Eduado ever got a penal call against england that no on belived him ,grtz fifa you did it +)
You guys do an awesome job, for people who don't read/speak Croatian that well 🙂
Keep up the great work.
So now that Eduardo's ban has been lifted………what does that mean?
Did he get his ban lifted, cause of Rooney's dives his past few games?
Was it just UEFA succumbing to big club pressure?
dinamofan – Bosko's career is done. He'll have some time in Greece (I think he's on Panionios GSS), he may go to MLS for awhile
Hey Ante
I am acutally with you on it being time consuming. I had my idea with the Croatian soccer Facebook page, but have missed the last few weeks cos its so time consuming. The video you did isn't a bad idea, just the other idea was better. But i think you should maybe use the video idea on times where its like been a slow news week or something. Its up to you. Yeah thanks. I enjoy doing the HNL1 news. Would prefer it as it is mainly as i like writing:)
@ Slaven,
Thanks for letting us know you like the classic approach. I'm with you on this one. It's just so time consuming.
And we're not slipping, that was a one time experiment.
Now let's see if we get anymore positive/negative feedback from anyone else.
Cvitanich's great grandfather was Croatian, making his grandfather is Croatian. His father is partly Croatian and mother entirely Argentine. He was born in Argentina. That's not good enough to represent Croatia through FIFA ruling. However Cvitanich was given a passport a year and a half ago, but unless he lives in Croatia he's not eligible that way either. To cut a long story short the only country he can represent is Argentina, which is not a long way off as it stands:)
As for Budan, Klasnic and Kalinic, being bench players – they are, but with the potential to become first teamers at their clubs. Especially Budan is only sub due to injuries, but as his fitness starts to improve he stands a greater chance to start.
@ dinamofan:),
We will not tough the HNL reports. You're doing a fantastic job and it's your call. That's officially your post. So it your call from here on out.
@ Alex,
We run CSR on Blogger and all videos we make come from Ustream.
I also have an iPhone and I know foreign formats suck. We're going to stick with this format for now. However, I'll ask out 'tech guy' if we can change any formatting ourselves.
@Leonin,
You can definitely do Belgium for us. Email whatever you have to croatiansoccerreport@gmail.com.
Hear from you soon!

EDUARDO NOT A DIVER =D
I mean, I like to see the summary as it was before where every Croat around Europe was profiles week to week. Putting up a couple of videos is not what I'm used to from here. What happened to the good, complete, reporting of all Croats in Europe? It's slipping.
Denis and Ante,
Since you are looking for suggestions, It would be great if you could tell the web designer to put the "…in europe" video in Quicktime instead of Flash so that those of us with Iphones can get it on the go…
if you would like i can make the part from belgium for croatians around europe every week.
it think petric is one of the best options we have atm, he just needs to play more for croatia. the othe r players like klasnic, kalinic, budan they are just subs for their clubs. and if they make a goal is mostly an easy one,(remark me if 'm wrong).
perisic scores for his new club with club brugge against genk (1-1 FT).
what about that dario cvitanich guy from ajax he scores 3 times this week against roda jc, is he croatian or what?
is there an email i can get for pictures that i found for croatian around europe?
Ante, i think what Slaven is saying is that the layout of the usual Croatians around Europe looks quite cool and its interesting to see all the games you talk about in your peice. Its understandable what you're saying about the copyright, but nogometni magazin rip of stuff loads so can't see why CSR won't be able to get away with it too. Its up to you, but i think i prefer the other idea as well. I definitely hope the way my reports on HNL stay same. It looks good like that.
Re: But we have dropped him i think haven't we. We dropped him to the bench. I think prob not drop him from squad, but i wouldn't have fielded him against Belarus. Bilic should leave hit sitting their once in a while. I'd also say Mandzo didn't particularly deserve playing time. That Hearts display was particularly poor from his. He's also looked a little jaded after starting the season really well.
Is he playing with more freedom in HSV. Yep of course as its not like international football which is a one off match which he have to be on it all the time. In HSV he can correct a bad performance a week later.
@ Slaven,
Thank you. That was the type of feedback we were looking for. Remember that Denis and I can only watch a handful of games every weekend. Therefore, the rest of the news and stats we put up for Croatians Around Europe is purely news based from the internet.
Did you like the video at all? Would it be better with another anchor. Remember: this videom ran 14 minutes. If we got more in depthe it could get close to half an hour.
We will do a live broadcast that everyone can be a part of in the next 2-3 weeks.
What else would you like to see from us to improve Croatians Around Europe?
Arsenal's appeal has been accepted and Eduardo's 2 match ban has been retracted!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8236689.stm
Hopefully that will silence the boo-boys and put this discussion to rest.
Hey, I am not saying throw Petric away and never look at him. There is something clearly wrong when you look at his performances for club and country. Bilic has to find some way to motivate this guy. Maybe dropping him for a match so he gets the desire back, perhaps you look at the tapes and see what his role is for HSV. Is he playing with more freedom in Hamburg?
Re: Michael
Hehe you had my looking for Bosko's weekend performance there. I thought he did something for a change. I'm a fan of Klasnic, but that Terry incident is the second involving him. He also kicked a Turkish player off the ball. I'm not sure on Klasnic's state of mind. He seems a frustrated player. If Budan scores in Italy i think we should hand the jersey to him. I think Budan is hungrier than Klasnic, but it all depends who scores most. 1-0 to Budan at the moment.
Side note:
Klasnic has had 1 game in England and came on as a sub with a 3-1 lead and 20+ minutes left.
So give Klasnic some time
My suggestion to bring back Balaban was purely a joke 🙂
Re: Peter
Hehe i have to admit i've not been comfortable either with Petric's performances for Croatia during and since Euro 2008. His performances before then were good, but basically i can't bring myself to say we should kick out a player that scores that many goals in both the German league and in Europe year after year. I mean someone suggests Bosko as an alternative. That says it all. Considering Keric slow start, Klasnic and Kalinic not done anything yet in England, Ruki's lack of football. Basically who do we bring in to replace Petric. I think we should test him against Qatar. If its another poor performance, then we should turn to someone else as first sub.
@ DinamoFan – Odd couple of bad games here and there for Petric? I am curious when those good games were? Nobody is disputing his talent. However, 90 percent of the time he looks awful for Croatia. How many of his goals scored from Croatia came against Andorra?
Bring back Balaban.
Ivo Ilicevic had an outstanding game for Kaiserslautern on Friday. Played the whole match and was inspirational throughout.
Part of Olic and Petric's problem might be tiredness. They play a lot of matches when there sides go on big cup runs. If we improve our squad we can chop and change things which may then help us to get the best out of players as they are rested more. I don't think you can dismiss a player like Petric. We'd just look silly with him scoring 30 goals at club level and we've got some guy who barely scores in Belgium or something ahead of him. Will just look bizarre. The Croatia squad is not that in depth that we can go around punishing guys like Petric for the odd couple of bad games he plays here and there. He just needs to sit it out for a few games whilst we take a look at other games. I think we should however play him against Qatar to check out his form. If he scores against Qatar we should keep using him regularly from bench, but if not and he plays bad we should give someone like Budan a chance from the bench. Mandzo had a really bad game for Dinamo against Hearts lately as well which really warranted him getting no playing time for Croatia. We basically don't have enough players more deserving than Petric of a place in the squad.
Wow, this is not a complete report of Croatian's around Europe, is it? I'm disappointed. Usually it's a "bit" more thourough. wtf
I couldnt agree more about the Petric comment as to why he can deadly playing for Hamburg & be hopeless in Croatian Colors,& the same goes for Olic,I believe Petric will never produce the majic he does for Hamburg, honestly it would be great if i never seen him in the squad again, hes just a waste of space & never lives up to his club form, some players play better at clubs & some play better at International level..
Podolski is a classic example of this,he is amazing when playing for Germany but when playing for his club,he struggles to find form,Petric is the opposite,& i do not see things getting any better for him,its time to find some 1 who will make there presence felt while playing International,u just have to give them a chance..
The good point about Rakitic is that he's not tied to any club, so he can bolster any club's midfield for a run at Europa League/Champions League.
Great to see Budan score. I think if he can get 4 or 5 in time for Kazak game and Kalinic and Klasnic are floundering then we select Budan. As you say i'd prefer quite frankly to have a hungry player like Budan who is keen to come from bench and make the most of his time rather than a frustrated player like Klasnic who feels he should be playing more in the national team. Its a lot better for team spirit. Budan is also a real physical presence which is an alternative to what we currently have, so if he keeps it up i feel there is a place for him.
Perisic i don't believe deserves to be in squad but he does deserve to start every Under 21 match and its scandalous that he doesn't. Petric i believe deserves his Croatia place, but we need to work on how we get the best from him. This is now his 6th goal in all competition already. He will hit around 25 by end of season so quite frankly we overlook a player like this. I've also not entirely ruled out Mate Bilic. Basically we should select the 5th striker by who scores the most as all those options are playing in similar standard leagues now. Its more easy to compare.
Ante/ Denis i think you should make a new list of players including Lokomotive Moscow's Tomislav Dujmovic as some of these guys are well out of it at their clubs. Dario Simic and Leko will never get back in Monaco again. Leko is only just back in first team training cos Monaco's sporting director forced the coach to take him back. However he clearly doesn't want him. If we see where Monaco are placed then basically just like with Spartak and Schalke we have to accept this is the right decision for their club.
I think Ivan Rakitic needs to transfer to a side like Hamburg. He will be extremely settled there. Magath is doing a good job at Schalke so can't really complain. Not a problem regards Pranjic cos Bayern have to rotate their squad.
