IVICA JOINS THE CSR TEAM
Our favorite friend from Long Island, New York, Ivica Peroš, is now CroatianSoccerReport’s newest permanent writer. Ivica has helped CSR tremendously the past few months and has shown that he can handle the workload. More importantly, CSR’s most critical Prva Generacija members approve of Ivica. Hvala Bogu! CSR has expanded from just Denis and Ante to the ‘Guru of the Prva Liga’, dinamofan, as well as Ivica in only 22 months since its launch. With daily battles between Peter Radman, Ante BBB, Živa Istina, Ciganski Bosanac and HvarSplićan, things should stay warm here on CSR as the winter cold draws in and a Croatia-less World Cup approaches.
CSR ran a report last week on Ryan Rosenbaum’s 90 yard goal for SMU in their 3-2 defeat of Tulsa. Croatian papers got a hold of the story this week as both 24 Sata and Dubrovački.hr reran our article in Croatian. I’m not here to blow our own horn, as 24 Sata is far from where CSR wants to be, however, we are making remarkable progress in getting our name out there and it wouldn’t be possible without the endless comments and time our most dedicated followers put in. We here at CSR thank all of you for staying with us.
Denis has just flown out to Croatia and is currently working on receiving a field pass for this weekend’s clash between Dinamo and Hajduk in Split. The HNS has already recognized CSR as a legitimate source for Croatian soccer- now let’s see what the Prva Liga officials have to say about it.
IN OTHER NEWS…
Current HNS president, Vlatko Marković, has said that the last year of his contract, which is coming up, will be his last. Finally! We need some new blood in the federation. However, right now would have been the ideal time to step down. Why stick it out four games into Euro 2012 qualifying when the entire national team and federation can start with a clean slate now?
IS ŠUKER OUR MAN?
It’s another dark day for Dinamo as UEFA have stripped the Croatian champs the three points they earned in Romania in their 3-0 win over Timisoara for fan misconduct. UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body ruled that Dinamo Zagreb would also have to play their next two home matches in the UEFA Europa League behind closed doors. UEFA deducted three points from the Croatian club’s points tally in Group A leaving them now with zero through three games. The club was given three days to appeal against the decision.
Does UEFA really hate Croatians? First Eduardo’s flop and now this. It sounds a bit harsh to me.

Yeah, the point is, it should have never got to the point of Lovren and Kovac having to be on the line. Butina should have been waiting there to simply catch the header or tip it over the bar. I never thought much of Butina, but, that was all him, he put the team under pressure on that play. I dont blame Lovren for kicking Kovac, or if Kovac had kicked him. They are scrambling to cover up Butinas error, while also panicking to make sure they get to the ball in time, make sure no Hajduk players beat them to it. I dont think they have time to start yelling back and forth who has it, first instinct, just kick the freaken ball and be the first one to it. Lonacric has had his fair share of problems off the field a few years ago, but still is better than Butina. Neither of us should really be surprised, it is Butina. The reason for my reaction is, its hard enough for youngsters to make it through Croatia due to all the heavy pressure and criticism that is thrown their way constantly. That being said, I will rush to the defense of Lovren, If I feel he was not to blame. he is a player that does represent the future of our National Team
I agree with your assessment that Mamic may have to go. He has done some good things for Dinamo, but, the same problems seem to always rear their ugly head. I dont know if the goal tending position has ever been solid over the past few years. Koch seemed to have a cult hero status though. Mamic has stuck with Sammir for far to long. the best thing he has done recently was hiring Jurcic. get rid of Sammir and Butina, then start spending the money on better players. Slepi and Pap were always a stretch. I would rather see them spend it on a hot shot, someone really young that is trying to make a name for themselves and make the bigger move abroad, rather than guys like Slepi and Pap that seem to take the paycheck and appear lackadaisical and easing into retirement.
I felt bad for Jurcic, he had the right idea. During the second half, you could hear him saying that he wanted the play moved from left and right, trying to expose the room with the extra man. Post game he also said that his players have very poor reactions to adversity. They resort to the long ball when they are in trouble. That tactic will never work, especially when you dont have a big target man. They were expecting far to much from Kramaric with that tactic. Reja countered it all beautifully and asked his players to follow the movement and synchronize their movement from left to right accordingly. I think Badelj is playing to far back as well, he needs to play a bit more advanced. By the time he gets the ball they seem to expect him to pass 2-3 players before he can actually make the killer pass, far to much work for any creative player.
okay, I am out, have a good day gentlemen.
What was with the need to kick Kovac in the head when he could have cleared it off the line. Butina is rubbish so what do you expect. Its just Butina isn't it.
As soon as Butina dove for a ball he would never get, thats when it became his error, when he put himself grossly out of position. The guy cant read the path of a cross, thats why he is a poor goal keeper.
How the hell was that Lovrens fault? If Butina stays on his line, if he reads the play correctly and can see, like any decent goalie, that the play is being taken care of and he will never reach the ball in the first place, he can simply catch Lovrens header or tip it over the bar.
Although that was Lovren's fault. He put the ball towards his own goal and then kicked Kovac in the head when he was trying to clear. Basically Lovren has his good and bad games, but its going forward where the problem was yesterday.
Hajduk needed that win cos the league is starting to split. Cibalia, Sibenik, Belupo, Osijek all found form. Hajduk needed a win to move away from the likes of Zapresic, Zadar, Medimurje. Hajduk were safe when everyone was beating each other, but now the top half are starting to beat the bottom half so Hajduk need more consistency now otherwise Sibenik particularly will run.
If i was Jurcic i wouldn't even care if Butina is a senior player. I'd recall Keleva from Lokomotiva and start him ahead of Butina. Butina is rubbish. I'm glad he's out of contract end of season. I can't believe Loncaric is out injured. He was playing extremely well. We had fixed the keeper problem. We require a overhaul of the squad in the winter.
As usual i always look at the progression of the team rather than a solitary defeat. Yesterday showed how poor the signing of Papa and Slepicka was. When Mandzo is not there the strikeforce is poor. Sivonjic showed that perhaps as a sub and considering his low wages he is worth keeping on board, but Slepicka and Papa have got to go. There has been talk of Jurcic's job under threat, but if anyone it should be Mamic who should walk. His signings recently have been pathetic and Jurcic plays no part in the signings. Its with Sammir, Papa and Slepicka where the side has fallen down. I was 100% in favor of Slepicka playing yesterday cos its time he was given 1 month to save his Dinamo career. But he's justifying us kicking him out in the winter. Papa is just the same. At least with Slepicka he can say he scored 7 goals in a Dinamo shirt since he arrived, but Papa hasn't even managed that in virtually same number of games. If we kept Bosko and Sokota i personally don't see how they would have done any worse than Slepicka and Papa. I think we wasted money in released Bosko and Sokota and also wasted money again in signing Slepicka and Papa. We could have invested that money in Zec ages ago and would not even be talking now about how to get rid of Slepicka and Papa. I also have been really disappointing in Sammir this season.
@ Ante Kvartuč – I never paid for a shirt.
@ Ivica – Despite the negative comments, stick with the tie. I like the professional approach. You can switch to the Croatia jersey once the National Team is up and running again.
@ Zach G – Caught the end of the Man U game. Kalinic was robbed of a fair goal.
Hajduk Wins!! Very poor refereeing today. Hajduk looked very good with 10 men, perhaps they should play all games with 10 men. Butina totally hung Lovren out to dry on the first goal.
It was a crazy day in the Prva Liga, the Yellow and red cards were flying, a back and forth game between Slaven/Rijeka and Osijek/Varteks. Sibenik also closed the gap on the leaders. Allot of drama!
Anyone know why Klasnic wasn't even on the bench for Bolton today?
Kalinic socres, clearly onsides, and they take it away.
Is Ivica a Mormon, or Jehova's Witness? If I catch him coming around knocking on my door I'll sick my neighbour's poodle after him.
HVAR SPLICAN!! I LOVE YOU MAN
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL MY FANSSSS AND THANKS FOR INCLUDING MEEE IM SOOO PHUCKD UP RIGHT NOOWWW JACK DANIELS DOES THE TRICK WOOOOOOOOOOO
The one and only: CIGANSKI BOSANACCCC
Funny how at least half the Croats I know (myself included) hate wearing neckties yet it's a Croatian invention.
@ Ante BBB
Thanks a lot!
Ah yes, the shirt and tie. What can I say, I had to make a good impression. Ante and Denis are all business lol!
@ Ante BBB,
That was the pic I took of Ivica during his interview. He was going for the professional approach. He can now wear checkers in pictures. 😉
@ Peter Radman,
I need your address so I can send you the shirt.
Ivica, congratulations!
Not to say you look bad but this is CSR!! Get rid of the tie and put on a Cro jersey!!
We don't want any of that tie stuff here 🙂
Yeah i'd buy into the conspiracy theory too if it wasn't for losing to Brann, Hearts and Auxerre recently as well. Plus Anderlecht and Red Bull. If we can't beat these sides we don't deserve Champions League football.
Mandzo's out of the weekend game which definitely means a game for Kramaric. I think we should pare him with Slepicka cos i still don't wanna see Papadopoulos and Sivonjic starting after last weeks display.
On appeal they'll give the 3 points back. Still, this has been a long time coming- if the BBB want to behave like children they should be treated as such.
And stop with the conspiracy theories, please. No ones conspiring against Croatia- truth is, no one even cares enough to conspire against Croatia. On the club stage we're minnows. Since when are Werder and Shahktar top European sides? When's the last time either got out of the group stage?
…Muku muce da nas sprijece, sprijeciti nas nitko nece..
DINAMO!
I actually agree there. Those matches actually were a bench mark as to whether Dinamo deserved to be in Champions League or not. I'd never complain about that. You get who you get. That's life. Bremen and Shaktar were both beatable if we were good enough, but Shaktar particularly wiped the floor with us. I have said this many times that i don't want Dinamo in Champions League until we produce a side worthy of it. At present we are getting competitive football in Europa Liga. At the end of the day who wants to get slapped around by Real Madrid and finishing bottom of the group as there yearly dose of Euro football. I'd rather we be in Europa Liga and was enjoying it until this annoying points deduction.
I'd say some BBB are not football fans. Ultras do not just attract football fans, there is other reasons for them being in BBB that just to follow Dinamo. Some of these people are far detached from our club and hate Mamic. Some of BBB could not name our line up, so its not fair our players should suffer. Its not every fan thats doing this. I have no problem that we play behind close doors, but give us our points back:(
there is no conspiracy to get dinamo or cro soccer.
Afterall, it is the Champions League. Who do expect to have them draw since they are not a seed. Its not like
Roma, Fiorentina, Werder Bremen, and Shaktar have made deep runs into the Champions League. At some point you have to play a quality opponent to make an elite competition. If dinamo was worth anything they would have beaten one of those opponents over the years.
Do you honestly think UEFA really cares about having this many romanian sides in Europe? No, way…so, lets stop the crying about uefa not wanting cro or punishing us too much.
To me, it very easy….hey fans, if you misbehave your team will be punished, no questions asked. Well guess what, you misbehaved and now your team will be punished. if someone tells me not to do something or risk being penalized, what do you think i will do. I guess the BBB are just not smart enough to figure this out.
I agree with Ziva Istina on this one. As I said, the 2 matches to be played behind closed doors has been something that Uefa has handed down numerous times the past 10 years. I still think the 3 points is excessive though. If you are trying to teach the hooligans a message, which seems to be the point, then, yes, you ban them from attending matches.
I still believe that Uefa has a grudge against certain countries. Uefa, Fifa and these other large regulatory bodies are still power structures. If you fall out of line with their way of thinking or dont obey their bidding, I am pretty sure that they will punish you accordingly. That is an opinion even the Italian Sports minister and head of the Italian FA have been saying for years. You can go throughout the world and see that certain countries always get the calls, or favorable draws. Just look at qualifying period this year, suddenly when some of the world elite powers may not make it to a 2010 World Cup which is already being called a financial disaster; suddenly they decide to seed the second placed teams. Uefa is always helping the big rich nations, you cannot deny that.
The craziest thing for me is, just look at who teams from Croatia have had to play in Champions League Qualification over the past 12 years. Arsenal, Roma, Fiorentina, Manchester United, Werder Bremen, Shaktar. The list can go on and on. Aside from Red Bull this year, I cannot recall another year where they faced a team that wasn't of the highest caliber available. This year being the only exception in my mind because the new Uefa reforms only came into practice this year. To constantly be given opponents of that quality is a statistical improbability. Year in and year out teams from Croatia have played what is widely seen as "Pot A" teams. To me, that is the subtle hint that Uefa does not want Croatians invited to the party. To be honest, if you are trying to sell advertising space world wide, do you want the world tuning into see Dinamo v Real Madrid and hearing monkey noises every time Lassana Diarra touches the ball?
ziva – I don't try to make excuses for Bad Budala Boys. They made their own bed and they have to lay in it.
Thanks for clearing up the RB fine issue.
And just remember, Inter got a 3 match ban for their actions.
The previous post was mine under my previous Gmail account.

Hehe you can't fine Red Bull for that bottle cos that was so funny. At the end of the day what's the whole point of the groups like BBB and Torcida. If you pull apart their whole reason for existence all they will do is fight back. Its a no win situation. If Dinamo tells them to sit quietly and behave themselves all the other groups will be pointing laughing at them. Personally i give up. Nothing interesting or fun is coming out of Croatia this season. Everyone might as well just pack up and come back in August.
Andrej……what clubs in Italy, Spain and Engalnd have a consistent history of violence. Name one team that has consistent trouble like dinamo. You can't. Let's quit crying and making false claims UEFA is out to get us….they are not. If the BBB knew how to act civilized and behaved, none of this would be an issue. And lets stop with the "being provoked" card. What are we in 5th grade. These uneducated pederi go looking for trouble. I have seen it with my own eyes both in Croatia and outside the country. Oh, is Feyenoord is eastern europe?
RB received a fine for their actions. That club does not have a history of their fans acting like idiots, the BBB does, so a club like RB gets looked over.
Lets stop with the excuses and realize the BBB are a bunch of wimps who find power in numbers.
I posted that we hit 1M Euro's in fines since 1998…………that's a LOT Of money that could've been used for more useful crap.
The BBB were provoked big time by the Romanians………but I think their history proceeds them big time.
Did anyone find out if RB Salzburg got charged for throwing stuff on the pitch? Hitting the ref and Mandzukic on the head?
UEFA has hit us pretty hard. I cant say that we deserve it but man what a charge. 3 Points and 2 Games I mean come on. I wouldnt mind the 2 games but the points is what kills us and I dont think they are after us but they do hit us and eastern europe alot harder then they hit bigger english italian and spanish clubs….that is something i know we can agree on.
Get over yourselves if you think UEFA has it in for Croatia.
Partizan was thrown out of the Champions League a couple of years ago for their actions in Mostar and Feyenoord is out of europe as well, so quit crying about them picking on little dinamo or us hrvati. They are not. Maybe if the budale that call themselves the BBB knew how to behave none of this would have taken place. They deserve the punishment.
BBB, Torcida and all these other fan group are nothing but a bunch of unemployed punks who look to cause trouble.
UEFA = MAFIA
Jebo im majku lopovsku!
Also, how is Davor Suker going to run his camps if he is sitting behind a desk as HNS President (if this does actually happen)?
What can you do, it has been done.
Like I said in an earlier post, this point deduction should be a reminder to our NT navijaci to choose their actions wisely, home or abroad.
I think stripping them of their 3 points is very harsh. Having to play games behind closed doors falls in line with what Uefa has done to plenty of teams in the past. Dinamo will appeal, they should be given their 3 points back. Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont recall Partizan receiving any punishment for the Grobari beating a French fan to death, plus, all the countless troubles that are started by Delije and Grobari in foreign cities.
Personally, I have always felt that Croatia has been targeted by Uefa and Fifa. I am sure every nations supporters feel the same way.
its about time – while i won't deny that BBB are some of the best and most passionate fans and i don't think they start violence every time, but seriously when was the last time dinamo played an away game and there wasn't violence. this violence gives croatia shame on the national stage and needs to be stopped – without doing something drastic like this, there is no way that it will. now dinamo must do something about it rather than just let it continue as they get hit with soft fines.
in my opinion, we all need to get over ourselves. uefa doesn't hate croatia – this ban for dinamo is well overdue. eduardo getting suspended had nothing to do with him being croatian.
