On February 10th, fellow CroatianSoccerReport.com writer, Denis Svirčić, reported undisclosed information that Croatian midfielder, Ivan Rakitić, who also plays club ball with German side Schalke 04, is being courted by European powerhouse Inter Milan of Italy’s Serie A. Highly regarded world soccer website, Goal.com, barely confirmed this news on February 18th.
Now, I’m not trying to brag as this is only one small news rumor in a sea of thousands; but I do want to commend my colleague on such a great start to this blog.
CroatianSoccerReport.com is only 7 weeks old and we have already been approached by John Stevanja, a Croatian-Australian based out of Sydney, to collaborate with his soccer sites Keeper Skool and ZigaZoga. We have also just received confirmation from The Croatian Chronicle, who will be doing a story on us in the next few weeks. Galaxy beat-writer, Nick Green, who writes for the Torrance-based Daily Breeze newspaper, has also written nice things about us on his daily soccer blog, 100% Soccer.
Opinions are being voiced from L.A. to Toronto to Germany and even the Croatians in Zagreb are getting into it. I would just like to thank everybody for their support thus far and to keep in my mind that ‘Mission: Bring Croatia to the U.S‘ is possible and WILL HAPPEN if this support continues. So leave comments, say what you have to say and let’s show Croatia how bad we want them to come!
You are right, thats my mistake!
Anyways, lets get back on how bad of a move this would be for your future number 10, he does not need to be competing for a job with Dejan Stankovic, who is a great player and I doubt he will lose his job any time soon.
I think Ivan should stay in Germany at least till the next winter window.
In Sept. 07 goal.com reported the super rumor that Inter is just “keeping tabs” on rakitic. Now that hes playing well they are actually making a move to get something done in the summer.
forgot to add
I think it would be a horrible move for Ivan, considering Seria A is in a decline and 75 to 80% of the players are old. example crespo, cruz, buffon, del piero, etc.
Thats goals follow up to their 07 article, congrats on the fast start and all, just Goal reported interest in rakitic long ago.
