Ziva was not had, come on guys. We're having fun with this website just as you guys are. This isn't CNN or Anderson Cooper 360.
We passed by Bristol, found ESPN, hopped out of the car for 5 minutes and this is what we get. We don't have writers or scripts or anything like that. We're having fun. CSR will always have fans and will always have critics.
The reason it works so well because it truly is 'the people's site."
When we get interviews, your voices are heard, the real fans, not some producer behind the camera that needs to make deadline.
Bogut, Stimac, Kranjcar all had questions directly from Prva Generacija. CSR is growing at an incredible rate. In the past 30 days, we have had 23,000 visitors come to the site. We are working on a real framework of a website as CSR has outgrown Blogger.
Keep the feedback coming. That's how we got this far.
i wasn't had….you could easily see it was a joke. It was not funny at all, that was my only point. Be creative if you want to be funny. It resembled a high school freshman with a video camera trying to be funny.
If the boys actually want a tour of ESPN, I can make it happen for them next time. Although, trust me, half the on-air personalities are dicks at the mothership.
Guys, I was almost crying I was laughing so hard. Svircic, your deadpan while those two talked nonsense was spot on. Milosevic giving Ante the buffalo eye? You guys have a future in comedy.
Ziva, But thats not much different from senior qualification, is it (for pot 1 teams)? Slovakia and Serbia are 2nd pot teams while Norway and Cyprus are 3rd pot. Of course, we're so used to being 2nd pot that we just expect one of the elite sides to be in our group.
I hope you know this was all for shits and giggles. There was no "buffalo eye", there was no fight, there was nothing we asked or wanted from ESPN. Consider it an april fools joke.
I believe everything composed made a great deal of sense. But, what about this? suppose you wrote a catchier title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your website, however what if you added a post title that makes people desire more? I mean Croatian Sports is kinda vanilla. You ought to glance at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create article titles to grab viewers interested. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get people interested about what you’ve written. In my opinion, it would bring your website a little bit more interesting.
It is actually a nice and helpful piece of information. I’m satisfied that you just shared this helpful information with us. Please stay us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.
Toronto is 100% our next long-distance trip for CSR! Possibly next September. I don't think my Southern California wardrobe could handle Canada any other time of the year.
We will definitely keep you posted. Still over a year away. I might be married with (5 adopted)children by that time.
@alex,
Post was up about U-21 20 minutes before you commented on this. I agree with you. What bad luck. Croatia dominated the U21 qualifying group and now must face a top 4 European team for a place in the tournament.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but guess who the u21's had the "luck" of drawing for the playoffs; Spain… Instead of Iceland, Scotland, Belarus, etc., we get the Spain. It's too bad, these players worked hard to be 1st in group and it can(and will, probably) be all for naught. What a waste. I don't understand why the tournement isn't 16 teams.
I'm sure any of those would be fine with me. With enough notice, I could take the day(s) off work and grab some beers with you guys! I'd say make it for October, as the 7th vs. Greece will likely be for all the marbles!
@Kingbronk
Where in Toronto are you located and where do you watch when the Savez is playing? I usually drive up to Monoghan's in Oakville, the pub is owned by a Croatian guy.
I was just looking over the qualifying schedule. We are looking at September(2nd @Malta, 6th Israel) or October(7th @Greece, 11th Latvia). This is definitely doable.
ESPN gave us the cold shoulder for obvious reasons. Would have been nice to tour the facility. Please send me your email at paluka81@yahoo.com. I'm sure that CSR will return to Bristol in the near future.
Also, you are absolutely right about ESPN and soccer. ESPN has huge interest in the world Cup, La Liga and EPL. Why? Because viewers in America are tuning in to world class soccer. MLS has grown tremendously in only 15 years, however, is still miles apart from Europe/S America.
Once again, this video was just for shits and giggles and not to be taken seriously. I appreciate the feedback.
You are dead wrong about ESPN not caring about soccer outside of the World Cup and when they had the Cmapions League. They have the rights to La Liga and the EPL. They have spent some considerable money on their MLS production. One of the longest tenured on-air personalisties is a soccer nut and proudly promotes the sport on the air.
There is no interest in the US for MLS and the ratings reflect it. The average MLS match draws less viewers than than women's softball, WNBA, poker, and other 3rd tier events.
Saw this video before, found this really hilarious. Dennis F breaking up a fight then getting kicked out was classic. How dare Wingo try to start with Berman? Berman is a legend, screw Wingo. Dickie V story was great, I'M LOVING IT BABY!!!!
As for ESPN, yeah they don't give two shits about soccer unless its champions league final or World Cup. Maybe for the Euros, they will start to go crazy over but if it's not USA or Ronaldo then screw it. It's sad but what are you going to do. As for the Serb, well screw him.
if you guys really wanted a tour at ESPN, should have said something in advance. I have some friends and former colleagues that work on air and behind the scenes at ESPN. I could have hooked you up.
Dzieki za ciekawe informacje
@Vatreni PoLudilo
You still don't get it…haha..
First, "Mr. Istina" was not "april fooled" or "had too".
second, this wasn't an April fools joke. I just said "consider it" an April fools joke.
@Pintar,
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@Ziva Istina,
I'm still waiting for your email/contact info
@Ante Kvartuc
Well said… however, don't let that Buffalo eye get to your head.
@Anonymous
We are not coming to Toronto looking for a Mr. Anonymous…. Toronto just lost 2 points because of two anonymous requests…. in other words… sign in!
@Anonymous #3….
We appreciate the comment, please sign in..
Guys, I like your site and appreciate your enthusiasm but that segment was more painful to watch than the Croatia/Greece match.
Toronto is waiting

@ ROB & KING BRONK
I was at Monoghan's in May when I visited Toronto. I will be in Toronto again sometime between November and New Years. If you guys wanna hang, HOLLA!
@Denis
You got me, I'm the April fool!
Nice job.
Apparently, Mr. Istina was had too!

I agree with Ziva on this… credibility is important, and the "buffalo eye" bit should not ever be on the site by the owners IMHO.
Doing so opens you up to serious criticism, and potential scorn. It's very unprofessional. Remember, the Internet has a long memory.
Unfortunately you can't have it both ways… professional is professional, and if you're gonna have fun, make sure you are professional first.
Plus, I'm not sure what you expected ESPN to do? Whatever it was, it certainly wasn't "Buffalo eye's" fault.

@ Rob,

Slovakia, Norway, Serbia, Cyprus….not exactlly known as powers in the junior ranks.
WTF? That pessimism is so unlike you mr. Istina.
Ok, yes, you and Ante are just too quick…lol
we dominated, what on paper was, a weak group.
@Rob,
We will definitely keep you posted. Still over a year away. I might be married with (5 adopted)children by that time.

Denis, I second King Bronk. You and Ante need to haul up to Toronto already!

@King BRONK,
Just yesterday I was telling Fistonich "Our next stop is Canada, preferrably Toronto."
However, us California boys are not used to the snow. Also, unless the stock market helps us out, no more CSR until 2011.
@ziva istina
Just a fuck around video in front of ESPN studios. Obviously not to be taken seriously.

You guys lose credibility when you post amatuer videos like that. Not funny.
You guys are great. You need to come up to Toronto. You need to see our base in Norval!
