Former Croatia manager Zlatko Dalić is set to take over the UAE national team with reports of a €5 million per year deal.
The move makes perfect sense, as Dalić previously enjoyed tremendous success with Al Ain from 2014-2017, winning multiple domestic trophies and leading the club to the AFC Champions League final before beginning his legendary 9-year run with Croatia.
I heard he had offers from both Colombia and Mexico, so I was really hoping he chose one of them. Anyway, hoping he fails with the UAE now and that he gets paid well to do so.
Dalic had all the stars align . Not a fan but good for him to take the money when he can . Let’s see if he can actually coach anybody when he gets a bunch of trash bags in UAE
He did very well to salvage our 2018 qualification and get us into that World Cup.
We needed a guy who was diplomatic and could create a good atmosphere in the locker room.
He’s a consensus coach who works with his “senatori” to make decisions.
This is both good and bad.
It was great in WC2018 but we’ve been struggling a lot in the past few years (with the same issues over and over again) and it’s on the coach to fix this (and not the five borderline retired team captains plus Olić/Ćorluka).
I dunno if anyone will replicate what he has done for the repka.
