It looked good early. Marin Čilić won the first two sets against Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro in a match which would of brought Croatia their second Davis Cup title. And with Arena Zagreb rocking to an atmosphere that you would normally witness at a football match, the Croatia #1 lost the final three sets in a match that nearly lasted five hours to let Argentina back into the Davis Cup tie. Karlović then lost to Delbonis in straight sets in what will be remembered a dark day for Croatian tennis.
———————————————————
It’s the final day of Davis Cup and Croatia are one Marin Čilić victory away from lifting the title for the second time in the country’s history. In the best of five series, Croatia took control of the tie on Saturday with their doubles win over Argentina. Now, both sides will send their best player in match #4 with Marin Čilić facing Juan Martin Del Potro; who are both former U.S. Open champions.
Čilić wins and it’s all over. If not, a decisive fifth and final match will be played later in the day, most likely by Ivo Karlović for Croatia.
Hahahahaha Croatia with another NOTHING again. Typical . Croatians think they can actually win something….Please… go cook a pig. Yooz are good at that!!!
i didnt see this FB live but it sounds neat 🙂
Although Karlovic didn’t play in the 2005 final, he was a member of the team when Croatia won!
Argentina have never won a Davis Cup, so in my opinion they would’ve been hungry for this win, and that hunger for Argentina’s first Davis Cup is what I believe gave them all the edge they needed, so I guess they wanted it more means that Argentina were more hungry to eat of the Davis Cup, of which we have already eaten. Karlovic wasn’t as hungry as Delbonis.
Delbonis ranked 41, Karlovic 20. Do you really believe that Karlovic’s ranking is not due to his own efforts, but, because players aren’t “well prepared enough or skilled enough” to break his serve? Why would players not prepare well to break his serve?
@ Ante BBB and Faux Cro,
Ive been in love with FB Live since it came. We’re limited if the game isn’t on an actual tv…but I will use it as much as i can. I love how everyone can comment in real time.
And thanks for the feedback all day. It was fun hanging out with you all this morning.
“Argentina just wanted it more than Karlovic did!”
LOL @ the ‘just wanted it more’ comment.
Why do people still say this?
Karlovic is a one-trick pony who wins games if the opponent isn’t well prepared enough or skilled enough to break his incredible serve. It doesn’t correlate at all to how much ‘want’ somebody has for something.
Google Mark Cuban as he tears apart Skip Bayless for using that sentence. It’s a good video.
Good job with the FB Live.
Kvartuc,
More CSR Facebook live. That was a great move. Keep it up.
Well, there’s always a next time!!
We all know that Del Potro is one of the best players in the world, and that he’s more than capable of doing what he did against Cilic.
Argentina just wanted it more than Karlovic did!
We shoulda taken this Cup. Dontchya just hate it when mental midgetry rears it’s ugly head???
This is terrible!
So who’s the bigger mental midget dr ivo, cilic, or the savez for making it a home match for the Argentinians
well, this was hugely disappointing.. i kinda expected karlo to win and Cilic to lose today.. Del Potro is a great player but as it turns out Cilic had him beat.. sigh.. more disappointment, like most things in life.. what’s the point of life when u can’t win a euro or davis cup..
lol jk .. life goes on .. hope u all have a lovely day ! 🙂
Karlovic is awful.
@Gene Principe,
hahahaha
Cro crowd only makes noise when a song is piped in. Argentina fans are great.
ok now we’re fucked :_(
This is Cilic.
http://tinyurl.com/gmsxmql
if karlo wins no one’s gonna remember the famous cilic choke, they’ll just remember we were champs 2016 😀
maybe if we lose the tie
not looking great with karlo down a set but still got a chance
was that choke job so bad that doper cilic should be renamed choker cilic?
@ soul champ,
Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I love Facebook LIVE. Makes things so simple. And everyone can comment. So thank you for that. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
As for the crowd. Reports say the Argentines got 2000 tickets. But for a final, even tennis, your fans are going to bring it.
I remember in 2005 when the USA hosted Croatia in Los Angeles. The Americans didn’t know what hit them because we (Croatians) were chanting every point like a soccer match.
So I know first hand what 2000 pumped up fans can do in a small tennis venue. And it’s beautiful.
Cilic shit the bed. He had it. No excuses. But life goes on. I digress.
@ Ante
The stream was epic on your part.
CSR:
1- live stream
2- Croatians around Europe weekly
3- World class interviews
Portro was tough … but up TWO sets.
Must have been that Buenos Aires crowd … oh wait !
@ Svima
Worse home field advantage?
Empty stadion
Arena filled with traveling supporters
Argentine fans kept Potrò off the ropes and then he locked in.
Curious to see anti – climatic 5th match winner takes all.
well, that sucks.. hopefully karlovic does the job
remember last time we won in ’05
Ljubicic was team leader and in a similar position going into day 3, he also lost and it took Ancic to finish off the win
Čilić blew that quite nicely.
Anyone have a link to a HRT2 stream?
