After a 2-0 loss to West Ham at Maksimir two weeks ago, Dinamo Zagreb rebounded in a huge way with a 3-0 victory in Belgium vs. Genk. Luka Ivanušec got the party started in the 10th minute with patience in front of goal before he struck home. Mislav Oršić would bang a finely tuned shot off the crossbar before striker Bruno Petković converted a slow and cheeky penalty in 1st half injury time. Petković would bag a second penalty in the 2nd half to secure all three points for the Croatian champions.
With the result, Dinamo move to 2nd place in group and currently own the tiebreaker over Genk. Their next two matches are against Austrian side, Rapid Wien, who have yet to tally a point from their first two games. Dinamo can quickly begin to secure second spot in group with results over Rapid Wien over the next month as Genk will have to play West Ham twice – the best team in the group.
