Dinamo Zagreb did what they had to do. It wasn’t pretty but they managed to move onto the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after beating Armenian champions Pyunik 3-0 Tuesday night in Zagreb.
Dinamo will now face Red Bull Salzburg in the next qualifying round. The first leg should take place either July 28th or 29th in Austria. With Salzburg only a two hour train ride from Zagreb, expect lots of Dinamo supporters and BBB to be at the game. How will the BBB fair this time around in Austria compared to the friendly a few weeks ago?
I am not at liberty to comment on the Dinamo match as I was not able to catch it due to work. However, živa istina claimed that “the game was horrible to watch” as dinamofan:) replied with “Basically we did the job – end of story.”
MAKSIMIR WAS SILENT AND EMPTY AS DINAMO HAD TO PLAY BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
For those of you who watched the game, this is the place to discuss it. Was the first match in Armenia just a fluke draw for Dinamo or do they have a real problem at hand?
MANDŽUKIĆ, BADELJ & LOVREN PUT DINAMO IN THE NEXT ROUND
In other Croatian soccer news on the day, Ivica Olić scored a hat trick in Bayern Munich’s 10-0 annihilation victory over the Stuttgarter Kickers in a friendly. Check out the goals.
@Ziva istina and Dinamofan:)
Great battle. For some reason, I don't think you two understand each other. Ziva istina is a little pessimistic, however, he backs it up with rock solid facts. He doesn't like where Croatian football is going and where this money is being spend.
As far as 'shitting on his team', Ziva has spoken negatively about both Dinamo and Hajduk(his team).
@Claud
sadly, but I agree with you. Globalization is to blame for this and most likely will continue for years to come.
France is such a beautiful beautiful country. Sad to see beautiful cities like Marseille and Paris turning into Algeria and Senegal.
Vive la France! Ale le blue, Ale le Blue!
Feel free to comment anytime. Despite how Americans feel about the French, I am a supporter.
@Croatiafan:)
"hehe without the Africans, France would be as good as Albania. "
I beg to differ.
hehe without the Africans, France would be as good as Albania. Maybe its the French who should leave for being so crap. Some great white French guys emerging at moment i'm sure lol. Am sure those Croatian soldiers would turn the gun on themselves if they watched all star Croatian line up losing to Irish team and Hungarian team fecking 5 bloody nil. Can you remember that one? Hideous stuff. Is like walking around in a t shirt saying we're rubbish, but we're Croatian. Only the best Croatian players should play for Dinamo and Hajduk. The rest play with the also ran teams.
yes, Yes, I agree, here in France problem has gotten ridiculous. Look at our Nation French Football club. It is disgrace!! Terrible! It must change. I do not think Napolean, King LouisIXV, Sartre, Voltaire, Bizet etc, and especially Charles de Gaulle himself wis probably turning in his grave, if he was to see who is representing France. Is disgusting, a shame to our people. Ljudevit Gaj and Stjepan Radic must also be saddened, as well as all Croatian soldiers who fought for your freedom, terrible, a cancer.
Vive la Croatie! Vive Dinamo et Hajduk!! Tous les meilleurs!!
How ther hell can you root for a Zagreb Dinamo team, which is supposed to represent our beautiful capital and it's people and history, when they are signing mongoloids from not even European countries. It seems lately only mongoloids from that country with the world's ugliest soccer team…Brazil are being signed. Btw, if you are dumb, black, ugly and know only rudimentary Croatian, but have a big toothy grin and can kick a ball, come to Croatia, you will have a hot Croatian chick sucking your african smegma-stick in no time. Fcuk off all you one name Brazillian soccer players, as opposed to all other Brazillians who have 5 names. I love3 you Zrinka!Percy
No, Cernat was not a member of the championship side with Hajduk. Is he a good player…sure, when in shape.
The upcoming Portsmouth move is just another disaster for hajduk with the way the previous uprava wrote the langauge in kalinic's contract. Kalinic gets 25% of the transfer fee, that will be around 2 million. Only fucken hajduk sets up contracts where they give up anywhere from 25-50%. I know this was done by the previous regime, so hoepfully the new guys can learn something about management techniques. For too long the agents and managers have run the program at hajduk and have run that club into the ground.
RE: Hajduk happens to be my team and they are garbage."
With fans like this, who needs enemies?
As I have said many times in recent weeks, I am rather optimistic about the coming season for Hajduk.
Was Cernat not a member of the team the last time Hajduk won the League championship? Clearly, they have a history with this player and they're confident in his abilities. I suppose we'll see what happens over the course of the season. If he turns out to be a waste of money, then we can all criticize the move. Until then, I think we need to cut them some slack.
Hopefully Portsmouth will end this Kalinic saga and both the player and the team can move on.
Right now, all I can say is bring on Zilina.
By the way people i've not invented this Ziva Istina character to have a conversation with myself. I've said my peice. Someone else take the stage:)
The reason we did it (signing foriegn players) if you remember is cos we signed Mijatovic, Jese, Lucic, Vasilj, Karic, Poldrugac, Zekic (supposed HNL croat stars) and we absolutely flopped and hit 7th in the Croatian league. An all time low. Dinamo are supposed to be above the pack not amongst it. People like Etto, Morales, Sammir help keep us above the rest. Personally i don't even see who is better than them lot in Croatia. Even look at Sharbini right you was moaning about Rijeka losing with Lux side the other day. Well he was playing so that leaves a question mark over whether he is better than Sammir?
What i noticed about Papa is he is better than Tadic and better than Balaban. Therefore we should be better in attack with him. That means we should ideally be at next level this season. What i saw from Papa was him at least getting hold of ball and passing it out to wide men. Again it wasn't what you pay someone lots of money for – yes agree there. But with Balaban and Tadic they kept getting the ball taken off them so am hoping this guy you don't like will at least be a presence up front. I will judge him after 10 games though not 2 games when he doesn't even know the place yet. Whilst all this is going on, obviously we'll be monitoring the best in HNL this season and don't worry we'll head the queue if they are good players. Zagreb is a particularly interesting club at the moment – as that is purely all Croatian young talent club.
Personally though this season i think we had to buy a foriegn striker cos Vrucina and Kalinic were the only Croat strikers that hit over 10 last season and Vrucina is a gamble. The rest you don't basically touch them just yet like Krizman and Smrekar cos they truly have done nothing as you often put it. Even bringing back Davor Vugrinec is better than some of these Croat kids at moment. This season we'll see how the foriegn signings go, but Papa and Slepicka are under the micro scope and will forgive Sivonjic far easier for poor displays.
Regards Hajduk i think last season they improved a small amount. However they are in a similar position to us. They don't trust no young Croat striker to replace Kalinic either. Maybe you'll get a washed up Greek like Gekas or Charisteas too. If you want to gamble on a Croat like Smrekar and slide down to where Varteks were last season then thats the other option. Personally if we take Papa this season and wait for the next Croatian star to emerge that's our decision for this season.
Hajduk happens to be my team and they are garbage. Dinamo is ten years ahead of them in terms of knowing how to run a soccer club.
back to Dinamo….well, spending 1 mil is not peanuts to dinamo or any team in the cro league. That's the problem…the money could have been spent more wisely. Its one of the biggest reasons dinamo fans dont attend the teams matches with the exception of the hajduk games. They take in these stranci over home grown players. I have no problem taking in some player not from croatia who has talent, but these guys have failed (recent history) and at a pretty good price.
And hajduk is even worse….they are now paying some cigan from Romania 500,000. he was in the same boat as the greek at dinamo, no other teams wanted them and here come hajduk and dinamo throwing money at them.
And who the hell is your team anyway, we'd all like to know so we can shit on them too?
lets not mate. your entited to your own view, but i'd rather not take days off work discussing football. Just let the fecking guys play and stop bringing everyone in the site down. You're creating a bad atmosphere. If we're shit – fine we like our shit. Me, personally i don't live in Croatia so didn't have to support this team. I could have supported any other team – but personally i like what Dinamo is doing. Remember the absolute trash Dinamo and Hajduk used to get beat by. Fecking teams from Ireland. Now at least even team like Belupo can smack such teams into the long grass. I'd call that slight improvement.
Ya i agree Papa and Slepicka has much to prove, but so does Sivonjic and Kramaric. If Papa flops don't worry the guy will get abuse from fans. BBB are hardly a forgiving bunch. They might even tie him upside down for a day to the nearest tree. Dario Zahora can vouch for that.
I also agree that Dinamo will hit a hurdle later in the campaign, but at the same time this is a long term project. We don't want blow all our money in one season. Papa is still only £1m maximum cost to Dinamo. That's peanuts in the current transfer market. Red Bull spend more than that. Also i think Jurcic will have no trouble taking him out for a Croat should he not deliver.
Regards Homer, Muslim or whatever – i don't give a shit. Personally i think worms are gonna eat everyones face when they die and perhaps all religion is flawed who knows. I imagine nobody wants to take a trip to find out. So you know all this Christian/ muslim shit just flies straight over my head. I'm born to both religions and not bothered with either.
Well, I have no clue who ciganski bosanc is….
listen, if you are OK with pravoslavci representing your club, that's cool with me. My team has also had their own amount of balija and cigani as well.
You got me all wrong..but we will save that for another day.
And nothing wrong with being a homer, just the lack of credibility in dicussing the issues. ALl good.
Very funny Dinamo fan:). At least you have a sense of humor.
Does anyone find it weird that right when zivi istina shows up ciganski bosanac disappears?
Nah thanks. i'll take a break from here if i'm talking to this moronic fascist immigrant from America that brings down the whole website. I think we can basically write ziva's messages for him and know exactly what's he's gonna write. Put your feet up mate we already know all that's coming out your mouth. We'll write your messages for you.
Rijeka up 2-0 on the shopkeepers from Luxembourg with seconds left in the first half.
A post will be up within 45 minutes of the game ending.
This is where ziva istina and dinamofan:) can continue their battle.
hehe you make me laugh. so you want to bring up sexuality and religion with like a total stranger over the internet. You're a total pervert if that is what enters you're mind when you don't win a arguement over football. You're a dangerous guy! Please don't talk to me cos i dont wanna know you.
If you're so nationalistic, what you doing in a country that's not yours. Pack you bags mate and go home to your little right wing world where you can cry at the sight of the non croats. That's clearly whats unsettling you about Papa. If you're gonna moan about him – get out of America.
you are the walking defintion of the word "homer"
Well, if you enjoy rooting for pravoslavci on your team as you have with muslimani in the past, then all the power to you. I prefer to watch young hrvati play and get their chance over washed up greeks that nonbody else wanted.
My only point was to give the young kids a chance to prove themselves.
1-0 Rijeka 20'
Lol – whats a homer. learn some english. you make arguement like a school kid in a playground. If you're not a dinamo fan nobody cares about your opinion on our team. We'd prefer if you don't watch – then you'd save yourselv the agony and it'll be hours you're not wasting of your life. You say that you want us to play kids to see if they do well or fail against an armenian team. Yeah right we'll do this just for you.
Wow….team was nervous to play against an armenian side.
Dude, your a homer and it shows. Don't be so naive to think that I don't know anything about soccer. I saw nothing from dinamo in these two games to makes me think they can do any damage to better squads. A lot can happen against Red Bull, they get an early goal and everything changes. My point was to play all the younger kids and let them fail. if they are good players, there talent will show against the likes of the armenian side, if they are not good players than that will show as well. ALl I care about our league is that it can provide and develop players for the national team. That is why we dont need washed up greeks making just under a million dollars. Get pojacanje that actually will help, not players that will only deliver in the cro league.
Yeah, I love my american check because it pays for my house in Croatia and everything that I ship over to the country. Nothing wrong with that… I see no differance in what I do than what our athletes do who earn an living outside croatia.
Obviously we didn't play that well, but someone who actually cared about the club would make this analysis. First its hard to play in a empty stadium – secondly team was nervous as is a heavy price to pay through not going through. Thirdly this is a new system and the players got to adjust to it. What was shown against Pyunic is that defence is slightly wobbily with actually Carlos being the most stable in this match, although he will come out for Ibanez or Glavina soon. Lovren – good player with excellant goal, who is yet to define his proper position. Is it right back or centre? Needs to define his position and learn how to be either right back or centre back. Biscan – is a centre midfielder in defence. Not sure why he does not play in mid no more, but this will probably harm us later in competition.
Then plus point of game – Morales, clearly man of match who is better player than Croat Sivonjic. Therefore Morales should be right winger from here on. Central mid. Vrdoljak and Badelj both Croats were not forceful in the mid. We have interest from Hertha and Koln in Vrdoljak. Sell and replace is an option for us. Badelj is promising, but needs time. Central midfield is an area we need to look at. Left wing – Sammir, basically he has the jersey so its up to him to improve. He has talent, but needs to keep working.
Up front Mandza and Papa were better in combination. Mandza scored easy goal, but workrate again in this game good and was dangerous. Papa who is one guys arch enermy here. Basically does not know language or teammates or club and needs time. If he doesn't impress we replace with Sivonjic or Kramaric… simple. In this game at least Papa recorded efforts. Why is this better cos in past Tadic and Balaban struggle to really even get touches on ball in Euro matches. Basically i consider this a game in our preseason prep. We learned and we moved on. We had no fans or widespread TV coverage so basically its hard for players to really entertain. If you look at that analysis though there is no misconceptions about what Dinamo is. We are building and trying to get better.
We also learn that Etto is not seeming the player he was and that Tomecak is pushing hard for his place.
At the end of day i support Dinamo so can analyse my team – you don't support anyone. Apart from probably Real Madrid cos you're probably a glory hunter that likes to be associated with the best teams and say everything else is crap. Maybe you've been living in America too long and have some misplaced superiority complex.
lol Croatian grown players – what you mean like who cos from you said before all Croatian players are crap and this is a joke league so who you talking about exactly. If there was better players in the HNL we wouldn't be playing Pynunic cos we wouldn't have won title. Just saying home grown players is not a solution. Name names. I am waiting!
Otherwise basically you have no idea how to make us better than we're already doing and just moaning cos you have some other problem in your life. Basically don't take it out on us. You don't even seem to support any Croat player or club so why are you here. I'm sure you can find a forum associated to the clubs you do like. Go and watch them and have a ball.
You talk about our youth system – Badelj, Lovren, Sivonjic, Vrdoljak are home grown or through youth team and they aren't our best players. You talk about paychecks now do you.. after admitting you'd never live in Croatia cos you love you're American pay cheque. Seems your no better than Papa.
Well, you can be a homer if you want. Lot of credibility you have.
As for dinamo's chances, I think they have great chance to beat Red Bull, becuase Red Bull is not a strong squad. I watched their match today and they were lucky to advance. I don't know who was worse, Dinamo against the armenian team or red bull against the irish side.
You want to know how it can be better for dinamo….well, first don't bring in washed up players and pay them top wages. This greek is a waste of money. At the end of the day they will be paying him nearly 3/4 of a million bucks to score meaningless goals in the croatian league. I rather lose in Europe with kids developed from the dinamo youth system or other croatain-grown players, not with some pravoslavac playing for his last paycheck.
Dinamo to face Red Bull Salzburg in the next round!
The BBB will return to Austria. Can't wait to see what they do this time.
At the end of the day who cares what you think Ziva. You say everything is rubbish – but its not like your Johan Cryuff youself. If you did something in football or was somebody your comments might mean something, but just saying everythings randomly rubbish is just getting boring. You probably barely know a player in Salzburgs team.
I watch this game and Dinamo should have scored lots more. This was a good work out during preseason match. We never looked like going out so its just a case of getting through the match – thanking Pyunic for giving the players a useful test and move on. I can analyse this as a Dinamo fan and criticise in hope of how we can improve. What you criticise for god knows. Just for the sake of it it seems.
As far as i'm concerned i'm behind each of these players. Its my team and you don't seem a fan of any team so basically your opinion just flies over my head. You're certainly no Dinamo fan as you wouldn't lambast us in this way after a comfortable win. You think Dinamo are crap then yeah so what. I'm not engaging in arguements if your just gonna randomly say everythings rubbish. Tell us how it can be better and we might listen to you.
btw Srna not going to Bayern Munich
I'm not asking for this team to make it into the champions league, i realize they dont have the talent for that. But, to play like that against competition from Armenia is discouraging. How much money does dinamo poor into their team, their develoment compared to the armenian side. For them to play like this is a very bad sign.
on a bright note, the idiots from the BBB didn't have a chance to do any damage, so thats good.
for sakes ziva please like croatia is what 4.5 million people and you come out here and rat on them like nothing its not like we have this arsenal of players. we played well for what we have we should have played better but it got the job done 3-0 end of story… you need to cut the standards be happy with wins ya we should be the better team bad games happen quit whining about everything
Salzburg is shit. If they are worth anything, they should beat Salzburg or the Irish sqaud.
Please dont compare Dinamo performance to an friendly match played by real madrid. madrid is just starting traning, while dinamo played in the champs league. They played two matches and showed nothing.
i think the word is stink rather than stick. Basically we did the job – end of story. Look at Real Madrid struggling to beat Shamrock Rovers at this stage of season. Its early days. We were better today even though they were not a good team. We still are missing Glavina/ Ibanez at left back. Morales was an improvement from Sivonjic however. We have to keep Morales at right wing and only Villa is a candidate to challenge. Sivonjic is only a candidate for the forward line in my opinion. I am not happy with the central mid. That's normally from where a team dominates and Vrdoljak is not good enough and Badelj does not impose himself. However i think the rest of team are adjusting to a new system so they need time. Judge us when we play Salzburg.
Thanks Ziva Istina.
Glad to hear Dinamo can't even dominate a team from Armenia.
We'll see what they do in the next round.
2-0 Dinamo now. Badelj goal in 61st.
This game is horrible to watch. Both teams stick.
