Dinamo fall on their home turf in the first leg of the play off round today to Austria Vienna with a score of 0-2.
Despite a dominant first half, Dinamo was unable to score on any of their four attempts on target. Austria didn’t have a shot on goal until the second half. The two teams entered halftime scoreless.
Dinamo looked to continue their first-half form, but Austria turned on the heat on the home team, and dominated the second half themselves.
Nothing could go right for Dinamo. They were unable to have any quality chances on goal, and their substitutions were of no help. In fact, the same minute when Ante Rukavina came on for Duje Čop, he was shown a red card for a reckless tackle and was sent off. At second look, the red card seemed to be very harsh, as the foul did not look intentional.
The two Austria away goals are a big obstacle for Dinamo to overcome, but it is not impossible.
The two teams meet again in Vienna next week, and Dinamo will be there to continue their streak of three strait Champions League appearances.
But what will come of this match? What will happen if Dinamo are unable to overcome the two-goal deficit? Perhaps a blessing in disguise?
If Dinamo lose the play off round, they are automatically entered into the group stages of the Europa League, a tournament they are much better suited to compete in. Some say that is where they belong, while others prefer the glory and payday of the Champions League despite much fiercer competition.
And what about the future of coach Krunoslav Jurčić? Could this be the end of this second chance with Dinamo? Will Zdravko Mamić send him packing if Dinamo are forced to compete in Europa?
Time will tell, but now is the time to focus on next week’s match and prepare for whatever may come.
TODAY’S LINEUPS – Zelenika, Šimunić, Pinto, Addy, Ademi, Husejinović, Pivarić, Pamić, Soudani, Fernándes, Čop.
Ante BBB – There was plenty of outrage, but I think it was during your trip in Croatia. You missed all the fun of my article I wrote. This is what happens when you miss a few days on this site. Can’t wait to hear your story though!
this is all sorts of comedy……..
Hajduk, who was fined for chants against Mamic, has filed a protest over the chants by Dinamo fans directed at Mamic yesterday. So, they want Dinamo to be fined as well. This is actually a good move on their part for the comedic value.
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/do-kud-ovo-ide-hajduk-prijavio-dinamo-hnsu-zbog-vrijedjanja-mamica-/696232.aspx
@Ante B,
Safe trip home and looking forward to the stories. Bog
@Ante B
I remember the article
Seems while Dinamo does well it’s ok!
I was at the game last night. Will write about what I witnessed once I get back to the US. Stayed in Sjever where Colin got banned (cannot believe there is no outrage and that everyone is silent about it. One of our own got banned for Christs sake. Tragic on all fronts from CSR nation) but since Mamic was not at the game, he didn’t send his goons after us once we started screaming. There might not be any real navijanje anymore but the BBB are far from over. When you have almost 800 people banned, you can’t have the same experience. Mamicu cigane!!!
@nije bitno
Two key things you said. 1. HNS needs to pony up and pay real money 2. we need a credible coach
From day one I was never crazy about Stimac. I don’t discount what he did as a player for Croatia but he is not at the level one would expect to run a national team.
Luka – agreed, I’m a fan of Lazio as well and like what he has done for the club. However i think It’s time that HNS actually paid some money for a credible coach. I prefer a croat as the head coach for the repka and Petkovic fits the bill.
@nije bitno
I hear you about Petkovic and think he would be an amazing fit. I just don’t see him leaving Lazio at this stage as he has it really good financially in Italy. I can see our Savez playing games and trying to lowball him and he tells them to go to hell.
My neighbour grew up in Italy cheering for Lazio and follows them religously now. He tells me the people are fuckin crazy about Petkovic. They love what he does done for the team.
I would like to see Vladimir Petković takeover the national team. Dude is doing a phenomenal job in Lazio, plus he has way more credibility as a coach than Stimac or any other one of those boneheads running the savez.
Boli me kurac
They don’t play Halilovic in Champions League because if he gets onto the field for one second the becomes “cup tied” and is ineligible to participate for another team in a European competition (eg: Tottenham in Europa League).
As for domestically I don’t follow so I’m sure you guys know more if he is playing or not.
Even before this loss and prior to the first time he coached Dinamo, Jurcic had no business being a coach. Dude looks lost, he probably couldn’t find his way out of a wet paper bag.
@TheGoldenChild
I’m not saying that i don’t believe you but to leave him out of the team if he could actually improve the side is crazy.
@Andrew
Deals are done. Paperwork is getting filed. No reason for him to play and possibly get injured.
There’s one question I have for everyone out there, if Alen Halilovic is so good (and I believe he is, albeit still a little young) why doesn’t he play more for Dinamo? For me it’s a puzzling one. Once again he’s riding the pine today. We know top clubs are after him but surely he’d like to play Champions League games, right? And go…
http://m.vecernji.hr/sport/vijesti/jurcic-smijenjen-mamic-otici-cu-ako-se-vaha-zeli-vratiti-dinamo-clanak-601782.
Bye bye jurcic
Regarding the next boss, Mamic was quoted as saying:
“The first person I called after the match was Branko Ivankovic – however he told me that we will talk tomorrow. With that statement, he just disqualified himself. Then I thought of Cicu Kranjcar, but then you all would hardly wait for the first time for him to be drunk.”
Hahahahaha – I’d call him a Neanderthal, but that would be an insult to them.
…then he mentions Halihodzic.
Jurcic sucked as a player and is even worse as coach. Worst of all – he has no pride.
iPad
“Pero”
@jarac
LOL
Gotta love Ozujsko.
@Pero
Zuja je Zakon!!!
Laknat you fool shut up. Simunic had a good game and Halilovic would not have done a thing. Also Jurcic has already been fired.
It was only a matter of time until Kruno Jurcic was fired. Hopefully the third time’s a charm with him hopefully never returning, as it was his THIRD stint as Dinamo’s coach.
This guy has no self respect and would probably be back as Dinamo’s coach as soon as next season if Mamic gave him a call.
Jurcic was a terrible footballer and owes his entire career as a Cro national team player, Cro national team asst coach, and Dinamo/Lokomotiva coach by ‘brown-nosing’ the right people.
Jurcic is a perfect example of how far an untalented bum can crawl in life.
why Dinamo get whupped >
first -> Fucking Simunic up there and use ban captain
then -> The God of Halilovic did not play
so -> 0-2 and stupid coach must be fired !!
Toooooooo rukavina toooooo legendo.
Anyone have a stat for the fastest red card after being subbed in?
hey valentina,
keep laughing, maybe one day Hajduk will make it to Europa league or Champions league but I doubt it 🙂
hahahahaha
I worked so far, how the match ended??
ahhahahahhahahaahhahaahahhahahaahahhaha 🙂
@Croatia vs Antwrep
Dont be upset and have another Ozujsko. You are in Hrvatska and enjoy. At least they will play in the Europa League and we get to cheer them on for that.
I’m more upset over Zelenika’s performance. That first goal should not have happened. Stand your ground on the near post. Goalkeeping 101. Come on. The defense wasn’t much help in that situation, but stil…
That was not Rukavina’s fault. He wasn’t even looking at the other player! It was a little reckless, but no WAY was it a red card.
Was Jurcic actually fired already? Do I have to update the write up already? Damn! Figured he’d get to finish the play offs. Heard Mamic wants Halilhodžić back at the helm. You know what, would be totally cool with that, but he’d be CRAZY to come back. He left the first time for a reason.
Ante Rukavina = Croatian Henry
Let me tell you something about this game. It was a farce, a poor showing from Dinamo. I’m in Croatia right now, and I was watching the game with my friends at a local Bar.
And I had like 4 Ozujsko’s to dull the pain of the loss. It was ridiculous. It was one way traffic, the Austrian’s controlled the match. Rukavina is an idiot for going red. I’m so Mad.
@ziva, I thought u knew something about soccer! Does halilovic deserve to get called up to the national team? No! But why do they call him up? To lock him into the checker uniform and to squeeze a few extra $$$ for his sale.
I don’t like mamic! But the man is a very smart business man! He will not risk losing him fo nothing next summer if they don’t sell the kid soon. Mamic will make his $$$$ on selling halilovic even if the kid doesn’t play a single minute this season, he’s that good at 17 that he will be in demand
Hahaha – just like the mobsters do – Mamic to send in a close relative to “oversee and fix up the mess” for one game that means 7 million Euro to their pockets.
Kinda like in the movie ‘Casino’ when Joe Pesci was sent to Vegas to manage the joint with no experience…..hahaha
Jurcic for the next NT manager!!!!
Mamic’s brother will take over
http://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/mamic-promptno-potjerao-jurcica-momcad-preuzima-zoki-mamic-/696117.aspx
Jurcic fired… 🙁
Why do people even want him under Daniel Levy’s control?
Why would he want to go to the EPL? Seem like the best thing for him to do is go to La Liga. I hope one of the cash stripped sides can muster up some money, maybe Real Sociead(Sp?) after they sold Illaramendi for 38 mil euros or Sevilla after they sold their entire team.
@Imotski
I think Bale is a done deal my friend. On top of all the chatter, Tottenham and Real have some type of partnership. Neville was talking about it last week, and he was confused as to why Bale still wasn’t gone.
With all the money they get from Bale, they’ll have no problem buying the kid.
I hope nobody ends up buying him, would be a nice blow to mamic’s pocket
I can’t see Tottenham buying him, supposedly they are signing Lamela and Willian for a total of 60 mil, add to the fact they spent another 50 mil on Soldado, Paulinho, Chadil, and Capoue. They don’t have throw away money.
@Nije Bitno, thanks for the info, just turned it on.
They have to sell Halilovic now (possibly waiting on Spurs to get the money from the Bale sale) or this winter. Thiey risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Atletico Madrid up 1-0 against Barca in super cup
If we can take one good thing from this game, Halilovic is gone by the transfer window. That should be the only reason as to why he didn’t play tonight.
Well, one of the reasons is because they have an idiot as their coach…………Who is the person here who was defending Jurcic a few weeks ago claiming he has a good coach. Care to defend him now? This is what I mean when people need to take off the homer glasses The guy is a fan of Jurcic and can’t see his flaws.
Didn’t watch the game (arsenal fan), but why is this dinamo side constantly underperforming this year. They barely win comfortably in the league anymore.
Ajmo Hajduk! Hocemo Prvenstvo!
Austria is way more disciplined as well.
From what i saw today it’s pretty much over going to Austria 2-0. Austria played exactly how their coach wanted them to. They were calm, defended well and distributed the ball forward well when the opportunities arrived. They well do the same in Austria but play more bunker than today. It will be tough for Dinamo to penetrate but it can be done.
There was more talent on Dinamo’s bench than in the starting 11.

I agree with Ziva, this tie isn’t over. 2-0 isn’t the end of the world.
Besides, Dinamo belongs in the Europa League anyways. A favorable draw in the group stage and Dinamo go through. Look for Jurcic to get the boot kad Mamic po pizdi
they still fear Maksimir because it is such a shithole.
Im starting to like this Austrian team. All Austrians besides a few hrvati, a Czech, and an Aussie.
I miss the days when ALL of Europe feared Maksimir. Now we got Austrians and Scottish handing us our asses in our own backyard.
if it finished 2-0, i can still see Dinamo getting through. get na early goal in Austria and anything can happen.
hey, on the bright side – I think Dinamo will definitely win a group stage game in EL!
And Pivaric showing he can’t defend either.
If the results holds, is mamic going to give Kruno Jurcic and his tactical wisdom the boot.
u kurac
@Ziva
At least he won’t get a red card less than a minute of being subbed in. #rukavina
Hes still young Mamic still has time to cash in on him. He’s still trying to sell an aging Sammir
This is fucked up
back to Halilovic…………..the dude gets called up to the repka (doesn’t deserve the call up) and can’t get into meaningful games for dinamo.
Stimac needs to sign up Marin Leovac to play left back for the repka lol
nevermind what I said about the GK……..elements of GPS Kelava returned.
Nice effort, nice try by Rukavina.
RED CARD?? #HowardWebb
I know, not dissing you. Just hating on Sammir. Keeper looked lost on that goal.
Everything about that was bad. Poor defense, and WHO LEAVES THEIR NEAR POST LIKE THAT?? You get beat 100X outside/far post before you get beat near post like that. That’s inexperience right there. GPS Kelava even knows that.
I never said I liked him or wanted him in. I just knew that was going to be Krunos first move cause Husejinović wasn’t playing well.
Too bad he’s already tired.
What did I tell you guys? Husejinović out and Sammir in!
The God of Halilovic is bust giving bosnian journalists interviews about how much he loves BiH.
put in the god of halilovic;)
Husejinović out and Sammir in!
Simunic is looking well, along with Sudani too. Cop and Fernades are almost non existent out there. Think they need to make any changes at half??
Pivaric is having a great game so far. In my opinion he is the best man on the field so far.
@capiltas55…….don’t get crazy. Watch some of the MLS teams in the CONCACAF Champions League, especially on the road.
The GK for Dinamo is 10 times better than GPS Kelava and about 100 pounds lighter.
MLS has better quality than this mess.
The director of this game needs more shots of Jurcic on the bench. His facial expressions/look are great.
Finally, a shot on goal. Pretty good buildup. Dinamo is without a question the better team out there today, but in the long run, neither of the teams are good enough for Champions League.
@TheGoldenChild
Good for you cuz. A Croatian girl is worth her weight in gold. Here in NYC al least half of the women are dykes.
En espanol:

good luck Dinamo! I’ll be watching later in HD from the DVR, sweet!

From my perspective, I see it this way.
Champions League qualifier where people will be watching, I need the stands to look packed. Realistically, nobody is going to watch Dinamo outside of those qualifiers unless you’re a super fan. If Dinamo does well and they have a good crowd, that makes the look better to scouts, players, investors, etc etc. that want to come.
One day of slashed ticket prices will be a very small price to pay for Champions League money and public interest in the club.
so what’s the rationale behind basically giving tickets away? just to get guzice in the seats? how can a professional team survive by selling tickets to European games for nothing? Aren’t gate receipts a big money maker for legitamate clubs?
Actually, Maksimir will have plenty of people in it today thanks to tickets priced between $1-$3.
FYI I see Sportska-TV has Veetle & Flash links for today’s game… enjoy!
Mark Dekanich @dexshow 6h RT @mattmurley19: Whats the best way to get tickets for tonights Dynamo Zagreb game ? #ChampionsLeague <–this…
Ha ha ha! New goalie for the Bears doesn't realize yet there will be lots of seats available for the game…..he'll learn no doubt! Too funny.
ATheGoldenChild
Just found this on google, no idea how good it is….
http://www.livemocha.com/learn-croatian
@Anonymous
Yup. I listen to Radio Banovina daily, and try to read as much Croatian news as possible. I just found this too, http://www.pimsleur.com/Learn-Croatian/Reviews.
@nije
With the transfer window the way it is, Ziva might get a call from his basement to go play.
TheGoldeChild
I agree, he should go to Italy and play for Lazio and help out Klose
Suarez wants out of Liverpool and it doesn’t look like its going to happen. Brendan Rodgers has stated that he would like to make a couple more signings before the transfer deadline.
@goldenchild, I learned how to speak Croatian well mostly from my mom, grandparents, but listening to croatian music helped me the most
@Nije
Last time I checked, they didn’t have anything for Croatian. I’ll check that again though. Thanks!
Suarez and Sturridge are all that they need. There is no way Rebic breaks through that wall. Borini is on pace to come back to 1st team action as well. With Rebic’s current form, I don’t think they’ll be able to justify the buy when they need help elsewhere. If they do pick him up, that means they know Suarez is leaving next year. Building for the future is great for the club, but I’d rather see Rebic go somewhere he can play.
On top of that, I’d rather most of our players go Italy or Germany before the Prem. They are better places for a young player to build his confidence and talent. The game in Italy is a bit slower and lot less brutal.
TheGoldenChild
Tell them to buy Rossetta Stone 🙂
Why don’t you think Liverpool will take him?
Mama Istina is available to reading/writing lessons.
@sude
There are 3 in the race. Fiorentina is the only one that’s put in a bid though. I don’t think Liverpool take him. Tottenham would be the only other option, and I think it’s actually not a bad place for Rebic. He could play alongside Defoe, who isn’t too shabby and he could be coached by AVB.
@all of you
My cousin fell in love with a girl in Croatia this summer. He can speak the language pretty well, but he wants to improve him reading and writing skills. Does anyone know of any tools out there that could help him?
@Andrew Lovelette
Majmun, I mean Mamic has this down to a science….qualify for group play and get the 7M Euros pay-off, sell the young players at what he thinks is their high-water mark value-wise and pocket good coin for himself and to continue to fund the machine that cranks out these players.
Doesn’t give a shit about the fans or perception as long as his swiss bank account gets larger and as I said, the machine continues to tick along.
You will not see a concerted effort by Dinamo to create a great team because league is poor and formula above works financially for majmun.
The Veetle streams will become available once the game starts, then you shouldn’t have a problem streaming it. The game is also on FSN today.
I don’t like all this “what type of competition should they be aiming for” talk. Plain and simple, it’s sports. You should try to win every game you play. If you win, you get to play some of the best players in the world, if you don’t Europa League is not too shabby. Sure, it’s been a tough go in the Champions League lately, but I think the question we should be asking is what is the club’s ambition? Clearly, Dinamo sell its best players, so it would appear that they are just happy to reach the Champions League Group Stages. I don’t know what the financial state of the Prva HNL is but if Dinamo are doing alright, why not try to hold onto some of your better players a little longer? Then there’s player ambition, so that point may be mute as well. I guess it would just be nice to see the team/league become progressive in all facets.
Cheers fellas, sick cunts!
Veete allows you to stream off iphone. Sportska-TV.com usually has a veetle stream
FYI use Puffin web browser on iPhone and you can watch flash
and that IS the same stream I provided last time that I believe everyone used for Liechtenstein game.
You’ll notice the DZ game is the one game that doesn’t say flash. The same thing happened with the Vatreni game and then right before kickoff they added a link/stream, but it was Veetle not Flash. But like I said, use Puffin web browser on iPhone and you can watch Flash
Lol! They all need flash player, if someone can link me the same stream used last time would be much appreciated.. Think it was hr2
IMHO Your new first choice for any Croatia stream is the newish site:
http://sportska-tv.com/
bookmark it!
Our boy Howie Webb is reffing the game today. Should be interesting. Considering his status as a well known ref, i would love to see Jurcic hug and hold him like he did Mourinho
Rumor has it that now Liverpool is interested in Rebic. I know many teams are interested but as a fan of Liverpool I’d like Rebic to go there and flourish. They need an attacking player anyway.
Best of luck to Dinamo today!
http://slobodnadalmacija.hr/Nogomet/tabid/84/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/219207/Default.aspx
@ mr black – I can’t access it as I’m using my IPhone to stream, the only one I can access is the one they used for Cro v Lichtenstein, think its a Cro channel.. Anyone?
dinamo 3-0
Having no serious rooting interest in Dinamo, but I would catch Dinamo vs. a top ranked European team. But if Dinamo were to play, say Dynamo Kiev or perhaps a team like Shahktar Karagandy – I’d stay in Istra…
Anonymous,
I usually use first row free football live stream.
Can u guys plz put a stream up, preferably the same one you used for the last Cro international, have to watch off iPhone and its the only way possible. Thanks!
The God of Halilovic must playing !!
