Full transparency: I was only able to watch five minutes of this match so I can’t comment, but I was shocked to see Dinamo Zagreb, the reigning Croatian champions, losing to a mid-level Czech side after losing to Ballkani (Kosovo) in their previous European match.
Dinamo had 64% ball possession and five total shots against Viktoria Plzen Thursday night at Maksimir but couldn’t find the back of the net. Baturina, Bulat, Vidović all got the start for Dinamo…but no dice. Dinamo have now been shut out in two consecutive Conference League games. So what is going on? Is this finally the end of a 20-year reign by Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia?
Hajduk, Rijeka, and Osijek all have to be pretty happy with he result and Dinamo’s current anemic offense. Dinamo next play Sunday versus Lokomotiva in HNL action.

This is weakest Dinamo roster ever.
The only player worth watching is Baturina.
Don’t forget Gabe
I watch 5 minutes of game…
Dinamo has been gutted by sales over the last 2 seasons. Def good business, and I’m confident they’ll build up a good squad, but will likely take a year or 2.
What a task to build and re-build greatness, Kao, the greatest spiritual journey, where you never quite arrive, because once you arrive, kiss the talent good-bye.
I feel the most sorry for Jakirovic. The guy made what he thought to be a good career move and Dinamo has imploded right in front of him.
The one thing I respect a lot from Jakirovic is the fact that he’s tried out every player and given them lots of opportunities. He’s also openly said that the team is made up of very nice kids/men and that there are very few ego’s in the changing room. He’s done more by giving opportunities that Cacic and Biscan but at the end of the day, he got some bad luck when he lost Kacavenda, Stojkovic, Petkovic got injured and we know that Dinamo lost Ivanusec, Sutalo and Liva not long ago.
The biggest complaint I have about Dinamo right now is the fact that they just don’t have anyone lethal up top. Emreli is a complete waste of space, I’d send him on the first donkey back to Azerbaijan….he’s lazy as fuck and a one dimensional player!
This has to be the responsibility of Dinamo’s uprava and not on the back of their coach. They knew their players were leaving and they didn’t secure good options for their club….and its not like they don’t have the money… so at the end of the day, they need to own this situation. Soo many people have criticized Mamic and yet I’d do anything to have him back, if this continues, Dinamo won’t be able to carry Croatia on its shoulders for the coefficient and we as a soccer nation will lose a lot. I know that most Torcidasi say they don’t care about Dinamo carrying the country with regards to the coefficient but wait until we have nobody in Europe…we will see what they say then!
Guys like Simic, who live off their name and show little with actions can piss off. Now that Mamic is gone, there should be tons of people wanting to help the club but apparently the in-fighting is terrible….who’s to blame now?
I am far from a Hajduk fan or a Torcidas, but who cares about the coefficient. Our clubs all stink in Europe.
As for wanting Mamic back. That wont happen. He is a criminal. You can forget about a new stadium for Dinamo if he comes back or is able to get his people back in power.
Is Mamic kao Trump, easy to hate by decent people, but gets things done in the end?
No
Pretty much.
Mamic is a crook, but who isn’t these days. At least he’s a competent one.
What did Trump get done again? Oh yeah, personally manufactured a vaccine which he secretly took but agreed with his followers was a hoax. Trump for President of the Universe for life! You guys gotta get off this “Mamic was a crook but he was competent as a business man” mentality. His results don’t justify him being a criminal. And I don’t wanna hear your “hey, in the end everyone’s a criminal” arguments. Let’s try to root out criminality and corruption everywhere we see it and do things in a moral and ethical way. Dalic seems like a good man. If he was a bad guy like Mamic our National Team accomplishments under him wouldn’t be as special. That’s part of what I like about our athletes. Modric, Cilic, Coric, Gojo… most of our athletes… nice people outside of their sport. Win or lose, we have our respect and reputation to uphold. So uphold it!! Fuck Mamic! And fuck Bosnia for not handing him over…
Watched the match and Dinamo does not have the quality upfront especially with Petkovic being out with the hamstring injury. They are not scoring enough goals and the defence is also not the best and seem to be conceding goals every match. This has to be one of the worst Dinamo sides in recent times and a great opportunity for Hajduk or Rijeka to win the HNL title.
Interesting rumors in the Cro Media that on Monday Dalic will call up Franjo Ivanovic for the November EURO qualifiers. He is a 20-year-old forward who joined Rijeka this year from Germany, turning down offers from some big clubs such as Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund. He has spent most of his youth playing career in Austria and recently in Germany and is a proven goal scorer at youth level. From what I have seen of him, he plays on the right wing, and he looks fast, energetic and likes taking on defenders.
Recently there was a headline in SN and somebody stated that Ivanovic was a space shuttle in comparison to Musa and Beljo. Did not go in to see who said it but Austria and Germany want him to play for them. The kid has a lot of relatives around Vinkovci and has indicated that he wants to play for Croatia. This might be a good opportunity for Dalic to call him up and give him a run against Latvia or Armenia.
These Croatian comments haha.
I’m going to assume that space shuttle means good?
Check out this kids hi lites.. the thing that stands out is the goals he’s scored with either foot.
Great pace and a kid who can finish with both feet is rare!
Crossed fingers as always!
Is he even the best player on Rijeka?
I would assume Marco Pasalic and Jankovic were better, and probably fill a bigger need.
Does him being a diaspora player (who has other options) playing a factor?
Imo, yes about the diaspora players.
Pasalic and Jankovic are really good, but Ivanovic fills the biggest need of all which is an aggression towards goal. That was my thought process behind that post. Hodza I mentioned previously
I’d cap Ivanovic so quick his head would spin. He might just be the one we’ve been craving and yearning for.
Cap both him and Hodza and we’re all good
Is he that good?
I haven’t seen him play but he only has 2 goals in 11 games with Rijeka.
Last year he was playing in the fourth league in Germany which is the only season he’s regularly scored goals.
All of his highlights come from his time in this German fourth tier, and it’s mostly goals as a result of bush league defending from his opponents. He won’t be able to do this against better defenders.
Does he do something else?
He’s not even a big guy who can play as a power forward, adding a physical dimension to our attack.
What am I missing here?
I hope this isn’t another situation where a diaspora Croat has a high-paying agent and marketing team working him into the National Team…similar to how the paid media kept hyping up Dinamo’s diaspora player (Ljubicic) getting his Domovnica paperwork so he could be called up (even though he’s garbage).
Dear Santa, I have not been as good as I should have been this decade, but please give Croatia a consistent striker worthy of Croatian past glories, that can be the bridge to a new generation of players, so one day we will say…… Suker who? If he has already arrived, give us a sign. Amen.
Yes, I think so Maminjo.
I hope I’m right. But, anything can happen in the meantime. I’m hearing good things
Well, that happens when you sell off top talent: Sutalo, Ivanusec, Orsic, and Livakovic (to name a few). Dinamo will be back no doubt.
Despite the loss of talent surely the coach would be dismissed
Jakirović looks foolish now.
Ditches Rijeka for Dinamo, and now Rijeka is in first and Dinamo continues to sink.
Career-ending move right there.
Careed Ending? Come its the HNL. He can still coach Rudes, Dragovoljac, Lokomotiva, Gorica and more:) But yes career limiting move to Dinamo.
Nah, those teams never hired discarded Dinamo coaches.
All recently fired Dinamo coaches are either not coaching anymore…or end up in the Middle East.
