In Rijeka’s first ever European home match, Leon Benko and company got Kantrida rocking early as he volleyed home a cross from eight yards out in the 10th minute of play to give Rijeka a 1-0 lead. However, it wouldn’t last long against La Liga’s Real Betis as a failed clearance attempt gave Cedric a second chance at goal in the 14th minute. From just outside the box, the Betis man rifled a shot into the top-right corner of the net that goalie Ivan Vargic could do nothing about. The game would end 1-1, earning Rijeka their first European point in club history, finishing the match with three shots on goal and 55% ball possession. Through two matches, Rijeka trail leaders Vitoria Guimaraes by three points with a trip to Lyon set for October 24th.
Rijeka-Real Betis Highlights
It’s only gone from bad to worse for Dinamo this season. They missed out on Champions League. Lost their first Europa League match. Only lead the HNL by one point with over a quarter of the season done. And were crushed by Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Thursday night in matchday 2 of the Europa League. Dinamo are now 0-2 to start their European campaign after losing 2-1 to Chornomorets in the opener with PSV Eindhoven coming to Zagreb on October 24th. Dinamo may be done with Europe before they even begin, even though they are only three points behind second place, but if this poor form continues domestically, is the iron fortress that general manager Zdravko Mamic has built finally falling apart?
This is why I like it when our players opt for Serie A instead of EPL.
Jedvaj choosing Roma over Spurs was a great move. He’s legitimately in their plans and they are taking the steps to register him so he can play, despite being only 17. The league is just as good as EPL, and as an added bonus, he gets to be taught how to play defense by Italians (the right way) instead of by the English (the wrong way).
Kovacic is already a regular for Inter. Livaja also gets a lot of undeserved opportunity as well (Kelava as well). Radosevic played some minutes on arguably the best and most deep team in Serie A. Bubnjic is starting to make some appearances…and Vrsaljko plays every minute, and he plays very well.
Halilovic spurning Spurs was a great move too. I’m hoping AC Milan comes back with a better offer so he can move there. He would’ve wasted at least 2 years on the bench at Spurs, and likely would’ve ended up like Giovani Dos Santos if he accepted their terms.
I think ol’ Sejad saw this coming and didn’t trust his historic enemy Levy, thus purposely ruining the negotiations, lol.
Likewise only a few la liga and epl teams have the resources to throw money away. It is ridiculous to assume otherwise.
there are only a few Serie A clubs who have crazy money to throw around. Even Milan doesnt have the cash anymore.
“Serie A clubs are not rich enough to throw money”
Come on they are rich enough, they have the money, they just chose not to. That is the difference.
I’m baffled. I don’t see how Dinamo cant have a better infrastructure than what they got in terms of producing players. We actually have a second team who can play in same level as the first and compete in Europe i.e Lokomotiva. Its no big deal at all youngsters being transferred. RNK Split were worse with Ante Rebic this season cos him, Belle and Bilic were getting in each others way. Rebic and Belle were out of position. In Italy Rebic also will get loaned out just like Livaja if he isn’t playing. He may even get loaned in January. Radosevic, Jedvaj and Rebic will not rot in Italy. How do you think Sasa Bjelanovic played so many games in Italy. Its extremely easy to get loans between clubs in the country and that is a better form of maturing in the game than playing with a dominant team in HNL1.
I actually want Halilovic to go in January as well. The first teams results are down to Ivankovic lately. He should come out and explain the latest defeats not Mamic. Jurcic did alright at the start of the season but choosing Rukavina over Bequiraj was crazy. Dinamo has a reasonable side but the competition is greater as Rijeka, Lokomotiva are stronger. Split get stronger each side. Pamic has strengthened Istra. The league 10 is better for Croatia. Its harder to pick up points thats why if Ivankovic is struggling to beat Zadar and Osijek how is he going to do when we play the better teams.
Rukavina is ready for a club like RNK Split now. He’s stagnated at Dinamo.
Anyone watch the Slaven-Lokosi match today? What am I saying… OF COURSE you did. I know how you guys love watching the HNL! Lokomotiva were up 2-0 over Slaven today at halftime, but ended up losing 3-2 to SLAVEN. Can anybody imagine Mamic fixing this match so Dinamo has a better chance of staying up top? Im usually no conspiracy theorist, but come on…
Nick c you must be related to cico. You both are retarded. Learn how to spell.
@ Ante B
There’s no way that lineup would’ve ever existed. If Mamic didn’t sell them, then they would’ve just refused to sign a new contract and sign with a bigger team in a bigger league on a Bosman.
Everyone complains about how Dinamo and Hajduk sell all their players, but these players outgrow the HNL and want to eventually play in the big leagues.
That being said…it IS getting out of hand regarding how young they’re being sold today. I didn’t have a problem with Modric and Dudu being sold, since Dudu was already 24 years old and Modric was turning 23. If they weren’t sold when they were sold, they would’ve just refused to re-sign any extension and forced their way out.
But selling teenagers like Kovacic, Radosevic, Jedvaj, and Rebic is tough to see. It worked out for Kovacic (as he seems to be playing better for Inter than on Dinamo), but Radosevic, Rebic, and Jedvaj could end up being benched for a while due to their age and inexperience. Luckily Roma and Fiorentina spent a lot on Jedvaj & Rebic, so they will likely force them into the lineup eventually (since Serie A teams aren’t rich enough to throw money away like the EPL or La Liga).
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH last year the reffs saved Dinamo this year God couldn’t not save dynamo WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bravo Ludogorec 3-0 Dinamo this time even if the reff game another 90 minutes extra time Dinamo still would have not done anything Ludogorec are a much better team
2006 was the breaking point, you’re right. It was right around the time Mamic was initially thinking about bringing in Kovac and then that’s where the shit hit the fan and the mega sale began. If he didn’t sell them, Dinamo’s lineup today would have been Dudu, Modric, Mandzukic, Corluka, Vukojevic, Simunic, Vida, Zelenika, Sammir, Kovacic and Jedvaj.
Fuuuuuuuck what a line up!
BBB were right to do what they did just like torcida did with KODAKS and now hajduk produce young talent and its fun to watch.
Back to Dinamo and HNS Mamic ruined Craotian football i like rooting for croatian clubs in europe and he call he cares about is money man this all started back in 2006 season when dinamo had a mega team and he basicaly sells half that team he should just amke Stimac head coach of Dinamo hell he need the work since he is terrible with croatia.
I love how all of your responses prove that the BBB were right since day one. Now especially since most of you spat on them for thinking such. It makes me smile go wider and wider with every comment.
Our savez is a joke i did bash Markovic RIP. In the end of the day Suker is no better letting a mafia guy like mamic be his right hand man. Against belgium sit Mamic at coaches corner wow. Stimac so jealous of Bilic in his mind said wow if Slaven can coach so can i im better than bilic?! i makes me sick that they ruined HNS and uvijek vjerni its very difficult to be vjeran in Puppets budale.
I’ve allways been optimistic about the Vatreni but i really don’t know what will happen aganst Belgium!
Then Mamic will just hire Stimac to be president of the savez and that’s how it will go in circles for a long time.
Tooooooo Sammir
http://imageshack.us/a/img191/4504/sammir.gif
http://www.vecernji.hr/sport/nogomet/sammir-je-dolazio-pijan-treninge-nitko-mu-nista-nije-mogao-clanak-621718
That is why we have to hope no fans attend the game against Belgium. If the teams shits the bed, more pressure will fall on Puppet Suker to get rid of Strucnjak Stimac.
Then, if the next coach fails, that would put pressure on Puppet Suker to leave (or hopefully get a gig on FIFA’s executive committee, which is his long term goal anyway) after hiring two failed coaches.
All in all Ziva is right, we can bring in whoever but what say will he have with these idiots running the savez?
I like Petković due to his involvement in charities and due to him being a Serie A coach. But it’s hard to rate his success with Lazio, although just being their coach is impressive enough when compared to what we are used to. I like Kek because he has had extraordinary success on multiple occasions.
Either way, they’re both my top-2 choices as our NT coach. Much better records than Štimac’s unsuccessful spells at Hajduk and Cibalia (ugh.. What a disaster).
Armada87
we have all debated this before, Nije Bitno is just saying. We all agree on one thing. Petkovic is an excellent coach.
He has a good thing going with Lazio and is being paid well and the fans and management love the guy. No way can the Savez entice him to come over.
@ nije
you think Petkovic would leave Lazio for Maminjo and the Croatian NT? lol let’s get realistic – hey, I’d like a Croat coach at the helm too, but we would have a better chance at getting Kek or Katanec to coach the NT than Petkovic.
every time we bring up the coaching issue we will face this problem…..as long as Puppet Suker and Mamic have their paws in the savez, it will be hard to bring in a coach who will make choices independent of those two clowns.
By the way, just saw this………….http://sportske.jutarnji.hr/brbic-ocajan—zar-je-hajduk-kriv-sto-je-rijeka-nesposobna-organizirati-utakmicu–/1130603/
I didn’t watch the game. So, I cant offer commentary either way. So, to those of you who did watch, what the hell took place. How is hajduk fined double the amount than Rijeka, but Riejak was the hoem team and responsbile for security.
I’ve been saying it for a few months now every time the coaching topic gets brought up. Vladimir Petković would get my Vote. I’d rather have a Croat coach than a Slovenian.
Elwood: It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark… and we’re wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.
I’m a fan of both Kek and Katanec. Wished we would of brought Katanec on as NT coach years ago. Either him or Kek would be an upgrade from the crap in place now – and to you Niko Kovac fanboys, give the guy a few more years and then we’ll talk NT coach with him at the helm.
I’d really like to see Rijeka slap out Dinamo on Sunday in Maksimir.
@Colin O’Haravić
As a team they played fantastic! They looked great and it was a great effort! Up until the 75th minute mark.
The problem was that Mamic took Soudani and Sammir out way too early. There was still 15 minutes reaming with extra time. I would have never taken off Soudani!! The one player who can last the whole game, and hold the ball up to waste the time left!! You replace him with Leko??
While at the same time you have Ademi and Brozović walking around in the middle because they ran out of steam by 60 minutes, Ademi because he had not played a full game under Jurcic for ages, and Brozović because Pamić was playing regularly while Broz was warming the bench, and you replace Soudani, with LEKO??
As soon as they were taken off, anyone that knows anything about sport in general knew a goal was going to be scored by Austria. Time management was a factor and to completely remove players than can hold up the ball is wrong. There was still too much time remaining in the game.
And in the tradition of showing past glory,
Here’s one you guys may or may not remember..
surprisingly only a 1-0 win at home against some cunts called ireland, thanks to a late, late, last minute winner from DA MAN ..
enjoy !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcwJm87ycY4
Fuck yeah.. thanks 19Miro50 – i alwayws love the flashbacks on youtube.. should find an old one to reminisce before each game we play these days against the corresponding team 🙂
lol.. prso with a mandzu style goal
jerko leko with the goal of the day !
someone give prso a shot of cortisone in his knees and put him out there
i know the belgium team of 04 was not near this one but shit look at our guys play with heart and passion and looked very together… and im pretty sure they created more chances in that game then we have for half of qualifying this year
Who else thinks Ivankovic will be gone by the next EL match? I sure do. As the Wise Ante BBB said, Mamic is due for a meltdown.
I’ve liked Kek so far in what he’s done at Rijeka. Maybe I need more time or more to look at before he coached our Hrvatska though.
@SteveDave – For the most part, I liked what I saw at Austira under Mamic’s coaching. Looked a hell of a lot better and more concise than what we saw at home when Jurcic was coaching. They looked sharp and worked together. Plus, I just liked his line up.
Today I was pretty unhappy with everything Ivankovic did. Who puts Sammir up top alone to start the game? Why did Bakery Sare start? Where was Beqiraj?
Matjaž Kek is an excellent coach.
I wish he could be our national team coach one day. I swear, he’d take us to the next level.
When he coached Slovenia, he eliminated Guus Hiddink’s Russian squad when they qualified for the WC2010. They were even more impressive in the World Cup and England were EXTREMELY lucky to squeeze by Slovenia to get to the next round
I can’t imagine what Kek could achieve with a Luka Modrić and a Mario Mandžukić in his ranks.

“It looks like I’m buying my playoff tickets with…….
ELECTRIC FLOODLIGHTS!!!!!! hahaha!
http://tinyurl.com/nvyxzjs
@Billy – hahaha, check this out from their Wikipedia page:
The club’s name comes from the name of the region in which Razgrad is located – the Ludogorie region of north-eastern Bulgaria, a name literally meaning crazy forest.
The club’s home colors are green and white. Ludogorets’ home base is the Ludogorets Arena in Razgrad, a stadium with capacity of 8,000 seats and electric floodlights
The Bay Leaves have a larger stadium….and why did they need to add the fact that “yes, we have it a floodlights” in their team bio. – haha
I’m really happy Dinamo lost today. Hopefully we just implode, the stadium catches on fire, and we get to rebuild the stadium and the club.
@Bobby V
It looks like I’m buying my playoff tickets in…….
LUDOGORETS!!!!!!
Stimac should put Kranjcar right behind Mandzukic and play with a “striker and a half”. Mandzo the threat inside the box where he can wait for the crosses, and Niko to finish up attacks up the middle with his outside shooting. It is the best option we have at the moment.
The game on Friday means little to Belgium. Can’t see them wanting to attack, they may even rest a few starters. They won’t risk playing anyone with a card because they will want a full squad against Wales (at home) four days later. They will definitely play for a tie.
Dinamo could not beat Zadar over the weekend – no surprise they lose today. In fact, they looked better in the Champions League the last few years than they do in the Europa.
@majstore
Agreed!
Stimac is one of, if not the biggest idiots of them all. That goes without saying. Back to Dinamo, the only way they ever bring in a high profile name is if they grossly overpay manager x’s market value. And that ain’t happening.
@ olly
Well, it has been a once in a lifetime thing for Rijeka as we never made the group stages of anything in Europe.
I mean for those that don’t know, you can see it in the ‘Honours’ section of Wikipedia… a few Balkans Cups (which mean dick), 2 Croatian Cups and two Yugo Cups and aside from that, Rijeka really haven’t had too much Euro action to cheer about…
@poglavnik:
Spot on about Belgium
Let’s just all go ahead and say it.
ZDRAVKO MAMIC SHOULD BE DINAMO’S NEXT COACH.
Its not just about coaches – i believe Rijeka have more desire to succede and to enjoy European football than Dinamo. Dinamo dont treat European nights with real enjoyment. We just seem to turn up and dont really care what the result is. They get paid well either way. Rijeka are treating it as a once in a lifetimes experience.
Dinamo’s team is not hard to manage. Jurcic outcast Bequiraj for no reason which we cant afford to do. We’re not Real Madrid that can sign a player for a lot of money and leave him to rot. Ivankovic’s result in HNL1 have been poor. Its not just this European game. HNL1 is the basics and he cant even get the basics right at present. We beat Osijek just 1-0 and Loko beat them 5-0. We’re just not playing well under this coach.
@majstore
However, if Jurcic, Cacic, and Ivankovic are idiots, and they are, what does that make Stimac?
@majstore
Exactly, and that is what I meant as the coaching carousel continues…..
Lol @ bringing in a real coach.
Question: Which half decent foreign manager with half a brain would come work for Mamic? To further that, if you had a good résumé and Maminjo was offering you a gig would you as an honest professional take it?
I rest my case.
Have fun with idiots like jurcic, cacic and ivankovic.
Dinamo should see if they can resurrect Sjor Ivic from the dead…
Prosinecki Cico Kranjcar Bjelica Nkovac Bilic Soldo Prso Tudor all better than Stimac
WTF! What the hell is going on in Washington D.C.???
@Colin
It was Zoran Mamic that totally blew the second game against Austria Wien in Austria.
Jurcic is by no means a good coach but it was not his fault that Zelenika let in some crap goals in the first leg of the Austria Wien game in Zagreb and it was not his fault that Rukavina decided to be one of the quickest red card candidates in history.
Jurcic is a better coach than Mamic and Ivankovic and he is a better coach than Stimac. Although that is not saying much.
Bring in a REAL coach!
@ Ziva thats true Bring back Otto Baric instead stimac i miss his haveji shirts
Best Dinamo Coach was pokojni Kuze,
They are all the same. There is a reason no croatian coach has any success or is even wanted by western european clubs. All of our coaches are in the far east or middle east.
I’m waiting for a Mamic meltdown. He is due a for a press conference tomorrow.
Regards Srdjan Lakic – he’s a decent player. Wolfsburg and Eintract has not worked out for him – but you choose players on how they are performing. For example i believe England are playing Rickie Lambert as their number 9 when he’s only just playing his first seasons in the Premier League at age 30. You pick players in form. Lakic is out of form at present there was a time he was playing well. Of course he should not play for Croatia now. He’s too old now anyway.
Simple at that.
Leon Benko did little at Nuremburg and Standard Liege, but he;s been excellant at Rijeka. If he gets the call on Standby for Croatia then thats fine cos MLADEN PETRIC or ANTE VUKUSIC certainly does not deserve a call up. At least Benko;s worked his arse of and produced some great moments for his club.
In all honesty, Dinamo looked the best this year during the few games when they were coached by Zoran Mamic. Hate to admit it, but it’s true. Ivankovic has done nothing creative with this team and I’m tired of him already. He’s no different than Jurcic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbPJbGPTxT0
THis was a team ten years ago hahah maybe it happens agian hahah!
Sammir man of the match
Htv should get Stimac in studio to go over tactics since he is king of tactics!
@ olly tomecak didnt play beacuse he isnt a mamic player just like Kramaric!
Watching the Game Sammir desrves to be Destka for Croatia hahahahah Stimac cigane jebo te mamic.
Regarding Kranjcar – I think he has the ability to change a game in a heartbeat, this is a very debatable topic…does he defend well, I’d say not really…is he capable of making that pass, cross, long range shot that can change a game…FAR BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE WE HAVE IN MIDFIELD…hands down! The problem with using him is how do you support his lack of defensiveness? I like him but do know he has a huge upside and also a downside…in my opinion, his upside outweighs his downside!
regarding Europa League – its not as shitty as some of you here make it out to be…some of the bigger teams have scheduling challenges and they have a hard time weighing whether its important to utilize their star players for a possible future payout where if they get to certain stages then they can make some money or to use them to better their standing in their own league! The days between games (Europa League vs Club League) sometimes isnt enough to justify playing certain players, there are injury risks and fatigue issues.
Not happy at Dinamo under Ivankovic. Are actually worse than we were under Jurcic. Mamic and Krznar was doing better than this pile of rubbish. We need a centre forward playing not two widemen up front. We were fine playing the three. get Bakary Sare out the team. Mathias Chago is better than him. Why is he playing – making the team negative. We have Brozovic and Ademi in there. Dont need no Bakary Sare as well.
I must say Leon Benko is playing some great stuff at the moment. If Rijeka or Loko’s win the title this season i will not be bothered as they deserve it more than we do at the moment. As for Ivan Tomecak – what can i say? This guy was always a decent player that we just didn’t play enough.
Benko before Jelavic at the moment imo.
Hajduk and Rijeka have better teams than dinamo at the moment
@majstore……..don’t laugh, but there have actually been people on here posting in the past who thought Lakic should be on the repka.
Sorry dude jebi ga.! But i know alteast im right!
After watching this performance from Dinamo, it makes Hajduk’s 2-0 win over them a few weeks ago look like nothing. Shit, Hajduk should have killed them by a bigger score.
Srdjan Lakic with a goal today, IMO he should start v Belgium
; )
@19Miro50…..brate, use punctuation when you type. Your posts are tough to read and follow. You are prooving the stereotype about Splicani to be correct.
3-0. I would definitely say “ashamed”
Two free goals now it’s 3 – 0
back to croatia Belgium are without hazard and benteke is 50-50 they will come to zagreb and attack us they dont fear us imo so we should if we had a smart coach counter them and not give them posjet lopte i really dont care for the game as it dont mean shit it should have been the game of the A group but no we lose to b scotland team ajme majko Stmac smece jedno.. most likely his 11 will be Pletikosa Vida Carli Lovren Strinic Rakitic Modric Vukojevic Lm?Kranjcar/Kovacic/Perisic Mandzukic Olic
This result should not be surprising. It’s the Rijeka result I was surprised with (good for them). Does anyone even remember Dinamo’s games vs the same team last year? They barely advanced (8th minute of injury time winner from Vida) and they advanced when arguably the better team over both ties went home.
Well Dinamo aint winning HNL i hope but mamic will fix that this team is terrible mamic keeping his crap players a dinamo Mamic doesnt care about Dinamo only money if mamic wasnt such a kreten this years dinamo eam would have looked like this Golman he would have gotten Delac on loan Delac Tomecak Simunic Pavlovic(loan werder)Gorupec-Ademi Brozovic Halilovic Soudani Cop Kramaric.
I’m hoping the crowd doesn’t show up. Can wait to hear what ticket scam they have going on for this. Buy one and get 9 free??????
MAMICU CIGANE ODLAZI IZ SVETINJE
@ Ziva your right i would sell croatian team stock and coach.
Belgium were rebuilding and now have a team we whould have a team but no coach and lack of disapline imo we canno have a puppet as coach like stimac from his first gaem v swiss leaving like a bitch and saying croatia will play tiki taka lolololol bashing rakitic against makedonija in public, starting radosevic v belgium away only his team v serbia in march was ok, sammir v scotland and olic left wing eduardo dm? i think if Bilic were coach or anyone this game next week would have meant something now imagine this they beat belgium it get to the coaches head and we underestimate our playoff team e moj stimac jebo te mamic i hope the crowd is negative to hns
@Ziva
I hear you about europa league and it shows in how they are playing. Seems they would rather watch paint dry.
I wouldn’t say ashamed. Look, they were in the Champions League for the last few years. Going to the Europa League (no matter how underserving Dinamo is of Champions League) play is a really let down. Tough to get motivated in a second-tier competition against teams that are not big names.
This is on Dinamo’s coaching staff to get them ready to play.
@Colin
damn right they should be ashamed, impressed that Rijeka got a point but don’t see them progressing or Dinamo
Shows you how bad the HNL is.
Dinamo down 2-0. they should be ashamed. :/
@poglavnik……..nothing so far that would indicate this belgium squad would implode. To be fair, they really have not faced any adversity (never liked that term how American sports fans/announcers use it). Everything has gone their way so far. True test of a team and character and leadership is how they respond when a result or situation doesn’t go their way. But, what we have watched so far………I would buy stock in this belgium team. and i would sell stock in this Croatian team.
On paper.
Keep in mind they haven’t qualified for a tournament in a decade.
Now that they seem to be everyone’s dark horse we’ll see how they respond.
You see the way that little bitch Vertonghen’s been playing the last few weeks? Big, strong and athletic, yet playing like a cheating little bitch. Can’t stand some of his actions this year.
Never liked the Belgians!
They’re a shitty cross between the Dutch and the French.
I would just love to take all 3 points from them at Maksimir.
We better come out playing to win cuz we are definitely capable!
@ Poglavnik they do look better than Croatia come on there the Croatia of euro 2008
Oh boy, nice job goalie.
Fuck Belgium!
Bunch of Rakitic’s…
Just because they look like a Premier League fantasy team doesn’t mean they’re gonna bring it all together.
I’m hoping for lots of in-fighting and racism.
Two traits they’re usually known for.
Popis belgijskih reprezentativaca za Hrvatsku i Wales:

Dinamo gubi jadni ste. wow mamic ruined dinamo imo all mamic player on the roster i think a fan could have made a better team Jebo vas Sammir u guzu i usta
Kranjcars best postiotion is CAM behind one or two strikers bilic and rednapp made hima lm to cut and shoot under 15-21 niko was a SS or CAM. so against Big teams if stimac wants to play 4-5-1 niko middfield can look like rakitic modric kovacic vukojevic kranjcar
I never doubted the skill of Kranjcar – still dont – but he has flaws as well. Out of shape and defensive responsibilties. Now, if we put him in a spot where he doesn’t have to worry as much about defensive resp. then that will work.
If you own a team/stadium, you don’t care if they come there to watch the game. You just want them there to spend money. Money on booze and shitty food watching the game, money on overpriced merchandise or money in the lounge/restaurants on meals. As long as they are there.
Personally, I prefer to go to sporting venues where I don’t have to smell like crap.
Ziva, LOL. I never said I was more qualified I just know the facts and know team sports, and have payed attention to our boys throughout the years. This whole thing started with you commenting about Niko having one good game. Well, talent and ability is just the opposite of one game. Niko is a proven entity.
Does a person ever forget how to ride a bike?
Good job by Rijeka today.
Mishko right on brate ( no sarcasm intended)
I’m pretty damn good at beer pong, darts and bocce ball
Ziva had a hand in the US Govt shutdown. He put in his GOP vote from the fortified basement I bet…
@Ziva
God, you and your stadium amenities.
A sushi bar, at a football stadium, in the middle of Kansas… That sounds fuckin gross!
I think Id’ rather wait till after the game, go to a proper restaurant, and not over-pay for some terrible quality food.
Do you actually promote all this capitalistic bullshit that goes in stadiums these day?.
Trying to appeal to every Tom, Dick, and Harry so they come to your stadium to watch sports? If they’re not there to watch the GAME then I wouldn’t even want them in the building.
You must be a Republican…
My beloved Rijeka hanging tough with Betis!
SAMO RIJEKA
and LMAO @ Mishko… c’mon bro, paintball champ? you rode motorcycles, racec jetskis lolol dude I would of been more impressed if you won a local briskula tournament!
Ohh, ok. We’re on two different sides of the country here. Nevermind.
San Fransisco, at the time they had a great soccer program.
listen, if you think being a champ at shooting color-filled pellets at others makes you more qualified to discuss soccer, then more power to you.
@Mishko – Ahh those Irish! Bastards. I’m sure CSU was plenty of fun as well. Just to clarify, are we talking about USF University of S. Florida, or U of San Fransisco?
@Ziva, regardless of your snide comments me and my team were the best in the world. And you can never say you were a world champion. Maybe the world champion prick of CSR.but I don’t think you get paid to travel the world doing that, or do you?

@Colin – Long story short. My Irish step-dad, the son of bitch, had me shipped to Colorado State a week after I came back from boarding school in May of 83. I got the scholarship notice after I had already started summer school at CSU. Joined a fraternity lots of TNA and 3.2 bear for an 18 year old enticed me to stay. Talk about bad decisions.
.
are you serious????????? You are going to equate paintball with soccer. Come on, you got to be joking or you are trying to be funny.
Shit, who knew there was a paintball league. Did you make it into the knockout rounds of the Paintball Champions League? Do they sing the Champions League anthem when you come out for player introductions?
And racing bikes, cars, tricycles, wagons and horse carriages is not a sport. Just like golf, racing and sailing is not a sport. It’s a hobby.
@Mishko – You had a soccer scholarship to USF? When did you go? Did you play? What years?
2 time world paintball champion, I’ve played against the English, French, Germans, South Americans Russians, Special Forces etc and shot all of them. But regardless of what you might think it’s very much a team sport. I also had a soccer scholarship to USF, raced jetskis, motorcycles, played rugby and on and on and on.
So I’ve been around the block a few times and know what it takes to win.

@Denis Svircic
“However, never ever ever ever ever Modric-Kranjcar-Rakitic combination.”
Haha!!!!!
I think that combination was used in our 1-0 loss to Georgia? I also believe that Dujmovic completed the midfield? Wow, that is slow! Not that I disagree with you in anyway, but to make your point more succinct, remove Modric from the equation.
My logic, Kranjčar and Rakitic have snail like pace whereas Luka can boogie when he has to. Rakitic and Kranjčar and the word pace are an impossibility. Therefore, Luka is a non-issue and it is in fact the other two gentleman who bring Luka down. My two cents is that I don’t think Luka should be the issue. The issue is the support or framework around him. My two cents.
The only way that can work is if we use a 5 man midfield and throw in Perisic and Kovacic as they have some pace. Move Kranjčar literally right behind the lone striker Mandzukic while using Perisc on the LW and Rakitic as the RW. With Modric and Kovacic behind Niko. You would be spreading the two sloths around rather than having them bunched up. I still don’t recommend it.
@Mishko……..Ok, I’ll bite. What have you been a world champ in? darts, weightlifting, the kožna frula?????
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaannd Betis tied it up with a screamer from the top of the box. 1-1.
Son of a bee 1 – 1

Here’s a link to the match if anyone is interested. Betis is looking tough, but damn, Rijeka is determined
HOLY SWEET LEON BENKO!!!!! What a goal!!!! Rijeka up 1-0
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAL
@Armada, I don’t Niko personally but I think he’s been pissed off for the past 2 years, but his quality is there. I also really like Pranjic at left back, he’s massive quality.
Regardless, I have no say in the team, just my humble opinion.
Anyway the Rijeka game just started on ESPN 3
.
I’m happy for Niko and hopefully he resurrects his career at QPR, but as others have mentioned, two games don’t warrent a call-up.
Do you know how many Croatian players have ‘a few good games’ or maybe a string of good games? Does each guy deserve a call-up/cap? Hell no. Look at Benko – he’s been on fire since last year for Rijeka and he’s just now getting call-up’s, but he’s no where near starting. Yes, Niko has a history with the NT and is a notch or two higher in quality than Benko, but Niko has been out of form for YEARS, not just a month or a season. Let the guy work his way back and get back in form, then we can talk about getting him back in the midfield rotation.
Its so hard to put our midfield together with our best players cause they all play the same natural position. 3 or 4 of them will always play out of their natural position. Modric, Rakitic, Kranjcar, Kovacic all play makers at their natural positions.
@Ziva he’s always performed well for the NK and has also scored a lot for us so get bent. Every sport is pretty simple put more points up than the other team.
I’m so sick of your fucking know it all bullshit. BTW have you ever been a world champion at anything? I have, so I have some experience on what it takes to win., and it’s more about heart and team cohesion than anything else.
.
with the way our midfield has been playing, might not be a bad idea to start kranjcar. However, never ever ever ever ever Modric-Kranjcar-Rakitic combination.
right, he should start because he played one good game in the last 6 months??????
He doesn’t deserve to start, but if he is what we need to kick start the offense, then he actually may. Will depend on how he looks in training.
Also anyone see these highlights of Kranjcar from last weekend? I know it’s the Champions league but he looks really good.

Definitely should start against Belgium.
.
BTW – Looks like ESPN 3 is going to be showing the Rijeka game.
.
Yes a sushi bar sounds awesome.
Ps. http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/
USA !!! USA !!! USA !!!
Good Luck to Dinamo and Rijeka..Go get them boys.
New stadiums in today’s age need bars/cafes and upscale establishments to eat. Great sushi bar in the Kansas City stadium for MLS. Suites with HD TVs, wi-fi service throughout the stadium, HD scoreboard, etc….all of that is needed today to entertain fans.
I agree…to walk down Pulska ulica and to look down and see the pitch, Adriatic and Istra coastline, it’s a beautiful thing!
I mean I don’t get it either, all the Hajdukovi on here cream their pants when talking about Poljud and don’t get me wrong, for all the shit talking I do, it IS a nice stadium, but those views that Kantrida have are really second to none. If the new Kantrida can keep views of the jadransko more and cliffs and still build a modern stadium with all the ammenities, can host UEFA ties and has waiter service, wifi, etc. for Ziva – the new Kantrida would be the nicest stadium in Croatia, hands down.
But again, until they break ground on a new stadium, I really don’t believe much of this… They’ve been talking of a new Kantrida for years…
New Kantrida stadium looks good, but I’m sad to see the loss of the adriatic view, and iconic cliff. They should open up a section of the north side that reveals the cliff…
I’ll be happy if Rijeka keep it somewhat close. No blow out please.
Don’t see either of the teams getting a result tbh. Perhaps I’ll be wrong, somehow I doubt it though.
The 39th Annual Australia & New Zealand Croatian Soccer Tournament is now on.
Check out the website.

Speaking of Rijeka…
Here are some pics of the new Kantrida designs:

Good to see no track and that it’s a football only stadium. Also like the blue cross theme that they introduced onto their uniforms this year, extending into the stands as well.
Too bad the cliff side is blocked along with the view of the sea. Aerial shots of the stadium will still be nice with it being by the sea, but it looks like that cliffside is going to covered up with nice slabs of beton (classic Yugo style, lol).
