Dinamo Zagreb did what they had to Tuesday night in Macedonia and pulled off a 1-0 clean sheet victory to move onto the next round of Champions League qualifying. They will meet Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad next week before heading back to Zagreb for the return leg. Ademi scored the lone goal of the match on a half open goal from the middle of the box.
Rebic looked pretty good today vs Tudor’s Marseilles. I was thinking…his game is really improving, then he gets a stupid, unnecessary yellow. So now I’m still on the fence.
Marin Ljubicic with the go ahead goal for his side with just a few minutes to go in that one.
Other preseason news…
Zvonarek scored his first goal for bayerns 2nd team today, Vidovic also played in that game ( hate that)
Nikola Vlasic has impressed this preseason in the #10 spot
Lovro Majer still in the Rennes lineup
Zvonarek scored and assisted in Bayern II 3-2 win. ( German 4th league)
Vidovic and Zvonarek both need a loan unless Bayern has plans to get them real minutes with the first team this year!
SERENETY NOW!
Sorry kid…yoy don’t get it…I was quoting Frank Costanza.. from a show that was popular back in the day. Fucking kids these days!
Love that saying : Serenity Now! I think it was George Costanza that said that! “No Soup for you” Eric! Let’s hope for a very much “Festivus” fall for all our Croatian Players.
ANTE YOU LITTLE FAGGOT, YOU CAN’T CENSOR THE TRUTH YOU LITTLE FAGGOT. I’LL BASH YOU LYING ANTIWHITE RATS SKULLS IN.
Easy, darby
Have you seen ” What about Bob”?
Not sure why this comment is viewed as appropriate by you or why you chose to type every letter in caps to accentuate your point.
I am at a loss for words….
What does it.have to do with soccer again??
Seriously stanisic should move out of bayern..there is no way he is gonna play any minutes..pavard is supposed to play CB..but he still seems to be first choice RB now..followed by mazraoui..esp when de ligt is signed.
This is even worse than last season..when mazraoui is not even in squad..stanisic cant even play after getting covid.
Worst part is he wants to stay and fight for his spot.
Does anyone know if Gvardiol’s injured? I was hoping to see him with the Leipzig squad today.
Anyone can update the status of the following players?
Benkovic: is he performing in udinese?
Ante coric: is he leaving roma?
Rog: is he moving anywhere?
Balic: is he moving anywhere?
Sosa: is he staying?
Barisic staying too?
Pongracic staying too?
Benkovac played the full match yesterday. I have no idea how he did.
Barisic played the full match today with a 7.4 Sofascore rating. The Rangers also told Katic to take a hike and find another club.

Once again a bad day for Croatian Clubs in Europe. Osijek had 70% possesion, yet failed to create any clear cut chances in the entire match. Towards the end of the match you could hear the chants from the crowd BJELICA ODLAZI. Bjelica should be sacked after this debacle. Rijeka as expected lost in Sweden on a plastic pitch. Dinamo struggled to beat a team from Macedonia. Hajduk in all probability will be eliminated by Vitoria from Portugal. Just shows you how bad the standard is in HNL.
“Just shows you how bad the standard is in HNL.”
Well, it also demonstrates that other clubs in Europe are progressing. Mostly because of their import players but overall, we often see things too simple and don’t realize that there’s several different variables that make a club win or lose. Sometimes its experience, other times its tactic and player selection.
Learning “how to win” is a BIG part of all this! Some weaker teams have better results because they have a better strategy. As you mentioned above, Osijek had 70% of the play and couldn’t score…that means they statistically should have won but did a poor job creating goal scoring chances and then scoring while the Khazak team that was ready for their opportunities and made them count!
Last season in the HNL was a great indication of how certain teams choked right when they needed the result. Both Rijeka and Osijek were disappointing while Hajduk are probably the closest to being a competitor…they need 3 or 4 players to make things very interesting. If they can get some decent players to fill in when there are injuries or to give players like Livaja, Sahiti and Biuk a rest while still being dangerous, they’re gonna be a really good team.
I liked the last HNL season, except for the last 3-4 games when Osijek and Rijeka stumbled…and their overall lack of experience is why our teams do poorly in Europe. They need more depth, better strategy and a coach that can “WIN”…someone that isn’t scared to set out a plan and ensure the team can unite under that plan!
Agree with your comments. Teams that played against our clubs, from what I saw on Maxsport TV had better quality imports. Apart from Dinamo, all our other clubs do not have the money to buy quality import players so they should concentrate on playing and developing their own youth players. Coaching in Croatia is also poor. Bjelica stuffed up badly and is to blame for Osijek being eliminated.
With European club competitions from 2023/24 UEFA is bringing in some changes. The number of teams participating in various competitions will be based on association club coefficient as was the case up to now. However, from 2023/24 it is going to be tougher if your clubs are ranked outside the top 15 associations.
Croatian clubs are currently ranked 19th and dropping. Unless other clubs help Dinamo our ranking will drop even further, meaning that most of our clubs will only be playing qualifiers for the third tier conference league. Lets be honest if it was not for Dinamo our club coefficient would not be in top 30 ? In this regard Hajduk has been a huge under achiever over the years contributing very little towards our club coefficient.
As much as I want Hajduk to win I don’t understand some of the player choices. Nikola Kalinic would not have been a choice for me personally, I would have found someone as an import if there was no option in Croatia.
They need a better supporting striker and potentially a stronger midfield. Possession in some games can be an issue for Hajduk.
I wouldn’t go as far to say Croatian coaching sux. Nah, they still produce world class players so it can’t be coaching.
We’ll Always be good but we’re going to go thru lulls like every nation big or small.
All in all, we’re doing ok.
On a good note, Zrinski made it to the next round.
I thought this new “watered down” conference league was supposed to give our teams a chance to compete in europe. Looks like they’re not even good enough for this shitty tournament. Hopefully Hajduk can at least make it to the group stage to help save the HNL coefficient.
What the hell was that today? I’ll give Rijeka a pass. Had to go on the road and win after a shit first leg. But Osijek??? all they needed was a draw at home and bottle it. Come on.
They’re not getting a post on the website today. Awful.
Terrible match from Osijek. They have some good players (Skoric, Kleinheisler, Beljo), but it’s a second-rate team. They were just dominated by a team with a single skilled player whom they couldn’t stop and a keeper who would look really good in the HNL
Halilovic ghosts once again and Rijeka are bounced out of the Conference League by Swedish champions
Ain’t looking so good for Osijek either. What a total shit show…they couldn’t buy a goal!
“The ghost of Halilovic” I like it
Chelsea, Tottenham, and ManU interested in Gvardiol:
Its all just speculation, but where do you think he should go? Is he ready for the Premier League or should he stay at RB for another season?
https://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/rubrika/nogomet/tottenham-chelsea-i-manchester-united-zele-joska-gvardiola—735171.html
Well clearly the real question is how much china loses if he comes to the mighty gunners. We are back!! All we need is a couple of croatians and the champions league trophy is on it’s way to north London!! We finish above spurs, man utd and chelsea this season
Do people truly want this young talent in the prem?
Worries about playing time…burnout and or injuries if he’s actually a full time starter…then the mental aspect to his confidence, if he has a major blunder in a key game which the English media will be all over I.E. lovren!
Staying where he is for a year or two is not a bad thing for his development.
I don’t recall a Croat ever at MAN U?
Has there ever been one ,they do tend to love the Serbs.
Your right, he’d be the first Croatian ever to play for ManU. I would prefer Chelsea, or Spurs, so he could play with Kova, or Perisic.
I usually hate when our guys go to EPL, but I feel like he’s a different breed, and might excel there.
The best talents need the biggest teams and stages to truly shine, our hope should be that he is that type of player! As long as he gets minutes, let it be MAN U, Chelsea or Tottenham
Man U seems like a toxic place to play so I hope he doesn’t go there at this point in his career. Very high expectations and a lot of prima donna’s.
Ibra is half Croatian, so we can settle at that and say we had a Croat play there.
End of story. I wouldn’t want any one of our guys at ManU until that club gets its act together.
Saying ibra is a croat is a far stretch he’s NEVER once stated he’s Croatian.
I suppose you identify djokovic as Croatian also Maminjo?
If you don’t state or identify as a proud CROAT you are NOT Croatian!!
Actually he did after our most recent World Cup run…
Ibra is NOT a Croat he stated his mom was Croatian,a big difference sorry!
Go get your booster Boris, lol
You are a poster boy for hypocrisy Maminjo I notice how you tend to jump to “correct!” So many posters on here even if it’s a very debatable point, yet when someone does it to you.?
A silly sarcastic rebuttal is thrown their way!
Ibra is a Bosnian Swede case closed!
If you’re an effing Croat you SPORT THE CHECKERS!
It doesn’t change the fact that both Ibrahimovic and Djokovic’s mothers are Croats.
Sure, they may be Yugos mentally but they’re still ethnically half Croats.
You of all people shouldn’t be so quick to judge people.
You were on here a few months ago, cheering on government austerity measures against unvaccinated people…which to me, mirrors exactly what a Yugo at heart would do.
A true Croat doesn’t turn on their own in favor of the government, or else we’d have no Croatia today. There were lots like you back in the 90s, who turned on their own in support of the government’s policies on the country’s so-called deplorables. Lots of UDBa supporting morons back then, who then flipped sides when it was popular to do so.
So, don’t come on here talking about being some big Croat who sports the checkers, when you’d be the first to call the cops on any one of us here if it was against the law to not wear a mask.
Now you resort to lies truth seeker?
Either it was another Boris or you’re full of govno!
I have never once commented on the vaccine issue, what someone decides to do to their body is their decision…we might as well debate Abortion now.
I assume you think pusilic is a hrvat too?You think their wasn’t false promises agreed upon when they gave him a Croatian passport?
Eduardo who didn’t have an ounce of Croatian blood in him is FAR more of a Croat than pulusic and you know it!
It’s not bloodlines but the blood sweat and tears and PRIDE Eduardo or a guy who like Srna who was supposedly Serb had when they put on the checkers!
Ibra is NOT CROATIAN!
I agree you with Boris. People tend to cherry pick whose a Croatian these days.Mainly
Based on their athletic achievements, and watered down DNA.
Ask zlatan what he is and he would never say he’s Croatian
Have you ever asked him? 😉
https://www.croatiaweek.com/zlatan-ibrahimovic-talks-about-his-croatian-heritage-luka-modric/
The former Barcelona, Inter Milan, PSG and Manchester United star then talked briefly about being proud of the Croatian heritage he shares with Modrić.
“Me and my mother being from Croatia, he’s Croatian so I am happy. It’s part of the blood,” he added.
Ah, my mistake. It was Baka, not Boris.
Baka and I were going back and forth on the vaxx issue a few months ago and I got my ‘B’ names mixed up.
However, you still did make a sarcastic comment playing down the Catholic church burnings, so you lose some ‘true Croat’ points…bringing your overall score to ‘Dino Radja’ level.
If you go to church every Sunday and stop dipping your cevapi in ketchup, then your score will improve I promise.
🙂
I agree with you on Eduardo. But we’re talking about two different things.
There’s being a true Croat patriot, and then there’s being an ethnic Croat.
Let’s face it, it’s no coincidence that Ibra is 6’5″ tall, athletic, and a technically gifted footballer. He has “Dalmacija” written all over him with those physical traits and footballing creativity.
It’s no surprise that France’s best ever handballers are some freakishly tall and athletic 6’8″ and 6’10” Karabatic brothers.
No surprise that one of Canada’s best all time boxers (George Cuvalo), and one of the USA’s greatest MMA fighters (Stipe Miocic) were a couple of big-headed un-knockout-able Dalmatinci/Hercegovci.
Also not surprised that the USA’s probably most talented player of all time is a third generation Croat (in Pulisic).
You can argue the degree of ‘Croatian’ of each of these guys (based on their pride for it, language skills, visiting the homeland, etc.) but you cannot dismiss the fact that they’re ethnically Croat (whether they like it or not).
Re: Pulisic…
There was no false promise. The HNS asked him if he was interested in playing for us, and he was honest with them and said that he wasn’t (understandably because he’s third generation American).
However, he has every right to a Croatian passport, just like any of us diaspora Croats. So he got one as it gives him EU citizen status. You can disagree with why he did it, but he’s entitled to it, just like any one of us.
Also, Srna is half Bosniak (not Serb). Serbs burned his grandmother alive in WW2.
(just wanted to correct you on that tidbit, as I know you appreciate it, and I don’t want you to make that mistake the next time you run into Srna)
Ahh maminjo doing his best search engine work again, but again You’re confusing me with someone else as far as these church burnings.. like you did the vax issue?it’s taken you a few days to respond ,your Wikipedia and Google searches must have numbered into the 1000’s,and don’t say you’re a busy guy you’re on here daily.. multiple times trying to prove how you’re an expert on each and every subject and all things Croatian!
My point was if you ASKED ibra what nationality he was he would NOT state that he was Croatian.
Let’s leave it at that 😉
I was at church on Sunday, so naturally I wouldn’t respond.
This is why my True Croat score is Modric level and yours is Dino Radja. But there’s time to improve your rank, don’t worry.
Btw, here is the link with your comment playing down the church burnings in Canada:

Tsk Tsk. Sram te bilo.
Also, Ibra did refer to himself and his mother as both coming from Croatia.
https://www.croatiaweek.com/zlatan-ibrahimovic-talks-about-his-croatian-heritage-luka-modric/
So, someone asked and that’s how he responded. By stating he was Croatian, lol. There’s even a video for you.

We’ve been reading speculations about Gvardiol for several months and I just hope wherever he goes is a good place for him. I think it’s a waste of time we keep speculating…
His club said they won’t sell him this season and I hope that’s true!
Could be a negotiating tactic…but at the same time, they have all the big money clubs chasing him and they know if they can wait a year they could probably get another 20 million on top of what he’s worth today.
It’s a dangerous game because if you hold on too long, you’ll end up like Lazio with Milinkovic-Savic when they could have scored about 100M for him a couple of years ago. Now he’s worth around half that.
The youth hype is very real with these clubs, lol. If Gvardiol puts up another good year, then his price will go through the roof.
But one injury or off-year and the hype disappears.
Roko simic came on at half time vs Liverpool today. Subbed of in 75th min, anyone know what happened, saw he picked up a yellow
Dunno.
Is he still at Liefering? Or has he been promoted to Salzburg full time?
I think he may have a minor injury, which is why his minutes have been limited so far this summer… but there is nothing left for him to prove at Liefering, another season there would be truly a wasted year!
It really depends on who, if anyone Salzburg can move in this window.. if I were him I would demand Salzburg time or a loan move for time in a relevant league, he has earned that!
Salzburg full time. He’s number 3 in the pecking order though, behind Sesko and Okafor so he’ll get his minutes in the 60-70th minute of games when he’s subbed on. He should pray to God either of them leaves (good chance Man U prematurely swoops up the Slovene, which would be great for Simic).
Yea, Roko score at an almost 80% clip at Liefering.
But I hate the idea of him just playing injury time minutes.
He should just go on loan at Hajduk 😉
Dalic would 100% call him up for the next game in Split, lol
This was an aweful game! Hard on the eye! Dinamo will have to improve by a massive amount to get past Ludogorets.
Current form suggests we’ve got little chance of progressing.
Agreed. The next round will be much more difficult, and Dinamo’s form is pretty bad right now. Even though it should have been 3:0, this team shouldn’t have given Dinamo so much problem. The Menalo goal was clearly not offside, and Petkovic was being way too clever when he tried to “dance around the keeper” in a one-on-one breakaway.
I remember why I hated Ante Cacic …
Clueless
Absolute disservice to the dinamo squad that he is the coach!
Petkovic working hard today and looking like he’s getting back in form! He’s made a lot of nice passes and plays!
Overall, this Shkupi team is hard to break through. They play 9 men behind the ball at all times and there’s little room to do much.
Dinamo was unlucky to not have another goal, let’s hope this result stays 1-0 for us!
Bruno is probably just trying to make the last-minute cut for the World Cup squad, lol
I’m sure he is. So are many guys and hopefully this creates some healthy competition for positions.
Over under 2.5 balls snatched out of the air by livakovic?
..and yes, Dinamo will win today!
Pelješac Bridge to open today…historic event connecting the south of Croatia. The opening ceremony is live on HRT1 at 2pm today. Rimac Nevera will be the first car to drive across officially.
The thing looks nice.
Best part is that the EU paid for almost all of it, despite Bosna whining and crying about it the whole way.
The second best part is, that the Chinese Bridge and Road Company had to stall every other project during the pandemic because this was their flagship infrastructure project in Europe that they wanted to showcase to the West.
But in doing so, they burned all bridges in Central and Eastern Europe because of all the infrastructure projects that they bailed on, just so they could deliver on the Peljesac bridge on time.
Lithuania, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and several other countries have a bunch of halted projects now, and they will have to cancel the existing contracts and go to public tender to get these project finished with new contractors.
China loses a lot. Europe loses a little. Croatia wins big.
Lol. Stupid comment.
“China loses a bit. Europe less a little. Croatia wins big”
Do some reading and study a bit before you make an ass out of yourself. Lol
Found the angry Bosniak 😉
It’s more about the fact that a lot of these projects are being taken away from Croats. People there do not have any job prospects, or any work.
If I read into the response correctly, I think that’s what he meant.
Your post has the desire for white flight written all over it.
There is no goals away rule, so I’m confident that Dinamo will win, even if its in extra time. The quality is on their side and if Livakovic and the defenders can keep mistakes to a bare minimum they should win.
Yes
