Third division Croatian soccer club, Dugopolje, opened up their brand new stadium in a friendly against neighbors Hajduk Split Thursday night. The 5,200 seat stadium is part of a larger complex which also includes tennis courts and what looks to be an Olympic size swimming pool.
This is fantastic news that Croatia is building new stadiums and sports complexes in its communities. However, I have a few questions regarding this new stadium in Dugopolje.
Why build a new stadium for a third division team? This new stadium blows Prva Liga venues out of the water. Granted it only holds 5,200 people, the soccer-only field has great sighlines as fans sit right on top of the action. Just imagine it on a bigger scale.
Who financed the operation? We all know that third division teams aren’t exactly huge moneymakers. Did the city of Dugopolje or nearby Split front the cash for the complex or is this (hate to say it) another mafia related experiment?
HAJDUK TAKES THE OPENING MATCH 2-0
Nonetheless, the stadium is beautiful and should urge other cities and clubs to build as well. Maksimir needs to be torn down and replaced with a new state-of-the-art stadium in my opinion as even Poljud needs a nice remodel. I hope this is only the start for Croatia as they push towards being an eventual host for Euro Cup.
you can't see lovrek to hajduk happening, but they have to do something. I think if they keep their current strikeforce they are there for the taking. i think half the division could take points from them. Its meaningless having any decent midfield player if there is no scorer in the club. Zec is probably the target, but if not him they need someone else. Who do you think they should buy with Kalinic money?
hajduk already has enought junk, dont need any additional junk
Re: who'll score the goals.
Sounds like Sibernik have no intention to sell Zec to Hajduk due to German clubs wanting him that can pay their £2m to 3m asking price.
Just wandering what do you think to the idea of Hajduk signing Krunoslav Lovrek on a free transfer or short term deal. The guy is proven in HNL and struck up a great partnership with Ibricic at Zagreb. Considering all the mercenaries and unproven strikers Hajduk been linked with Lovrek in comparison may be a cheap gamble worth taking. I'm sure he'll relish a move to Hajduk to revive his career. The only worry would be if he can stay fit, but Hajduk can analyse all that in his medical.
See link for reminder of what he can produce.

As we discussed earlier there is no young Croatian striker who fills you with confidence that he can replace Kalinic. Your lucky Gabric and Ibricic are staying. A forward needs to arrive quickly though. I don't think Vukusic and Rodic can fill the gap for long.
RE: Who'll scores your goals?
You'll be signing someone. Expect Ermin Zec to arrive as he is leaving Sibernik since he's no longer playing matches with them. Kalinic will be gone by the end of the week. Kalinic's transfer will trigger Zec to Hajduk. Crouch to Spurs and Pavyulchenko to Stuggart and Bent to Sunderland.
All Tomasav has shown so far is that he knows how miss clear chances. His play in the 2nd half of the season last year was a disaster. Was it nerves or is he just not good enough for hajduk…about to find out soon,
RE: Eliakwu
Now that's funny! From what I gather, the trial didn't work out so well. Too bad. Nevertheless, I commend the club for trying.
Hey, does anyone have a link for the entire HNL Prva Liga schedule? It's a bit of a drag not being able to look more than a week in advance.

ouch, triple post

Hey Ante,
No, thank you — no translation required. Even I could understand Ibricic's sentiments:)
Ziva, you're quite right. Hajduk seems to be without a proven replacement for Kalinic's 15 goals. Having said that, I am sure they can find someone else to take penalties. That means they need someone else to make up for the other five goals. Somehow I think they'll be okay. Surely someone else will rise to the occasion.
The question is who will score goals for them without Kalinic. No proven goal scorers on the team.
I expect Dinamo to have the league wrapped up by the 7th week. Their schedule is favorable early on as they travel outside of ZG one time in the first 13 rounds. Hajduk will probably blow points on the road. If they can somehow stay within 4 points or so by the 7th round they might have a chace.
@ Tom,
Are you asking for a translation?

What's inappropriate Argentina?
very unappropriate, stadium looks very NICE!, I like it!
Independiente's will kind of be like that, just better 😉
One question. Are they going to be blasting that nonsensical crap that makes me want to rip my ears off, known as jamaican/carribean muzak? Because if so, I'd rather stay home and get a blowjob from my next door neighbours daughter and listen to it on the radio.
