If we ever have re-institute the small goals tournament again, please consider me on the work party, until than I’ll just play Bocce.
In response to Marko S, Luka R, and Davor:
I think that instead of insulting the guy outright, which is a cheap argumentative tactic, you should engage with the arguments he made.
So in other words, list the arguments that Dukic made and establish why they are wrong based on the facts you know.
This is a terrible way of arguing and establishing truth, it’s called an ad hominem. This makes me want to side with Dukic by way of how you guys are arguing your perspective forward. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I am saying you guys are wrong or right it’s just how you are choosing to side step the arguments made by Dukic that makes your arguments less plausible here (or worth considering).
Stop insulting the guy’s accent, or the guy’s Croatianess, and from the sound of it the guys family (can’t believe as Croatian’s we often reduce ourselves to this way of arguing). Maybe instead find another way to debate the guy that would make this conversation more informative rather than being an outright slander against him.
If your not sure what an ad hominem is when you attack the character of individual rather than the thoughts they put forward.
Bear in knd I am a Hajdukovac saying this.
Bear in mind…
Bravo Dukic, thank you for your service to the community at large. Keep the faith, do not be discouraged by detractors, that goes for all of us.
After listening to Dukic I was impressed with his take and honesty on matters that impact Hajduk, Dinamo and HNL.
He called out matters which is refreshing comparing to these Torcida fanboys.
Keep up the good work Djukic.
Bog I Hrvati.
I’m raised outside of Zadar..I’m fluent in Croatian..also played soccer at a higher level then probably most of you..not sure what I said that was a lie..I have evidence and backing in regards to all my takes..when did it stop not being ok to ask questions..
That guy ruined small goals tournament for everyone. Such a shame we all had to suffer.
I am the one who organized it..would’ve been dead a long time ago..if you only knew how much work had to be put into organizing it..painting fields at 5 AM..setting up nets on goals same evening after work..coming at 5 AM day of to put out corner flags, goals, organize teams..I invited over 30 people from San Pedro to come help..you know how many came..ZERO..
Who organized it this year? You guessed it..NOBODY..I’m waiting for somebody to put their money, where their mouth is. Lot of talk, but nobody walking..
Dukic, I don’t believe for instant that you have to defend your character to anyone. All these comments aren’t worth your time responding to. It’s actually kind of sad to see a Croat speak about another Croat this way. It really is. I think you guys on this podcast were all insightful and asking i.lortant questions that are worth responding to. If people disagree with your opinion than they need to demonstrate why you were wrong. From all the responses I could read here, and I don’t have twitter by choice, haven’t really been able to show how your notions were incorrect.
No need to delve in your past bud about what you did for the sport or how you have back.
I think at the base of it all, all of us want to see success for the HNL as a whole just like how we want to see the success for the National Squad.
It’s just unfortunate that people talk like this.
There wouldn’t be a tournament without Dukic. A lot of Hrvati in so cal do a fantastic job of complaining, but no one realizes the work that goes into making these things happen. That’s why Peter stopped doing it, and Dukic was good enough to take it over.
The real reason the tournament died is because nobody plays anymore. For the guys that do play, half are too busy to even show up the weekend of the tournament.
Stop being a dummy.
Dukic is not well informed about Croatian soccer. Not a fan. Zoric on the other hand has great takes. Keep him on.
Does anyone have links about what said on twitter?? I be curious to see the comments…lol
This Dukic guy knows nothing about soccer. And yet you have him on again. Come on guys.
Just found this interesting article, of course people will deny it because it is written by Jutarnji List.
https://www.jutarnji.hr/naslovnica/luka-bonacic-hajduk-kontrolira-mafija-3971604
You shared an article from 16 years ago…….16 yrs ago…..Fucken idiot.
I want to give credibility to what you guys do, but then I listen to the podcast and these guys can’t even speak the name correctly and don’t understand croatian. And yes, not being able to understand the language does make you less valid. If you want to discuss a topic, why wouldn’t you bring on people who know more about the topic.
We should bring Davor on. He seems to be well informed by his response. =)
Easy pall, I did share an article from. 16yrs ago, and what if it. Does the article have any credence, you didn’t really demonstrate why not. Maybe it doesn’t maybe it does not. I shared it because it calls certain things into question, the fact that your getting your back up means that maybe these conversations have more truth than you might actually believe.
If the article is false, and are just the meanderings of angry coach, than provide a counter argument worth listening too. I provided the article so that people could respond, in THOUGHTFUL MANNER!!! And stop calling people an idiot a d swearing like a budala..all your doing is showing the bad side of what it means to be a Croat. It’s ridiculous, act like an adult and argue like one stop being a child.
I do speak the language actually, and whether or not I am affluent isn’t a reason to demonstrate how my reasoning, or someone else’s reasoning is false. It’s a half assed argument and an ad hominem attack. Look it up if you want. Or just scroll up.
Being fluent in the language actually does make a difference because for the most part 95% of what is on this portal is people reading or listening to the news from Croatia and then translating it in English. And most cant speak, read or write in Croatian.
I haven’t listened to this podcast just yet, but I think I will.
If you are getting a reaction, then GOOD. It’s important to be a disruptor when nobody is reporting on this.
The Cro media has always been too sympathetic to Hajduk and Torcida, and never really reporting on corruption unless it’s Mamic related. No questions about corruption and the many examples of poor decision-making by the Hajduk brass being ignored by the media. This is some tough love that some of these Hajduk fans have to hear.
I hope you keep being critical of them because it’s well deserved, especially if they decide to sell the 16 year-old Vuskovic for a couple million already.
Also, with all the rage on Twitter, it would be impossible for Cro media to ignore it. They will continue to write about it, and you will have a silent majority of Splicani reading about this and nodding their heads in agreement.
The good news is that there are higher expectation in Split. Mamic is no longer around, Dinamo has lost some strength, and there is a perception that Hajduk is turning a corner. Talks of Perisic coming back. Talk of Hajduk winning the HNL.
This is all good, but it can be a well deserved recipe for disaster if expectations are not met and will validate your criticism (especially if they continue to dump young talent for peanuts).
I’m not fully sold on the Hajduk turnaround just yet, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Perisic didn’t come back this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hajduk falls behind Dinamo and possibly Osijek as well.
This will be two decades of futility, despite all the positivity leading up to the season. Eventually, the media and fans will begin asking the right questions.
I think it’s terrible that people are giving you this kind of feedback man, I don’t know that things should ever reach that point. To point out I did listen to this entire podcast and the last one.
You guys were asking some great questions here. I also think this was a great podcast as well very informative for me. A lot of the information you guys were providing here was new to me.
A while ago I actually asked a similar question, actually around the time that Baturina ended up not going to Hajduk. I started to question the scouting, player sales, and decisions made at Hajduk and I think these questions should be asked for sure. Modric not being chosen by Hajduk was another bad decision on their part, and rejected by Hajduk. Vuskovic leaving at such a young age makes very little sense, Biuk again as well…all of which you mentioned. But if these sales are happening who is being put their place?? You guys kind of go over this in the example of Rebic which I would have never thought, but that could be a way for.him.to save his career if someone were to bring him to Hajduk possibly.
Maybe the only reason Mamic was able to be ousted was because he was open about it and acted on his own. Given that noone knows who these shadow like people are at Hajduk it may be very difficult for it to ever change.
Since I’m sitting in a campground surrounded by at least 9 Hajduk supporters and maybe 2 Dinamo supporters i Hester make this fast!
I’ve been tough on Zoric but today I feel he was very credible and honest about several things regarding HNS, Mamic and Hajduk. I appreciate your he candidness and in my books, I can let go of past shit when I see a person is open minded.
Overall, this was the best podcast yet! Kvartuc asking good questions and also offering great comments. Lebo is always a gem and Dukic is 2 for 2…intelligent guy with the right attitude to keep the topics informative, credible and a no bullshit attitude…really good job guys!
Past bullshit aside, honestly curious on your take regarding all the blow back on Twitter from people in the domovina regarding the pod and accompanying views. Is the heat CSR is getting deserved? Are the people back in Cro going too far in terms of feedback? Your born there, been in North America for a long time. What say you on this diaspora vs. domovina Twitter war?
Hope your well bro.
I’m using my phone so I’m not sure if you’re asking me…but if so, here’s my reply!
Those guys from Croatia usually have some different phrases and perspectives when analyzing a game but many are just your typical “casual” fan that wants to pretend he knows something and we know nothing. They use the “you live there vs we live here” so that makes them more knowledgeable in their mind…but it doesn’t.
In this case, they latched onto the Crosports comments on Twitter and have attempted to discredit the Twitter handle because the site belongs to an American. In most cases and on the topics discussed, the clowns from Croatia are pretty ignorant and it’s very obvious they know nothing and can’t even debate anything so they start to insult about “grammar, you’re a Dinamo and Mamic sympathizer …” they’re really just a bunch of non educated Hajduk supporters…Hajduk can never do wrong and are always the victims!
It’s like us watching hockey here in Canada but then someone from Germany might chime in…who’s to say that German person didn’t experience playing at an elite level in Sweden or some other hockey nation. They think geography means they know when in fact their comments speak for themselves…they’re all dumb and make even dumber comments!
I was asking you and appreciate the insight. Hope you’re having a good summer.
I’m currently roasting my ass off in the only desert in Canada…trying to stay cool 😎 with beers 🍺
You too Aramada!
Yo. Thanks Slavonac.
Armada, I haven’t checked Twitter, but I hear we may have started a small war. Like everything, people will forget about it in a couple of days, so I don’t care.
We tried to be objective as possible, but I realize that we are dealing with a mindset that can’t be changed. I saw it for the past 2 years with politics, masks, and all the other stuff.
I could literally take a video of me putting Mamic in jail, then sit down and have the same discussion, and we would have the same blowback.
A lot of the guys complaining are also younger. They don’t look at the past, they don’t look at the big picture, and they’re swallowed up by the religion of victimhood.
Dukic and Zoric were eloquent, they have links to stories and videos to back up everything they said. But logic, reason, and discussion haven’t been part of the global reality for 5 years.
Imagine this:
An employee of a business is told every year that he will receive a raise. Every year, that raise doesn’t come, but the boss is adamant that it will be different next year. The only reason the employee didn’t get the raise, is not because of what the boss did. No, no. In fact the real reason was due to outside forces: economy, government, competition, etc. In some cases, this may very well be true, and they may just be having a run of back luck. Now imagine if someone allowed that to happen for 19 years without questioning the boss’ reasoning.
Then imagine, even though the employee isn’t getting a raise, he sees his boss getting nicer cars and bigger houses every year. But you know what, “he’s the boss, and his hard work and leadership have earned that. While your request for improvements to the business aren’t met (like new employees, new tech, better furniture, etc) it doesn’t matter.
You know why?
The boss deserves it. Ya the employee realizes he does a lot of work and basically invests a large part of his life to helping this business grow, but who is he to question the boss. The boss has the employee’s best interests in mind, and it’s just a matter of time. If the employee just gives a little bit more, he’ll finally get that raise.
Every year, that employee thinks “this is going to be the year”. Yet. every year goes by, and nothing changes…. for 19 years.
If someone told you this story, what would your perception be of both people?
My perception:
There is no convincing this person because they have everything invested into it. The very idea of stepping back and admitting a fraction of fault would shatter ego so much that their purpose in life would come into question as they realize they’ve been sold a bag of goods for 19 years.
BBB went through it with Mamic. But the key difference is they fought like hell to make it known that he was a crook, and eventually they got what they wanted.
I appreciate your guys’ input and POV on the issues discussed. I just find the whole diaspora vs. domovina thing on some of these topics eye opening and all the associated chatter on Twitter.
Sure, most of us don’t live in ZG or ST and no, we aren’t at every HNL game, but many of us stay plugged into the league and what’s happening behind the scenes – but to see this backlash in terms of just because someone is on the other side of the Atlantic and what do they know, stupid diasporac.
I think about if the shoe was on the other foot and we had someone from Cro attempting to chat me up about some NBA or NFL team I follow … personally, I think it would be great if they expressed interest in one of our teams and even if they commented on something where they don’t have the same facts or knowledge I as a fan would have here in the US, I wouldn’t curse their mother and go off on them? I just don’t get that part…
Twitter today after your guys post is 😂😂😂
