If Euro 2024 started tomorrow, who would you start on the left wing? Perišić, Oršić, Ivanušec or Pjaca? Both Perišić and Oršić are coming off knee surgeries and may not be 100% for Germany. Pjaca has played the superior minutes with the most goal contributions in 2024; despite playing in a far less demanding Croatian HNL.
Do you take a 70% Perišić over a 100% Pjaca or Ivanušec? Who’s your starting left wing if Euro started tomorrow and why?
Where does all the Orsic love come from? Let’s be real here. He’s not making the team.
True, I grant, I don’t know what his physical condition, so it might be a mute point.
The real question is, where does the lack of love and unappreciation comes from, with our one slight weakness on the national team recently, being able to produce a plethora of goals at the offensive end. A gentleman who averaged 20 goals for 5 years at Dinamo may have been a partial solution, if we had ever given him half a chance. With the 1/8 of a chance, we gave him, he always produced or out produced the rest of the team.

A lot of confidence in Pjaca here.
I mean, I like it, but is this based off one game played against Egypt?
…or are people watching Rijeka games and can actually confirm that he’s playing at a level better than what Ivanusec was doing before his injury?
I want to be a believer, but Pjaca spent last year struggling to get off the bench at Empoli.
If Ivanusec is 100% healthy, then he has to start as he has performed well for both club and country.
Pjaca does give us some great size, speed and athleticism at that position, so I hope that he’s back to what he was doing back in 2016.
But I hope what he’s currently doing is more than him just doing well against kids in the HNL half his size.
Fine, but do we really need to decide yet, seems like there are too many questions. Can’t we have some friendly dates. No need to go steady yet.
They need to call up Orsic and let the four battle it out for now. Let the proof be in the puddling and see what we discover. Something is about to change to shake up the whole board away, it seems of late. Can’t plan to far ahead with porcelain plates at a picnic.
Orsic is ideal Croatian prime soccer age, minus the knee injury.
Ideally, would like 2018 version of Perisic, as my first choice.
I believe it is time to yell “Superman”.
One of the best skilled goals ever, from a left wing positioning on the field.

It’s not only Pjaca’s overall athleticism but his precision passes. He is a nightmare for the defense. If Perisic is ready to go then he should start. The second choice should be Pjaca. I say this as a big fan of Orsic who is one of our best players. If we need a goal Orsic should be on the pitch. He plays with that sense of urgency. Orsic is a far better choice than Vlasic or Mario Pasalic.
Does Dalic roll the dice and play Perisic at left back to make room for Pjaca and Orsic? I think Perisic can play anywhere other than the midfield.
Pjaca nor Ivanušec, are not the answer to the question, posed by Ante, …How do we score more goals?
HNK Rijeka is Winger U
Also coaching U
Perisic when playing for hajduk last few games has come in a LB position. Could Dalic make koka the Lb if he is not happy with sosa and Gvardiol should be a cb not lb for me at least.
Only if Ivan officially changes his name to Koka Perišić
The ability to score goals, either you have it or you don’t, and the only thing to do is to look at the results.
Ivanusec record to date of 5 goals a year average at Dinamo, is underwhelming, compared to Orsic, who averaged nearly 20 goals a year at Dinamo, at the same level of competition.
My fear, Pjaca looks great on the field, but he has never been a big goal scorer. What has he ever accomplished in the last 10 years. In about the same period , Orsic score 150 goals, while Pjaca scored 50. Marko scored 11 goals only outside the HNL his whole career.
Orsic or Pjaca
80% Orsic is faster than any of those other guys. If Orsic can’t go like we know he can go, it has to be Pjaca. Have to say that he is coming on at the right time, just don’t hold him back, don’t overcoach these guys who can go – Dalic, get out their way and let him do his thing. Ajmo Marko, samo leti!!!
I vote Marko Pjaca.
He was electric before Šuker and company sold him out on that away to Estonia pitch. Then he re-injures knee again.
His mental strength has increased along with his skill.
He looked surprisingly spry at Egypt.
I like him to start for ~60 minutes and then bring on Perišić for 30 minutes against a tired defense.
Perišić is a supreme athlete and true professional.
He may not have the stamina by June but he will be able to offer something.
Or ..
He shows he is ready and you start him and bring Pjaca in for him.
I just feel with sports medicine and his discipline he will be ready to contribute something?
Also the rest of his body-mind will be fresh.
The Jadran in Dalmacija is the fountain of youth.
IT’S REALLY A EASY ANSWER:
Who’s playing the best ** right now**
to give 🇭🇷 best chance to win right now.
Pjaca
Perisic is LEGEND.
But he’s out of form.
We need performers to excel at EU24.
Pjaca best in form to perform right now.
Perisic just isn’t
Another thing is mail pasalic on the other side potentially
I know it’s on the other side of the field
But that continuity of two guys on the same team chemistry I like to talk about can be a factor
I want to see pjaca in June for sure
Ivanusec is the only guy without a knee surgery which is crazy and sad
Perisic is going down as one of our best ever we all can agree but what does he really have right now?
He is smart and can be effective in other ways as stated below but is he more effective then fully fit pjaca or ivanusec ?
I Lean to pjaca against Spain as that was his coming out party and would be ironically sweet for a revenge party for him
To me he has shown incredible resilience to come back from all that misfortune
Humble himself from knowing he had potentially a world class career ahead go back to Croatia and carve out a good latter half of career
This makes a man dangerous imo
Like an orsic who did the whole Asian thing and took his chance whenever he could
At the end the whole England move was his demise
Hindsight should have stayed a hero in Dinamo and who knows where in Europe they may have made it
After all that rambling I have a good feeling for pjaca
Will Dalić do the old boys club and maybe force a not ready Perisic? Would Perisic say He is not able?
I guess we see in the prep matches
Pjaca vs Egypt 🇪🇬
Beast mode
Re-watch the highlights, he was flying
I agree watching pjaca really made me wonder what could have been with him without the knees. I’m happy for him to regain some career
Pjaca 100%
He’s a beast down the flank against Egypt 🇪🇬
🇭🇷 💪
As of right now…
Ivanusec is the starter, with Pjaca and Perisic as backups (and Orsic would not be called up).
As for LB, Gvardiol probably starts there right now.
However, in a month from now…
Orsic could be called up and become backup LW (if he can get more club games), Perisic could be our LB (allowing Gvardiol to play CB), and we could possibly see a tighter race between who starts at LW between any of Ivanusec, Pjaca or Perisic (Orsic has zero chance to win a starting spot at this point though…backup LW is the ceiling for him).
Yes I want Perisic at LB. Because if Gvardiol plays LB, then our CB pair could be Sutalo and Erlic but I’m a bit concerned about their current form, given how Ajax and Sassuolo are doing right now…
Easy. Ivanusec
very good question and a bit tricky to answer.
I have a hard time believing Perisic and/or Orsic will be anywhere near 100% within the next 50 days. the question will be how will either of them perform at 65%, 70% or 75%??
Perisic is such a disciplined man, he’s just as responsible defensively as he is creative and effective offensively. None of us know if his sprint is near normal or if he can jump, stop-go, change directions… the same questions need to be asked about Orsic.
in my opinion, we will and probably should count on some variation of Ivanusec on the left when we need someone that can play both ends of the field and Pjaca will be his interchangeable partner. Pjaca is very skilled, he can shoot from distance, he’s strong and he’s excellent at creating while Ivanusec is less talented but he’s a work horse…very reliable. both Perisic and Orsic would most likely be subs and we’d have to see how much they can offer. I’m curious to see if Dalic takes Orsic.
May I note, I was against starting Pletikosa in Brazilian world cup, because his he had slowed down.
Before the injuries I could see Perisic had slowed down, and had changed his style of play, but has shown he is still very affective. If I can assume, they are at their “new” full 100% now speed, fast, but not as fast:
I say, if we are behind, play both at the 46th minute mark: LF Orsic LB Perisic.
If we are ahead, play them @ the 60th minute. They have a history of putting it in the goal, and If it goes over time, we have two great penalty kickers, and they still have the energy to go the distance.
I don’t think it would be safe to start Perisic or Orsic right away.
I’d start Ivanusec cause he’s been more used to play with the rep lately, and replace him by Pjaca earlier than later in the 2nd half
It’s a good headache to have for Dalic I say
I 100% agree with this pecking order…1) Ivanusec, 2) Pjaca, 3) Perisic, 4) Orsic…Perisic or Orsic sub late in the game only if they are winning. We would need to see both Perisic and Orsic play in one of the June friendlies so we can judge them on their current form with the repka.
