I went into Thursday night’s match between Hajduk Split and Inter Milan with no credentials and no expectations: just a fan with a video camera. It was an awesome experience and I’m glad I did it this way. I had two friends from the States in Croatia for the first time and knew I had to take them to this epic encounter on Croatian soil once the tie was announced. What a way to pop their European football cherry…the atmosphere inside Poljud was ELECTRIC!
There’s little left to say that the below video can’t show you already. Hajduk lost 3-0 to a much superior Inter Milan team Thursday night in Europa League qualifying, but the real show was the atmosphere inside Poljud; which included Torcida. Packed to capacity, there was something special in the air on this warm and muggy summer night in Split as the 2010 UEFA Champions League winners came into town. Although Hajduk was outmatched by an Inter team still trying to find their stride going into the new season, the 35,000+ in attendance backed Hajduk like they were about to be crowned European champions.
Just imagine if they had won this game!
“It was tough to play here tonight. The atmosphere (at Poljud) was fantastic! It was more than football.”
-Inter captain, Javier Zanetti
The greatest single game I have ever attended
Hello people,
Here I am,
I had a lot of work!
P:S. Thak you Ante !!
POZDRAV SVIMA!
CROATIAN SPORTS 4EVER ♥
Sretan Dan pobjede i domovinske zahvalnosti! Neka nam zivi nasa Hrvatska.
Sude mi zato sto svoje volim, volim najvise, sto sam branio moje najdraze…jer je istina voda duboka
Marino = Good Ante B = Bad
I’m sorry to see Hajduk go down like that. I have to say, I love seeing the pictures of the fans with the flares in the stadium. If I, or anyone else for that matter did something like that here in the states, I would be a convicted fellon. Hrvatska…don’t ever change!
Anonymous je dobro. Ziva je najbolji. Ziva je za djecu.
@Ziva Istina
If you say so persona.
Thanks for proving my point.
@Ziva Istina
“Facts……Dinamo did win a Euro title. A third-tier tourney that no longer is alive, but they did win it.”
That would be like calling the Europa league Championship a third tier tournament.
Teams in the tourney – 1966-67
Juventus
Napoli
Valencia
Porto
Sevilla
FK Red Star
Athletic Bilbao
Stuttgart
It is not the Champions League but the Europa League is not the Champions League either.
@Ante B
“I don’t agree with you on the Kup Velesajmskih Gradova being third tier as this was a major competition in Europe during that time. Dinamo had to beat a Leeds Utd team with Jackie Charlton along with other successful European clubs. You can’t downplay that as it was the precursor for today’s competition”
Right on the money.
@Ziva Istina
“Now, for some of the idiocy being spouted here. To the idiot above discussing the national team in ZG and Split. So, our record has nothing to do with just being the better side? Your argument is so filled with holes. The players themselves preferred playing in ZG, not Maksimir, but in ZG. But, not for the reasons you think. Let me educate you on a few things. The players actually hated the stadium because it is a shit hole, but preferred to play in ZG because of logistical reasons and also because they were more worried about the fans and added pressure of playing in Split. See, the players think the fans in Split are better and the atmosphere is slightly better, but also more dangerous if the result doesn’t go their way, so they wanted to stay away from those budale.”
Self-proclamation.
I gave you facts and records and events that actually occurred. You spew forth convictives other than the point that Split is a more aesthetically pleasing stadium.
“Also….what Boban did had nothing to do with the war. Do you need a history book because I can sure send you one so you can study up on our history. What Boban did was symbolic and for you to claim that was the start of the war is in insult to every person who lost their life during the war.”
No need for the history book as you can keep it and read it yourself. My cousins fought in that war and to tell them that the event that transpired in Maksimir Stadium on May 13 1990 had nothing to do with the events that were to come would be asinine. To say it had absolutely 0% to do with what was to come would be incorrect and to say that it was not a moment in time that did not capture the hearts and souls of Croatians would be incorrect as well. Yes it was symbolic but it was also a life altering moment for our country and massive on the historic scale. There was no turning back after those events. It did not start the war and nor would I say or even think that but it pushed it forward. You can brush it off and down play it all you wish but it was not a Forrest Gump type situation or moment.
@Ante B
“nesto je bilo u zraku…obrana domovine…”
Had quite a few relatives at the game. Fantastic link!
“I agree with your assessment of the national team’s play in Zagreb/Split; this has nothing to do with Dinamo being the better club.”
I never said it made Dinamo a better club, but it does add to the mystique of Dinamo since it is their home stadium and it is noteworthy. Not that I disagree with you, I just wanted to explain my thoughts.
@Ziva Istina
“To the idiot above discussing the national team in ZG and Split.”
Thank you.
@ Ante B you forgot #104
104. Zato ca je Renato navijac ajduka lol
@Ante…..fair enough..I didn’t mean to downplay the Boban kick, I just view it as one of those things that took place at the right moment at the right time. No disrespect intended. I think with or without Boban’s actions we (we meaning hrvati to some of you 1991 generation kids) were on our way to war and independence.
@Jarac……yes I realize they are opinions, but please be informed. My 90-year old uncle can have an opinion that he is going to live another 15 years; doesn’t mean it will happen.
AS for that list…….geez.
Marino,
That 100 list is so stupid it’s like masturbating with sand paper. 10 of them are about Bajdo Vukas, a Purger who played for HASK. I’m surprised one of those reasons is because of the weather in Split.
101. Aj’ brale volin ‘ajduk jer je toplo vani
102. zato ca san pojea blitvu jutros a ne za veceru
103. zato ca je Sliskovic reka “danas je moj sritan dan”
Fucking. Ridiculous.
Ziva,
Allow me to retort, respectfully as there’s no reason to insult you. We reached an impasse on only item item, wait for it.
I agree with your assessment of the national team’s play in Zagreb/Split; this has nothing to do with Dinamo being the better club. I also agree with your stance against the “Hajduk idiots.”
I don’t agree with you on the Kup Velesajmskih Gradova being third tier as this was a major competition in Europe during that time. Dinamo had to beat a Leeds Utd team with Jackie Charlton along with other successful European clubs. You can’t downplay that as it was the precursor for today’s competition.
The big thing I disagree with you about is downplaying Boban’s kick. To some it was the start of the war, to others it wasn’t but to those who were at Maksimir that day, “nesto je bilo u zraku…obrana domovine…” are some things that come to mind. Don’t believe me? Here’s a clip of Croatian actor Igor Hamer who was there that day and who fought in the war until it’s end…I know it’s only one person’s opinion but I would take his word for it…here’s the link, check out http://www.braniteljski-portal.hr/sadrzaj/drustvo/4680. Go the the link at the bottom and watch the entire video but pay sepcial attention to 6:45 onward while they talk about that game.
Odjebi ziva i ante b. U guys are acting like a bunch of pussies. Dinamo does suck, so does the BBB. Suck it. Ziva these are opinions there not based on facts or statistics. You do know statistics lie right? Ante make sure to re-adjust ur tampon.
ahhhh, where to begin. Some of you guys just shape your arguments with disregard for the facts and base everything on what side of the aisle you sit.
I wrote this last year but it deserves to be repeated. Arguing over Hajduk and Dinamo is the equivalent of debating who is the better minor league baseball club. “Eh pobro, my El Paso team is better.” Not true sinko, my Lubbock team is better.”
Utter nonsense….you know what, neither team is worth a damn in Europe.
Facts……Dinamo did win a Euro title. A third-tier tourney that no longer is alive, but they did win it.
Hajduk was the more successful side in the Yugo years. Won more titles and produced better players.
Dinamo is the more successful side in the Cro league. Won more titles and produced better players.
Now, for some of the idiocy being spouted here. See, the players think the fans in Split are better and the atmosphere is slightly better, but also more dangerous if the result doesn’t go their way, so they wanted to stay away from those budale.
Also….what Boban did had nothing to do with the war. Do you need a history book because I can sure send you one so you can study up on our history. What Boban did was symbolic and for you to claim that was the start of the war is in insult to every person who lost their life during the war.
Now to the Hajduk idiots……stop with the virtual blow jobs over the crowd’s performance on Thursday. What we saw was nothing new. Our fans are great, but can be idiots as well. What, did some of you guys forget that it was only a few years when Hajduk’s own fans broke into Poljud and dug graves on the field to symbolize their displeasure with hajduk’s play. What great fans, huh?????
Either way, keep up with the nonsense some of you write because it really is entertainment for me.
ljudi moji, to vam je ziva istina.
Ante B is right on the money.
Dinamo went on to become the first ever Yugoslavian team that won a European competition.
Also, consider our national teams record at Maksimir stadium versus our national teams record at Poljud. Some of you will say this does not matter because it is a Dinamo versus Hajduk thing that we are discussing. It is valid because it ties in to the mystique of what is Dinamo Zagreb. There is magic in that stadium and that team. Hajduk fans will say that it is politically motivated. If it is politically motivated it means nothing because our national team record at Maksimir Stadium is still a fantastic accomplishment regardless and it speaks for itself.
Croatian National Team – Home records
Venue City Played Won Drawn Lost
Maksimir Zagreb 49 32 14 3
Poljud Split 10 1 6 3
Some of the reasons given for Hajduk being better are based on self-proclamation.
Hajduk has better fans
Hajduk has a better tradition
Poljud is a more exciting place to watch a game (Really? I have been to both venues and I would not say that) – If it is more exciting, it is not a cut and dry decision.
Dinamo has the more trophies. Talk to a Yankee fan and they will tell you the same thing. Not that I am a Yankee fan but they are allowed to voice that sentiment of calling their team the best because they are the best, they won the most World Series trophies. End of story.
You can wash this all down with the greatest spiritual event that ever took place. The Dinamo Zagreb–Red Star Belgrade riot and the actions of Zvonimir Boban top the list of most important events to transpire.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnrLuAzUPMs
What Boban did to the cop/Refik Ahmetović on May 13, 1990 transcends both time and space. It is beyond measurement and comprehension and it was done with Boban wearing his Dinamo jersey at Maksimir stadium. The riot and Boban’s actions are what started the Croatian War of Independence. If you want to talk about tradition and symbolism than you can go no further or better than this. It helped start the ripple effect of freeing our country from years of repression and wrongfulness. That is the greatest trophy of all!
I have the greatest admiration and respect for both clubs but the better team is Dinamo.
Puffy je dobra, ali Wu-Tang je bolje. Wu-Tang je za djecu.

Ante your weazel face had no place in Poljud. Hajduk is the most successful Croatian team. Dinamo might have more trophies in the HNL, but Hajduk was more successful in Yugoslavia days where it was 100 times harder to win the league than it is today. Dinamo’s HNL wins should not even be acknowledged the past 10 years because they are the result of corruption, robbery, and the product that has severely damaged the HNL and its lack of competition. Hajduk is bigger than. Hajduk is not just soccer, it is a way of life. Hajduk has better fans, better tradition, oldest fans in Europe, and the most loyal travelling supporters. Hajduk is BIGGER than Dinamo. Dinamo cant fill up a stadium for 1 kuna a ticket, but hajduk fills it up for 300 kuna. Hajduk is Split, and Split is Hajduk. I could care less for Dinamo and how they play, i do not hate them because they do not interest me. SAMO HAJDUK. Pass through the city of Split on any day and you will see that the city lives for Hajduk. Same cannot be said for Zagreb. Dinamo would never be able to put that atmosphere like Hajduk did thursday. I only live and breathe for Hajduk. Without even a debate they have the best fans in the world. Which other fans would put up with a team like this and still fill up the stadium with 25,000 people against Skonto? NOBODY.
HAJDUK ZIVI VJECNO BOG I NIKOG VISE!
@ Ante K and Kristina – Me, Ponce, and Willy Will at the crib-o
Shout goes out to Kristina B and Ruzi Ruz, shouts to Drago
Dukicu,
One European trophy trumps them all. You’d know if you had one. Zvezda sadly is the most successful because they had league titles and a European trophy.
Dinamo has the better series record to. Dinamo still has a leg up.
Bitno,
Kristina te pozdravlja iz Pirovca.

I’m pretty sure you called me an idiot 3 times prior to me posting to that. Your memory is very short my friend.
Sera ti se na glavu
Reporting from Pirovac, Croatia. I had an interesting conversation with my cousin and his friends today on a bus ride from Split to Zadar. They are all in Torcida and I asked them if the rivalry between them and BBB was silly. They all chuckled and said, ” If it wasn’t for the rivalry, what else would we do in Croatia throughout the year?”
It’s not a true hatred, they’re just bored without it.
Still a great rivalry…I enjoy watching you guys go at it. Because in the end, Dinamo is the better team and Hajduk has the better fans.
End of it.
Ante B , very bitter man . Just because u are the capital of Croatia is why your team is a little better in past few years, because of money . Hajduks just has more class , and the best fans in the World . Stop being so mad .
I’ll take that as the biggest compliment because now you’re just going straight to name calling which is the universal sign for predajem se. ….finish him….Ante B….fatality.
Ante, you’re a bigger kreten than Mamic and Kerum put together. I’m surprised your college hasn’t taken back your degree.
Oh DAMN fisto are you talking shit?
Hahahaha and still no answer!!! I have to then accept Renato’s answer. Some people are young, stupid and hate Dinamo more than they love Hajduk. That’s tragic. Stats and trophy wise, Dinamo is the better club.
The funny thing is that you called Renasty the voice of reason. And you’re saying I’m high?
And no, I have no hate for Dinamo. In order for me to hate, I’d have to care. I don’t give 2 shits about your club. Ja volim moj Hajduk i to je to.
hahaha some funny stuff from Fisto and Ante B…
You obviously can’t answer objectively because I have to ask the same question 50 times. I then asked Dukic to elaborate and was fed sensationalist bullshit which means there’s no answer but blind faith. Im too old and have gone to way too many games for that shit. Since you can’t answer it like a normal person, that’s fine. Some people just hate Dinamo more than they love Hajduk
Bog, Hrvati, i Hajduk !!! That’s it !!! Enough said . !
Dukic nor I were bashing Dinamo until you brought in your 2 cents. All he said was we’re the best and then you got butthurt. Put a little more lube and perhaps it won’t hurt as much.
Fisto you’re not reading the convo and it shows. For the 100tj celebration you had three days and I asked the same question.
Why do hajdukovci bash Dinamo and Zagreb every opportunity when they have nothing to do with it? For the record it was Ziva who asked first. Does that make him jealous?
You’re not answering it because you don’t want to or you’re just being a fucking retard.
Dukic didn’t mention anything about Dinamo or BBB until you chimed in. This is a Hajduk post. We post our pride for our club and Torcida just like you do with yours. If we can’t call ourselves the best, why do we watch the games??? you’re immaturity on this subject is beyond me and it stems all the way back to the 100 year anniversary where you couldn’t give us a weekend for the BIGGEST celebration in CROATIA history throughout Dalmacija.
Ziva, dosadan si kao proljev.
Nije Bitno “became the voice of reason” haha. Good shit. I agree with your statement as well.
At the same time, a little shit talking and Dinamo/Hajduk bashing is ok. Thats what rivalry is all about. I still feel that dinamo fans are much more sensitive than Hajduk fans when it comes to shit talking.
Fisto you must be high or stupid. Look at the first comment then talk about jealousy. In fact look at the others. You’re being an idiot
This was never a Hajduk vs Dinamo debate until Ante decided to chime in. We had an outstanding atmosphere yesterday and we congratulate our Torcida for thei incredible energy and we call them the best, We can never get one day from Ante B to let our pride soak in., From the 100 year anniversary to this, the jealousy that comes from Ante B is absolutely ridiculrous.This is a Hajduk post, go take your Dinamo shit a Dinamo post
@Denis, Ante and nije bitno…………well said, by all of you.
Bevanda is obicna voda i vino. Gemišt is vino with gazirana voda.
And dont you mean bevanda for you, gemist/skropec for me 🙂 zivio stari
And with that nije bitno has shut me up. Potpisujem. And I agree. You did become the voice of reason.
They are young Ante. I used to bash Dinamo whenever i got a chance to back in the day but i grew up and realized some things. It’s like what you said a while back, these people hate dinamo more than they love hajduk and the other way around. Look you a big Dinamovac can chill and party with me a big Hajdukovac without any issues. Yeah you would sing your Dinamo songs to me then I would sing my Hajduk songs to you (like we have done in the past) and it’s was all good. I let you drink your “špricer” as long as you let me drink my “gemišt”. Just a little respect goes a long way.
And since nobody chooses not to answer, let me restate my original question:
Why the fuck would you bring up the BBB, Zagreb and Dinamo at a Hajduk Inter game??!
The only people who started the bashing were these idiot hajdukovci. In terms of stats, Dinamo is hands down better than Hajduk. Tell me I’m wrong. Prove it. Let me guess, no time?
@nije Bitno,
I agree. Without rivalries, sports would suck.
This is a stupid and useless debate. “Hajduk is better than Dinamo vs. Dinamo is better than Hajduk.”
People are quick to bash on the other team after achieving a result/trophy(in this case Dinamo) or when something like last night happens in the stands(Hajduk-Torcida).
This reminds me of the “Veliki Hrvat” debate. I’m a hrvat, on the same line as every other hrvat. I’m a hajduk fan and don’t need to bash Dinamo to get off. I got off by watching and listening to our fans in the stands. Which team is better? Its like saying which city is better, Split or Zagreb?
I love it! Without these rivalries world wide, soccer wouldn’t be anything nor any sport for that matter.
You never had shit?!? Ummm did you take your stupid pills? Hajduk was Tito’s team!
I didn’t say it was just trophies. I said lets start at trophies.
Dinamo has more HNL trophies.
Dinamo owns the head to head match up against Hajduk.
Dinamo has a European trophy.
Dinamo has 70 trophies and so does Hajduk without the Eiuropean trophy. So tell me, how is Hajduk better?
dinamo su tovari i seljaci. i mamic je prasac naj veci. HAJDUK uvijek.
and before that you guys had franjo. we never had shit.
i just said soccer isnt all about trophies. did you watch the game yesterday? 20 to 22 year olds were working their asses off for that holy shirt. fuck modern football. only reason dinamo is good now is cause mamic owns the country. you guys want him to leave but without him your shit. same situation as hajduk would be.
It’s not Italian that’s for sure
You’re last sentence proves Hajduk is better then Dinamo. Were you speaking Romanian or gibberish?
@Ante B,
I agree. No point bringing up Dinamo and which team is better.
Back it up with facts. You haven’t given me one fact just sensationalism. Ajde, challenge issued. Even Ziva Istina, a hajdukovac, one of your own, is calling you guys out. You’re telling me hajduk is better because it’s a lifestyle? Si ponorel il kaj
footy is more then trophies ante. dinamo or anybody else in croatia can win the league 100 years in a row and hajduk will still be a bigger club. zanetti said it the best. its more then football. hajduk is a lifestyle. i can admit dinamo is better then us now footballing wise and will be for a while but hajduk will still be biggest club in croatia.
Stop being a fucking idiot. It’s not jealousy, it’s confusion. Why would you bring up Dinamo and the BBB at a Hajduk Inter game if it’s not an inferiority complex. Give me concrete examples of why Hajduk is better than Dinamo. Start with European trophies. Go
@Ante
Correction- Hajduk was in the quarter finals of Champions League in 1995. Also the q/f of european cup in 76 and 80.
Despite Dinamos resources the best they have done is the group stages in 1999,2000 and 2012.
dinamovci se cini malo ljubomorni!!!
KOMPLEKS
lol Dinamo vs. Hajduk sort of reminds me of Yankees (which I’m a fan of) vs. Mets/Giants vs. Jets (which I’m a fan of):
Usually Giants/Yankees fans don’t give a shit about Jets/Mets, since Giants/Yankees are traditionally the better teams here in NYC. But god forbid Mets/Jets make noise and the fan base gets excited, Yankees/Giants fans are right there to smother any excitement and to tell Mets/Jets fans to STFU
same crap with Dinamo/Hajduk lol being an outside party here, I think we should all let Hajduk have there ‘fun in the sun’ for these Inter games. No matter the atmosphere, Hajduk weren’t winning this tie, so might as well let them enjoy it. Dinamo already has the HNL titled locked up, so Hajduk can worry solely about winning a spot in the top 3 for the HNL…
Hajduk is the best.
yesterday is a step in the right direction. Most of these kids who played yesterday are from hajduk’s system. They may not amount to much, but at least they are using their own kids and not brining in players who were not that much better than what they had.
As a lifelong follower of Hajduk it pains me to see how far we have fallen despite our fan base. Truly amazing!
Still, while that sort of thing is possible, there is hope.
Ante Kvartuc , beautiful film from Split . Like Denis said , it made me feel like i was at the game . Great job CSR . Hajduk still # 1 for me .
Why does this always turn into a dinamo vs hajduk debate. Its so damn idiotic.
Yeah, the hajduk fans were great last night….again. That is nothing new. So, why the need to go at dinamo. This has nothing to do with dinamo. Do I think the atmosphere at hajduk games are better than dinamo games. I do, I think I’ the most fair and unbiased person on this site, but I also say that as a lifelong hajduk fan. Dinamo has their own issues to worry about with an unpopular club president and that is a reason why the fan support for dinamo lacks. Now, hajduk has also had poor management over these, but still supported the club. So maybe there is the difference that can put hajduk fans on top (a silly argument anyway).
I just dont understand why some hajduk fans have to go and show who has a bigger dick. Enjoy what took place at Poljus yesterday with the great atmosphere, but also remember that hajduk is unable to compete against the big boys.
Ante = Pizda
@Ante Kvartuc,
Well done sir. As if I was there.
@Valentina,
ma sigurno si uzivala tamo s Kvartucem i ekipom. Drago mi je da smo te vidili malo na video i da ste lipo zapivali. Veliki pozdrav iz San Pedra!
@Ante,
I sense a little bit of jealousy. “samo se za dobrim konjem prasi.”
You sound like alija izabegovic and mars. As long as you dont call us hajduksoccerreport.com, I will be ok with you. Seriously though, no place for Dinamo Zagreb on this post. They play next week.
did u hajduk fans bring the balloons this time aswell, bunch of pansie poofs. just a reminder that u are the bitches for dinamo, i need to remind you of the last time hajduk got into the champions league ….never . dinamo have won the last 7 hnl titles . hajduk is ranked 162 in europe , dinamo 78…do u want me to keep goin, oh yea hajduk had the biggest red star on their jerse up until 1990 when they toured melbourne and got bashed because of it. U will never win the league EVER whilst the true champions dinamo are ther… so shut the fuk up, play with ur ballons, be happy losing 3-0.
Hajduk , & the fans are # 1 in Croatia
Control your chubbies boys.
Too bad the fans aren’t making your team any better! 🙂
