NEW YORK CROATIANS REPRESENTING
“I had the pleasure of attending the Red Bull vs. Tottenham game last night and thought it would be cool to share a few photos and videos with you guys. The game itself was awesome. Funny how Thierry Henry scored in the first 25 minutes of his Red Bull career. There weren’t as many Hrvati as I thought there would be. It’s probably because a lot of people went to Croatia for the summer already. However, the ones that were in attendance made themselves known as you can tell from the videos. All in all it was all very friendly.”

@KING BRONK
thanks for the kind words.

"better get to the US Open for the early rounds because our boys wont be around past the first few rounds."
I agree. This is what I was telling Ante and Dennis, however, they couldn't get time off of work to cover the qualifiers, so we decided to book for Sept 2nd.
Will you be in NY during that time? Would love to talk "croatian matchfixing" with you over a couple of beers. Shoot me an email: paluka81@yahoo.com
@Alex
"Yeah, you fellas are going to love NYC hotel prices. "Budget" =$150 for one single bed in a closet sized room with a shared bathroom down the hall…."
yes, NY sucks when it comes to hotels…. Maybe we'll just pull up a tent on center court in flushing meadows.
@ Jordan,
No problem. Just want to put it out there. We still have to go out and have a drink. You old enough?
@ Alex,
Thanks for the reminder… joj meni.
Yeah, you fellas are going to love NYC hotel prices. "Budget" =$150 for one single bed in a closet sized room with a shared bathroom down the hall….
@ Ante
Would have you guys over in a heartbeat, if I had my own place. Plus the space I have is limited :-/ sorry brotha.
Where were the flares?
@ Jordan and Kreso,
Any of you have room for the 3 CSR Croatians from Southern California to crash while we're in NY?
We're obviously going to be out and about in the city every day but it'd be nice to hang out for a few hours over drinks. Let me know.

Isn't the east coast soccer tourney the same weekend. You boys might have a better time attending that event.
I was there but I didn't wear my checkers, I wore my CSR Crottenham shirt instead! It was great being < 5 meters away from Niko and Luka repeatedly (Vedran was never that near me)
Everyone already assumes that match fixing goes on in Serie A(true or not), which is (partly) why it has gone from the best league in Europe to the 4th strongest within 10 years. On the other hand, don't pay too much attention to what Francesco Totti says- he's supposedly a sort of idiot-savant who can barely spell his own name.

@ Ante
Will be at Scorpio's and more than likely be at the U.S. Open as well, since it's 5 min away from my house. Looking forward to seein you folks from San Pedro up in the Big Apple.
Some here on this chat forum have commented about my constant talk about match fixing . The reason I harp on this issue and bring it to light is because this is the very integrity of the game that is being undermined. If we here can expose it and as fans create pressure, the governing bodies like FIFA and UEFA will take measures to fix the problem. (No pun intended!:)Personally I think Croatia is one of those countries who is on this list of countries that can be compromised, which I do not wish to see. When we watch the Vatreni and HNL we want to be sure that when our team plays, win or lose it is done legitimately! I am optimistic the sport can be cleaned up. UEFA under Platini is clearly trying to address the issue by educating the youth against sports corruption. http://www.uefa.com/uefa/management/legal/news/newsid=1506688.html
FIFA's response on the other hand has been very disappointing but I think public pressure will eventually lead to the introduction to technology to help referees! Which I think is change in the right direction!

Right above are some recent articles in which Totti suggests that match fixing is still going on in Serie A. He goes on to further suggest the reason technology is not brought in to Soccer is that it will prevent match fixing from taking place which the powers to be clearly wish to keep. If you recall Jose Mourinho during the last season made the handcuffs gesture that got him suspended claiming the refs were conspiring against Inter and now Totti has blown the whistle too. I find it interesting that in both cases the people who blow the whistle on this stuff are fined and suspended while the perpetrators are allowed to go free. The thing that makes me scratch my head is why aren't their claims being investigated?
Just a thought!
On another less serious note the 5-0 win over Portugal was fantastic! Our under 17 under 19 and our under 21 teams are all doing very well! This bolds well for the future of Croatian soccer!
Dudu made the right move to get out of Arsenal. This is great news for our national team.
Finally, I am really impressed with the recent work of the CSR staff! Great coverage and great interviews. Good work Decki!
Excellent video gents!
The Hajduk songs…..not so excellent.
Did you guys throw up any banners??
The main problem we had was with the organization. All of the Croatians were spread around the place instead of in one location so while we were loud at some points, it wasn't constantly loud.
We know for next time!

I guess we'll have to throw Ozobic on "Croatians around Europe" if he's getting first team minutes at Spartak!
Anybody gonna go to Colombia for the WC?

D) All of the above.
Please answer in the form of a question.
@Kresimir,
Thanks for the videos and report. Reminded me of EURO 2008 on a minor scale. Also, major props to all of you for showing up and bringing your A game, showing the red white and blue. Looking forward to meeting up with you guys in early September.
