Is this a Faroe Islands appreciation post? Absolutely.
These guys punched well above their weight in 2025 during their best qualifying in history! Eight matches: 4 wins and 4 losses.
But hear me out, Faroe Islands only has a population of only 56,000 people.
Yet, they were able to beat Montenegro and Czechia in the same week. They gave Croatia trouble in Torshavn during the first 30 minutes; almost scoring twice. Livaković managed two fantastic saves. Montenegro needed a 96′ goal to beat Faroe Islands on home soil while Czechia required an 85′ winner to top them at home. They played so well they were basically one good result from a World Cup playoff berth. I mean, they almost took points off of Croatia on two occasions.
I’ve come a fan of the Faroe Islands this year. They gave us more trouble than abode else in our group. And I respect the hell out of them for it.
What if it’s just a case of our group being really bad?
What if Czech get demolished 5-0 in this playoff round match?
Maybe we still haven’t overcome our poor play from Euro2024 and UNL, and this easy group has enabled us to think we’ve improved since then, but maybe we actually haven’t?

Firstly, this is an article on Faroe Islands, so for all you nose pickers Anonymouse will bring us back on point.
Anonymouse agrees with the respect factor for Faroe Islands, regarding their population.
Anonymouse disagrees about the trouble they caused us. This was due to playing players out of position, bad formations, and not playing young hungry players such as Marco.
As you can see when Dalic used proper tactics and not bunkering before having a lead, simple football tactics 101, we dismantled the FI with ease.
