Stipe Miocic answered his critics Saturday night in Las Vegas at UFC 195. In 54 seconds, the Cleveland-born Croatian-American took down former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski with ease. But more importantly, seconds after the win, you can see Miocic hollering at UFC president Dana White.
It was heard around the UFC water cooler that Miocic was not in line to receive a heavyweight title shot because he lacked personality and was not a big ticket sale. Well, Miocic definitely gets some personality points for the mini rant. But will White finally give Miocic his shot?
Tonight, Stipe Miocic will have the biggest fight of his career when he faces off against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC 195 in Las Vegas. The Pitbull is in his second stint with the UFC and is on a 6 fight win streak coming into this fight. Miocic is coming off an absolute annihilation of former K1 stand-out Mark Hunt. The fight awarded Miocic the beatdown of the year award as it was one of the most one sided fights in UFC history. The winner almost guarantees himself the next shot at the winner of the Werdum vs Velazsquez fight in February. Arlovski and Miocic are both known for their great boxing skills and KO power. The power advantage has to go to Arlovski but that is where his advantages end. Cardio,wrestling,chin and technical boxing skill have to go to Miocic. This fight can go either way and is a very intriguing match up. Look at the Countdown to UFC 195 Miocic vs Arlovski below to make your prediction;
Tune into UFC 195 on PPV to support Cleveland born Croatian Heavyweight Stipe Miocic in the Co-Main Event of the evening, as he faces the toughest and most important fight of his career versus Andrei Arlovski.

Actually dumbass I can answer yes to all of those.
Your silence is amusing. So you make shit income and went to some joke of a college. Carry on with your dumbass comments.

Pita je policajac:
-Kako znate da je bio Crnogorac?
-Pa sve sam morala da radim sama!
Actually 0k a year bro, but I attend the best uni in the country and spend 4 months a year in Croatia
When’s the last time you’ve been to Croatia, oh probably never
Do you speak Croatian, highly doubt it
Do you know what Idemo means…….probably not
Ever banged a Croatian girl…….0/4
I’ve come to this conclusion all from you making a onetime moniker to post under to try to be funny hahaaaaa
how much do you make a year 20k lol
@bob………yep. When you are “special”, in whatever line of work, you can get away with certain behaviors and actions. A 30-year old journeyman could not get away with what Coric and his people did, but a teenager who some say in the next big thing can get away with that type of behavior. Why?????? He is “special”.
Zasto crnogorci dolaze u Srbiju?
– Zato sto su culi da tamo nema posla
if you have the best and brightest coming thru a revolving door, then it means they are pretty replaceable…this only reinforces the ziva’s point….someone replaceable with someone else knocking on the door cannot behave like this…someone unique and irreplaceable can get away with it just about anywhere
people who make more than 40k a year don’t get on forums making fun of how much others make
money must be new to ya boy
I get the feeling Ziva makes 40K a year and lives with his parents. Good for you Ziva. In the real world, real corporate world, Coric actions would not be tolerated. My company would throw his ass out. They have the brightest and most talented but it is a revolving door, always someone new can be knocking at the door.
In life one has to decide how to fight a battle and he went about it the wrong way. he is young, he will learn his mistakes.
I find it disturbing he would have a tantrum on social media. the guy was quite dramatic and came across as if the world was coming to an end.
in the future, I’d prefer he take his personal frustrations about the club, with the club and not on Facebook
Not true…….Depends on who he is in the corporate world. If you have a special skill set and you know you have a special skill set and competitors in your specific industry are looking to grab you, then you would do the same to gain a better salary, better benefits, better perks. Now, if you are an average employee in the corporate world who can be easily replaces, then yes, you can’t pull that off. But, Coric would be the equivalent of a new Ivy league graduate who started at Google and already has other companies (Facebook, Tesla, Samsung, Apple) looking to poach him away.
There is nothing wrong with Coric’s actions. He will be at Dinamo for the short term.
Seems some people are sensitive on this site for me calling out Coric.
I can tell you if he did that in the corporate world where I am employed he would be out on the streets.
@ dannyj Halilovic is more advanced than Modric at 19 and Rakitic he is playing in the Spanish Primera Division. I Think Rakitic was at Basel at 19 Swiss Pro League. Modric was at Zrinjski Mostar at that age playing in BiH Liga. Luka Modric was Bosnian and Herzegovinian League Player of the Year while still only 18 years old. So that gives you the answer of who was more advanced.
hopefully kramaric gets moved somewhere and starts playing again… sad… i would hate to be a young guy with talent and never get to play, money aside. you know these guys want to play
from what i read a bit on the barcelona forums… some of these guys are putting halilovic up instead of some of their other young guys… but i think its the right thing he is playing a lot at gijon and he is improving regularly. he is just a little kid… his time will come
was modric and rakitic as advanced at 19 as halilovic is?
same will happen to him like Kramaric, all talk and he will be riding the bench at his new team
his dealings/ attitude will not be in his favorite long term
Ahh @Armada you’ve fallen for my sarcasm, there’s no way he starts at barca next year, absolutely 0 chance
I’m in Beverly, Massachusetts.
@Hvar……Why an ungrateful prick? The kid (or his parents and agent) wanted more playing time and/or a bigger pay day. The kid and his representatives are looking out for themselves. I don’t find anything wrong with that. I’m sure you try to gain advantageous working conditions for yourself, no?
He’s referring to Halilovic. He’s on loan at Gijon.
Coric is an ungrateful little prick. That is all.
2 Croatians at barca………where……? What positions……
Transfer embargo is lifted my friend they are gonna shop heavy
@ Boston Croat
where are you in Boston? have yet to meet a hrvat in New England. i’m in RI.
My guess is they are giving him a piece of his transfer fee when eventually sold, so this will keep him quite. One way to keep the peace is to give more money, usually works.
So now Coric loves Dinamo again?
Let’s just hope Brozovic lays off the bottle a bit or has a driver.
Modric was excellent against Valencia. Incredible how hits those passes with the outside of his foot with just the right touch.
Kovacic made a couple of impressive runs at goal, one where he burst through the defense only to over touch the ball on his last dribble just before he was to shoot. Showed awesome speed.
Next year, we might see two Croatians starting for both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Safe to say, it will be a once in a lifetime occurrence – enjoy it while you can.
Again, no country on Earth (except Spain itself) can say they have 4 midfielders under contract with the two best clubs in the World.
With Perisic and Brozovic, it would be a shame for Croatia to leave anyone of these 6 on the bench to play with two strikers.
miocic is the man… i always knew he had the goods… he is not a douche bag show off. he simply takes care of business… hats off to him
interesting tidbit of info i found on looking for halilovic news from the sporting game… i don’t know who this is but must be some pundit. man if he doesn’t play at euros it will suck… sure he is not a seasoned veteran but the kid can make excitement happen and i’m pretty sure we can all agree we need some excitement and youth in our ranks.
Sanabria was on hand to head home the first of them after a Jony cross, his sixth La Liga goal of the season. But as Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez noted, it was Barcelona’s on-loan midfielder Alen Halilovic who was pulling the strings for Sporting:
Halilovic is so, so good. Always knew he’s quite the talent and the real deal but a much bigger player in my eyes now. Big future at Barça.
— Sergi Domínguez (@FutbolSergi) January 4, 2016
Dana White tells Colin Cowherd the story of how the mob forced him out of Boston and how he ended up buying the UFC for two million dollars. If not for legendary Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, the UFC as we know it today may not exist.Sep 10, 2015
I will only in Paris for 7 days so all i can see is the Turkey game when it comes to Cro….I’m in Ohio…..not Cleveland….thankfully
I thinkUEFA was going to set up a ticket exchange, if i don’t
get selected you should sell me yours if you do
If I get selected I’ll be selling all 3 games
I applied for follow my team tickets but I think its only category 3
You in the GTA?
Your selling your turkey ticket right?
I’m torn on cat 1 or 3
Applied for category 3, went to euro 2012 and got the same category and believe me although it’s not the best view ( behind the net ) it’s where the party is at, it being the Croatian side of course
kovacic deff not gonna start again barring injury, but not because of the red card. Rafa had a hard on for him from his time at Napoli
I hope Zizou has the balls and sense to drop James and start Isco
CR7 Isco Bale
I’ll take that on the right wing all day long.
Kovacic and Modric were starting together at times, which (even though it may have been experimentation at Real) could only be good for the Cro NT.
Oh well. Hopefully, the next coach has a hard on for Kovacic like Benitez did. If they go Spanish with the next coach, then they probably will.
Rafa out at Real Madrid…….gee, nobody saw that coming. Wrong fit for that club from day one, but at least give him the entire season. Kovacic sure didn’t help him out over the weekend with his silly red card. Zidane in now. Wonder what that means for Kovacic regarding playing time for the rest of the year.
Stipe made 120,000 disclosed pay. Yes they can have sponsors outside the UFC just can’t have it on during fight week or during fights
Can’t they have sponsorship outside the ring and MMA fights? For example, if a local car dealership did a tv commercial with a local fighter
So what do these guys do when they are done fighting? Tough to start a new career in your early and mid-30s.
They don’t have sponsors. UFC signed a deal with reebok meaning no other sponsors allowed. There might be a loophole here and there but they are actually payed less now. Reebok pays the fighters directly based off of their ranking, and they have uniforms (it’s why you don’t see the grb any more).
I’d say stipe made about $60k with the reebok deal. And because of how this payment system is setup you don’t get “the best fighters in the world”. There really is no incentive to become an mma fighter.
You’re right. A lot of fighters make little money unless you are on of the “too guys”. Lots will have jobs or something on the side. A number of them will run gyms or training on the side as well. Stipe is a fire fighter as well.
@Bee……….thanks for the numbers………
So, those who follow MMA, help me out here………
If Miocic made $120,000 for the fight, what does he walk away with. Almost 40% of that is going to taxes. How much do his coaches, trainers and staff make or are they on a per hour basis? Is he walking home with 40-50K, clean? I know these guys have sponsors, but outside of a few big names I doubt any of them make more than a few thousand from their sponsors. Multiply this by 4 or 5 (depending on how many fights they have per year), they really don’t make much money. Again, this is for the guys who follow this, are most MMA guys outside the top tier (the Connor McGregors and Rhonda Rouseys of the world) working full time jobs outside of MMA?
@Armada87…………I see your point. I definitely think that would take place and there would be an over reaction to a death. But, I do think more people would want to watch it knowing a death could take place.
If you told me right now that one of next week’s NFL Wild Card games would feature a play so ferocious that it would result in the death of a player, I would think the game would draw record numbers.
Top earners at UFC 195:
1. Robbie Lawler: $500,000
2. Carlos Condit: $315,000
3. Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski: $250,000
4. Stipe Miocic: $120,000
5. Dustin Poirier: $84,000
“A think a death in the ring would really help draw attention.”
Pa… c’mon Ziva. I’m not a MMA aficionado, but a death in the ring would be a huge, potentially lethal blow to UFC. They would lose a ton of viewership and following; parents wouldn’t let kids watch PPV nor sign up for MMA type camps. Sponsors would leave in droves. Gov’t would step in and conduct an investigation of some sort, etc. etc.
what category tickets did everyone apply for?
If you run UFC, you would prefer an exciting headliner and undercard to sell the PPV.
I watched Saturday night with a few guys who follow the sport. They said the main event would be great…..and it was, especially with the 5th round. When I asked them their thoughts about Miocic they said he is a tough very solid fighter, but lacks the “it” factor to sell PPV buys.
I’ll be honest……only reason I watch MMA is for the outlandish characters, to see a bloodbath and hopefully a death in the ring. A think a death in the ring would really help draw attention.
Heavy Weight division was always weakest.
Reason Stipe didn’t get the title shot sooner is because he fights safe. I’m not hating on the guy for it, but the ufc is fucked up in that they want exciting fights, but will still cut you if you lose. Can’t have it both ways. A win guarantees a paycheck and an entertaining loss could mean just a $24k payday. Why risk it?
The fight that comes to mind is the Miocic v Dos Santos fight. He fought very conservative and he really could have won that fight if he wasnt so concerned about saving his gas tank for 5 rounds (he had Dos Santos hurt bad and just reserved his gas).
most hyped i have seen him post fight and you can tell he was trying to be animated that is not how he is naturally, he said it himself previously in an interview dana thinks he’s not exciting enough cause he doesn’t talk shit. Unfortunately the sport is heading in that direction.
Let Stipe know we want a shout out. Not just to cleveland but to croatians around the world. 😉
Yes Stipe is 100% Cro and proud of it. He always posts stuff on social media and thanked his Croatian fans repeatedly. He also trained w Crocop in Croatia and is followed with the media out there extensively. The deal with Reebok doesn’t allow the fighters to put anything on their shorts anymore. Prior to the deal Stipe always had the Grb on his shorts and shirt. Also it hard to see but he has a stari grb tattoed on his foot. The guy is Croatian through and through lets hope he gets the title shot he has been promised and gets a title for Croatians worldwide.
I’m not disagreeing with you. i’m just saying that for some people when they go out of their comfort zone their results and production can suffer. If that is not his style – and based on what we have watched so far – it is not, then tough to expect him to turn into some talker.
I don’t have an issue with be yourself thats what I think, I’m just saying wont be many people showing up and cheering him in cause he’s cro other then from there basement.
Side point, just be yourself isn’t good enough these days, take a look at what sells, connor mcgregor is not being himself
By the way 100 fans for mavrovic is very impressive.
Tough to ask the guy to do and act different than what is natural to him. Don’t break out of character, just be yourself.
People in Cro will view him as an American because he doesn’t speak the language. If he has a title shot and the fight is not in a Croatian community, there will be no mass showing of support. Hell, Zeljko Mavrovic was only able to get hundred or so fans to show up for his title fight with Lennox Lewis in the US and he has has a much more deeper connection to Cro.
I follow the sport, Yes they are required to wear reebok gear, but there is no problem with a croatian flag draped over him post fight. McGregor had an irish flag draped over him after his win over Aldo. Also, post-fight interview can easily throw out a shout out to croats around the world supporting him etc… but he seems more attached to cleveland. Nothing wrong with that, but if I were in there croatia would be the first thing out of my mouth and obnoxiously talk about croatia. I just don’t see many croats connecting with him considering he probably is more of an amerikanac them a hrvat. Don’t get me wrong i cheer for him hes pure croat blood but I doubt he draws much croat attention.
Thanks. I wonder if Stipe could ask for a grb on his shorts. I don’t think national symbols are patented. Then again Reebok could easily tell him to f off.
Ante, the UFC used to allow the fighters to wear sponsors or whatever on their shorts. Now they don’t so much. You will see maybe one sponsor at most. The UFC signed with Reebok to supply the shorts.
When I say invasion that means we should show up. We will never be like the Irish because they’ve been here in greater numbers and longer.
Stipe has always recognized his Croatian side, in public and on social media. However he didn’t have anything Croatian on him last night. I wonder if that has anything to do with him signing for Reebok? I’m sure someone can enlighten us.
i think you’re off base. but i think stipe has done a lot historically to reach out to croats. he used to wear the grb. i believe he’s mentioned croatia many times. visited the country repeatedly. and if i’m not mistaken, even trained there possibly with cro cop. although i won’t pretend to be an expert on this
@ croatian crippler
you got any more insight here? you’re undoubtedly the expert
haha what a legend. Denis can you guys pick this guy up and follow him.
He should be more like this guy IMO
Champs are bringing in over 6 figures. Loud mouth champs like mcgregor probably bringing in half a million or more. Stipe blue collar guy doesn’t talk trash just gets it done, unfortunately that doesn’t sell these days, so u can see he mad an effort to be more vocal after the fight.
But for the love of God stipe throw us croats a bone, we need the flag out there, or pull a branko cikatic and come out to bojna cavoglave, something….say ur fighting for croatians around the world. etc etc…. if he plays this right he can make the ufc more international and become a sensation with croats like mcgregor and the irish.
“It was heard around the UFC water cooler that Miocic was not in line to receive a heavyweight title shot because he lacked personality and was not a big ticket sale.”
^ that’s a surprise. I view fighters like Machida this way-extremely boring to watch and the personality of a snail.
To clarify…….I know Dana and UFC are cashing in, but I’ve read stories where they pay the rank and file very little.
Where does the money come in with this sport? Is it mostly endorsements? How much can he get from a title fight, from winning a title and having titles matches as the champ? Are the title fights six-figure pay days at least? The people who follow the sport are loyal, but is there enough of them to gain a national endorsement deal. Outside of Rhonda R and a few guys who are done with the sport, I can’t think of many MMA guys with big endorsement deals.
Your exactly right. He doesn’t trash talk or talk smack. He goes in there gets the win and then goes home hangs out with family. He’s a normal guy. The people that actually know him like myself know he’s a super funny guy. If that came out more I’m sure he would be more popular. Either way though Dana White said he gets the next title shot.
To those of you who follow this more closely……….why is there no buzz around Miocic? Is it because he doesn’t talk trash and appears to be a normal guy while most of the people at the top of this sport are big personalities. Part of getting a title shot in this sport is being able to sell PPV buys and not all about “deserving” a shot. Kind of shitty, but that is how that business works. Boxing, UFC and pre wrestling are all about selling PPV/subscriptions.
As for a Croatian invasion for his fight………..no chance. The Irish organize and sell out charter flights. Hrvati struggle to organize bar outings. You are comparing apples to oranges on that one. Maybe he would connect more with the Cro community around the world if he spoke Croatian. Not meant to knock the guy with that comment, just giving a reason while there is no wide support.
Don’t follow UFC so i have to ask for some help…what’s this title shot stuff? Im guessing to fight the current champion? Also, is Mcgregor in his weight class? Thanks in advance
Stipe will get the shot. He will be the champ. Althought Arlovski is a has been, past his prime, i expected a swift ass wooping and thats what happened.
Would love to see croats out in vegas support stipe like irish come out for mcgregor, but I doubt we can pull that off for 2 reasons, one there are less of us and two does stipe reach out to croats at all? He’s gotta watch some of what mcgregor says…
Wow. That was fast.
Wow he owned Arlovski. I thought he would win but never expected that quick. It will be interesting to see what the UFC does now with the title shot. His last 2 wins were very impressive so it would be hard to argue not to give him a shot. I could see Miocic/Overeem though with the winner getting a shot though.
I’m in. That will be an organized Croatian Convention
If he gets the title shot, Croatian invasion on Las Vegas.
He better get the shot now.
Stipe is the fucking man!!!! Did us proud tonight!
Let’s go Stipe!!
a very “Rocky” portrayal of Miocic.
Instead of Philadelphia, an equally blue-collar Cleveland upbringing while training in a modest facility with an array of local Clevelanders.
All the while, Arlovski is training with Overeem and John Jones at the best facility in the game.
