Thank you Vatreni for an incredible month! Thank you for uniting Croatians all across the globe and making new fans lifetime supporters.
We will never forgot the summer of 2018 where you stayed Messi and Argentina, went to three straight extra time knockout round matches and eventually made the World Cup Final.
Although Croatia fell short of their first World Cup title, tons of positives (and some negatives) were taken from this tournament that will change Croatian soccer forever.
I am still decompressing from the Final but I will definitely have some input on the HNS inside the next week.
What a run!

“The leftists are scum of the earth and their forced multiculturism will be the end of us all.”
I wouldn’t say forced, more like manipulated into believing that multiculturalism is a postive thing.
“Cultures spring from religions; ultimately the vital force which maintains any culture is its philosophy, its attitude toward the universe; the decay of a religion involves the decay of the culture corresponding to it.”
You’d do well to remember that multiculturalism doesn’t only apply to race which is what most people believe, it applies also to religion.
Croatia is already multicultural, at least more than those 100% Muslim countries.
Freedom of religion is a part of Croatian law, that being the case, what will Croats be called if they reject black and arab Muslims down the track?
Like I said, not forced, but manipulated.
Multiculturalism creates liberal minded fools.

Keep it to Sport guys, I could say more but you guys wouldn’t get it. You’re all just simple minded Croats that should stick to talking about sport and not serious issues, that’s not for you guys.
my comment has been in moderation all morning!
^^@Anonymous- fuck off trying to impersonate my boy Soul Champ! There is only one Soul Champ, and that’s that.
Sonomabic…here are my thoughts on the final:
I was shocked but pleasantly surprised that we came out the way we did vs France…full on possession, attacking them, dominating the midfield, battling to win the balls back…we looked like the far better team.
I usually do NOT comment on officiating but in this case and regarding this game, I have to, because the ref was involved and somehow put his mark on the match. Prior to the first free kick that lead up to their first goal I noticed that we were getting fouls called against us, even in circumstances where we were just far more hungry and winning shoulder to shoulder duels. I remember one particular incident when we were trying to win the ball back…one of our guys tried to step in but was beat, then Modric quickly jumped in front and stole the ball…and then the ref called it a foul…it perplexed me.
From the view of a fan, it was very easy to see who wanted this game more. Our guys weren’t just controlling the midfield, we were winning many duels, the energy was extremely high, the optimism was honest and clear as the sky on a sunny day…I’m convinced we were going to win that game…everything we were doing resulted in total domination!
When Griezmann got the foul called in his favour my first thought was…”uh ohhh…this is gonna hurt”! I’ve been in many games where we are dominating and the other team gets a favourable call…I saw the writing on the wall…my only hope was a VAR…BUT the ref chose not to use it.
We kept on playing, the tempo was high and France still did very little to convince me that they had this game…they scored and our guys responded with some very good soccer, pressure, controlling the play and when Perisic (we go as Perisic goes) saw the opportunity, I could see his urgency and concentration…I knew right there that he would score and I was happy we were level!
The penalty! Once again, I’ll just say that we’ve all been in games where the bad calls have totally fucked our game…well, this ref, in my opinion, lacked common decency and an understanding of what his job actually was! The ball definitely hit Perisic’s hand and yes, it looked strange from different angles…my issue is this: If you can’t make a decisive opinion on the first few reviews and it takes you more than 1 minute…then you are looking to justify something that may or may nor have happened. A hand ball has to be a clear intent to move your hand to stop the ball. This ref became part of the scenario and was a topic…which should never happen! After he fucked us on the first goal and then took what seemed like 3 to 4 minutes to decide on the second goal, I then, for the first time in many years, felt like this retarded South American is gonna make history and put his footprint on the finals….AND HE DID JUST THAT!
The rest of the game really isn’t as important. Croatia went into the second half, having to score a goal. France had the half time to re-adjust and make a few detailed changes. We went out and had to risk scoring by pushing everyone to the limit…and they caught us!
I’m bitter…and at the same time I’m very proud of this team! I never imagined we would dominate such a big named team like France….in the WORLD CUP FINALS! We dominated France, England and everyone else prior to them! In particular, our performance in the finals was beautiful to watched and yet everything was marred because the ref decided he would put his mark in history. We made them look really juvenile at certain points of the game. I was waiting to see a magnificent Kante, Griezmann, Mbappe, Pavan….I wasn’t impressed with any of them. Mbappe is dangerous and a good attacker, the rest were fucking douche bag actors! After the penalty shot, Griezmann put up an “L” on his forehead and did some ridiculous fucking dance. When did you guys ever see any of our players do something fucking ridiculous like that?
I’m proud to be Croatian and to be completely honest, I’d never want to be French or German or Belgian, English….we are a fucking awesome nation…that has some incredibly wonderful traditions and culture! I honestly don’t care who calls me a fascist because I like Thompson…I like him even more now! We have something that few or maybe even nobody else has…we have an IDENTITY! nobody is like Hrvatska…we are a strong people that produce tons of talented and intelligent people. we never back down and always fight the fight! My Slavonci are fighters til the end while I see that its the exact same in every other region!
in my eyes, we are the best team in what everyone has called the best World Cup ever. we played a great brand of soccer…NOBODY can dispute we were not in the top 3 teams of the tournament….we, in my opinion, are the BEST on and off the field!
When you have the ball, Go as far as you can. Put all your effort into getting the ball even one step closer to the goal.
– sorry for Perisic – this isn’t his mindset, kinda affraid of this all the time (prove at his dribble), but i give him credit in his effort for defence. Only The God of Halilovic can do that!
It is time to assert our dominance and take the cup in the League of Nations. We saw against England and France that we more than have what it takes.
Had we been more rested we probably would have been able to come back from the deficit against France in the second half.
@ Toronto Croatia
My folks purchased one for me from the Nike store in Zadar.
Going to rock that everyday!
@ Svima
Dalić is going to use UNL as an opportunity for all the young studs to get a run out.
This World Cup final was a game changer.
This was the breakthrough we have been waiting for this past 20 years. ‘98 was an insight.
We now have a footballing identity.
Next now:
Brekalo
Halilovic
Vlašić
Rog
Coric
Sosa
Moro
Lovre Kalinic – 28 yrs old .
He showed us against Mexico and Iceland that he truly is the KRAKEN.
World class potential:
Brozovic – out played Kante in final.
Kovačić – super talented needs minutes.
Vrsaljko – still finding his rhythm.
Pjaca – still healing knee.
Čaleta-Car – smooth and big CB.
Rebić – power #9.
Kramaric – crafty second striker.
Question:
Does Rakitic stay on for two year cycle to captain this team to Euro 2020 crown?
How does Dalić build team to allow Perišić a 4 year run of dominance?
All good things.
X-factor ..
The Croatian people have shown that jugo/srb agenda has no place in Croatian society.
We love Croatia and our Vatreni.
Don’t take your eyes off the ball until the end
That’s the spirit of goalkeepeer!
Subasic should have to end his national carrier!
We need Halilovic to tell Perisic that He won’t be a regular player anymore! We need to know the fact about Perisic:
1/5 means only 1 goal for 5 chance
2/7 means 2 good cross with 7 attempt
Croatia Faces a motivated English and Spain in this nations. cup prepare for a big let down.
Crnkovic you homo.
So Croatia is to Croatian now
https://voiceofeurope.com/2018/07/french-anti-racism-organisation-bashes-croatian-football-team-because-it-is-too-white/
BTW i’ve fallen out with a bunch of my African friends over the final. I couldn’t believe they were supporting France!! Having said that I’m very proud to tell you all…as half Zambian half Croat…that EVERYBODY in Zambia was supporting Croatia with Croatia jersey’s everywhere throughout the tournament. lots of Sukers, Bobans and Modrics. That made me so happy. But when I spoke to my African friends in London they were supporting france!!! Assholes. Just goes to show that this fake western european identity politics game has got to everyone’s head. Real africans felt a natural solidarity and admiration for Croatia, for the way we play, and what we have achieved against the odds and against the big shot elites. fake africans (europeans with black skin)(individualists) supported france because they saw black against white. I hope that makes sense to you all and you see the difference
we have a perfect platform now. If Dalic is clever he will use the nations league to maintain this level of confidence while integrate new upcoming players into the team. i’m already looking forward to the next game…
also really hoping kovacic, rog and pjaca get moves to clubs where they will be stars…
1 other thing. real shame about nikola kalinic. i bet Santini would have done some damage as a late sub for mario…
love Bill Burr.
thanks for the comments @holyghost.
lots of good comments. a few dumbfuck comments as usual but not too many.
Love ante coric, special talent but 50/50 he makes it…psychologically a bit soft or something. we’ll see. plenty of talent coming through. i don’t see any reason we can’t continue to challenge for the top in the euros in 2 years and onwards.
Rebic already showed what he can do…pjaca can be as good or better…all the rest of them..we know the names..will be inspired
…Dalic should stay.
Speaking of upcoming Croatian talent…I’ll be following Ante Coric at Roma ..I see a lot of Modric qualities in him.
Alot of ppl saying we’ll never get this chance again – idk about that.
This is gonna inspire the next bunch of Modric’s and Rakitic’s etc. I expect 10-15 years only from now for us to be really good once again. Kinda like how we could’ve done awesome at Euro2008 just 10 years after the 98 success if not for that penalty shitshow. It honestly doesnt take that long when you have our talent, we be back!
I dont care if those believe shirts have a Nike symbol or not i still wanna get one haha! Even better if the money doesnt go to Nike actually 😉
Listen to Burr’s podcast from last Monday.
It was the Croatia/Russia match that made him really appreciate footy.
@Toronto Croatia
I am on the lookout for these as well. I have had no luck.
Please let me know if you find them.
Thanks
BILL BURR is a Croatia fan!!

Check out 0:28 onwards…basically makes fun of the flopping that lead to the first French goal, and Griezmann’s pathetic celebration afterwards. HAHA, funny stuff!!
The leftists are scum of the earth and their forced multiculturism will be the end of us all
Also – France won and rioted. A few hundred arrested and I think 10 dead. How bad would that have been if France lost?
Poglavnik that’s sweet but not Authentic. It should have the Nike symbol at the bottom (normally I wouldn’t care but I was thinking of getting them as gifts)

Evo.

Does anybody know if/where you can buy the Nike Croatia checker tshirts that the players were wearing during the zagreb celebrations?

Looks like they say ‘believe’ on them in diagonal letters. I thought Nike might be selling them on their official website but doesn’t look like it
I think the goal keeper was at least part French Um maybe ?

^^sorry both penalties combined
At what point do we walk off the field if this happens again?
We are constantly fucked with bogus penalties
On the handball:
1) Bad penalty
2) Potential offside, as Bronk first noted
3) Pogba push foul on Mandzukic, as I first noted
4) Umtiti so uncoordinated he almost entirely whiffed on his flick, causing Perisic to not know where hands should be. – just a gripe
5) Ref looks at play and asks himself, “Which country’s media will have bigger hissy fit about this call?” Answer: PK for France
@ Ante
Makes sense to me. As far as pussy riot
Or any other leftist scum I would tear
Their limbs off.
Slavonac from Canada……..I want your opinion on the final, where the fuck are you?
http://www.kpowbooks.com/2018/07/16/croatia-beats-france/ This is an article I found for any of you conspiracy guys.
@ Maminjo
I didn’t post that Thompson stuff. Another troll impersonating people. Some people’s lives are so sad that they have to come onto a website site to impersonate others to stir things up. Pathetic.
The French are scum, that little faggot giving the loser
Sign after his bullshit goal.
@BZ you may be right. Did not follow him at Monaco. I hope he is replaced because other than that one penalty shoot out he indeed looked lethargic. I know they are celebrating in Croatia but I am still struggling to get over it. My hope is that this success translates into an improvement in Croatian society and that the corruption and greed that has hurt the country is slowly replaced with better values. I realize that is a lot to ask.
Tko jebe Kalinic odjebi ga. Serbia will never make to a World Cup Final or let alone get out of the group stages they are jealous of what we have achieved and of 1998 World Cup. And when Yugoslavia won the youth tournament in Chile in 1987 Robert Prosinecki won the golden boot also Boban an Suker were playing good. In 1990 World Cup Prosinecki was named best young player. At a later tournament Suker was top scorer. Our players always carried them they are jealous.

@Mixed Grill- Not buying the Kalinic spin. Subasic’s shit show had nothing to do with injury, & everything to do about basic goaltending fundamentals. He was wrong footed on several goals this tournament, and in the past few years. Literally goalie 101.
Our incredible midfield with it’s dominating possession masks our goalie & LB weaknesses.
There are no headlines. Nobody cares about this. Just some Yugo portals and Holiga. Everyone ignores them anyway.
Who cares they gave France the match.
@Mali Ante
Relax. Nobody is making a stink about Thompson.
It’s just pro Yugo web portals like Balkan Insight who always write crap like this. Nobody cares.
Even Holiga’s attempts throughout the tournament were ignored, and that loser wrote like half a dozen articles, lol.
And even if FIFA did take away our second place we would boycott all our UEFA qualifying and Tournament games so they would be losing out on Croatia.
They surely cant ban the Second place and Luka Modrics Golden Ball award or else HNS and Croatia can take FIFA to court. We are part of an exclusive club of countries who have made the World Cup which is like 14 so its very difficult to just make one.Netherlands have lost all three times and Hungary two times.
The controversy is growing about thompson presence at this official celebration
The headlines are beginning to read that Croatian team requests, ridrs, sings, celebrates with fascist leader
There is even calls growing to wipe the second place finish off the books
People thought simunic was bad! That was one guy in front of 20000. Thus was the whole team and the state in front of 500000! With the world watching
So dumb
@Kralj Zvonimir
In the picture, those Pogda’s body language acknowledge that we were the better team. I think so.

Croatia got paid.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/prize-money-revealed-2018-world-194330323.html
Thompson is just a folk singer like Dylan nothing more.
FIFA/UEFA will never let us win a title, to much money to lose for them.
Fuck the bloated and overhyped team of Africa United. In most neutral viewers’ eyes, we were the winners of this World Cup. Just a tremendous shame that Luka wasn’t able to lift that trophy die to extremely questionable calls by that bastard referee. France looked extremely nervous for the first 40 minutes, even when they were handed two free goals by the ref. They clearly knew they were playing a better team in Croatia. Without those two corrupt goals, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Croatia would have won, clearly being the better team on the fielsld. Agree about Subasic though, we should definitely have played Kalinic…. with all the up and coming talent, we can look forward to lots of positive runs from Croatia. Dalic has instilled a mental stability and force to the players, hope he stays on for as long as possible. The HNS would never cough up money for a foreign coach, that’s a dead given.
This could very well be the starting point for an exciting future of (even more) elite football for Croatia.
The next version of the team will be quite good already, and in the hands of Dalic, if he chooses to stay on, we could see an excellent performance at Euro 2020. Just imagine how well this lineup could play in two more years of consistently working together:
Lovre Kalinic; Vrsaljko, Lovren, Vida, Pivaric; Brozovic, Badelj, Kovacic; Rebic, Perisic, Kramaric.
Those players are all still young enough to have a prime shot at the Euro 2020, especially after this tournament experience.
Add to that a host of younger players around the field—defenders Jedvaj, Mitrovic, Caleta-Car, Leovac and the already named midfielders and forwards galore—and Croatia has what it takes to contend for the next major tournaments.
https://www.croatiaweek.com/zadar-split-to-host-homecoming-parties-for-croatian-world-cup-players/
3 starters from Zadar.
Zero professional team in Zadar.
Need to have an elite youth academy built in Zadar.
That could grow into a future club.
A lot talent in Northern Dalmacija.
We actually could be even better ..
Will they ever key us win ?

On that note, maybe Kalinic was right. M
His back hurt and he said he couldn’t perform. Dalic sent the message that if you don’t go on your condition will be treated with suspicion, you are traitor to the team and will be sent home. Maybe that was a big mistake.
Remember Modric was not always inspired in his play for us. He came together in some games in the past and for most games in this tournament. He is a huge talent however and I would be very happy if he wins Ballon Dor.
So lessons learned from 98 (Boban) 2018 (Subasic). If you cant play, recuse yourself for the sake of the team or hire coaches who can make that call.
I honestly think when Modric retires we wont find another Modric type player who leaves his heart and soul on the ground. Coric and Halilovic could be a similar lazy midfield type like Niko Kranjcar who just doesnt chase to many balls or defends. Modric will be 34 at Euro 2020 so who knows if he will play if he does it wont be at his best.
Almost all of the goals against us in the knockout round were saveable..
Subašić had a great penalty shootout showing, but his in game play was below average.
Elcroato.what is arrogant about France putting on a jersey with 2 stars??? They did beat us and won the WC to earn that second star. I.would bet that there were jerseys or shirts made up for Croatian players had we won but those probably have hit the shredder.
Im tired of hearing that we should have won. We scored only one good goal against France the second was a gift by the goalie, look at the Pogba goal and Mbappe goals absolutely superb. France was the better team that day and in the tournament and the deserve to win the World Cup.
Thing is Thompson isn’t anti-Semtic, he’s a Catholic.
He’s also a conservative, not a liberal facist.
Thing is Thompson isn’t anti-semitic, he’s a Catholic.
Thompson is also a conservative, not a liberal facist.
The Croatian media can go and get fucked!
@elcroato Yes France had jerseys with 2 stars after the game. What is the problem here im sure there were shirts made up for our team if we would have won. I don’t see how this is arrogant.
I’m surprised how little coverage there is about Subasic and his play. I cant look at those goals again. Were they save-able?
Did anyone see that France put on jerseys with 2 stars after the game was over? That is really pretentious and arrogant …. makes my blood boil.
big controversies and talk of big fines/suspension/point deductions/closed home games
the media is buzzing that the croatian team celebrated for hours with known fascist and anti semitic thompson. and sung ustase songs such as geni geni kameni
Don’t forget to mention Brozovic, who to me was the unsung hero of our success. He is young, I think 25, and can anchor any future team.
But I can’t really think of the future now. Why? so that the next team decades from now gets screwed by bad calls again?
The one thing we should take from this is to develop a Croatian style (or further develop it). Based on a team of creative midfielders, team play, pressing football and playing to win. My fear is that, just as after 98, the expectation and pride become so high that we revert to a defensive style because we fear losing more than anything. I.e. the era of the Kovac brothers.
@Anonymous
Why are you conveniently excluding the Group Stage?
We were in the toughest Group. We beat Argentina, Nigeria, and Iceland’s A team with our B team. All very convincingly.
France barely got past Australia and Peru, and drew with Denmark. The reason we get to play an ‘easy’ Denmark is because we had to deal with difficult teams in the Group stage (when France did not).
But even in the knockout stage, Argentina still popped three goals past France in their loss. France also got to play Uruguay without Edinson Cavani (who was incredible for them and is much more impactful to that team than Suarez).
They drew with Denmark. Same as we did. Unlike us, they barely beat Argentina. It’s really just the whole us being ‘lucky’ to get Russia, but it’s not our fault that Russia beat Spain. I preferred to play Spain actually. I think France were luckier to get Uruguay without Edinson Cavani, than us getting to play a doped up Russia.
France also got a LOT of favorable calls throughout the tournament. We got none.
France, Croatia, or Belgium could have won this thing…but you need a good draw and some good calls going your way.
We actually got a very poor draw (being drawn into the Group of Death) but we made our luck happen when we topped that group and avoided France early. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any real favorable calls throughout this tournament, which is critical to winning a World Cup.
Some of the fifa prize money our soccer federation won this wc could be used to sway Christian pulisic over to our side next wc since the north American wc is 8 years away..be unreal if a kid of his calibre changes his mind to his roots.
We just need to hope for a four-man core to work with in our midfield/attack (similar to how we had Modric, Rakitic, Mandzo and Perisic). We always seem to scrum together a decent enough set of defenders and goalkeeper anyway.
If any four players out of Kovacic, Rebic, Pjaca, Krovinovic, Vlasic, Brekalo, Pasalic, Rog, Halilovic, Tudor, Coric, Majer, or Moro can pan out…then we’ll make another deep run at a World Cup.
Marko Pjaca was a star (who looked like a poor man’s Ronaldo at the last Euros) but this ACL injury really hurt him and quite possibly messed up his career. I really hope he can make a full recovery. He had incredible potential.
Another intriguing player is Benfica’s Krovinovic. Also just came back from a major knee injury. We’ll see how he does. Such a shame that a couple of our excellent prospects have had serious injuries already.
Brekalo has star potential as well. He saved Stuttgart’s season and I fully expect him to be another Perisic for us. He looks good.
If Pjaca and Krovinovic fully recover and continue on their career path, then we look like we have some solid players with serious potential coming our way.

@The Real Deal
We have several young midfielders coming up the ranks. Way too early to predict if we have anyone with star potential (especially since Croats are notorious for developing late).
Nikola Vlašić is intriguing and could be an Eden Hazard like player. He’s still surprisingly young at 20, and he’s an excellent physical specimen for his age. He’s already very built, and yet has excellent speed. The good news is that his father is Joško Vlašić, so if Nikola has any sort of potential Joško will definitely make sure that he maxes out on that potential.

Kalinic made the poster I see.
Of course many of you guys can make up excuses why we lost to make yourselves feel better, but the reality is that France are the world champions and we don’t hear them saying Croatia can shove their quality football up their asses.
Let’s have a closer look at Frances knockout stages, beat Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia in the Final. Worthy winners.
Croatia, draw with Denmark, draw with Russia, beat England and lost to France. They made the Final and that’s a great achievement, but when you look at our knockout stage results it was clear we would find it hard to beat France or Belgium.

FUCK FRANCE AND THAT SLIMEBAG GREASEMAN
A BIG WIN FOR CORRUPTION AND FIFA!
We are champions.
Take that VAR cup and shove it up your ass.
My 10 year old Son feels Croatians are the best footballers on the planet.
The world saw our quality.
4 years ago he thought it was Germany.
Bog i Hrvati.
Dalić is plus one for saying this run was djaspora as well.
I read some reports today that Kante was as bad as he was due to stomach problems, which is why he got substituted. If he had stomach problems, then why did he start the match and play as long as he did? Sounds like they were just making excuses for him.
I mean Belgium played the best looking football.
Obviously the best team won the world cup, France.
For all our midfield domination did our midfielders give Mandzukic the service he needs?
All I heard from Slavonac from Canada is how great Mandzukic is but he needs service, did he get the service he needs in the final?
Is Mandzukic the reason we like to get it out to the wings and put in crosses repeatedly with no success?
I think the way we play is predictable to the opposition that they aren’t to fussed with us having more possession when it rarely translates to goals.
Does anyone know if we have an Eden Hazard type midfielder coming through the ranks? That’s the type of midfielder we really need.
Belgium was the best team in the tournament by a country mile.
@ Lovro
Definitely. I am not an expert on Kante (haven’t been following the BPL too closely this past season), but Modric and even Mandzukic were able to deal with him with ease.
The dive and the erroneous VAR-penalty decision were irritating, but sadly, not much we could do here. Our players tried their best to equalize in the second half, but as soon as our players’ tank ran out in the 50th minute or so, their sharpness in attacking waned (and understandably so).
No matter. I am still very very proud of this team, despite our “peh” with the ref. 🙂
@Mainzfeldski , Commentators Bilic and Ryan Giggs mentioned Kante by name saying he looked bad. Both also agreed on the two poor decisions by the ref
@ Lovro
Alexi Lalas of FOX even “predicted” that the French midfield would shut down our own midfield.
Hahahaha. Hilarious.
Made me so proud that Thompson was singing with the boys.
Just wait til Holiga posts an article tomorrow how Croatia is a shameless country that lets fascist run it
Rakitic and Co are getting roasted on Social Media for posting pictures and dancing/singing with Thompson. The leftist yugos are losing their shit.
France’s midfield as good as ours? Kante? What the fuck did he do? We made them look like shit.
All I’m reading on social media is that fans didn’t like the way France played, allowing Croatia with so much possession, diving and complaining, and that they were upset about the referee decisions.
The only enjoyable part of this final was the play of Croatia.
FUCK FRANCE AND FUCK CORRUPT FIFA!
I’m so fucking miserable right now, I can’t get over the fact that we lost that match because of a couple of bullshit calls. Call me negative or whatever, I don’t care. This is probably the last world cup for some of our best players an I don’t see us reaching the world cup final game anytime soon, like in twenty or more years. I hope I’m wrong but will we ever have another Modric and Rakitic combo again? This was our golden generation and we got fucked by two bullshit calls. I just wanted to see Croatia win one world cup before I die. At least the euros are coming up with this fine team, but to me the world cup is the most important. Is the future truly bright for Croatian footballers? Please help me and give me some perspective, shit. I am still proud of silver but I truly feel this was our best shot at winning gold and we were robbed! That penalty deflated them and changed the whole flow of the game. I believe if not for that, we would be world champs right now! What a cheap French win, how can they be proud of that?
Croatia made the teams they played in the semi-final and finals bunker against us.
Think about that. So much respect and knowledge that it was the only way to play against us.
@holy ghost
I hear ya,1980 olympics boycott, munich olympics, ukraine invaded after olympics..I’m not that smart but it’s not that hard to connect the dots.Full respect to our armed forces and of hrvatskas forces without them their unbelievable bravery ,croatia wouldnot exist, they will live forever for their service to keep freedom.
The thought that Pussy Riot got on field in the first place, and got on the field the very second Croatia had a break later on in the game seems suspicious.
I can’t watch that game again but I’m happy to read comments by those that have. I know many people who take solace in the celebrations but I don’t manage to. I’ll never be able to stomach the flaws in football, the diving, the cheating, the lies, in front of fans who are often in tears. It’s too much, masochistic, destined for heart break. I hope despite the final that var is the beginning of change, that the outrage against us in the first half will compell even more change, that dissent will be punished, that clowns like Neymar will be ostracized. A commentator from bbc said that the peculiarity of football is that frequently they better team does not win. Maybe that is true.
I really believe the officials were told to make calls in France
Benefit. We will learn the truth in 20 years when some one squeals. FIFA crooks remember when they fucked over Ireland
in that playoff match with Hand ball France. Then couple years ago admitted paying the Irish soccer federation a donation?
France is a shit country and we must never become like them.
If this doesn’t make you feel better about the ‘loss’ nothing will.
https://youtu.be/oDAmfvHFGVs
If you’re Croatian you’re always a winner no matter what happens.
I’m super proud and Croatia was the team and envy of the tournament. Even with tired legs we out matched, hustled and controlled the flow of the game. Sadly the fix controlled the outcome but the corruption is throughout the world. This is why I read the Bible daily and pray for the return of the two best politicians, GOD & Jesus.
FYI: The longest blood moon in over hundred years is on the 27th, prior to that was the eclipse that crossed the U.S. from Florida to Washington state, before that was the revelation 3 prophecy on September 23, 2017, of the woman with the moon at her feet, sun by her shoulder and crown of 7 stars, first time in mans history. Lastly, since 2017 the uptick in world earthquakes, disasters has been boundless. Take notice because the true KING is on route.
Anyone notice that Vukojevic is in background of all the team photos that were being posted from Russia on instagram?
Looks like we hired him back pretty quick. hahahaaa
@Canuckcro
That was for you brother.
Soccer and politics go hand and hand..i.e.how could we forget zvonimir boban kicking yugo cop at maksimir stadium 1990..or el salvador invading Honduras 1969 igniting war..fuck it’s all political we won that game and hardcore fans know it.
No theory brother, I served in the Canadian infantry, 1RCR, for 10 years, retired with an honorable discharge, rank Master Corporal on route to SGT, I received 2 campaign stars for 03 and 06 tours in Kabul and Kandahar.
The elite radicalized me through the illusion of bringing democracy to woman and children. In reality, we their to insure the corrupt government that was installed bowed down to the west. On top of that they use sports as a major distraction to appease the people. You might have noticed that whenever there’s major sports tournament the terrorist attacks and war rhetoric totally subsides but once the tournament is over, it begins again.
Lastly, all the terrorist attacks are predetermined by the elite, they fund ISIS aka Taliban, Al qaeda, Mujahideen to scare the civilians of the world and then send their payed armies to extinguish. Ever notice how all terrorist attacks are always soft targets, ie woman, children etc etc. To this day all army bases across Canada have zero security, in the late 90’s it was made public knowledge to all citizens due a hazing incident within the airborne, thus to mitigate any embarrassment they made all bases open to the media and public. That being said if its public knowledge why wouldn’t terrorists take out 1000 of soldiers because its only meant to scare the population for control.
Anyway hope this made sense.
@holy ghost
I might as well be a conspiracy cro..imo I theorize that fifa was held hostage and told France must win to bring their messed up situation as a country of newcomers some unity..50 attacks in 10a by mercilous mus country nationals..its like a powder keg ready to go…so powers bigger than fifa forced this France win(secret societies, lunatic fringe whatever. One of the English commentators said it was a victory for the immigrants of France.. just a theory.
MOJ DOM JE HRVATSKAAAAAA LA LA LA LA
I just re-watched the game because my anger subsided, thus being less bias. Well, it didn’t work because I found more BS besides the first 2 goals. I’m also not scrolling back to read everyone’s comments in case it was already covered.
Firstly, Mbappé 78th min hand ball that led to counter. Its was stopped but should have been a free kick 10-15 yards from the box.
Secondly, Rakitic 81st min quick free kick which sent Perisic behind the D. The ref was set but only blew the whistle after Ivan was through and clear. SUPER SAD & Obvious
Lastly, not to be down on Subasic, he was the reason we got through the penalties but did not seem like his family was being held hostage at gun point. Re- Watching the goals, I swear something was off, not even a dive or an attempt.
Anyway, any comments appreciated, minus turkey lol.
The celebration is definitely helping ease the pain. Well done Hrvati!
@Kristano, sleep?
How are you going to sleep tonight mishko
HOLY SHIT it’s almost night and the entire TRG is red with flares. I’ve never seen anything like this in my entire life. It’s a beautiful day to be Croatian.
Does anyone know if Zlatko Sexy Dalic is staying?
We are playing England and Spain i think at least Iniesta has retired.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4XaHlwJoiM
I am curious to hear what Zvonimir Boban has to say about the final? He is a legend but now works for FIFA.
Dalic did wonders. A foreign coach would never had generated the brotherhood we witnessed.
Suba was disappointing in the final. All too often he doesn’t move because of a screen or wall (england game). Without big diving saves you can’t win the world cup.
In all, we witnessed a beautiful run. Svaka Cast. It brought our people together.
Modric will be the Ballon D’Or winner.
We needed Kovacic and Brozo to continue to improve. Rebic will be our superstar moving forward and I hope Pjaca can get back on track after his horrific injury.
Before Euros, let’s win the inaugural Nations League.
An automatic birth would give us plenty of time to mix in young talent and experiment with different formations in meaningless friendlies.
I’m in Stubicke Toplice on a hill and can see that a BIG storm is coming. They need to get this show on the road
There’s going to be close to 400,000 people on the streets of Zagreb right now. It’s taking close to 4 hours to get the bus with the guys from the airport to Trgu. I’ve never seen anything like this in my entire life
Check out Pitanas twitter feed
Dalic had this to say.
“ I don’t talk about referees but let me say this one thing. In a World Cup final you do not give such a penalty”
Dalic has class and is football smart. I hope he stays on as the coach instead of moving to a club in Europe.
Yo boyz Live the discussion on here. Some real smart comments.
Zee> I agree with you, we need to fight fire with fire. We need to naturalize a few fast black men quick. Imma hoping my 3 black step sons become the goods! I think they will choose Croatia. If that fails, let’s open our borders to anybody FAST!
To those wanting to get rid of that idiot Dalić, I think we needed Mourinho too. Too!
I’d trade our boring Croatian streets for a World Cup trophy! France is on fire right now. The partying was so amazing that some young men accidently kicked in store fronts and borrowed the scooters. Fuck da police throwing tear gas at those youths.
Let those kids party.
Losing actually worked out for the better France and Croatia can both celebrate. If we won France wouldn’t have a party.
live webcam Ban Jelacic Square……neopisivo !!!!!!!!
https://www.livecamcroatia.com/hr/kamera/zagreb-ban-jelacic
Hoping Modric has one more qualifying campaign in him, this team can make some noise at the Euros.
Zagreb is on fire!
Amazing atmosphere right now!
I can’t tell if we won or lost!
I cant believe looking at our 1998 World Cup squad we had Petar Jrpan and Silvio Maric who didnt gave great success at club or international level as well as Anthony Seric was in that squad Kengur Australac Klokan. Who knows what will happen after Modric and Rakitic also Perisic ,Mandzukic. If Halilovic doesnt mature at AC Milan i dont know if anyone will out up with his attitude and take him anymore. Coric at Roma will be interesting to see if ge develops into something.
@Sepp @Mixed Grill
Totally agree. One thing, maybe it was said before and obvious to many here. In my opinion, the main thing driving the WC is big business. I believe the elite of France have set themselves up as the capital for the African market. Over a billion people currently and growing rapidly. People buy from people they can identify with i.e. mbappe’s and pogba’s. The 2020 Euro is where Croatia should focus it efforts.
@Livno thanks for the stream link!
Dalic was an improvement to Cacic but did he really change from when Cacic was coach. Basically played the same lineup.
Im sorry to keep saying this but Subasic was shit all tournament except for the penalties which he is know for being good at even at club level.
2 of the goals in the final would have been stopped by any to goalie. He didn’t even attempt to dive. Every long range shot on him would go in…..no attempt to dive. He looked really bad in the final. Hope he retires like Pletikosa did after 2014.
i knew i had the right idea not playing for you losers. nice game
Great tournament. It’s a tough ending but we should be proud and greatful to have made it this far. Hard to blame any individual. Many things went our way leading up to the final: no major ref issues, suspensions, critical injuries (debatable), fan issues, favorable bracket and only some minor off field Drama (Kalinic and Vida).
Good work!
mishko did u upload that?
hehe it’s awesome! i even posted the first one to my FB page
goodness what a heros’ welcome! I love it!

I don’t think France had anything like this upon their arrival home. We need to all be very proud of the achievement, regardless of the short stick we got with the officiating.
We have set an example to everyone what unity within and our fighting spirit with cool heads can accomplish thanks to Zlatko Dalic for taking this team from on the verge of not qualifying for the WC to the finals and winning everyone’s hearts !
Pjaca has had a few injuries and has been loaned out from Juventus to Bundesliga could be another potential bust.
But, man did we ever play lights out the first 55 minutes (ironically, when Kante was subbed out). Modric owned Kante big time.
Would had been interesting to see how the game would had played out without the two calls going against us. We are 0-0 or 1-0 for us at half time. This is what is eating me up.
But we weren’t, and we were forced to continue to press due to the bad calls.
We always knew that to win the WC, you need to be good and lucky. We are both, good and lucky up until the final. Then we got two unlucky calls. And no matter how good we were playing, our luck ran out (and conversely, France got massively lucky). Had those calls gone the other way, I have no doubt we could’ve won the game.
That is why this hurts more than ’98. We weren’t controlling the game nowhere near like we were yesterday.
Referees in football have emerged from a culture of corruption and incompetence. They don’t know how to interpret rules, too sophisticated for them.
Not to beat a dead horse, but this is from the FIFA rulebook on handballs:
Handling the ball
Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with
the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into
consideration:
• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.)
counts as an infringement
• hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an
infringement
To issue a sanction the referee must decide it was a “deliberate” handball, and there is no way that was the case here. Perisic’s hand is in a natural position and he had no time to react after the ball went past Blaise Matuidi.
That is obvious when you watch the incident in real-time, but Pitana was shown numerous slow-motion replays. Seeing an incident in slow-motion removes any context and makes it look worse than it was.
The plane landing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ospHjnh4lFQ
I with you guys were in Croatia, it’s fucking nutz. I live 30 minutes north of Zagreb and you can FEEL the energy.
This is the plane doing a fly over
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzdbqXm3JAY
Hard not to feel very sad today.
My main complaint, other than the referee, was Subasic just standing still ball after ball. Boban 98.
We so dominated the first half, but two goals were gifted to them by an incompetent referee. Griezmann took a dive and was rewarded for it and they got an undeserved penalty. So once again, the sport is tainted. This is why, deep down, I resent the game of football and only really follow the Vatreni. I never get this helpless feeling watching other sports.
We were preoccupied with playing and winning and probably did not argue enough for the calls we should have received. But good for us.
I would need to watch the game again to be able to say more, but my nerves can’t handle it.
Dalic was an improvement over others, and not a bad coach, but it seems we always compare coaches to other Hrvats, not to coaches in general. I think our guys won those matches, more-so than the coaching staff. No real bold decisions when we needed them most. Staff’s reactions to other teams changes also were bad. Boldest thing the staff did was when Vukojevic chanted “glory to Ukraine” with Vida and got booted out of Russia 🙂
We did well, but needed that extra 10% from the coaching staff, as always. If Cappello or Mourinho were the coach, we would have won today–simple as that. Example: we sat deep for every corner this tournament, which is why every time the opposition had a corner, we seemed shaky. This cost us during the Russia match and today for the own goal. This goes on coaching. We had an injured goalie out there who seemed to not be able to move…this goes on coaching. All things being equal, even if we took care of these two things, odds are even with bad reffing, we could have won.
Unhappy with 2nd place, but 4 out of 5 times the team that played the way we did in the first half is up by at least 1 goal.
Nothing needs to change, but there are a few nice to haves…
Goalie upgrade
LB upgrade
Alternative formation experience to get more attackers on the field to help our conversion ratio.
Regarding the young guys listed above except Kovacic, a few things:
1) none of them are winners, or game changers yet. In fact, year over year, their teams did significantly worse.
2) You can forget about Rog & Pasalic taking us anywhere. Not even worried about this being a “Modric is a bust” situation.
3)Brekalo & Halilovic are good talents but too small to bring us to the next level on their own. They need alot more talent around them.
@King Bronk- I see you agree with the Pogba takedown. We just can’t get the monkey off our back regarding these bad calls.
some choice words for ref here:
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/soccer/article-france-croatia-gave-us-a-classic-in-bizarre-world-cup-final/
This last month has been as enjoyable as that summer of 98. I didn’t think I could ever get as emotionally worked up as I did then. The dream finish fell a little short but we all should have seen that coming. After all VAR appears to be an abbreviation for varanje.
Jokes aside, super proud to be Croatian! Super happy to see Croats around the world unite and to see those struggling back home having a source of happiness.
Im happy Djoković ended up winning Wimbledon. He was supporting our team.
Thank you Hrvatska. The dream is over, but what a dream it was. I’ll never forget the summer of 2018 just like the summer of 1998, and the joy and hope you gave to us all.
You played like lions and you worked out a plan to neutralise France in the world cup final. What a shame you couldn’t find a way to neutralise the Argentine referee.
I’m looking forward to 2038 already. Next time we’ll win it.
People should understand France didn’t play any extra time games they had the harder bracket draw they defeated Argentina,Uruguay,Belgium while we went to E.T. and penalties against Denmark and Russia also England E.T. Thats adds up to an extra game we were only good in the first half second half didnt look good.
Croatia continually ends up on the wrong side of farcical officiating, no matter how well or how hard they play, they will never be allowed to win.
Having said that, in no way does that take anything away from the tremendous effort, heart and skill of the players…it’s just the harsh reality, whether we choose to accept it or not!
U BOJ!!!
The coach did criticize the call for the record.
We had bad luck in that we gave the ref the opportunity to screw us which he did. That’s what happens when small countries play big countries.
Take a look at the 23rd min Pogba brings down Mandzukic in the box on a free kick-same play that happened to Kane and we didn’t get a call- VAR ignored it too.
Our handball was a red alert.
That’s the way it rolls in soccer. Big countries get these calls small countries don’t and that’s the margin of error.
The Fix Is In as I’ve been saying for years.
Still questions marks over the futures of even Kovacic,Halilovic,Rog,Pasalic,Balic,Brekalo whether or not they can sustain good form and be standard players in their big European clubs the jury is still out.You dont want them to end like that 1999 Croatia youth squad with many becoming below average players.
Spoke to a few people who watched the game one guy said Croatia defeated themselves. The Own Goal by Mandzukic the handball that resulted in a penalty by Perisic. And the two goals by Mbappe and Pogba the Goalkeeper failed to even attempt to dive or at least make an effort.
@ veliki coban
Hey moron. Dalic did a hell of a job and had the respect of the players. You bring up that fool Bilic. The same guy who we did not qualify with for WC 2010.
Ok. Keep dreAming.
That was not a penalty and definitely NOT CLEAR TO OVER TURN ORIGINAL CALL.
@ Velikii Coban
Points are well made about Dalić.
I am giving a pass on him making major game shifts in the second half’s because he was honoring a rhythm of the core veteran crew.
Shit he tried to bring Kalinic on and he quit?
Dalić lack of aggressive second half adjustments led to three extra time matches that played a part in the final.
Deschamps took off golden child Kante because he was ineffective.
We actually left the final with one sub on the bench.
Really curious to see how he leads going forward.
We have a lot young talent in the pipe line.
UEFA Nations League is an ideal opportunity to give these boys a run out.
You took us to the promise land only to have a Ref shit on the Soul of football.
Now do you have the balls to turn the page.
Veteran crew will all retire. They have fulfilled their potential.
Rakitic is the only player I am curious that will stay?
He will have all the horses around him like at Sevilla.
As much as I appreciate this site, I think some improvements need to be made. @yeh makes vile posts without moderation and others repeat their comments multiple times without moderation. Not sure what can be done, but it’s a mess right now.
Dalic did a great job overall, but I think he overplayed his hand in the last few games by relying on the heart of some players and not trusting some of the reserves. This is especially true with Subasic, but also evident with the late use of subs. Part of the problem is that we did have some glaring positional weaknesses outside of our midfield. No one to relieve Mandzukic and had to start Strinic at LB. Also agree with comments about our setup on set pieces.
I just saw an articles that Luis Suarez commented that Pogba was offside on the first goal (free kick) and influenced the own goal. I noticed it at the time, but felt so hard done by the dive that it was almost an afterthought. I don’t buy into the conspiracy theories nor that the ref was against us, but I do think he make several poor decisions. Basically, he had a bad game. However, when you let 4 goals in, even if 2 were possible ref errors you have to put some of that blame on our play.
I won’t fault Modric if he retires. He is now our undisputed greatest ever player. He has a weaker supporting staff than ‘98, yet took this team a step further. Anything more that he gives the team is gravy at this point. I hope the young guys step up, but there are no sure things. Unfortunately, Halilovic will likely do nothing at Milan and be finished. I like the fact that Kovacic recognizes he needs to play more, he has what it takes. Kramaric and Rebic can still get better and we do have some good young prospects. We should be competitive for the next couple of tournaments and hopefully this performance motivates the future generations.
Croatia has the best coach and soccer players we have been using, such as Bronko Ivankevich and player like Radushovich, who is helping the Persepolis team in Iran. (Congratulations to the Croatians)
HVALA VATRENI
On the penalty, I thought Perisic’s hand did ever so slighty move towards the ball, no problem with that being called.
How Croatia can dominate the first half and only have 1 goal to show for it is the problem.
We got these great midfielders and they’re complimented with a workhorse striker with no class, a classy striker is what this team needs.
Also glad it wasn’t Lovren that scored the own goal, and that it wasn’t Strinic on the handball.
no innocents in Paris..all are subhuman blacks or worse..white liberals
not my fault, i got a small dick
@yeh
Keyboard warrior encouraging harm / death on innocent people. You’re a disgrace hiding behind anonymity.
watch your language boy

Boldest thing the staff did was when Vukojevic chanted “glory to Ukraine” with Vida and got booted out of Russia 🙂
Dalic also said at the end to the media that “the better team won,” which were the words of a sellout in my opinion…what could be a better way to deflect attention off himself and the staff. Players awesome; heart and energy were there. But for superior extra-ordinary results, need a top-tier coach. We’ve got plenty of money for soccer…believe me. Maksimir is the most expensive stadium in Europe, and yet most of the money building it was siphoned off and it still looks shit.
That goes to my larger point; in corrupt countries (yes we are one of them), a foreign coach is always recommended because then they are protected from all the BS and can focus on making the right decisions, no matter how little PC they are. Hell, why do you think the African teams have foreign coaches?
We did well, but needed that extra 10% from the coaching staff, as always. If Cappello or Mourinho were the coach, we would have won today–simple as that. Guys – we played good.
We good
We gonna go well in Euro 2020
we’re good
looking forward to Dalic’s plans : )
@yeh
What a fucking disgusting comment.
with all those packed streets in Paris..i hope a nice “refugee” gets keys to a big truck..if you know what i mean
Can you guys remember a final where 2 free goals were awarded??
France is a mess riots now ,it’s all political that they, ptb allowed that shnook crooked ref in with a plan imo.Just look at who’s trashing all the Paris shops, they had a bigger plan .
Dalic was an improvement over others, and not a bad coach, but it seems we always compare coaches to other Hrvats, not to coaches in general. Did he ever make any really bold moves/major tactical switches this Cup? Because if he did, and Croatia won games because of that, then you can credit him for our success. Dalic was on auto-pilot. I think our guys won those matches, more-so than the coaching staff.
He also said at the end to the media that “the better team won,” which were the words of a sellout in my opinion…what could be a better way to deflect attention off himself and the staff and also disrespect our players. At the very least he should have criticized the VAR, poor reffing, etc. That’s what Bilic would do, cause he had balls and integrity. But every one of our coaches since want to be PC and protect their own butts. And that goes to my larger point; in corrupt countries (yes we are one of them), a foreign coach is always recommended. Hell, why do you think the African teams have done this?
We did well, but needed that extra 10% from the coaching staff, as always. If Cappello or Mourinho were the coach, we would have won today–simple as that. Guys referee fucked us bad… The
We we’re unlucky for once. Possession we had 60%. Crazy! Double the shots. Crazy! Own goal and VAR handball. If that doesn’t happen it’s 2-2 and both goals Suba made he barely moved. Could have done better. The better team did not win but that’s how soccer works some time. Still very proud.
Referee ducked the game…pathetic

It’s because the team does better when the coach’s sole responsibility is the team fulfilling their full potential and nothing else. Not what the media think, what his cut will be, what players he wants to sell for Mamic/Suker and whoever else, etc. Why did Pivaric take two penalties? Let’s find the easiest solution here for the Euros–get an excellent foreign coach with no connections to all the bs which the federation represents.

If Modric can stay on for another couple years, we would have a tremendous team.
We would still likely have our core players playing at a high level in Modric, Perisic and Rakitic.
We would probably be phasing out Subasic, Corluka, and maybe Mandzukic…but we have very capable replacements in Lovre Kalinic, Dejan Lovren and Andrej Kramaric or Ante Rebic taking their spots.
Add in a healthy Marko Pjaca…and more experience to guys like Rebic, Brozovic, Kramaric, Vrsaljko, Kovacic…and hopefully some of our youth players (Brekalo, Vlasic, Sosa, Krovinovic) develop further and give us additional depth.
Give Zlatko Dalic even more time to work with these players…it’s a recipe for success.
@Maminjo we can still win a Euro maybe even Euro 2020. Its not the end of the World Hungary lost 2 World Cup Finals and havent even made it to a World Cup since 1986. Spain won its first in 2010 France in 1998 it shows it takes time.France and Belgium will be favourites for Euro 2020 otherwise we have a big chance.
Will be interesting to see Rakitic take over the midfield Modric has a better work rate than Rakitic can go missing in games. So it will be Rakitic Kovacic Halilovic Coric after Euro 2020.Pirlo was still good until 34 and also Iniesta showed that at 34 you can still play in a World Cup and be efficient. Perisic is getting much love.
We are not comparing Subasic to Kalinic. Switching a first string for a second, no coach would do. We are comparing a deeply injured Subasic to a Kalinic…that’s a switch many coaches would make.

We will be senior citizens when we see Croatia in the World Cup Finals again.
Even the great teams (like Brazil and Argentina) make a Finals appearance every 20 years.
At least we’ve been there. Teams like Portugal never have.
“Many analysts have said that Croatia already won their World Cup that was against England”
This comment above is the loser mentality that we need to distance ourselves from.
We win our World Cup when we win the World Cup.
I can’t stand this suger coating about how good we did . Yes we did good but we blew a chance in a once in a lifetime. World Cup is every 4 years chance we will be in another final soon is slim to non. Today was our day. We should have been celebrating but we ended up watching those French africans instead. Im dissapointed and sad.
Halilovic and Coric need to play along with Kovacic Modric Rakitic in the midfield.Brekalo, Balic as well. Many analysts have said that Croatia already won their World Cup that was against England. 98 Team got 3rd 2018 team second so it is an achievement. No one talks about Mandzukics dumb header was weak.
Because you are Pizda Istina Truth Troll. That’s why.
3 x 120 minutes and the FIFA intervention finally strikes. Is FIFA even serious anymore with these tournaments? That was a Final, about 4 billion people just witnessed what happened in the first half, which led to what happened in the second half.
1. Dive = 1-0
2. Phantom penalty = 2-1
What more can you ask of our men, this game looked like Germany vs. Brazil, 2014 on the replay and they’re down? Croatia is a legendary team, fans need to step up and say enough is enough. It was probably the best tournament they put on, then they ruined it. The French fans afterwards were in muted celebration with long faces, they all know.
Ref decisions gave France 2 goals!
That dude was a former actor who wants the spot light.
Modrić will retire from the Vatreni. God bless him what he has had to endure with HNS.
Rakitic ?
Captain for a 2 year run?
Brozovic is ready and Kovačić right behind him.
My comments?
Why are you censoring
Modric looked dejected.
None of our players seemed celebratory for their second place achievement (which is a good thing).
While older generation Croats who were raised under Communist subordination would be happy that such a “small country” can place as high as second, this younger generation remained dissatisfied (which will lead to greater things long term).
Hopefully this means that Modric and Rakitic stick around to make a run at the Nations League and Euro 2020. I honestly think we can win one of those tournaments.

Peter Schmeichel gives a very good analysis of what happened.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5956203/World-Cup-final-VAR-penalty-sends-Twitter-meltdown.html
Dalic did a great job. -the coach can’t be criticized.
The problem that Croatia face as you saw today is the big countries get the game changing calls and the small countries don’t. Small countries have to win out right which is not easy to do.
Look when Manzukic was brought down in the box by the french player in the first half in today’s game-No VAR review.
When England was playing and the exact same play happened to Kane they got that call and a PK.
Argentina player heads the ball off his hand-no PK deemed unintentional. Croatia has something similar happen today and its a game changing PK.
When you give the ref the opportunity to make the big call against you and you’re a small country its going to happen every time-just like you saw today.
When these things happen to the big countries like in the Germany Sweden game where the Swedish player was brought down in the box on a break away and there was no call or VAR review it becomes obvious to any intelligent viewer that theirs an obvious double standard.
Peter Schmeichel does a great analysis

We’re several months away, but here are details regarding EURO 2020 qualifying. Pretty tough for the big boys of Europe to not make it. You can even qualify the ‘back door’ route via the Nations League.
Pretty good odds we’ll end up seeing a side the caliber of Latvia circa EURO 2004 get in as the Nations League will give atleast one of Europe’s ‘minnows’ a spot.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020_qualifying
about a year ago, i made a comment on this forum about how i liked the way Dalic was man-managing ppl, ie, putting his arm around them and getting deep and meaningful with them
obviously, we dont know what goes on behind closed doors but i always liked his body language.
I think we good.
Dalic a good coach, keep him on, maybe bring in Moro, Brekalo etc
we gonna be good, no need to be too sad guys. We got this – euro 2020.. We gonna do this ! : )
I would be surprised if Rakitić and Modrić retired now.
Modrić looked dejected. I think our players felt disgusted, and none of them seemed like they were happy finishing second (which is good). They have already proven that they are not like the communist-influenced peasants like older generation Croats are, who would be ecstatic finishing second place as a “small country”.
I think they’ll regroup and hopefully try and win that Nations League tournament that will be taking place in a couple months from now.
Somewhere in Croatia that yugo serb scum holiga is sleeping peacefully. I want to hear Slavonac’s take on the game as I respect his opinions. Where the fuck are ya Slavonac?
@Maminjo
Are Modric and Rakitic playing for us at Euro 2020, or are they retired?
Greizmann dive, Pogba offside and shove on Mandzu. A penalty for unintentional handball. WTF, Croatia was totally controlling the game.
https://www.rt.com/sport/433279-schmeichel-croatia-people-team-award/
Euro2020 qualifications begin in March 2019.
Hopefully Dalić can help us exorcize our June demon where we always seem to slow down during our qualifying games.
Hopefully our future players turn out good not like the 1999 Youth squad. Halilovic,Coric,Rog,Brekalo,Pasalic all to play with Kovacic Perisic. Modric and Rakitic need to mentor these players especially Halilovic and Coric. Modric and Rakitic will play Euro 2020 then most likely retire.
We still won silver our HNS has received plenty of prize money for finishing second, Modric won the Goldenball award which he greatly deserved some recognition for his performances work rate he did have 3 player of the games this tournament. We have won new fans around the World heads up decki Idemo za Euro 2020.
Heartbroken for my Dad and Croatia. We deserved a better fate… But the boys did us proud
I agree…let’s question the man who took a team that was a bit lost and that barely qualified for the World Cup to the final?
Ma sto je s tobom …
I just read an article before the final. It said that the Croatian national team for the last 8 years was a Ferrari without a driver. With Zlatko Dalic..this Ferrari now has a driver. Lets all slow down and.respect this great journey we have been on. It was powerful.
Rakitic played with his heart
Modric like usual
Perisic surely he had many chance and only produce 1 goal
Rebic with no pace (we didn’t see his snatch)
Strinic better than usual
Lovren, Vrsaljko, Vida with their daily routine
Subasic.. absolutely no impresive with low desire to jump!
Bye bye Subasic!!
Thanks to Modric, Rakitic could be a new leader
If someone has a good skill at dribling, ball control, scorring, then he has to be the first choice instead Perisic.. I will count on Halilovic
Dalic is fine and the players seem to genuinely like him. He is a players coach and is a half decent tactician unlike the TV repairman who the players did not respect and was lost with his tactics.
Dalic, he should be praised not criticized!
I knew there would be guys on here questioning Dalic if we lost, and there it is .you guys gotta be fucking kidding me
It sucks the way things unfolded towards the end today, but nothing to be ashamed about. The highs and lows over the past month, the arguing on this site, the tears and joy seeping through my veins. The only time Ive felt anything even close, was the summer of 98. And this year went above and beyond. I love all you assholes and dickheads on here. I consider you family. Its whats makes us proud Hrvati and am looking forward to this whatever uefa nations tournament is coming up. Bravo decki and we all should be proud to call ourselves a Hrvat!
Pull-oo-sick doesn’t even know how to pronounce his own prezime, and has said he never considered playing for anyone except the U.S.. Don’t know why we gave him citizenship.
I also don’t think he could (yet) make our starting team
We were the better team when all things were equal IN A WORLD CUP FINAL. And I am not counting after France bunkered, in which we still kept most of the possession, but expectedly so.
I come away a bit confused. Confused because our stars are getting older, but one can also say they are finally reaching their potential. I really don’t think we really need any upgrades other than at LB and goalie.
I also think we can forego the 4 back system. Vrsaljko has not regained consistent control of his crosses, and Strinic is Strinic. 3 more defensive oriented backs, still allows us to keep Modric upfield, but allows us to add Kramaric up top to help our finishing.
We can all say we need better finishing, but I truly believe Mandzukic’s intangibles outweigh his lack of striking prowess with his feet.
Had we gotten the lead on a flukey goal first, instead of France, I think the world would know who the better team actually was.
@Soul- Rebic at striker? The guy was incredible helping our backs by tracking down balls on the sideline. He needs to stay exactly where he is (switching between Left and Right wing, and winning balls back for us.)
That said,Rebic had an off game, as far as making his offensive opportunities count.
@ Maminjo- It is a 100% fair to question Subasic’s starting position, as we have many times in the run-up to this tournament. He was awesome in the first pk against Denmark, but we wouldn’t have needed that had he done his job in regulation.
He is wrong footed way too often, including during our qualifiers.
No reason for him to be drifting to his left on the Pogba goal. We had 3 defender’s taking away a shot to his left, zero defenders on his right.
On Mbappe’s goal, I do feel we got Pletikosa’d. The shot wasn’t even close to being side netting, from like 25 yards out. No other World Cup calibre goalie would be that far away from the ball.
The fix is not in. Geez Croatians LOVE conspiracy theories.
In a side note, boy did that Mamić do a good job this time!
The fix is not it. Geez Croatians LOVE conspiracy theories.
In a side note, boy did that Mamić do a good job this time!
Olmo is not capped. Before Spain gets him we gotta cap him. Get him naturalized now!
I just took a look again at that first goal France scored. And I must say Subasic was slow to react to that ball.
He barely jumped towards the ball. He did manage to swat at the ball, but it was as if he had cinderblock feet or something. He really shoulda gotten a hand on that.
And we dominated France for long spells. They only managed to complete 68% of their passes vs. our 83%.
Total passes/Accurate Passes = 285/194 (France)
Key passes = 5 for France
Total passes/Accurate Passes = 529/440 (Croatia)
Key passes = 11 for Croatia
According to Whoscored.com Match Centre.
So I feel the final score doesn’t really do us justice.
No they capped.
Why bother when the fix is always in for us?
Why bother ?
It’s taken me all day to finally post something. I’ve very disappointed that we couldn’t win today given how well we played. Shitty calls changed the complexion of the game
Yet we never seemed to give up. France was lucky today…
@ Soul Champ
100% agree with your comments. VAR and reffing was terrinle. That being said it’s important to blend some younger players with this team. I find we seem to be late bloomers. Our older players were beasts all tournament. Everyone had good and bad days throughout aside from Luka who really was brilliant throughout.
I really hope everyone stays for the Euro cycle. I can’t see Luka calling it quits internationally but you never know. For those talking about benching Suba today…really? What coach in the world would do that ?!? Suba just isn’t light on his feet. Today he either wore cement boots or was hurt. Kalinic moves way better and hopefully takes over as our no.1 keeper.
Also, even though the Strinic Pivaric combo was generally pretty good this tourney, I’m hoping Borna Sosa can develop quickly with his move to the Bundesliga.
Regardless budi ponosan momci….it was a great tournament!!
We can start capping all the talented Bošnjaci in BiH. Get a few Džekos, Pjanićs and Kolasinacs on the team.
They’d turn their backs on BiH in a heartbeat, lol
Thanks to Bilić we have Rakitić.
Thanks to Kovač we have Rebić
Thanks to Štimac we have Radošević
We need some foreign help. We capped halilovic let’s do the same with someone else. We almost home.
gets worse..look at the replay French player hand ball just before perisics handball ..so should have been free kick automatically and no var vid review..they can’t edit that out ..so total phony baloney hand the brass over to France…more fuel for France fake wc debacle.
Veliki Coban,
He generally picked a good formation and starting eleven.
You can’t be like Argentina’s Sampaioli and make constant changes to your lineup.
Dalić made a few errors (Picking headcase Kalinić and out of form Pjaca on the squad which limited our depth up front, putting Kramarić in the starting lineup behind the striker which didn’t work, subbing out Perišić very early a couple games, not subbing out Mandžo against Russia, not assessing Subašić’s fitness after the quarters)… But for the most part, he made the right calls.
We don’t need to do anything to get over the hump.
Mamić is going to jail, so according to most Croats our team should now get better, lol.
@‘Crotown
Being an American Hrvat .. I sometimes put Pulisic on the RW or behind Mandžukić.. could you imagine Pulisic off the bench attacking from through balls from Luka Modrić and Ivan Rakitic.
Business would have been taken care of in 90 min.
Klinsmann capped that boy ASAP.
He knew that his Croatian soul would have seen the light.
He carries crap as USMNT as a teenager to eventually lose to Trinidad and Tobago .. NO WC.
He just needed to play a focused role for us.
His pace and German precision in the final third is legit.
Jebi ga
I always said we should be aggressive in the diaspora recruiting.
Rakitic chose Croatian because slick talking Bilić rolled up on his house and presented a vision for him.
10 years later he is shooting in winning penalties and dismissing Messi and Argentina.
Viduka could helped us during our lean years.
But he is style wasn’t respected?
All he did was run your ass over and score goals.
Please do not tell me that “naturalized Brazilians” are more Croatian then the dijaspora.
We need to maximize our global power.
No Rakitic no run to the finals.
Hvala Slaven Bilić.
Players for the future
Rog
Pasalic
Brekalo
Krovinović
Haliloivc
Caleta Car
Kovacic(still young i guess)
I think Modric/Rakitic combo will still be playing for the Euros. Modric may not have the legs like he did this time but I still imagine he is playing at a top level.
We need to take a few days to enjoy the fact that we had an amazing run, and we made it to the final!
However… this still hurts at the moment. Somehow, I remember being overjoyed at 3rd in 98′, yet 2nd today hurts.
Still damned proud.
I’d much rather see Pjaca playing striker than Mandzukic.
Also glad it wasn’t Lovren that scored the own goal, and that it wasn’t Strinic on the handball, imagine the shit we’d be listening to now.
Veliki Coban- big dilemma- no quick answer but when you come this close – how do you get
Over the hump?? Better players ? Better coaching?
We went from a burnt out car to a Benz in a matter of months as fans- what next? I think it’s going to be a lot of debate and few answers for the next year-
Not saying that was needed today 100%, but if it was needed, I’m pretty sure our media and federation would always be an unnecessarily force on locals versus foreigners. I mean, heck, think about how many rights tourists have over locals in Croatia in the summer, haha 🙂
I still dont like the idea of having a Hrvat as a coach…because who knows what’s going on behind the scenes, and a hrvat will never have complete freedom to make tactical switches when possibly needed (Suba for Lovre, etc.). He may have wanted to change him out, but who knows what forces were pressing on him, namely our dumb media…equally at fault for making Suba out to be a god. Please dont kill me here, but I think it was more our raw talent and players that got us this far–not Dalic. I mean the dude did put out the same lineup since Argentina…not many changes since then.
Cap Olmo now! Next game get him fucking citizenship now. Not tomorrow Now! Two can play at this game. Screw that!!
Time to get some dispora on team- we need to open the floodgates and let the best players in- obviously citizens of Croatia – I don’t care where their from – if their better – then they play
Cant blame Subasic…he is not the coach. And it’s true, it is kinda scary to change your first goal keeper for the second string keeper under any and all circumstances–except for one case: injury. I cant confirm anything about the dude’s hamstring, but if it was injured and they picked him anyhow, then shame on Dalic for lacking courage to change him out. If Subasic did in fact have a messed up hamstring, the coach has to make an important decision; test him out thoroughly the day before, and make a decision. I’m hoping Dalic went through this process, but something tells me he didn’t, because if he subbed him out, and then we lost, he didn’t want to be blamed by our media, Suker, etc. He in fact made no changes to our line-up, because it was safe. And until now, it was effective. This is especially the case in the 2nd half.
Sime was a different case because he proved on the pitch he was not injured. Suba, god bless him, didn’t today. No flexibility on the right leg. I dont care if you got Buffon as GK, if he is injured then you take your second string–period. And Suba aint no Buffon. Check out the Brazil friendly, Denmark game error (1st early goal for Denmark), Russia, and the list continues throughout qualifying as well.
Ante Rebić should play striker.
Kramaric plays right off of him in a two striker set up.
RW – casting calls:
Halilovic
Vlašić
Brekalo
Dalić take your platform and create a juggernaut.
We need a player with some class at the striker position in my opinion.
@Susak
This isn’t a “told you so” moment.
This is me being pissed at an already shaky Subašić, being injured to the point where he is physically unable to jump, yet we still played him.
His inability to move cost us dearly. Dalić and Suba really should’ve known better.
Cant blame Subasic…he is not the coach. And it’s true, it is kinda scary to change your first goal keeper for the second string keeper under any and all circumstances–except for one case: injury. I cant confirm sh*t about the dude’s hamstring, but if it was injured and they picked him anyhow, then shame on Dalic for lacking courage to change him out. If Subasic did in fact have a f*cked up hamstring, the coach has to make an important decision; test him out thoroughly the day before, and make a decision.

@Bronk- to add to your observations of a and b
1st goal:
a)was offside by Pogba which naturally the commentators ignored during the game as well as VAR-
b)not to mention the foul that led to the free kick was a dive.
add c) Pogba actually fouls Mandzukic too. He pushes Mandzukic as Mandzukic is rising, causing Mandzukic to get an unclean head on it. Mandzukic ends up on ground from the push.
And I’m shooting at you Maminjo
Easy to say after. As much credibility as “the truth” step back and think about it
@ King Bronk
Thanks for breaking down the treachery.
I am not one for conspiracy theories .. but I knew that Argentine ref is no good for us.
The fact he took SO LONG to VAR it shows that he was not clear.
We had France all over the place and “king” Kante was subbed off to submission.
All good.
We showed the world how to play football.
Dalić had to roll with the veterans to get our ship going in the right direction.
I am curious to see how he runs things going forward?
He now has credibility.
I hope he opens up clear competition for all spots in the squad.
Generation for ever.
They had 6 shots all game. They scored on 4.
NBA centers don’t even score on percentages like that.
Suba was good on penalties, but this loss is entirely on him and Dalić for not stepping aside when injured.
Stop it. Wake the fuck up. At this point in the tournament, if you are asking for a backup goalie. Wake up
! Grow up. SRAM te bilo. You have no idea about anything when it comes to sports. We were the better team for 65 minutes and they made us pay the other 25. Swallow it and move on.
Agree with Bronk, as I said above…sad but true! #fixed
This Fix was In boys-what can I say the big country once again got the push over the little country and it took them over the line.
1st goal was offside by Pogba which naturally the commentators ignored during the game as well as VAR-not to mention the foul that led to the free kick was a dive.
2nd goal was a bogus Penalty call aided by VAR. The handball has to be deliberate. It was obvious to everyone it deflected off the french defender o Perisic’s hand while he was in the air.
The score should have been 1-0 going into half time.
France scored 2 goals on 1 shot in the half-how is that even possible? Anything is possible when the fix is in.
Great tournament Croatia!
^ Yep, that 4th goal wasn’t a howitzer by any means. I looked at a few times and from a couple angles and I can’t believe he couldn’t get over on it…unless he was still feeling the effects of his injury.
I can maybe give him a mulligan on the 3rd goal, seemed as if he was leaning/going the other way and maybe didn’t see it initially.
But, jeebus he looked pretty good on the Kane double save in the semi. Even though the 2nd shot that deflected off his knee and dinged thr post would not have counted.
Maybe he aggravated it on that specific sequence but played on. Who knows.
Bravo decki! We deseved to win!!!
They didn’t tear into us.
At no point did France dominate us.
Your keeper is expected to save at least one or two shots per game. Ours couldn’t save any.
Hugo Lloris saved an awesome shot from Rebić that would’ve been a surefire goal.
We made Mbappe look like a star with his weak bouncing goal going into the net. Goalkeepers are expected to save these kinds of long range weak goals.
Lots of positives! What a team! I can’t wait to see them at Euro 2020!
Subasic won one penalty shoot out really. Russia missed the mark and he had a lucky save on their two misses. After his injury he could not move. He was awful tonight. Indeed crotown we needed to score first and that was our strategy to open them up. But they got two goals in the first half from no effort. Too much luck and too much to overcome. In the second half Dalic should have changed tactic. We should have been more conservative and waited patiently for the equalizer. They knew we had to score and they tore into us when we exposed ourselves.
Croatia lacks a pacey striker which is a shame given the world class midfield. Probably wouldn’t have struggled in previous matches to extra time as well.
I dont.
Since the second half of the England game, Croatia has really played some of their best football
I thought Croatia played terrific in the final. They dominated the possession 66-34 and outshot them 14-7
The problem was simply any free kick or shot that France took went in. And any Croatian errors were penalized
But like i said all along, luck was likely to be the deciding factor
Good news is it seems Croatia has finally found some tactical clarity, at least against decent opposition which will be needed in league of nations
Modric and rakitic push up way high with mandzukic… Brozovic sweeps up the middle. And perisic and rebic drop back aggressively from the wings, essentially forming a 1-2-3-4…. Or nearly a 1-5-4
There is the question though of when it’s no longer the world cup, will the wings and brozovic still want to work that hard
We can all rejoice at this lightning strike of a tournament. Really enjoyed my time throughout it and in Russia.
The hrvati out there today were saddened after the game, but already by the evening you heard lijepa li si being sung on the streets as everyone reflected and rejoiced in the incredible journey it’s been
Pussyriot attacked Croatia for God’s sake. They hate Christ.
Modric beating mbappe to golden boot is small victory but victory nonetheless
He’s not gonna sub out Suba unless Suba says it’s ok after winning two pk shootouts morons. Don’t be fuckin idiots.
This game really was just like the 2014 World Cup opener versus Brazil.
Terrible reffing and two weak goals thanks to our goalkeeper wearing cement boots.
Dalic was good, but he REALLY should have subbed out Subasic after that Russia hamstring injury (especially since it’s debatable if Subasic is even better than Kalinic).
Would have been a great time to bring in a VERY in-form ‘Goalkeeper of the Year’ player in Lovre Kalinic.
Fak.
I like Subasic, but he really Pletikosa’d us.
What a beautiful journey! I am really sad, that Croatia didn’t win. Goodness they came so close, but must say that I am disappointed in today’s effort of Subasic. He could of done a lot better, and it would have resulted in a different ending.
We should all be proud of this team, no matter the outcome. We lost but we move on to the next tournament and use this as a stepping stone for the future.
Next up : Nations League and Euro 2020 !!
Looking forward to our next generation! :
Rog, Pasalic, Coric, Halilovic, Jedvaj, Pivaric even Kovacic, Kramaric … the list goes on …
Subasic then let in a goal immediate against Denmark on their first shot (under his body) and that game went to penalties. Thank God he can save penalties and we got by.
He made yet another error early in the Russia game (being way off his line for the Russia goal). He got injured late, and become even more incapable for the rest of the tournament.
Every shot on net from that moment on, was a goal. England and France pretty much scored on whatever decent shot went on net.
Subasic went untested in the Nigeria game but stunk badly in the Argentina game (remember?). He made multiple first half errors and people were getting nervous.
But we all forgot that because the Argentina goalkeeper was just as bad (and had an error result in a Rebic goal).
Kalinic played in the Iceland game, and we all forgot about Subasic once the knockout phase began.
We needed to score first and we didnt – you can only come back so much- ref or no ref- our luck ran out – manza own goal- Perisic hand ball- we weren’t sharp and we need to be-
Goalie saved us early and then he got cold- it was a house of cards that crashed – take the journey and build from it- we were a few boys short on the bench and we can be even stronger
Sad ajmo kuci
God bless our beloved Vatreni.
Dalić is a step up from stric Čačić and had a magical run to the finals.
But how do we play with tired legs to start the second half?
We have ran like dogs for 3 straight games and we leave a sub on the bench?
Forgive me but we needed fresh legs.
Ref was an idiot and doesn’t understand what it means to over turn his own call. His hand was in next to his body. Bang bang play. Weak penalty and after phantom dive by peder.
Kante ?? He is the best midfield stopper? Makele 2.0 and would be extremely limited without Pogba.
Happy for Modrić with the golden ball.
May he have another 2-4 years at a club of his choice.
Hope Rakitic is up for a 2 year run as captain of Croatia.
Perišić is WORLD-CLASS!!
Just put the money down and get my man at a mega club.
He has 4 more years at top flight. He is built like Ronaldo.
Mandžukić is. BEAST!!
Strinic had great final.
@ Svima
We played Croatian football from start to finish.
Soul champions !!
What do you mean anonymous?
Za Dom spremni =U=
Now we are Serbs who celebrate losing like at Kosovo.
I knew Suba was a problem after that Argentina game where he was struggling like crazy to make a decent pass under pressure.
Almost lost the ball to the opposing attacker several times. We were all going nuts at him.
But the Argentina goalkeeper was doing the same stuff on the other end, and Rebic managed to score off one of his errors…and we ended up winning 3-0 (which took attention off Subasic).

The next game was Iceland where Lovren Kalinic looked excellent, but we were all so happy at sweeping the group of death that we completely forgot how bad Subasic played in the Group Stage.

Then 2 minutes into the Denmark game, Suba lets one go under his body. Again, his superb penalty saves that game made us forget that major fault again.
Then he messed up in the Russia game on that first goal, got injured at the end of the game (which made him less capable), and every shot that was on target from that point until the rest of the tournament was an automatic goal.
The proper call was to sub him out right after that injury, and continue with Kalinic the rest of the way (especially if the difference in quality between your no.1 and no.2 keeper is debatable). The decision to keep an injured Subasic playing likely cost us our first World Cup.
If Subasic doesn’t make that initial save on Harry Kane from in close during the 1st half of the semi (Kane’s second shot if it went in would not have stood as it was offside) we are most likely not even having this discussion today about how h was subpar in the Final.
Yep, not a good performance by him, especially on the 4th goal but I still thought he had a decent tournament.
Naturulize Dani Olmo now!
Croatia played solid. The WAR room sorry VAR room did us in. End of story little bitches.
VAR is digital theocracy. We’re all gonna die in flames.
We got more power Coming don’t you worry mario.
Had Subadic stood still once on a goal I might understand but he did that over and over. We were badly prepared for set plays. Modric was at times poor on defence. Other than that I think we dominated much of the game and the referee had a huge impact.
Fix was in! Not much you can do when that happens…never a free kick, never a penalty….first half calls changed the course of the match.
Robbed. cheated. we deserved to win. but i’m very very proud of the team and of all us croatians. lets keep our head up moving forward. there will be more from us. we have set our standard
Mario, we never won…so we won’t be like Germany etc. We will come back stronger…they said we would never replicate France 98…we did better!
Or Mario you can build upon like France did after a crushing defeat to Portugal. You never know.
We can be positive but mark my words this is the high point of our football and when Modric and some of the older boys go we might miss some tournaments and or exit first round. It happens to all teams. Germany won last wc and crashed out this one. Im dissapointed that we had this opportunity and we didn’t cash in. We let the ultimate prize slip away.
Bless you boys! And thank you for a great run. It was fun. Unfortunately we fell a bit short perhaps to bad refereeing but that’s football. We gonna be ok in the Years to come. Trust me. We still in euro hunt in 2 years. Maybe a few new faces maybe not. But we will always be there. Look who didn’t even make world cup. Ie. Italy Holland etc. Be proud. ZDS!
Rumor is that the women who ran on the field were the anti-Putin punk band Pussy Riot
Soooooo close…but yet so far. Congrats to the boys for making us proud.
Toronto Croatia, the ref was a goof and a disaster….but Subasic was beyond horrible today.
And that would have been completely on us, not the referee. So got to see the glass as half-full here…
Let’s end on a positive note…we could have been knocked out by Denmark.
Thanks Lika Joey. And Razbijac I agree that we can make more magical runs in our lifetime.
The future of Croatian football is by no means dead ..we have some great talent up and coming (most of them currently midfielders as well)
Performances like these are also important because they inspire/motivate new generations of kids who now want to be the one to actually win it all for Hrvatsksa.
The team of 98 inspired all of these current players…so who knows what future talent has been inspired by this crop of players who came so close.
I agree about those French fans getting on field at just the right moment…how do they sneak by security, particularly when it seems like none of them were male and most were unathletic women–literally?
The time I first doubted Subasic oddly enough was off the field, after the England game when he interrupted and criticized Lovren who was doing an interview in English. “Sta govoris, years…fucking years.” He might have been joking, but he just struck me as a complete dumb-ass. And that’s fitting because only a complete dumb-ass would go into a WC final saying he is 100% when he clearly isn’t. He was pretty shitty…I’m sorry. Need to be intelligent when you are a goal-keeper. Listen to Schmichel talk, and you will understand why he is so good on the field. Need intelligence to read the game as a goalkeeper in open play.
Robbed. cheated. We deserved to win. Big time. but i’m very very proud of the team and of all us croatians. lets keep our head up moving forward. there will be more from us. we’ve set our standard
I am very saddened and disgusted by our loss. Our guys did great and in certain circumstances I believe got rid of some of the demons that have plagued them. Although we controlled possession and dominated the game we still lacked that quality to finish. Perhaps is was just bad luck we could not convert. I never thought the French were a great team. They are good and are talented but they beat the Germans at euro on similar circumstances And Argentina on set pieces and dir ct shots that just were lucky to go in.
The referee made some bad decisions and calls. That did not lose the game for us but it did alter the game in way. I was equally upset how we had the break away and all of sudden those fans just happened to run on the pitch, my deepest regret and anger was after he game the fake bais media went on to say how brilliant and superb this new French generation was and how many more trophies to come. As they closed the segment out, they mentioned that Croatia has some up and comers but thats a Cinderella story for another time. No respect for us. In There eyes this tournament was a fluke for us and one that will not be repeated. I hope Suker saw how far a good team can go and decided to start bringing in new blood in sooner rather than later. I also hope that Alan Hallivovic like LUKA at Real Madrid will find form in AC Milan and become a new star that can join the repka and take us far. Modrić And ratkic will not be around much longer Perisic will need a strong talented generation of players to join the team. We have some potential with the new kids. Let’s hope we can have a successful run at euro and not go out in the first round and turn back into being a joke. Let show people that this was not a fluke or luck and that our success is here to stay.
robbed. cheated. we deserved to win. but i’m very very proud of the team and of all us croatians. lets keep our head up moving forward. there will be more from us. we’ve set our standard
Like 2014 vs Brazil. Keeping and reffing.
First match all tourney they became issues.
Laku noc..
Subasic in this game looked exactly like Pletikosa did in 2014. Letting in goals that were within arms length.
As much as I would love to see the team try to make another run at the Euros. I think it is time for a few of the players to make way for the younger generation. If we are to continue to be a quality side, we need to start bringing in youth earlier and giving them a shot. Subasic has been great for PKs as most of you have said, but I think he should retire from the national team because by the next Euros he will most likely be past his best and we will have a similar situation to Pletikosa in 2014. Strinic played way better than any of us expected, but perhaps this should be his last tournament. Depends on how he does at Milan this season. Corluka should 100% be done. He’s never going to be the same after all those injuries. I love all three of these guys and if they aren’t ready to leave, that’s fine.
I don’t mean to post this hoping that they leave as they have all done us proud this tournament, but one of Croatia’s problems has always been looking to the future. Dalic did say that some younger players will play in the Nations League so we will see. Thank you Hrvatska for the exciting World Cup. Has been the highlight of my year. Idemo dalje!
Sigh, as per usual my posts are in moderation
sorry, guys, they’ll be availible in 10 years.
I won’t bother posting any comments now since they all go to moderation hell and sit there for 20 years
My dad’s 80 years old.
I mention this cos im sure a lot of guys about my age have parents that were refugees in various countries around the world – mostly USA, Canada and AUS.
And i just want to say it’s been a dream run to see what we did this tourney, im SO glad my dad saw this in his lifetime.
I never expected this – he’s now 80 years old.
And i didnt think – after ’98 – i didnt think we;d ever see that again in his lifetime but here we are. So happy and proud to be who we are atm! Really full of love for the team and the country atm! We should be so proud!
That was the best first 25 mins we played all tournament. Totally dominated France. Perisič & Raketič we’re playing extremely well. When Subasič let those goals in the players lost all confidence. Vida & lovren we’re outstanding.
Toronto Croatia,great post brother!
Subasic looked like a great goalkeeper this WC mostly because of how he handled those penalty shoot-outs. But that’s not the best indicator of a GK. Got to see his open play performance.
But f*ck me if I didn’t for a split second think we should replace him with Lovre when I saw Lovre make a few killer saves and general composure during Iceland. On free kicks and penalties, we all felt a little worried about Suba…let’s be honest, this whole tournament.
Croatia were the victims of Terrible Refereeing!
First goal wasn’t a free-kick. Greizmann dove in a dangerous position.
Second goal, the penalty, was very harsh. His hand WAS in a natural position, and he wasn’t trying to play the ball. This was the decisive goal that killed our momentum.
Pogba pulling down Mandzukic in the box wasn’t called.
Maminjo mentions Pavard’s hand ball, what minute was that in?
It’s like France was able to benefit from breaks from the Refs. I don’t recall us in the Knock out stage ever getting those kinda breaks from Refs.
And Subasic needed to at least dive on those two goals. While overall I’m greatful for what he has done in the World Cup. Given his age (34 this year), it’s time to bring in Lovre Kalinic as the starter.
While some are saying we will never have an opportunity like this, I don’t think we should be so pessimistic. I remember when people said in ’98 we will never make the Semis again, and look where we made it this year!
So I’m confident Croatia will make another magical run, perhaps even win something in our lifetime.
The English panel were making fun of Subasic. Saying that they felt bad for Croatia on the first two controversial calls, but you’d hope that your goalkeeper would at least make a save.
subasic fucked us big time this game, said he was 100%, clearly wasnt.
we dominated france in the first half as they couldnt get anything going. griezmann dive leads to an own goal, then idiot move by perisic to flail his arms in the penalty box. then paraplegic subasic sends us to our graves
Sorry but I’m really disappointed with Subasic performance in this game. I’ve always found him to be shakey…then he shut me up with his performance in the shootouts by making some great saves …
…but then during this game he reverted back to his old self. You can’t just not even move when a ball is shot. This is the world cup final ..at the very least he could dive and make it seem like he made an effort.
I honestly think that moving forward we need to replace him.
With that being said, definitely a great tournament overall for us. Great achievement to do one better than the team of 1998. Its just upsetting because opportunities like this dont come up often. We’ll all be 4 yrs older when the next world cup rolls around. It will be played in Qatar and during the winter months (so stupid …is everyone as excited for that?) It would be great flag waving in December huh?
Euro’s in 2 years.
You right Mr black.
Born in Croatia,I have lived in Toronto since 1974, there are no greater or perhaps more dedicated fans that believe the Maple Leafs will win the the Stanley Cup in hockey every year. They have not done so since 1967.
I know without doubt Hrvatska will be back contending in Euro and in the next World Cup.
Cheers guys… we are proud of you all !!!
I think we, and everyone else, had a little bit too high hopes for Subasic since he did so good in penalties. But as people said, his open play was 7/10 at best…and with that hamstring, it was a 5 probably today.
How can Subasič not enen attempt to dive fir any of those goals? WTF isn’t that whay he’s there for? Even the first free kick from France, no dive…just looks!
We outplayed France other than goaltending.
The best thing about rooting for Croatia is rooting for a team who LOOK LIKE US; as ‘Soul Champ’ says: “our DNA”, as opposed to a bunch of negros in french costumes.
@Mr. Black
I agree 100% and I could not watch the second half after that. The beautiful game is being used for prop-ganda. To man-pulate the masses. Look how great multic-lturalism is, etc. BTW 1998 was f-xed as well. ——- “Your comment is awaiting moderation” —– software plugins used to stifle dissent.
Our team look really sad i think they had a feeling and a fight till halftime. Its nice to get this far and a very big achievement but i feel like crying for being so close and losing the biggest game ever. That trophy should have been ours.
FIFA is the ‘old boys club, somewhat comparable to the G8 Nations, where only the Elite are welcome. Spain 1, England 1, now France with 2, Uruguay 2, Argentina 2, Italy 4, Germany 4, Brazil 5…
This game/sport is no better with technology. As a matter of fact it is a regression! There was no authentic happiness or celebration on the pitch. As soon as the governing bodies took to the stage to hand out tainted objects to the “winners”, it started to downpour on the parade as a sign of sadness from the Soccer Gods!
@Mr. Black
I agree 100% and I could not watch the second half after that. The beautiful game is being used for propaganda. To manipulate the masses. Look how great multiculturalism is, etc. BTW 1998 was fixed as well.
@Maminjo
You might be right…I forgot about that
Nah.
Lovre Kalinić wouldn’t have been off his line, and Russia wouldn’t score.
Not necessarily true.
Lovre probably doesn’t let the Russians score on him and we go thru anyway.
Look. I like Suba and his penalty-saving ability but I take an in-game goalkeeper any day of the week.
The referee was poor. The penalty a mistake. Dalic was too loyal to players. Subasic was just off, you could feel it . There was no tactical idea to handle the predictable French counter. I feel we lost to mercenaries. Very proud of Modric but not his best game. We should be proud. We played for style and beauty, they played just for victory.modric will win ballon dor. That being said I feel like crap.
Without Subasic, we would have lost the Quarter-Final. So he is important. However the guy was hurt today…couldn’t move well, and Lovre was straight up nasty in the Iceland match. He is also super tall, flexible, and fresh. I think he will be a star for us in the Euros
When Roy Keane comes out in support of us, you know the call is total B.S. 🙂
Subašić was awesome in penalties, but bad all tournament in open play. He was either poorly positioned or simply messed up on every goal (except for the Russian equalizer).
I hope this team remains intact for a run at the Euros (and maybe even win this first Nations League tournament).
I like Subašić, but we need to begin starting Lovre moving forward.
What do they English pundits have to say about the penalty(?):
Over on ITV, Lee Dixon criticised the VAR decision: “The referee has made a big error. It’s not a deliberate handball. In a thousand, million years that is not a penalty.”
Roy Keane agreed: “Football is a great game, best game in the world but that decision disgusts me. I am fuming. Disgraceful decision. That referee has never played football, I can guarantee it.” “Where’s the common sense? We’re not supposed to be talking about the referee. We’re supposed to be talking about the quality, the players. Instead we’re talking about this idiot!”
Ian Wright, however, saw the incident differently: “I’d want that. Yes, that is a penalty. I feel for Croatia, But if you see how many people are appealing for France you can tell how much they all think it’s a penalty.”
Former referee Mark Clattenburg did not see the penalty as a correct decision: “[Perisic’s] hands are in a natural position. No movement towards ball. No penalty.”
The FIFA fucked us.
our luck ran out.
if it was the other way around we would not be complaining about the referee decisions. it is tough because i really think those decisions were not called in a different game. in the biggest game in the next 4 years you need to be positive.
I hope the boys get a proper send off when they arrive back in Zagreb. They deserve it.
I think Subasic was injured/
@ Everyone who is blaming the refs and Subasic
Subasic is One of the reasons we even got to the final. And we can’t blame the refs. It was a handball by Perisic and France deserved the penalty kick. Anyone on this site that are blaming the refs wouldn’t say anything if it was reversed and we got a penalty kick by a handball like that. We should be proud That we got to the World Cup final as a country of 4 million people. Croatians all over the world should be proud and happy right now. No bitching allowed on this site about the Refs or SUBASIC. We should all be happy and proud.
Where is truth troll. Can’t wait to bomblast him if he shows up.
Very proud of this team. Legends, all of them.
First-off, put it in perspective, we did awesome. People from everywhere now know us…and many now believe the French were the inferior team. How many of us could say that would all happen, after losing to Brazil 2-0 in the friendlies just before the tournament?
The calls definitely were B.S…and everyone in the world knows it. Finally, the British pundits (plus Klinsmann) supported us and our way of playing soccer at half-time, and thought the game was handed over to the French from those calls.
That being said HOWEVER, Klinsmann did say something interesting though at half-time. He said that, however awful the calls, we “need to completely forget those two calls” and start afresh as if they didn’t happen.
We did awesome the whole tournament and had nerves of steel. But I think the one thing we need to continue to work on a touch more is those nerves. IMHO, we felt under too much pressure to score too early on in the second half and sacrificed some defensive composure. Needed to be a bit more composed and just continue playing in a calm fashion like the first half as if it was 0-0. Since the French could not cope with our runs the whole time anyhow, we needed to be 10% more conservative, have faith those runs would eventually lead to an equalizer, and just crack away at them.
It was a pleasure being here with you guys to watch this tournamet.
France is filled with Africans at least Croatia lost with all Croatia squad
We finished with a Silver Medal we came second still proud of the team although disappointed in the own goal and the penalty.Only 13 teams have only managed to make it to a World Cup Final we should still be proud. LUKA MODRIC WON THE GOLDEN BALL AWARD SO HE DESERVED IT AND HAPPY HIS HARDWORK HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED CONSIDERING HE PLAYED GREAT AND HE COVERED THE MOST GROUND.
I thought the first goal (from dive) was bs. The handball decision was the way they have been calling them all tournament long so it’s hard to say it wasn’t a pen. It’s unfortunate because those have really not been called in prior years (prior to var) when there is no intent. I think Subasic was just ok all tournament in open play, but great in the shootouts.
We had to chase the game for the whole 90 despite deserving to lead based on our play. I think chasing left us more vulnerable in the 2nd half which resulted in the 3rd and 4th goal. I would gladly change places and take the win if we had been outplayed, but playing so well takes some of the sting out of it for me.
Very sad because we may never get the opportunity again in our lifetimes, but happy that this group finally played the way they were capable and in my opinion was the best team on the day and of the tournament.
Proud of this team. They did great.
Okay, some things could have been better but I’m not gonna blame any of our players or our couch.
Some of you are now talking about starting other players but let’s not forget: the majority of posters on his site wanted Lovren, Mandzukic and Subasic not in the starting 11. Without them, we wouldn’t have made it to the final.
Only sad to see that the VAR and the referee failed big time. Now I hear that the Argentine ref today was the same moron who didn’t gave a red card to the Danish player who kicked down Rebic in extra time just before he would score.
I guess little countries like Croatia, the Netherlands or Belgium will never win the World Cup.
Anyway proud to be Croat. We didn’t win but we sure impressed.
Rakitic played with his heart
Modric like usual
Perisic surely he had many chance and only produce 1 goal
Rebic with no pace (we didn’t see his snatch)
Strinic better than usual
Lovren, Vrsaljko, Vida with their daily routine
Subasic.. absolutely no impresive with low desire to jump!
Bye bye Subasic!!
Thanks to Modric, Rakitic could be a new leader
If someone has a good skill at dribling, ball control, scorring, then he has to be the first choice instead Perisic.. I will count on Halilovic!@
Can’t wait to hear it. ‘Oh for a small country we already are so proud and nobody expected us in the final’!
Well guess what, Croatia still has won Nothing and hahahahahahhahahahahahababbahahahahabbab
@ Ziva Istina
I think the emotions are affecting your thinking.Pjaca has played once all tournament and barely all season after his injury return. Where would you start him.
He should not be anywhere near the starting 11.
no goalie is saving any of those. only one you can potentially argue is pogba goal, but it is clear he was being blocked and took a step to the right.
enough of this bullshit. we would not be here without Subasic and that is a fucking fact. Dont play the fucking blame game and keep our fucking heads up. the only reason I am sad is because we will be saying goodbye to many of our older heroes. I hope some stay around for the Euros. I think corlula is certainly gone, but maybe mandzu and modric have another tourny in them. We will see
Hindsight is 20/20!
It’s easy to say Subasic should not have started after the game! Why didn’t people say that before the game.
This was probable the best performance of any team in this tournament!
France was useless today!
I was super impressed by L. Kalinic and his goalkeeping versus Iceland. That dude would have gotten at least 1 of the last 2 goals…and maybe the free kick since he is such a tall and flexible SOB. He won goalie of the year last year as well somewhere…(Belgium league?)
Rewatch every goal that was scored on Croatia in open play during the tournament. Subasič does not even attempt to make the saves.
The last 2 French goals he just watched go in…no attempt to save.
Pjaca and Kramaric should have started.
Hamstring
both France gols in first half were BS calls.
i don’t want to bash subasic due to PK heroics, but why the fuck did he let so many go in without a stretch effort?
WTF.
Pavard handballed it too in similar fashion to Perišić.
You don’t call those.
This ref is getting a medal from FIFA for doing as he was told – ensure France “wins”. Before this tournament, I was a fan of Argentina. Now, after the Argentina game, where that dickhead kicked the ball at Rakitic’s head, the fans beating up the Croatian fan, and now this ref, Argentina is on the black list.
Dalić’s fault for not replacing an injured keeper.
Subašić did his best Pletikosa impression today.
This is Dalić’s fault for not replacing our goalkeeper. Subašić was probably still injured and couldn’t jump.
Subasič should not get a medal……let every shot just go in.
Second goal was clearly hand ball.
Painful to watch.
Not gonna celebrate this loss.
it’s like rain on your wedding day. godsend..i think we still got fucked ..gods crying because he knows we were duped by Judas.
Why do the refs get medals????
Luck ran out- we finally played our best game and got the worst result- like most sport Defense is the hardest to build and maintain- we had the ball most of the game but when France had it we looked super shaky- 4 goals on 5 shots- can’t win those- we may love these guys but soon we’ll be turning the page and new kids are coming-
Let’s hope we have a few dmen in the mix
The neutrals that I watched the game with all agreed, the Garbage ref changed the game. We were the better team.
Mr. Black. Well said my brother.
Subasic had cement boots on. He should not have played.
Good run just a touch too short. If we didn’t win the WC today we will never win it.
What a cheap france win. If I was french I wouldn’t be happy with that win at all! 2 free goals……….fuck off! Croats were way better than them, fucking shit.
Not only was it not a free it was also offside. Take a good look at where pogba was , clearly offside but still no var. We just h have to accept that we were never allowed to win.
But, gee our boys can hold their heads high!!! They were fantastic today, beaten by the system not the opposition.
Subasic was awful. Referee awful. We lost to a mercenary team that makes a largely segregated society fool themselves into happiness. Totally Proud of how we played!!!!
First half was pure refs fault.
0 shots on net, and two goals.
Second half is Dalić’s fault for sticking with an injured Subašić in net. Dude looked like he couldn’t push off that hamstring to even jump.
Subašić probably lied and said he was fine, just so he could play. Those latter two goals are completely his fault.
Perisic and Subasic X factor!
That I noticed it before..
From Hero become zero..
What a day ,(
Such a shame. We definiately could win. The first goal, that wasn’t a fault, not a free kick at all. The second goal wasn’t a penalty.
The Argentine ref was shit. I Giessen not only their players suck.
cro fans would’ve stormed the field ref in cahoots with var bias decision..fuck we can’t win with evil bias decisions every tourney it seems..it was a beautiful ride.
4 goals, wtf. they were a better team. perhaps they should NOT wear checkered ever again.
GOOD ANYWAY
Subasic just watches the ball go in….doesn’t even attempt to make a save. He ruined any chance of winning
We cooked. But what a run. Nothing to be ashamed about. Never forget it. We got rooked. Whatcha gonna do. I will sleep well tonight.
Subasic does not move he should replaced
Oh boy oh boy.
Team Croatia vs Team Cameroon, france doesn’t even have enough real frenchmen to make a soccer team? how embarrassing and pathetic, a sad day for france and its downfall.
We will win!
Serb ref would’ve never even called both shit calls that led to 2 phony goals this ref is like hitler..gods on our side game ain’t over yet.
It it ok . We can do it. . BBC says referee changed match totally with two bad calls. No sympathy for French.
Why didn’t var get involved earlier when Mandzo was held in the box?? Cos he’s not a crni French cunt!!!
Argentine ref
Was it MR Black who used to say the fix is in?
lol
this is utter bullshit
So one bullshit free kick call leads to their first goal
then a bs penalty call leads to their second goal
hmm, im noticing a trend here
Rigged big time people!!! This is robbery of the highest order.
I like how they don’t review Pavard’s handball
Wtffff bs foul call led to France goal fucking bullshit
God damn, that little runt Deschamps is so ugly, you just want to punch his ugly face until kingdom come…!
Ajmo, Hrvatska…!
Will Smith would be going for Africa United.
It could be 3:3 at Normal Time.
Let’s do it!!!!!
Let’s go!!!!! We got this!
You go it Iggy!
If we win this, it’s one of the greatest fairytales in sport ever.
I mean, im not just saying that cos im a Hrvat, i truly believe objectively this would be an astonishing win to go down in history for the little guys! Everyone could take inspiration from it!
Let’s show the world we are the best
Perisic is starting!
I think 2-1 we win! Let’s do this!
Just happy for all of us who went thru the ups & downs together. So many of us knew this was a possibility, and we now get a chance to see it all come together.
In the words of the great Dalic, just go out there and enjoy!
Iggy the first video is not available in my country, I’m in Canada. I liked seeing Lucy tear up though. By the way, you ever nail that bitch? HAHAHAHA!!
Lucy Zelic finally showing her Croat blood for a change!

Haha @ Mixed Grill yeah i tried taking a nap before the game (game is 1am here) but nah that aint working, too many nerves. So got up, had some coffee, time to have some drinks and watch the highlights of our path to the final now and good to go ! 😉
I live in an expat community and everyone wants us to win.
Watched the sunrise like Thanos.
Or is he into the sunsets?..
I’m on a solid 2 hours. Been up since 4:20!
Hard to sleep, hard to eat. What an experience. I have good feeling but who knows…
Almost there boys. Let’s go!! Didn’t sleep a frigging wink. Lol
@ Iggy, that Melbourne guy is awesome. I would never have the balls to that! HAHA.
Ajmo decki!!!
I noticed that the French team has a very high percentage of players who do not look like the wh-te Europeans who have inhabited that region for centuries. Am I a r-cist for noticing?
The genetics topic is a red herring used to establish a moral high ground by people who have an axe to grind. I believe it’s all about the culture. Hrvati love sports and if you do one thing long enough with passion and desire you can get very good at it.
That France bullshit about immigration article was already posted a thread or two ago and got the smackdown it thoroughly deserved
This Croatian dude in Melbourne painted his house for the occasion haha:

@Bobby V
“It has to be genetics – no doubt about it.”
So it really is Croatian genetics vs African genetics in this all European Final?
BZ said that Africans were upset when they called the SF’s an all European affair, would you say they have every right to be upset?

“Why the world needs France to win the World Cup”
Most of the world want France to win.
I’m interested in your opinion guys after reading that article, what sort of a person wants Croatia to win?
“The French team, perhaps more than any other at this tournament, embody the benefits of immigration in an increasingly isolationist world.”
Is Trump hoping Croatia win?
Would Democrats/Liberals be hoping France win?
I am from planet vegeta
Argentina in the 1990 World Cup after going to two straight penalty shoot outs lost the final to West Germany 1:0 but no one has more passion than our players. Now the media us saying we have played like an extra game because of the three ET Extra Times games who knows if fatigue will kick in or adrenaline for one moe game.
Goku are you from Japan or Turkey? Croatia 1 France 0.
@ Bobby V
Already 120 RSVP’d. I think it will be a better spot
@Bobby V
Event at Blackmoor Bar & Kitchen, 1 Chelsea St, Charlestown put together by New England Friends of Croatia. They had same viewing for CRO vs. ARG game. Fantastic Atmosphere…. We need limited number of Croats in Boston united my friend.
To quote Belgium: i’d rather lose with THIS Croatia than win with THAT France, which isn’t French in the slightest.
IZBORNIK Kengurovic your croatian grammar is worse than my toilet after i eat taco bell
Can’t beat the nice 5 piece cevapi that cost $15 dollars at the centar. best deal in town
Daleys Pub is the new spot. Alot of people went to studio square as well for the games. However studio square will be charging 50 dollars (i hear) tomorrow so alot of people wont be going there. That means they will go to Daleys and that shit will be more full than a freshman college girl on semen. I’ll be goin to the centar in manhattan
What is the new Croatian hangout in Astoria NY? Or is there any? Bohemian Beergarden?
Gab Marcotti ESPN FC journalist said Croatia is pound to pound one of the best sporting nations in the world across most sports.
*Carragher’s
If you’re in NY and need a last-min place to go on 39th btw 7/8. Ask for Boris and John party. This is it, adrenaline levels are already through the roof.
Boston Croatians – meeting at Lir on Boylston Street.
Croatia is smaller than 42 of the 50 states. It is smaller than West Virginia,
For a country that size and population (4.3 million) to qualify 5 times in 20 years and make it to the semi-finals (1998) and now the finals is amazing.
Look at us on the World map. Take a good look. Look at our neighbors then expand outward.
It is more than skill and certainly more than luck that such a small landmass produces such quality.
It has to be genetics – no doubt about it.
I did a check a few years ago on the four sports of football, basketball, water polo, and handball.
Croatia and Spain were the only two countries in the World ranked in the top 12.
This is more amazing than most of us are willing to think or look hard into.
Belgium got knocked out of Euro 2016 by Wales they are overrated.
Croatia did well but they have not “already won this World Cup”.
If we ever want to move forward, we need to drop this weak small country mentality.
Belgium isn’t content having won third, and that was their greatest ever achievement (just like this finals appearance for us).
We win, great. We lose… We accept it, but none of this “2nd place is our First place” bullshit.
Bangladesh,Botswana,Papa New Guinea to su sve neke jadne drzave siromasne sirotinja. Jadnici druga rasa druga klasa.
Win or lose it’s a massive celebration and we should all party hard and enjoy this monumental achievement!
There are people on the FB group posting pics of themselves in HRV jerseys from Bangladesh, Botswana, Papua New Guinea etc!
That’s how far and wide the support has come and how many ppl this team has won over – truly something to behold.
AFter ’98 i saw so many Asians wearing our national jersey around town, i think it’s gonna be even more now hehe!
AJMO !
Can’t have a shaky and nervous first half against France. Otherwise, I think we got this.
Kako dobro Peršić radi kako ide Hrvatska. Bog ga blagoslovio.
Let’s do this
