Inter Milan’s final training before taking on Hajduk Split on Thursday night
Hajduk’s young guns aim to write their own page in the club’s century-old history today as the Bijeli take on Serie A giants Inter in the first leg of the Europa League’s third qualifying round in front of a sold-out Poljud stadion.
Buoyed by the fervent support of 35,000 fans, and thousands of other Splicani who were unable to get their hands on a prized ticket, Mišo Krstičević’s young squad enter the game with a carefree, “nothing-to-lose” attitude and the belief the 2010 European Champions can be beaten.
The Nerazzuri have only recently begun their preparations for the coming season, while Hajduk has already played four meaningful matches. At the same time, Inter is in the middle of a painful overhaul, having already parted ways with aging veterans such as Lucio and Diego Forlan. Many more players from the club’s recent glory days, including defender Maicon and goalkeeper Julio Cesar, are also said to be on their way out of Milan.
No doubt echoing the sentiment of the entire squad, Hajduk ace Ante Vukušić has called today’s game the biggest of his career. Vukušić is the owner of the most memorable goal in Hajduk’s recent history – a last minute winner against Anderlecht in the club’s 2010 Europa League campaign.
Vukušić’s clinical finish in game one of Hajduk’s two-game tie against Latvia’s Skonto also paved the way for Hajduk to advance to the tournament’s third qualifying round.
Hajduk press conference
Needless to say, legions of Hajduk fans around the world are hoping Vukušić can generate one more memorable moment for the storied club.
What are your thoughts CroatianSports.com nation?
Will the diehard support of the Split faithful be enough to propel this young Hajduk squad to victory against the heavily favoured Italians?
What team will Valentina be cheering for?
I would love to see Livaja get into this just to hear the crowd’s reaction.
How can we keep up with the game ?
Livaja’s on the bench for Inter..
No changes to the starting 11 we saw against Split.

Anybody know if the game is televised anywhere in Canada? USA?

My buddy is watching it in Mississauga, but of course he has the HRT feed. I suspect Monaghan’s in Oakville will have it if you are in area!
Livaja should be getting about 15 – 20 minutes of playing time according to his mom.

Livaja, from what I heard, is part of the squad traveling to Split.
Does anyone know if Marko livaja made the trip?

just for one day 😉
Welcome aboard Armada!
I really hope Hajduk shows up and gives Inter a good two games. I’ll tune in today and be rooting along with the rest of you nutty Hajduk fans and Dalmatinci. I hope Torcida is loud and proud and the boys make a game out of it. Plus, aside from Milan and Udinese, I fucking hate most Italian teams 🙂
So for one day only….
NAPRID BILIIIIIIIIIIIII
😀
I am an Inter fan but here I am Hajduk all the way. Never will I support a foreign team ( eventhough Inter is not an Italian team)
over Croatia. Eventhough it gives me a burning sensation akin to a kidney stone I will pull for Dynamo against foreign teams.
Even if you’re a dinamovac, you’d rather support an Italian team than Croatian one?!?…..to ti je prava sramota mark!
can help but laugh at all u dilusional hayduk fans, inters gonna rip u a new arsehole Its gonna be a sramota
Naprid Bili!!!!!!!!
Tiny chance of us winning but will be so huge if we pull it off!
Got to believe- come on boys, come on Torcida!
Naprid Bili . Lets kick some Italian ass
Hajduk would have drawn a large crowd regardless of the opponent. They drew over 25K for a garbage team from Latvia nobody ever heard of. If god really loved hajduk he would have sent them another garbage team allowing them to advance into the uefa league and generate more cash. All god is doing right now is playing around with hajduk, kind of like what dinamo does to hajduk year after year.
sad se vidi da Bog voli Hajduka. no money and from the heavens we are given inter. idemo bila dica!
If Hajduk doesn’t lose by more than 2 goals, that will be an accomplishment.
They need to make sure that they do not allow Inter to get an away goal. Even if they tie 0-0, that could be a huge confidence boost going into the second leg. They have to play Inter strong defensively and not make stupid decisions
Best of luck, Hajduk!
