Dinamo Zagreb already booked their spot in the Europa League playoff round after be ousted by Danish club Aalborg 2-1 (aggregate) in Champions League qualifying. On Thursday, the other three HNL clubs playing in Europe joined them.
Hajduk Split defeated Kazakh club Shakhter Karagandy after a disastrous 4-2 first leg away defeat last week. Hajduk played in front of a boisterous Poljud where Torcida was on their A game. Tino Susic opened up the scoring in the 13th minute when his shot from the top of the penalty box was slightly deflected before heading into the back of the net. Anton Maglica would make it 2-0 in the 36th minute and Sandro Gotal scored on a 4-on-1 break in injury time to cap the 3-0 victory. It’s not just a win for Hajduk, but a huge morale boost in this young season.
After a 5-1 victory away to Vikingur last week, Rijeka showed more of the same dominance at Kantrida Thursday night with a 4-0 win over the Faroe Island club. Rijeka drew debatably the weakest team in the third qualifying round. They defeated Bundesliga club Stuttgart last year in the playoff round to make the Europa League group stage. Let’s see how the draw treats them on Friday.
Rnk Split shocked Ukrainian club Chornomorets Odesa last week in Split with a 2-0 victory. A week later, they held their own on the road and forced a scoreless match to see them go through to the playoff round. It’s the farthest the club has been in European competition.
@ Armada 87532678965 , Nemoi Pizdidi ! Good Luck my Freind ! B b q is Raging ! Hajduk 4 Life !!

Ante B , please b Good ! Stop your hatered & crap ! Bog i Nasi !!
I’ve been to Split at least three times as a Dinamo fan. For me personally, no big deal. And it’s good that that is “your” Dinamo. The one in real life is much different. But I’ll let the other Hajduk fans on here finish you off. Ugodan vikend!
Full stadium, must be photo shopped.come down to Split where the real fans are,win or lose the love remains.all the money, fake trophys, communist name, match fixing, that to me is your dynamo. It is a team only by definition.Might as well cheer for a corpse.
Win or lose, especially when we lose, true Hajduk fans love the team even more. These guys on here that put down the team are no fans at all, just leftover Yugo self hating Croatians.
Also, don’t steal the ponos Hrvatske motto. Already taken:
http://www.inet.hr/~savojnik/dinamo-dinamo270803.1.jpg
No stats are needed? You guys are starting to sound like serb revisionists. You do realize that there are teams older than Hajduk that are currently playing? Hell, I can think of at least 3 right now.
.no stats are needed.Hajduk will always be the first and only Croatian team, loved by all.Ponos Hrvatske!!!
hahaha….a jesmo kreteni…nismo nikada zadovoljni!
Honestly, I was hoping for a bigger meltdown after the World Cup.
He, like most people, probably lost it with the whole Pranjić obsession. Even though Vuki sucks, you could at least justify playing him. I’m glad he criticized Kovač. It was much deserved.
Croatia vs. Antwerp – hahaha…ooops…
I’m a little confused as to why he openly criticized Kovac at this point in his career, when he is getting little playing time at club level and did little for the NT over the past 18 months?
@ Slavonac.
I’d appreciate it if ya left Vukojevic outta this. He’s got more heart than most players on Repka. Besides he retired, show some respect will ya.
I know you understand more than the basic guy…my issue is you should stick to those that deserve it. Mandzukic does a lot of good…go after “bucktoothed” Vukojevic, “pidgeon toes” Jelavic, “chessesburger” Kranjcar, “red light” Pletikosa, “twinkle toes” Pranjic….
a joke doesn’t mean criticism, it just means it is a joke. The fun part of Mandza is that he scores tap-in goals (now, I know there is a skill in being in the right spot, right time and being able to finish in the air).
its a joke ok, sometimes the jokes are targeted to the only credible players we have…I can accept a Kranjcar joke here and there but Mandzukic doesn’t deserve this criticism.
Yeah everyone and their mother scouts these days. Plus ya got YouTube and Daily Motion videos. 🙂
it was a joke.
@Marko……those two haven’t played for jadan, mali i nemocan hajduk in a long, long time. Plus, every team knows the type of style their opponent will play in today’s age. Everyone scouts.
Ziva-“By the way, I saw the highlight of Bayern’s goal. I think the distance of Lewandowski’s goal was the combined distance of all of Mandza’s goals.”
you obviously have an issue with most Croatians!
@Armada87 – Nice thinking. It seems that Dnipro might have played their last “home” leg against Copenhagen in Kiev, as opposed to Dnipropetrovsk.
Apparently some of the Dnipro ultras have volunteered to fight for the UA government side against the Russians, to help free their country. Sounds very similar to what some of the BBB and Torcida did for Croatia back in the early 90s.
It will be interesting to see how Kalinic and Bartulovic will do for Dnipro. Both of them are ex-Hajduk so they will know how the bili will play.
@ Marko
not sure Dnipro would get a home game depending on whats going on in Ukraine? Dnipropetrovsk is right next to Donetsk, which is still in the middle of all the shit going on there… Maybe they would have to play at a neutral venue, which would be big for Hajduk.
Here’s hoping that Hajduk, Rijeka and Dinamo all make it through.
It’s going to be tough for Hajduk against Dnipro however – the Ukrainian league is one of the most competitive in Europe and it’s not short of money. Dnipro also have strong ultra fan support for their matches so once again it looks like the away leg might be the problem for our Hajduk.
I can’t see Komunisticki doing anything much against Torino.
it would be great if Rijeka, Dinamo and Hajduk all make it somehow… There is only so many HNL games I can watch before changing the channel to Bravo or E!
Dinamo and Rijeka should progress. Rijeka may not be the seed, but Sherrif is not a good team and Matjaž Kek has Rijeka playing very disciplined football.
I’m very interested in watching the RNK Split vs. Torino game. I think that can be a good match. Torino are favourites, but I could see RNK Split playing them well and surprising them.
Hajduk has it the toughest and will probably be knocked out. If Hajduk was playing more consistently, then they may have a chance. Hopefully this big victory against Shakhtar Karagendy will start a hot streak for them, because they’ll need it.
manageable draw for everyone…. think Split have it the hardest with Dnipro
Petrolul beat a Victoria Plzen who has made CL consistently the last few years. I was really surprised by Hajduk in that leg in Poljub. Complete 180 from the first game.
Rijeka draw a Sherrif who lost to Dinamo in Europe a few years back… Sherrif lost to Slovan Bratislava in CL Quals. Personally, I feel like Rijeka could beat a Czech/Slovak team, so I like our chances vs. Sherrif.
Don’t see Split advancing past Torino at all, but I will be pulling for Split since I love seeing Croatian teams beat any Italian teams…
Forgot. Split vs Torino
Petrolul vs Dinamo
Dnipro vs Hajduk
Rijeka vs Sheriff
Games 21st and 28th.
Aussie Kreso-Dont worry ,there will still be festivities upstairs in the main house hosted by yours truly.Unfortunately my boy has not been well today, just moping around the basement all day, playing X-box in his Ninja Turtle PJs .I hate to see him like this, all jadan i nemocan.
i read through all of these waiting for a Cico post… damn nothing yet
he must have passed out from all the excitement
Pa nemoj Tata!
Jadan, mali i nemocan Ziva has asked me to advise that tonights basement festivities have been cancelled till further notice.
Thank you.
Tata.
Beautiful !! Naprid Nasi ! Hajduk 4 Life !!!
Just realized Shakhter has 3 Bosnians, 1 Serb and Nikola Pokrivac on their squad.
Also, found this on their website –
Shakhter sacrifice a sheep the day before matches, as a tradition. This has led the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to petition UEFA President Michel Platini for a ban on animal slaughter in European football
At least Hajduk saved a few more of them by winning today.
For those of you with a TV……..Federer and Doper Cilic are playing now. Very entertaining match so far. First set in a tiebreaker won by Federer.
I thought Pep acted like a fool, but hen I saw the fouls committed. This was a friendly and some of those fouls were over the top. I got no issue wih a coach sticking up for his players. By the way, I saw the highlight of Bayern’s goal. I think the distance of Lewandowski’s goal was the combined distance of all of Mandza’s goals.
None of the top soccer nations I. Europe had four teams in the qualifying rounds. The minnow nations did. Congrats to the HNL for getting all four this far, but I’ll wait to think this is a big deal until we see how many actually make the group stage.
What I will enjoy is how HRT decides to broadcast the matches with all four teams playing. I know they got a ton of shit for the earlier round matches.
@Slavonac from Canada
Pep’s definitely a goof, but I would’ve been steamed about those tackles too. Osvaldo Alonso and Will Johnson’s tackles were way out of line.
I don’t think they should have even made the team. 2 years ago, sure, but not any more.
Pedro Morales is twice the player and should have had one of their All-Star spots.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXp9SxPvwEA
Enjoy the Hajduk highlights! Where’s my main man Cico?!
Sorry, losing combined record. Hajduk has more wins against CZ but almost double the losses against Partizan.
Could you statistically evaluate what you mean by Hajduk owning Serbian clubs? From my count, Hajduk has less championships, kups, and a losing record against CZ and Partizan.
Naš Dragi Hajduk
That said, forza Hajduk Split.
Not to mention that Torcida is the original Croatian nationalist supporters group. Even today they paid tribute to OLUJA and all that fell for a free Croatia. As they have done traditionally.
When “Zovi, samo zovi” and “Marjane, Marjane” rings from the rafters, as they did today – nothing else needs to be said…
Naš Dragi Hajduk.
Hajduk is the only Croatian club in european contention (1911).
Rooting for Rijeka is tantamount to rooting for RSB.
Dinamo is supported only in exteme situations.
Even while Hajduk was controlled by Yugo-communist usurpers, it was the THE only Croatian club to own the Serbs and Belgrade.
@Croatia vs. Antwerp,
I agree, this is an accomplishment for Croatian football. Hopefully, we can get 2 to qualify for group stage. A friendly draw and we’re good.
shit, Hajduk Partizan would be something. Bring back old times.
@Tiha Vala,
I’m with you, I don’t get all the hate. I support Split against just about anyone.
@Milan,
I agree. Svi svi svi za Hajduk 🙂
@Slavonac,
Yes, I watched this last night. Pep Guardiola is a clown and will always be a clown. Now that Super Mario is gone, I root against Bayern like most of Germany.
@ Ziva
The Europa League might be watered down. But how many nations sent 4 clubs to the play-off round?
With a quick glance at the play-off group, I see Holland as the only other nation to send 4 teams to the play-offs.
This is an accomplishment for Croatian football.
Awesome atmosphere at Poljud tonight, that’s something that you won’t see in Maksimir.
I can gurantee jokes about Poljud’s drainage system / how shitty Hajduk is, etc following this.
Ziva and friends are all confused. RNK Split doesn’t have commie roots. Uzmite malo povijest pa ce te vidit. Split je Kraljevski klub. Look at how the clubs were treated at the height of Yugolavia through 50s and 60s…it wasn’t until the mid 70s when Hajduk as a club and its supporters started rebelling against the commie Yugo establishment. Dalmatinac and Split were never supported by the Commies.
-Hajduk supporter
Milane,
I am in full agreement with you brate. Dinamo all the way but if Hajduk or Rijeka draw Partizan, I will support them 110%. Them being Hajduk or Rijeka. We’ve already had Dinamo slaughter Partizan, now it’s time for someone else.
Dos’o je i taj dan, umro je Partizan
@Ivica
some good say the same thing if partizan draws hajduk 🙂
@ARMADA
What if Rijeka were to draw Partizan?
It would be like a home game in BOTH legs for Partizan.
😉
Look like some of the easier draws for Hajduk/Rijeka/Split will be:
-Rio Ave (Portugal)
-Maccabi
-Celtic
-Sparta Prague
-FC Sheriff
-Partizan
and then you have your Lyon’s, Inter’s, Tottenham’s and Villareal’s that would just embarrass are teams…
BTW – I saw a few minutes of the Bayern game last night and then today saw highlites of Pep Guardiola displaying his usual arrogance and cheap, low class attitude after the game…apparently a couple of the MLS players went in hard on tackles…nevertheless, the douche bag arrogant cocksucker took it out on the coaches and refused to shake their hands….low class cock biter!!!
@Ziva, agree it is watered down but for our teams to make it would be nice.
Re: Hull today, poor Jelavic did not even see the field, not sure if he was injured or even in the line up.
Hopefully Hajduk is drawn with Hull City in the next round then.
@Adame…..I follow them all. From Dinamo to Osijek and up and down the coast from Istra, Riejka, Bjezigrad and jadan, mali i nemocan hajduk. I root for hajduk in case you were wondering.
It is nice we have four teams still alive, but lets also be a bit realistic and realize that is due to the expansion of the Europa League. It is a watered down competition. that said, even making the group stages would be a great accomplishment for any Cro club.
@Denis
I am a Dinamo fan but if Hajduk gets Partizan I will be the biggest Hajdukovac and cheer for a victory.
My preference to go through is Dinamo, Rijeka and Hajduk. it would good to see some Croatian clubs playing in something aside from the Prva Liga.
close one in Kantrida for those not watching…
4-0 Rijeka. Should wrap up in a few minutes now.
our 4th choice Makedonac forward Jahovic with a hat trick
@ Svircic
if Hajduk draw Partizan, no way would they allow away fans for either game.
As always, great analysis Denis!
@Milan,
I would be happy with two teams in Europa. Hajduk, Rijeka and Split will be a heavy underdog.
How about Hajduk vs. Partizan? 3.3% chance of happening.
I think this is the 1st time we had 4 teams in the Europa League play-off round. It’s a good day for Croatian Football.
Now if all 4 made it through, heck, that would be sometin’.
damn Hull City scored a late goal. Hajduk won’t be a seed as a result. Hajduk needed a couple of results to go their way and Hull City was one of them. Oh well. Playoffs won’t be easy for Rijeka, Hajduk, and Split. Dinamo should have enough in the tank to beat an unseeded playoff side.
Interesting, we could have four Croatian teams in the europa league at the same time.
@ Croatia vs. Antwerp
you’re right. all our teams would get seperated.
1-0 Rijeka in the 2nd half now.
Is it just me but anyone else finds Ziva’s statement about STD’s being an injury to deflect jock sniffing being absolutely ridiculous?? FYI Ziva – a simple shot or a weeks worth a pills with no down time is the typical course of an STD.
I don’t think you can have teams from the same nation play each other in the play-off round.
Hats off to Hajduk. Had to eat my words on the prediction.
@ Peter North
Think the only seeded team would be Dinamo.
My god… Hajduk vs. Rijeka to make it into the Groups? That would be something to see.
Yes! Bravo Hajduk! Ye of little faith – I never doubted ‘em for a moment (tongue firmly planted in cheek).
Ziva is the biggest Hajdukovac known to man.
Ziva
What HNL team, if any, do you follow?
Depending on how seeding/ co-efficient ranking goes I suppose it would be possible for Croatian teams to be paired versus each other in the next round.
I believe Dinamo will be seeded. Surely Rijeka and Rnk will not be. Hajduk, not sure either way.
@Adame……not true. Just when I have thought about pulling back from the website, the other posters keep saying they want me around. So, who am I to disappoint.
damn, they did it….3-0
3-0!!!!!!!
no know cares about your pessimism Ziva, take it else where.
I’m still expecting my beloved jadan, mali i nemocan hajduk to screw this up in the final minute.
ajmo hajduk almost there.
Don’t give him any ideas. Kum Kovac is at the game.
How is Hajduk playing?
Has Igor Tudor redeemed himself?
Or will he pull a Kovač and sub in Tonči Gabrić for the final 20 minutes of the match?
goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Rnk Split play 0-0. They eliminated Odessa from Ukraine.
Susic made it 1-0 against Borat Fc. Only one goal to go.
RNK pulls it off. Hajduk is a goal away.
Rnk Split play 0-0. They eliminated Odessa from Ukraine.
Susic made it 1-0 against Borat United. Only one goal to go.
If Ziva’s sources/research is as correct as he says it is, then there are far more STDs on Corluka than RNK fans.
Hajduk is up early btw. http://sportska-tv.in/flash/2.html
it has to be reported on. Injuries impact player performance.
Stop “cock sniffing” Corluka’s STD history. It’s overplayed.
Nikola Pokrivac plays with Hajduk’s opponent, Borat FC… Jeebus.
How did he ever manage to win one cap for Croatia, let alone 15.
@Colin…….for sure more of my posts. There are no fans of RNK Split. But, to be fair, not as many posts as the amount of STDs Corluka has distributed and received over the years.
@Mr. Black
Yea, but Marko Rog is the only young player who gets any playing time on RNK. This team really just relies on veterans like Bilić, Dujmović, Belle, and Roce.
I’d much rather Hajduk advances as the majority of their squad are youngsters who could develop with the added experience of Europa League play.
If both advance, then great. But if I had to choose, it would be Hajduk simply because of the youth movement. Plus, it gives our boy Tudor some added coaching experience, as he will probably be next in line for the “recent former player becomes coach” formula we have for our National Team selection process. Then again, he might have too much experience already.
Those Ukrainians are running the match right now. I’d be surprised if Split hangs on. Doesn’t look promising.
Question: What is there more of? Fans of RNKomunisticki Split or the amount of times Ziva posts a question similar to this one?
For those interested, here’s a link http://sportska-tv.in/flash/6.html I hope they can hold on. Need all the Cro teams in Europe as we can get.
Doc, Link for the Hajduk game will come later. It’s not on until later this afternoon.
Links for today’s Hajduk match will be appreciated.
Hvala lijepa.
I’d love to see RNK Split advance. Young players would get the chance to improve during some new international games. Besides, do you really think that the players play for RNK Split are communists? We should keep an eye on midfielder Marko Rog. They say he could be the next Ante Rebic.
I’d be surprised if 200 people really did turn out for that. Either the figures have been inflated or else 197 of them must have been tricked at the gates into thinking they were going to watch a Dinamo match.
haha answered my own question
here are the stats from a Loko-RNK game last year…
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nk-lokomotiva-zagreb-rnk-split/index/spielbericht/2222929
Attendance: 200
next question – what does 200 people look like in Maksimir? pretty depressing I suppose?
oh I completely agree about RNK Split and there background and fan base… Who can really get behind a club with clear commie roots. But hey at this point, with Hajduk most likely out and Dinamo probably not giving a crap now that they are in the Europa Liga, we need all the coefficient points we can get…
You know what would be an “exciting” fan atmosphere?
a Prva Liga match between RNK Split and Lokomotiva… What’s the attendance look like for that game? 50? maybe 100?
@Armada87 – I’m torn here. Part of me wants Komunisticki Split to win so that we have another CRO club in the Europa League, whilst part of me wants Komunisticki to get tonked by Odessa tonight because they’re komunisticki.
Either way, I can’t get excited about them and nor can most people in Dalmatia from what I can see.
I want RNk Split to lose more than anything. Commie club from back in the day with basically no fan base. What is the point of them advancing. Nobody cares enough to watch.
Tough to see my beloved jadan, mali i nemocan hajduk going 90 minutes without another defensive meltdown. The goals they gave up last week were terrible.
I unfortunately don’t see Hajduk progressing… not enough firepower really to make up the goal differential. I can see them winning, but not winning by enough.
Rijeka all but locked up there playoff berth. We should just let our bench take care of business tonight and hopefully our luck continues and we don’t draw a powerhouse in the playoffs
I actually think Komunisticki Split will park the bus and somehow squeeze out a 1-1, 0-0 tie and progress.
Agreed, Hajduk still might get through if they take home advantage at Poljud tonight after a tough gig playing 5,000km away in Kazakhstan last time around.
Rijeka have really lucked out for this draw – facing perhaps the weakest team remaining at this stage in the Europa League qualification rounds. Even my beloved Hajduk might just about have a chance of beating Vikingur across both legs.
Predictions: Rijeka to go through 10-1 on aggregate, Hajduk to squeak through 3-1 tonight, and the communists to crash out to Odessa.
#molizahajduk
I’m with Bob
I still think Hajduk has a chance.
