Two weeks ago, Alen Halilović was criticized by some for his poor attitude when being substituted from a match in the first half in order to replace his goalkeeper following a red card.
This week the 18 year-old Croatian prospect is being praised for his play for Barcelona B. Halilović can easily be compared to Dutchman Arjen Robben with his quick dribbling on the right flank which precedes a quick cut to the center of a pitch with a mighty left-footed shot on goal to follow.
If he can master this skill, not only would Barcelona’s senior squad require his services as early as next season, but Niko Kovač could start implementing Halilović in his team for the last four Euro 2016 qualifying matches in September and October.
Does Halilović have the potential to become a world class player within the Barcelona/Croatia system?
Halilović dribble and shot off the post this past Saturday
Stevanović of the FARE organization based in Rijeka is the cause of this mess.
To be fair, Croats are to blame themselves for allowing subversive elements within the country to run amok. And they’ve been doing it since 1999.
So, it was just for saying “Za Dom Spremni”?
FULL stadium closure for a chant?
Anyone surprised? Really though.
Bravo Suker, really played the fans and Brbic like a fiddle.
You know what makes the story better? If the HNS pays UEFA under the table and this “decision” is dropped. After all, isn’t Suker a UEFA delegate? I’m not convinced this is the end either. This is all so sad and depressing.
Yes! I fucking knew it! It’s still some byllshit though, the Italians need to be held responsible for the lack of security. Just saying though

I knew there had to be a caveat to this from the moment Srna made that comment after the game. There was no way this was going to happen.

WTF no fans for the Italia match in June?!? that’s why the HNS wants to move the game to Spalato? http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/nogomet/sok-iz-uefa-e-hrvatska-italija-bez-gledatelja—379890.html
Hahahaha hahahaha! I knew something was up.
Hrvatska – Italija in Split…….in front of an empty crowd.

They spew the same bullshit though
Sunje for sure is not Ivica/Maminjo
@savez,
Sorry, buddy, but we’re not the same person.
Anything worse than people acting like they know what they are talking about when in fact they have absolutely no idea? Bolje je bit najbolji u selu nego najgori u gradu.
When is Cro Cop talk gona start, I’m working all week and havn’t got time, Mirko needs to pound that fat fuck, no offense to Brasilians but after the world cup scores need to be evened.
@Ante B.,
sunje, maminjo and ivica are the same person, posting the same crap under numberous names, pay no attention to him
he is still reeling from slavonac putting him in his place a few days ago 🙂
Maminjo,
Putting me in my place with what? I didn’t say anything different.
Nikica Jelavic doesn’t need to come of retirement he didn’t play that well for the reprezentacija he made 36 appearances and scored only 6 goals. We don’t need his services.
Croatian Person’s post is awesome.
In a simple and short paragraph, he’s summed up all of our fears in wonderful fashion.
Sunje’s comments is something that had to be said to many of the ‘woe-is-me’ Croats out there who don’t offer any solutions to our problems themselves and just want to see everything burn (allowing themselves to be manipulated by those who have other agendas).
Croatian Person better win post of the year, otherwise I’m going to truly be outraged again.
Really??????
Past actions suggest otherwise. It’s one thing to think a certain way and I agree with it, but the actions of our fans in the past sure dont support what you are saying.
Uff. Sunje putting guys like Ante B and Ziva in their place.
Good post.
@ ciro
if you’re projecting future players, i think arjen robben seems like a good comparison. left footed attack player that likes to shoot and probably doesn’t do much passing or anything else. seems like a good future comp and would be satisfied to see it come to fruition
@ Čovjek
Best post ever!
Lmfao
Halilovic compared to Arjen Robben, Ante? Shows your knowledge.
From your keyboard to God’s ears.
Everyone needs to get their priorities in check. God forbid Croatia was ever disqualified for something other than a lack of points. What would you have to look forward to?
1)Dinamo that is the laughing-stock of Europe
2)Hajduk (even worse)
Point clear?
Not to worry. The match against Italy in Split will be a beautiful football affair with an atmosphere that no other city in Croatia (and farther) can provide.
Smart people recognize that, and the stadium will be filled with smart people that want to see Croatia defeat Italy. It might not be that meaningful competition-wise, as Croatia has pretty much secured a spot a EURO 16, but, nonetheless, it’s still Italy.
It’s a big deal.
sunje i sure hope so
There won’t be any trouble in Split for the newly slated qualifiers.
Torcida is overwhelmingly patriotic, save for the few Yugo bad apples that will not spoil the bunch. Heck, the professional “navijaci” might not even attend the games. Even better, as the stands will be filled to the rafters with patriotic Splicani, Dalmatian highlanders and Hercegovci. These folks, for the most part, put CROATIA ahead of hajduk and dinamo on the pecking order.
They love CROATIA more than they hate Mamic, Suker et al.
Full capacity guaranteed for the matches. And, again, there will be little to NO problems. Much to the chagrin of the Holigas, INDEX, Thomas Bauers, Ljubo Pavasovics, Drazen Lalics and the rest of the Yugo scum that seek to derail Croatia.
Their goal of destroying the Croatian national team by utilizing the many injustices committed against hajduk will not succeed. Croatian PATRIOTS can read between the lines.
Just deal with who nk puts in 11 its out of our hands but i am sick of olic and sranjic and its not just them two the team needs new blood like 2008 euro maybe need to play strinic leovac or barisic at lb jedvaj vrsaljko mitrovic need playing time aswell and like to see halilovic rebic get it together we need wingers. And pjaca looks like hell be next perisic. We have the players just need to mix and match. Im going to the italy game 100posto. Lineup id try in friendly Kalinic Vrsaljko Jedvaj Mitrovic Leovac Kovacic Badelj Pjaca Brozovic Halilovic Rebic.
We need to play Olic up top and Jelavic needs to come out of retirement. His speed together with Olic’s silky dribbling skills will help us. It’s obvious to everyone that Pranjic is as solid as it gets. We need him for headers and his man marking ability. Lovren’s composure, Corluka’s quickness and Srna being strong on his feet will carry us to at least the semis of the Euro.
How can anyone disagree with those players? Please give me any serious reason.
PS. When is Pletikosa returning?
Unless… Srna in the future wants to hold some sort of office after he retires, and this is a way to gain trust with the public? but i don’t see him as someone that works with mamic. something is very fishy. I guarantee you however, if torcida would have never wrote that letter to srna this change would not have happened. i think the change happened more in spite of torcida, rather than for torcida.
Vatrena,
100%. Maybe that’s why they considered this whole venue change. Nothing is making sense at all. Suker wouldn’t meet Brbic and now he’s cool with him? something is not….right. But yeah, to say that the HNS is not somewhat hoping for that cannot be accurate. If Torca fucks up, HNS will be like “seeee, we told you” and I’m sure there’s a plan from the current criminals if we get thrown out of any future tournament.
I really doubt the savez wants any sort of trouble in Split. That would put the savez in trouble with UEFA as it would be a second incident in the qaulifying campaign. Could lead to increased punishment.
I don’t what drove this change. It won’t stop the public from wanting to get rid of Puppet Suker or Mamic.
I’m sure the police presence will be high in Split for the game, but the savez could be asking for trouble by playing this in Split.
@ante
you think they are hoping torcida shoot themselves in the foot? meaning they hope they screw it up to show why they didn’t want the games there in the first place.
Vatrena,
Agreed. If it is in Split, asti Gospe
@ante
Yeah something is happening behind closed doors. But rest assured bit ce belaja
Hrvatska italija i bugarska na poljud haaa Suker caved in i wonder if people will go to those games???
I knew something was up from the start when Srna made that comment.
Kvartuc- have you checked out his average playing time at Barca “B”? if you were a head coach and someone doesn’t start for you and plays an average of less than 30 minutes per game, would you bring him to your “A” team?
He’s definitely got the talent but there is no need to exaggerate his progress just yet.
ohh and btw… bit ce belaja na poljudu.
not bashing the kid because he does have a bright future, but that run doesn’t say much about his skill “except the shot”. at no point in time was there a defender closer than 10 meters to him. it was a free run, defense got caught in transition. still a nice shot though.
“no its better to put Srna on the wing since its less running than the rb position… and put vrsaljko behind him..”
Maybe it’s time for some of these young guys to show it in the training leading up to the qualifiers. If they are not showing much in training, plus they have not done much at the club level, very tough to play them in games that count.
No!
Olić is more proven and needs the entire 90 minutes!
😉
@ Dannyj
Explosive attacking players need to make their living in the offensive third of the pitch. Yes they need to learn tactical formations and track back on defense BUT they get paid to take on defenders and make scorning plays.
We need attacking explosiveness in the final third. Modric and Rakitic are two of the BEST CM’s in the world, they have they ability to spring wings into space.
Halilovic getting the nod is less about him and more about our need at present. Give the kid some MINUTES !
Good player straight in the starting 11 for Croatia.
one things for sure, he ain’t afraid to blast it and blast it he can
we need more of that… remember that stretch where no one was shooting from the outside at all
he has sure shown some incredible bursts of offensive talent
im just curious how his normal game play is developing… defensive responsibilities and all that other good stuff
@ Svima
What’s worse?
DUKE getting friendly whistle or Halilovic not getting minutes on the right wing?
Stop the madness on both fronts.
