CroatianSports.com turns 4 today! February 22nd, 2008 marked the beginning of this crazy experiment where two guys from Southern California went out on a limb to spread the word about Croatian soccer through CroatianSoccerReport.com. Since, we have evolved into CroatianSports.com in October 2011 covering all Croatian sports including basketball, handball, MMA and of course, soccer. It’s been an amazing four years getting to know all the personalities on the site and the members of Prva Generacija– the heart and soul of CroatianSports.com.
CroatianSports.com will continue to grow as a community and through coverage of Euro 2012 this summer. The site will be the official Croatian correspondent for ESPN Soccernet during the European Championships in Ukraine and Poland. However, there is always room to grow. Please use this time to tell us how we are doing and how we can improve the site in the future.
A special thanks goes out to the staff members of CroatianSports.com, whose ‘labor of love’ for Croatian sports keeps this site ticking everyday: Matt Lebo (Staff Writer) Zach Gilfix (Croatians Around Europe) Mike ‘The Croatian Crippler’ Rožić (MMA Writer) Branimir Kvartuč (Director) and my partner in crime and co-founder Denis Svirčić.
Sretan rođendan!!!! 🙂
Evo što Bilić misli o Sammiru….

Its been a great pleasure getting to know you guys and the site Im really glad you put this up for Croatians, keep up the good work HEPI BRZDEJ -U-
@ MelbCro…
I’m licking my chops with that last comment. Australia has been on my list both for personal and Croatiansports.com reasons. I would love to come down in the summer for the Australian Open. How bout 2013? You hosting?
@ All
A fantastic 4 years!! What I’m most proud about is the relationships we have built since the beginning. We’ve already visited friends from the site in Zagreb, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and it now looks like Australia is close. Remember…I say a Las Vegas board meeting is just around the corner…for all of Prva Generacija and new members.
Welcome to the Digital Dom!
I think its about time Denis, Ante and co made a trip down under to Australia
This site is the new Croatian Hall. Although it is not made of four walls, it is a place where we can share our culture through the appreciation of sport. Unlike the old-school Croatian Hall, this site is always open and always available to you. Its a place where you are always welcomed and encouraged to speak your mind and engage the audience. Its a place where you can contribute in a considerable way. The Croatian Cripple said “I would like to cover MMA,” and he is now covering MMA and hanging out with our Croatian athletes and becoming friends with them. This is a place that promotes and encourages your participation and contribution. The magic of CroatianSports.com is that it makes you feel like it is yours and that is because it is. Congratulations to Ante and Denis, all the contributors, the Prva Generacija, all the commenters and all the lurkers who read everything but write nothing for participating in this fantastic social expression. I think we are all better for being a part of this community!
Happy Birthday HrvatskiSports.com!
Happy Birthday CSR/CS!
Being able to get a first glimpse of the news plus everyone’s reactions makes this a great website, and I very much enjoy it!

Za Dom Spremni
Thank you for this website!
Maybe it would be again better if sometimes they were some report about an old but important game (First game of Croatia, Dinamo-Partizan…), or old Croatian soccer team (1998 etc.)
SRETAN RODJENDAN!! 😀
Feliz cumpleanos amigos!
i echo the sentiments of those above, it’s quite amazing the work that you guys have done and the progress that you have achieved. I wonder where it will be in 4 more years…!
Great job guys!!! Relly great!!!!! Im so glad I found this site! Thank you for making Croatiansports.com my #1 to vist!!!
And thanks to the whole community, everyone is great….except Ziva…hes a dumb ass!
SRETAN RODENDAN!
Man how time flys! it feels like it was just yesterday that i managed to stumble on this this site by looking for any news focusing on the first croatia v england game in zagreb.(world cup qualifiers)
I was quite amazed to find a site that always imagined for, a site that provided me with the hrvatski football fix and could aslo relate too, a site made for the fans by the fans and delivered in a unique way.
Alot has changed in that time but alot has stayed the same. One thing that has remained is the quality and effort put forth to keep this site running and keep me interested in all these years.
Did not want to come off as some suck up, but still want to show my appreciation.
Stretan rodendan fellas. Just keep doing what your doing. Much respect.
sretan rodendan boys. well done! however, you are only four years old so that vegas trip with booze, hookers and drugs seems a little inappropriate. maybe when you are a teenager…haha
keep up the good work guys!
@ Denis Svirčić
“One day we will all meet up in Vegas, 100+, walking down Las Vegas Blvd… singing…. “bjezite ljudi..” before a Croatian qualifier…”
Let’s have a party, with chicks and guns and fire trucks and hookers and drugs and booze…
All the things that make life worth living for!
🙂
Congrats guys, you should be very proud of what you’ve put together. You’re proof that two guys with a vision can make something happen if they actually put the time and effort into it.
I suggested before that under the ‘fan zone’ we should have some Croatian desktop backgrounds or something.
I believe you guys are working on the forums and I think that would be a great addition because then if ANYONE on the site finds out information that others might not know…..they could just post it themselves.
Other than that, you guys are great and I believe you are accomplishing your goal of uniting Croatians. You can bet that during Euro Cup time, all of the Croatians that DON’T know about this site yet will surely find it.
I worked 4 years on Croatian(soccer report)sports.com and all I got was this lousy Slaven Bilic T-Shirt.
What started off as a little side project turned into a full time (unpaid) job. If I had a nickel every time I heard someone say, “you’re working for free. You’re crazy.”
Yes, we are a little crazy and a little weird, I must admit.
In four years, we are at a point where Croatians around the world have heard about us and follow us. Croatian media have re-posted at least a dozen of our interviews/stories. We built a strong Croatian community online where EVERYONE can have a take on anything in the world of Croatian sports.
Most importantly, all of the people that we’ve met along this journey is priceless. Where will you find another Ziva Istina or AllenInnovation? Some of you hate them, while some of you appreciate their talents but in the end, they make us who we are today: CroatianSports.com
I’m not going to bore you and write a long list of people that contribute to this site. I only used Ziva’s and Allen’s name as an example.
Ultimately, this website was made to unite Croatians and Croatia fans around he world. All of the boys(and girls) we met in NY, Toronto, Vancouver, and San Jose is just the beginning.
One day we will all meet up in Vegas, 100+, walking down Las Vegas Blvd… singing…. “bjezite ljudi..” before a Croatian qualifier…
We are ALL on the same team here… besides latinamerican… that guy thinks the world should all hold hands and sing “kumbaya”…
Happy birthday team CroatianSports!
..
lipo ime croatiansports.com Bog i zivio!
I like this website, I would like for a possible website renovation to have the list of sports you guys cover in a better fashion or maybe not im torn between that, it all depends on how well you guys do it or make it worse.
@AllenInnovation
Nicely said Allen. Looking forward to the video!
Big achievement here everyone. We may debate and get under each others skin but at the end, we are still one. If Croatia wins a huge game, we all celebrate together. It showed against Turkey how we were united and hopefully it will happen this summer. I’m damn happy to be on the site and its always a blast to talk to all of you. I’ll be doing another video soon previewing Croatia Sweden along with talking about the site in general.
Sretan rođendan!
Keep up the great work! It is quite nice to have a place to hang out every now and than with some crazy Croatians.
🙂
